The Jamaican Sonia Pottinger was once called The most important Jamaican woman involved in music business'. Dancing Down Orange Street is a collection of some of her famous productions for different artists. The album captures the moment when Rocksteady transformed into Reggae by speeding up a little and moving towards a more jerky and less smooth musical palette. Famous singers as Delano Stewart and Ken Boothe are present on the album with multiple tracks. The vocal trio The Melodians (known for their hit Rivers of Babylon) provide a couple of beutifull songs. Even after all those years (released for the first time in 1969) the compilation remains a treasure of showcasing some of the finest songs produced by Sonia.

Sonia Pottinger was married to music producer Lyndon Pottinger and started to record musicians in 1996. During the late 60's she produced songs for Joe White, The Melodians and Toots & the Maytals.

He began his career at Channel One Studios and has worked alongside well known artists such as Jah Lloyd, Prince Far I, Glen Brown, Delroy Wilson, Pat Kelly and U Roy. He has released tracks and albums on numerous labels such as Duke Reid, Trojan plus his own Coptic Lion imprint to name a few. ABOUT i&i MUSIK i&i Musik is a small independent record label based in London and setup by producer Archiver. The label is centred around Archiver's own productions and collaborations, but will also showcase other artists and producers. Not wanting to be pigeon holed, the label will mix styles and genres where dub techniques and bass feature prominently.

Shinsekai New World, refers to the periphery of severe poverty and destitution in Osaka, Japan. Called Nishinari-ku it is home to many beautiful people.

Nubiyan Twist exploded onto the global stage with their 2015 debut album Nubiyan Twist', drawing on elements of jazz, afrobeat, hiphop, soul and dub to create their own trademark style, driven by powerful, arrangements, a driving rhythm section and the laidback, soulful delivery of female vocalist Nubiya Brandon. When it comes to old-school roots reggae, few groups were as influential as The Maytals. Adding Frederick Toots' Hibbert's name to the front of their billing later in the 1970s, in the earliest days they were more egalitarian as they built their sound and legend. From The Roots, originally released on Trojan Records in 1970 (alongside another full-length that same year, Monkey Man), was a transitional record for the group. Leaving behind their early ska days - much like The Wailers and other peers - they had yet to settle into the slower tempos that blew in like ganja smoke by the mid-'70s. As a result, music here generally gallops, and vocals fall in line. As heard on gems like Koo Koo,' Got To Feel,' and Pee Pee Cluck Cluck,' the Maytals' lyrics tend mostly towards love and the pursuit thereof. The group, throughout its career, was also deeply spiritual and much of this was expressed through song - a great case in point here is Thy Kingdom Come,' essentially a church hymn set to reggae music. And the album concludes with an interesting cover of the Lennon/McCartney hippie chestnut, Give Peace A Chance,' which is much faster than the original and quite groovy overall. The Maytals are generally overlooked in the pantheon of reggae giants, but this is unjust. Do your part in recognizing their legendary status by digging into this filling meal of classic Jamaican fare.

Biga * Ranx, the young prodigy of the Dancehall scene, delivers the last volume of the serie of three maxis entitled "THE WORLD OF BIGA * RANX". It is with the famous producer KANKA that he chose to collaborate with on this Volume 3. The two companions are not in their first test since they had already worked together on the massive tune "Make It This Time". Welcome to the wonderful world of "DUB STEPPA"!

Following up the release of his first album "On Time" (2011), the serie of 3 maxis entitled "THE WORLD OF BIGA*RANX" started in 2012. Each maxi reveals 4 tracks composed in collaboration with one beat maker. To launch this series Biga*Ranx decided to present his friends, the Danish producers Maffi, already present on the album "On Time" on two titles. The crew Maffi is considered one of the best producers of digital reggae currently. He collaborates with Jahtari and Pupa Jim. As he says on the first track, "Dancehall is my life and singing is my vocation ..." he certainly sings his autobiography, but not only. With a sharp pen, Biga*Ranx castigates a world of indifference on the title of the same name but always keeping this faith which gives rise to a perpetual hope. On the B side of the vinyl two other compositions much lighter in a "Party Time" atmosphere with the titles "True Romance" and "Do not Go". An unstoppable and melodic flow on an effective beat blended with Blues guitars. In the end a dynamic and modern reggae served by the amazing voice of Biga*Ranx both suave and devastating! Young Dancehall MC Biga*Ranx delivers the second volume of the serie of maxis entitled "THE WORLD OF BIGA*RANX". After meeting the digital reggae of the Danish producers Maffi, Biga * Ranx returns in force in collaboration with Ondubground. From the city of Tours (France), just like Biga, this trio imposes itself as the dubstep revelation of the French scene. The crew ODG led by their charismatic leader Olo, has already participated in productions of the first album of Biga * Ranx "On Time" on the tracks Gipsy Rock or Brigante Life. Long-time friends, they shared the stage several times and worked regularly in the studio together. This maxi begins hard with the title "Set Me Free", a name more than evocative. Biga * likes to play codes and oscillates between the genres he likes without ever cataloging. It once again demonstrates its incredible flow on the track "Depense On My Ting". Two reggae classics revisited with Ondubground sauce with the titles "Mawdness" and "I Shoot the Dubstep", to conclude this foray into the wonderful world of stepper!

Rhoda Dakar came to prominence as lead singer with multiracial all-girl band The Bodysnatchers on the legendary 2Tone label in 1980. 35 years on, she has recorded what is being described as the lost 2Tone album'!

Ska (or bluebeat) marked the true rise of Jamaican popular music, finding the most popular in the first half of the years if "60. It was the forerunner of other major genres such as rocksteady and reggae, and as these featured a rhythm with accents on raising the musical joke. Fundamental to the English contribution from the last years "70 which gave the exotic rhythm a cultural connotation as well as musical giving rise to rude boys, skinheads and mods. The fascinating Italian street at Ska begins in the second half of the 80s, albeit sometimes embarrassed with punk, when many bands first underground on the Lombardy-Piedmont axis begin to have a national resonance, Bluebeaters, Statute, Matrioska, Royale Casino, Persiana Jones, Shandon etc. With the time and bandwidth of this period, they mistakenly united to each other without having the requisite chronological or stylistic requirements and hybrid music left for what they were not, the genre faded, deflated, imploded even if a hard-core musician continued to operate "in the shadows" and with a discreet personal follow-up. In the last decade, the rhythms of the ska Italian were mostly abandoned by the 2-Tone-ska, with its ska-core and ska-punk dances, and back to the origins of the traditional Jamaican ska. MAGNETICS : Today something finally begins to move. And this is something very high. Leave behind the ingenuity of the past, so that a new generation of musicians stand out in the Italian landscape. High-tech musicians whose first references are Jamaica of the origins and the New York scene of recent years. THE MAGNETICS of "lifting" movement do so much, and quality material to be heard alike. It is surely early to talk about the rebirth of the Ska, primarily because at the public and local level there is still a bit of the prejudice that the genre has brought back from the '90s. But with groups such as THE MAGNETICS, the new formation led by Olly Riva and Mr.Massa, with their early reggae could finally be the right mood.

"In The Midst Of The Storm" brings together two exceptional talents and two generations of reggae musicians. This release marks the first Mad Professor title with VP Records as well as the first commercial recording of Mad Professor and Jah9 together. Following the sucess of 'Train Wreck' and 'Tree's' on ASXXX001, Ash Walker returns with a bang for his second installment on his Vinyl only, White Label series, with 'Put it on' & 'Bush Weed''

A-side 'Put It On' is a straight up summer sizzler! A hip-hop meets rocksteady mashup, Ash Walker style. The tune carries with it the now well-established 'live' sound that Ash has been developing over the last few years, and the addition of his trademark reverbs and effects ensures that this one will get a great reaction whether being enjoyed to at home or played out to a dancefloor.

AA-side 'Bush Weed' comes like an Augustus Pablo classic updated by Ash and his band for the 21stCentury. The delicate acoustic intro sets the tone for what is sure to be a big tune this summer, before a powerful bass line enters the mix and becomes the tune's backbone. We later hear a melodica added to enhance even further to the track's expansive sense of atmosphere. The crisp guitar at the start of the track reappears towards the end to wrap up four minutes of sun-drenched and beautiful music.

Ash's unique fusion of jazz, dub and trip-hop has been getting consistent support from producers and DJs across the board, from Gilles Peterson and Don Letts at BBC Radio 6 Music, through Joe Kay at Soulection to Tim Parker, Throwing Shade and Trevor Jackson all at NTS Radio.

The next instalment in the Dubplate series sees our very own Scrimshire step up to the plate for the fourth time!

Having gained huge amounts of radio play for his own productions, as well as the occasional cheeky re-edit, Scrimshire brings us two firing reworks of somewhat unsung soul singer, Margie Joseph.

Her version of I Can't Move No Mountains is given extra fire for the dance floor with plenty of twist and turns along the way, while her take on the Bill Withers classic The Same Love That Made Me Laugh, is given a little extra bounce that makes it a slightly more subtle club killer.

1985 in Tokyo, the Japanese ska scene saw the dawn of a new era when Ska Flames run into the circuit.

Back then there wasn't even a club scene, although the city had some ska hot dances where live music was happening and DJs were playing out their gems. In fact that was the only place in Japan where you can buy or even listen to the Jamaican ska music. Those ska musicians and DJs were seen as cool and hip players causing this movement by drowning themselves into the Skatalites records.

That's when an English gentleman, goes under the name of Gaz Mayall, who discovered the Ska Flames while his visit in Japan. The band released their first album "Ska Fever" for Gaz Rockin' Blues in 1989, successfully debuting the London gig the same year spreading their name across the globe. What's interesting is their song titles, "Samurai", "Kurosawa" and even "Hot Sake". They are all seemingly named by Gaz who perhaps felt the Japanese romance to their music. The Ska Flames indeed is a band that deserves it all.

The Ska Flames music is unconventional - like if they only play what they felt the best ska at times. It's manly, but rich in variety and humorous at the same time. Their first single "Tokyo Shot" sounds miraculously refined like Showa pops.

When you talk about the live shows of the Ska Flames, it's like a Japanese local festival. Full of atmosphere and good vibes. Every band member stands on the stage like bosses, confidence would be the only word that can explain their presence. Legendary, it is also known that their gigs sell more booze than anyone else's.

In 1989, when the Skatalies and Prince Buster toured Japan, the Ska Flames represented the Japanese ska scene receiving applause from every punter. Since then, they played the same roll supporting other Jamaican legends at numeros occasions, acting as a bridge between the two countries.

It's been over thirty years since the beginning, meanwhile the Japanese ska scene has strongly been established and is as bold as ever. We cannot measure how much contribution the founding members such as Kenji Miyazaki, Koji Ise, Akihito Nakasu, Seiichi Nagai, Toru Shibagaki and Kei Miyanaga, as well as the next generation Michihisa Ishii, Kei Mizorogi, Jin Shimura and Naoki Tanaka have rendered to the Japanese music.

The Ska Flames have been and will always be leading the Japanese ska music spreading the good vibes all around. Right about now, I would like to present this stunning album to all the great musicians of Jamaica and no other than Prince Buster.

Originally this was an ultra rare 1989 album from Buster Bloodvessel of Bad Manners fame. This spin-off group's LP is one of the most sought after collectable Ska releases of the 1980s, Mad Butcher is pleased to present this high quality reissue on their sub-label Black Butcher Classics.

'Kiss, Cuddle & Torture Volume 1' is the debut album from London outit The Hempolics. If variety is the spice of life then this album embodies it, taking a heavy reggae roots infuence and mashing it with hip hop, electro, soul, rock and pop to provide an antdote to the atenton-defcit generaton. Some bands talk an 'all killer no fller' album, The Hempolics walk it.
Over years of recording top internatonal talent The Hempolics enigmatc leader, Grippa Laybourne, has been carefully honing his own masterpiece and selectng a gang armed and dangerous enough to execute it. Alongside mainstay vocalists Nubiya, Dandelion and Harry come other top talent including Maxi Jazz and Paolo Nutni. Singles of the album have already picked up massive support on BBC Radio.
With a unique modern yet vintage sound and a serious punk DIY ethic this working class band are destned to have the rich kids and performance school drones dominatng the industry quaking in their wake. This is the sound of the underdog

Following The Way For We' released in 2014, The I-Twins are back with their second autoproduced album The Master Plan', available on the 2nd of June 2017. For the recording, the twins worked with musicians from Najavibes, as well as other talented artists from the Geneva reggae scene. The album goes from roots reggae to rockers and rub-a-dub, bearing few touches of jazz and soul, and deals with topics that matter particularly to the I-Twins: our relation to death, suffering, injustice, love, as well as to beauty, and gives a critical view of our political system and its dysfunctions.

Recorded at Bridge Studio, Geneva, The Master Plan' was mixed by the vintage reggae specialist, Roberto Sánchez and mastered by Sam John. The result is therefore in the perfect continuity of the work initiated by Fruits Records. However, this release marks a turning point in the catalogue of the label, which puts forward for the first time young Europeans artists, till now, it was indeed dedicated to veterans of the Jamaican music golden era.

The album will be available on CD and on gatefold double LP (300 copies) with five dubs by Roberto Sánchez.

One of the last Bob Marley live performances committed to film before his untimely death in May 1981, 'The Legend Live' features the Tuff Gong in his full pomp, performing 21 of his most popular works at the Santa Barbara County Bowl on the 25th of November 1979.

Now widely considered an equal of the now legendary 'Live at the Rainbow' show from 1977, the concert includes superb versions of such major hits as 'I Shot The Sheriff', 'One Drop', 'Exodus', 'Jamming', 'Is This Love', 'Stir It Up' and the anthemic 'Get Up Stand Up'.

Previously released in 2016 on CD+DVD, this 3LP set comprises the very best of the band's performances from the night, which have never previously been released on vinyl.

Presented in a handsomely designed triple-gatefold, the release is to be exhaustively promoted via Trojan's website, facebook page, twitter, YouTube channel and mailing list, with reviews actively solicited from all the significant periodicals and sites.
