""Wild Metals"" sounds like ferns and orchids infiltrating a tableaux of black plastic electronics, the breed of black plastic that Russo and Wyatt both found sinisterly inserted into the grid of their childhood. It provided the skin for some of their favorite toys, and its general resonance was aligned with the fast cars, women, and architecture that dominated their imaginations.

Recent Young Turks signing 'Quirke' released his 'Acid Beth' EP in May. The EP is an insight into the world of Josh Quirke, a London based producer making music that could only exist in the current generation of genre confused electronica.

2014 also marked the return of Jamie xx. The producer released two limited edition singles 'All Under One Roof Raving' and the AA-side 'Girl' / 'Sleepsound'. As well as working on new music with both The xx and his own solo album, Jamie spent much of 2014 playing shows around the world and last month picked up a Q Award for Best Video for 'Girl'.

Lastly, 2014 saw the meteoric rise of FKA twigs. The much talked about singer, producer and director is currently in the middle of her largest tour to date, playing shows across the UK, Europe and North America. Since its release in August, her debut album 'LP1' has received worldwide critical acclaim and was one of twelve albums to make the shortlist for the 2014 Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize.

Die Live-Qualitäten der Band runden das Ganze ab und machen "Starfire" zu einem wunderschönen, tiefgründigen, absolut berauschenden Album, das einen in andere Sphären katapultiert. Es ist ein in seiner Struktur komplexes, musikalisch sehr reichhaltiges Werk, dem es jedoch zu keiner Zeit an Sinnlichkeit oder menschlichem Mitgefühl mangelt. Long Arm follows up 'The Branches' from 2012 ! Every new experience lets him grow as a person and also expands his knowledge of the world that surrounds him. His young mind is sometimes blurrying the lines between imagination and reality, dreaming and being awake, reality and fantasy. Making sense of this world in its very own unique way, his world is filled with fantastic and surreal magical creatures and quirky characters. Over the course of the ten songs many different little adventures unfold and await the young boy, slowly building his character while he explores nature in all its varieties and learns to appreciate it. He lives through new emotions and gets to learn about his own feelings during the process. The title track 'Kellion' represents the very inner world of the kid - it is his cocoon where he can always return to and be safe after his journeys and adventures. 'Kellion' is the story of a young boy who was born into a mysterious world he explores with his curious eyes, ears and hands.  I was trying to live his life with him together and feel what he felt. I tried to understand and recollect what it feels like as a little boy walking around in this big world. Whilst the murky four-track cassette sound and dirty analogue textures are still very much in place, keen ears might spot a subtle change in emphasis. There are less of the radiophonic sci-fi sounds, ancient drum machines and none of the post-punk bass or guitar. Instead, Nick Edwards mainly focuses on invoking a blurry, saturated false-memory of the leftfield electronica that was the soundtrack to his life in the early to mid-1990s.As the album title suggests, "Reflekzionz" is a record that unapologetically dwells on past experiences, like flicking through an old album of bleached-out photos from days gone by, and on tracks like "Downtone", with its extended, unchanging groove and wash of muted, untethered synth melody, the aim is to invite the listener to join in a state of reverie. "Midnight Cliffs" and "Saturation (Full Rinse)" are unabashed homages to the artists who inspired Edwards, but always with enough production twists and turns to ensure the results are never simply a facsimile of the originals. Opening track "A Caustic Romance" could almost be a lost AFX beat but adds a touch of hand-played naive melody that brings to mind mid-seventies Cluster, blending different eras in a lo-fi melting pot.Elsewhere there are other influences on display. "Quakers Road Skank" sounds like Raymond Scott jamming with Lee Perry at the Black Ark "Repeater (How Did It Feel)" tips its hat to the work of indie-psych gods Spacemen 3, whilst "Seduktion" adds a touch of Kraftwerk-like metallic sheen. But as with practically all Ekoplekz records, the unifying factor is the primitive dubwise production, heavy on the filtering, echo and equalisation, never more apparent than on "Dubnium 268" where heavy layers of drone and melody crash and burn along an unstable rhythmic path. The album closes with the gentle, woozy atmosphere of "Day In May", where fragile, muted melodies drift in and out of sync on a bed of corroded drum machine, fading into the distance like a half-remembered dream - the perfect finish to an hour spent in the company of Nick Edwards at his most 'reflective'.

The second release on FTD is also the second release of Lisbon based production trio Niagara. Although they haven't released a record since 'Ouro Oeste' dropped on Príncipe back in 2013, their signature sound has travelled through many different guises. FTD002 charts such experimentations during this time, from the 'fall-over drunk' guitars on 'Falcão', to the wedding bells and released hounds on 'Mustor'.

Ben Zimmerman's The Baltika Years is a collection of recordings created between 1992 and 2002 mostly using a Tandy DeskMate.When Ben solicited the recordings to Software in 2013, we were taken aback by how personal the music felt considering the palette used. It was like reading an abstract diary. The clues into Ben's world are so stark and strange that they feel like monuments.Reducing Zimmerman's prolific output down to four album sides was a challenge. Much like the myth of the process-oriented painter in his prime, you get the sense that Zimmerman is subconsciously actualizing an artistic scenario that he may or may not be privy to.When The Baltika Years is absorbed as a canon of work, a super-effect emerges which bonds all of his output. This is somewhat represented in the way we assembled the anthology, focusing on certain stylistic epochs that Zimmerman moved through over a decade of solitary experimenting and obsessing. In many ways, The Baltika Years embodies the spirit of Software. It articulates a belief that idiosyncrasy is inevitable, and that human affect and technology are linked. One helps the other express something mysterious about the world. Via limiting himself to one very specific instrument, Ben realized his own style -- a monochromatic computer music that glows with the intimacy found in life's barely audible sentiments, curios, and details.

Communist Dub is Pan Sonic member Ilpo Väisänen's second solo album for (Eiditons) Mego (Asuma having appeared 2001). This striking new release is a statement against technocracy and the erosion of human community. Whilst Jamaican Dub and Ska are often cited as an influence on Väisänen's work, this album utilises Dub as strategy as opposed to genre - the precise manipulation of sound and the removal of all extraneous material to create a disorientating landscape of austere spaces. Pulled into a sucking pit of reverb and echo, the listener can choose whether to be pummelled into submission or to reflect on their situation. Väisänen's intricate rhythmic structures propel the listener from monochrome machinic matrices to head-wrecking abstraction. The ten track titles hint at failed emancipatory projects of the last century with a nod to the present situation - "Donetsk Disciples: Bolsheviks meeting the farmers (and wiping them out)", "Benghazi Affair: Libyan connection and arming the forces, but history is taking over. A burning man in Tunisia starts the future." Communist Dub is a ruthless criticism of everything existing, but one ultimately tempered by hope. John Eden

The Modern Electronic Element series has been an exposition undertaken by Nation designed to show different aspects within Jakbeat, and was inaugurated back in 2008 with a 12 featuring the Chicago label's core crew of Traxx, JTC, D'Marc Cantu, and Beau Wanzer.The second edition, issued in 2011, saw Nation open the series to some like-minded artists with contributions from Jamal Moss as I.B.M., Steve Summers, Baris K, Mick Wills, and Tevo Howard. The evolution of the Modern Electronic Element Series enters the third phase. creations born from Japan's underground continue to stay highly unique and maintain a clear sense of being deeply Japanese. ENA
has been a multi-instrumentalist artist, studio engineer, DJ and producer for more than a decade now. The author of three acclaimed
12' releases over the past three years on the 7even Recordings imprint, his rare output has always impressed by the uniqueness of
his sound and the high level of studio technique in his production. ENA has been tying the old to the new by blending diverse
influences such as Dub music, early Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Techno and Abstract Hip Hop. He's gained support from major players
such as Surgeon, Laurent Garnier, A Made Up Sound, Pangaea, Goth-Trad and Peverelist to name but a few. His invitation to provide

Multi-instrumentalist Jim Dead (aka James Misbrener) began playing music as a wee lad influenced by relatives who encouraged him to strap on a piano accordian, which he had done by the tender age of five. (He mastered by twelve). In later years he flogged his brother's "dusty old guitar" and taught himself how to play it, moving on to piano in his mid-20s, then harmonium, melodica and bass.

Taking eight years to complete, "The Lament of the Rabbit King" began in inner-city Sydney, Australia in 2001, with writing and recording continuing in London between 2002 - 2005, the album finally completed in October 2009.

It combines electronic orchestration with live instrumentation, many of the instruments played by Jim himself. He also sang lead vocals on all of the songs.

The album was also played - and sung - on by some of the most talented musicians in Australia and London, including Myles Heskett and Chris Ross (both ex-Wolfmother, now Palace Of Fire and The Slew), vocalists Tess Bryant and Laurel Puckeridge, violinist Jason Tampake (Firekites, Charge Group), drummer Sean Brady (Groove Ganesh, Shemozzle) and horn player Stu West.

Mighty Highness Records releases this album for the first time on LP, since its original debut in 2009 on a handful of cd's.

Here's a little personal background to understand why we decided to release this amazing record.

I (Misha Laurent aka Barkin'Soul) met James about 5 years ago, a couple of weeks after my arrival in the Blue Mountains and we connected immediately.

After sharing some time together, James passed on his cd for me to listen to and it was a revelation.

Despite the enormity of the recording process, James only ever printed a few 100 copies of the cd and never really pushed it..

The second I put that cd in my car stereo, my family was mesmerized with the vibe the music was perspirating. That thing was on repeat for 12 months in the car. The kids really got attached to track 3, whilst my favorite is track 5. The violin screams in the background and the beautiful vocals take you to an amazing sensation of love and desperation for

On the remix Claremont 56 boss Paul' Mudd' Murphy delivers a stripped back atmospheric dub groove whilst the second remix from Is It Balearic.. boys Coyote step on the delay pedal and and hit the percussion. Mundo Recordings proudly presents the new album release "Being Human Being"! A new collaboration between Erik Truffaz and Murcof, with a special artwork by Enki Bilal.

Art is the product of singular vision, but singularity is often enhanced when the 'artist' is plural. Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz has worked with Mexican-born sound artist Murcof (originally Fernando Corona) since 2006 when they worked as a trio with Talvin Singh. That fruitful relationship brought together Truffaz's investment in modern jazz (he has been that archetypal thing, a Blue Note artist), a sharp ear for the new discoveries of contemporary composers like Giya Kancheli and others in the eclectic world of new music, and developed a creative conversation with the world of noise, glitch and spectral electronics that is the abode, though by no means isolated abode of Murcof, who is an arch-collaborator, the kind of artist who seems most himself when in dialogue with others. That relationship was suddenly broadened and lent fresh intensity when in 2012 Truffaz met the charismatic Enki Bilal, painter, illustrator and creator of the 'Nikipol' sequence, an man who can conjure a whole world with a few strokes of pen or brush, and imply a whole narrative in a facial expression or modification of the body. It was inevitable that when these men came together, that extraordinary work would ensue. That work is the multi-form piece BeingHumanBeing, which exists as recorded event, as film collage and as the basis - the score, if one likes - of further performances. Its subject matter is clearly stated in the title. If homo sapiens is a singularity in planetary evolution, these are the men best qualified to peer over that event horizon and into the strange world that is our collective future.
