Pioneering dance music DJ, record producer and multi-million selling artist Fatboy Slim, is set to release 'The Fatboy Slim Collection' through Sony Music on May 25th. As one of the world's most renowned DJs, Fatboy Slim, AKA Norman Cook, is a winner of numerous awards including ten MTV Music Awards, three BRITs, an Ivor Novello and a Grammy.
The album features his personal selection of the most seminal dance and electronic floor fillers of all time, including classic tracks by the man himself and a brand new cut - an exclusive dub version of the biggest pop single of the year, 'Uptown Funk', by Fatboy Slim vs Jerome Robins featuring vocals from non-other than Hollywood superstar Idris Elba.
Norman Cook says of the release: Putting together a 'Collection' of road-tested tracks I've seen devastate audiences around the world was an absolute dream. Digging through my vinyl was surprisingly therapeutic, taking me back over the last 30+ years. I have a feeling many people will catch that same vibe when they check the selection out, which I've deliberately sprinkled with a few surprises too!'
The next in the massively successful, Music Week Award-winning, chart-topping, 800k-selling 'Collection' series that has so far featured compilations from DJs Trevor Nelson, Pete Tong and Grandmaster Flash, 'The Fatboy Slim Collection' will comprise of four CDs, three of which will feature all the original legendary club hits he has hand-picked, with the fourth being his own exclusive DJ mix (also replicated on the digital formats).
Standouts on the release include The Chemical Brothers' No. 1 hit 'Block Rockin' Beats', The Prodigy's timeless 'Out Of Space' and the late Frankie Knuckles' momentous 'Your Love'. Also on the 'Collection' are two of Fatboy Slim's best known singles, 'Right Here, Right Now' and 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat', alongside his huge remixes of Wildchild 'Renegade Master', Groove Armada 'I See You Baby', Beastie Boys 'Body Movin', X-Press 2 'Lazy', Raven Maize 'The Real Life', plus a brand new exclusive mix of his former band Beats International's 1990 No.1 smash 'Dub Be Good (To Me)'.
Norman will be appearing at numerous festivals in the coming months, including Parklife, T In The Park, SW4, Creamfields and Glastonbury, where he will play for the 15th consecutive year - the only artist ever to have done so. SW4 will also see the launch of the 'Smile High Club', a movement dreamt up by Norman to inject some acid house smiley high jinks into the arena he is hosting, as well as his appearance at the aforementioned Creamfields and other events throughout the year.
One of the biggest DJs, artists and record producers of the last two decades, Norman has released seven Top 10 albums to date. Under the Fatboy Slim moniker, he has sold over 5 Million records in the UK alone, including 'You've Come A Long Way Baby', a record that went to No.1 in the UK album chart.
