Cascade and The Deluge are variations on the latest tape-loop and delay composition from the inimitable William Basinski. Cascade is the CD/Digital variant, and The Deluge is the vinyl LP companion. In Cascade, a single ancient lilting piano tape loop repeats endlessly carrying one along in its tessellating current. In The Deluge, the same loop is processed through a series of feedback loops of different lengths, creating a spiraling crescendo of overtones that eventually fades away to silence. In the denouement, a series of limpid piano loops leads to an urgent orchestral theme that builds and gradually dies.

Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth imprint returns with another split 12' of hybrid UK sounds. Following releases on Space + Time and Soundman Chronicles, Etch brings his junglist sensibilities to Wisdom Teeth - this time slowing tempos to a slow lurch for the sour, paranoid step of 'Toxin'. On the flip, label head K-LONE contributes 'Broke' - a beautifully sculpted percussive workout with a reduced, swinging groove.

Arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten Most Significant Beat, a "post-industrial" early '90s techno project from former Clock DVA man Maurizio Martinucci and Esplendor Geonetrico's Saverio Evangelista. This surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously CD-only late '90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout - the angular rhythms and Sheffield bleeps of "Geometric State" - for good measure. For the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of Autechre, the spacey techno of Detroit-via-Frankfurt (see "Amy Tekno") and the buzzing intensity of Surgeon.

'It is a disorienting experience to listen deeply to this music. These lengthy pieces sound densely structured... but with a seat-of-yr-pants improv feel which brings the threat of collapse and chaos... In short, neither salon nor sweat-pit, though informed by both.'

Debut single for this hi-tech low-life straight from the slums of Hong Kong.
The music of Scott Young is much like the city itself, intense and claustrophobic on one hand, dreamy and cinematic on the other. These tracks were made in what he calls the "spaceshuttle" energized by late night noodles under the shimmering neon signs.

With the aim of breaking the mould and taking down boundaries, Andrea's "Black Magic" is the result of a combination of influences melted together in guitar amps to create a wavy piece of music. From the vocal-oriented track "Down" featuring Vanessa Elisha's lush vocals to the club-melting "Without You", Black Magic has a wide range of aesthetics and a particular attention to detail that creates its own unique world much like the artist behind it.

Young Parisian native Andrea has been building up heat over recent months with his innovative live shows (playing at shows alongside Flume, AlunaGeorge, Shlohmo, Bondax and Glitch Mob amongst others) and his own productions and remixes of The xx, AlunaGeorge, Sam Smith, Say Lou Lou, Rosie Lowe, Stwo, Slow Magic, Drake and The Weeknd to name but a few, drawing in fans and scoring radio support from tastemakers such as Benji B, B.Traits, Monki and Rob Da Bank at BBC Radio 1 and Eddy Temple Morris at XFM.

Some of his solo efforts have come in the form of a track on Trapdoor Records Trapdoor Volume 2 compilation series, a track on Flirtini's Heartbreaks & Promises Volume 2 compilation and the much anticipated 'Tenderly'. Add to this his residency on Rinse France, his own label Moose Records, countless remixes, free downloads, a collaboration on Ta-Ku's Create&Explore project, Andrea's very own #OneSampleOneDay project and his recent NASA EP and it becomes clear that Andrea is one of those artists who puts the work in. Thankfully, he has no intention of slowing down!

Andrea's Black Magic EP is due for release on via Jakarta Records the label that has been kicking off many successful careers in the last years with early releases from know reknown producers such as Kaytranada, Ta-ku, Mura Masa,, IAMNOBODI and many more. The release will be made available both digitally and on vinyl (with a very special white-label B-side).

Austrian musician and producer Dorian Concept presents his singular musical vision in its most widescreen form to date via Ninja Tune. His second album, 'Joined Ends', is the biggest, boldest work of his career and a sheer, technicolour audible joy.

London, UK resident Jackson Bailey aka TAPES, makes Jamaica-drenched lo-fi bass music, a forward-looking mix of dub, dancehall and electro roots channeled and filtered through old-school rhythm machines, synths, spring reverb and delay, recorded with glorious grit on cassette, sometimes in the red, tape hiss intact but somehow sounding bigger, better and beatier than it should, with a sweet analog patina. There's an aquatic feel here on this first full album from Bailey, a rich brew of deep and soulful sunny JA roots, hints of UK melancholy and Industrial smoke, even some icily funky NYC early Electro. With an old island soul and a new ear to the future, this first album from TAPES features six new tracks, plus ten other tracks previously issued on his own label and other labels, including Jahtari, in various formats, all gathered here, with new mixes, newly remastered. With a total running time of 43 minutes, these 16 tracks are available on CD and on double 45RPM 12" vinyl. UK, JA, NYC: all these letters, and more, spell TAPES!

Blackest Ever Black presents Red X, the debut release from Young Echo member Ossia. 10 unyielding minutes of noise-strafed, rootical techno backed with two more abstract, uncanny studies in reverb and delay. One of the Bristol underground's most vital behind-the-scenes operators, Ossia runs the RWD FWD mail-order and oversees the Peng! Sound, No Corner and Hotline Recordings labels, among others. Though you may have clocked his appearances as DJ Oa$is on FuckPunk, the no-fi dancehall label he runs with Vessel, Red X is his first proper solo offering. The title track was made during the winter of 2014/15, inspired by Peter Tosh's personal taped diaries: mysterious reel-to-reel recordings in which the reggae star documented his dissatisfaction with city life under Babylonian rule, and his mistrust of certain people around him, in the run-up to his shocking murder in '87. Recorded using - among other things - samples, Roland synth, and a rowdy one-take session with the open spring reverb thundering through echo pedals, hard delays and distortion, 'Red X' brilliantly bridges dubwise, isolationist electronics and modern soundsystem dynamics, the stoic half-step of its opening section gradually hewn apart with a ruffneck 4/4 thump, warping sub-bass and a hellfire of high frequencies. Spacious, spry and airy, but with the threat of violence never far way, B1 'Ice & Blood' feels like something picked up on an ebbing pirate signal, with deep blue synths holding fast against stepping razor drum edits. The deep, dread ambience of B2 'Blood & Ice (Version)' was coaxed out of an acetate dubplate of 'Ice & Blood', and the crackly old 7' run-out groove of Tosh's 'Oh Boombaclat', shot through '70s Copicat tape-delay and an array of effects. It powerfully evokes the the last breath, or perhaps first gasp, after the rain, after the violence. Peace at last. Vinyl-only edition of 500 housed in beautiful screen-printed sleeve designed by Studio Tape Echo.

Pioneering dance music DJ, record producer and multi-million selling artist Fatboy Slim, is set to release 'The Fatboy Slim Collection' through Sony Music on May 25th. As one of the world's most renowned DJs, Fatboy Slim, AKA Norman Cook, is a winner of numerous awards including ten MTV Music Awards, three BRITs, an Ivor Novello and a Grammy.

The album features his personal selection of the most seminal dance and electronic floor fillers of all time, including classic tracks by the man himself and a brand new cut - an exclusive dub version of the biggest pop single of the year, 'Uptown Funk', by Fatboy Slim vs Jerome Robins featuring vocals from non-other than Hollywood superstar Idris Elba.

The final part of the SchleiBen series brings the contrast of heavyweights for a special collaborative release featuring Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound), Alessio Natalizia (Walls/Not Waving) and Guido Zen (Brain Machine), backed up on the flp by a rising name, the (another) world ambience of Cass. Emotional Response completes the SchleiBen series, bringing together the legendary Colin Potter with two of Italy's best experimental / drone / industrial producers in Alessio Natalizia and Guido Zen for a one off special recording, plus again highlighting one last Dusseldorf affiiated project, with the Osnabruck based, beautiful ambient touches of producer Niklas Rehme-Schluter aka Cass. When the idea of the split series was born, one of the aims was to get producers who have worked with the label to come together and record special pieces. However, it was not until the fial release that this fially occurred and who better in which to do this. Having seen a number of reissues come out in the last 18 months - one of which on the distant relative label, Sacred Summits, Colin Potter has brought him in to the orbit of two
artists closely associated with Emotional Response in Mr Natalizia and Mr Zen. The assimilated Parts 1 and 2 provide a perfect marriage of methods. Percussion hinting at Industial and Techno is explored, while the constant Drone inflx and disintegration grab your attention, overlapping with rhythmic repetition deeper and deeper. To end is the ambience of Cass. Taken from the limited 'Hiding Place' cassette only album, the pieces here are the perfect completion. Found sounds, loops, piano, synthesis, all intertwine and overlap to bathe you in pause, a one last time call to stop and (un)listen.

Over 10,000 years ago, after the last Ice Age, humans began to explore and settle the place now known as Scotland. Evidence of our ancestors can be found in the various rock carvings, standing stones, tombs and dwellings still scattered throughout the lands today. Modern archaeological techniques can offer ever more detailed suggestions as to what these monuments might have meant, but it is still largely left to our imaginations to discern just what these spaces were used for.

In this spirit, Firecracker Recordings were approached by Forestry Commission Scotland to make something that might capture the feel of these places. They assembled a crack squad of artists (Lord Of The Isles, Other Lands, House Of Traps, Wounded Knee) whom they felt would embrace the challenge, thanks to their shared interest in their own Highland ancestries.

Visiting a handful of sites in an intense period of exploration late in 2014, they took field recordings, drank whisky, jammed in the ruins of brochs, studied rock art, sat in iron age forts, drank whisky, drove for many miles and generally began the process of channelling the shamanic forces (drank whisky) whose presence can still be felt all around.

This album is the result of that brief adventure. The artists worked both together and in isolation, quickly and effortlessly, manipulating the recordings taken from the source and combining them with their own compositions, inspired by both the sights they saw in this time and those they have imagined from another.

Here, they merge modern technologies with traditional instruments and the human voice to conjure up these ancient rites of celebration, ritual, offerings to long forgotten gods, changes in the features of the earth and the universe and the cycles of time.

Accompanying the music is a booklet of archaeological images created by Forestry Commission Scotland, detailing some of the sites around which the music is based, again utilising modern laser scanning technology to see these mysterious relics in a different light.

Carsten Nicolai's practice investigates the boundaries between visual and audio art forms within an integrated artistic approach. Influenced by scientific reference systems, Nicolai often engages mathematical patterns such as grids and codes, as well as error, randomisation and self-organising structures.

Under the pseudonym noto, Nicolai experiments with sound to create his own semiotic language, and acoustic and visual symbols. Random Groove is a new interactive and physical experiment that contains no music but rather a succession of grooves, several of which cross into one another, thereby creating a variety of pathways for the needle to follow when playing, making for a personal, tactile experience.

This edition has been created in celebration of the European premiere of unicolor, a new work by Carsten Nicolai, presented by The Vinyl Factory and taking place at Brewer Street Car Park from 24 June to 2 August 2015.

unicolor examines the psychology of colour perception. Submerged in panoramic wavelengths of blue, red, green and grey that grow, evaporate and meld into one another, the viewer is confronted with an infinite, visceral expanse of colour and sound.

After the earscape laid by SchleiBen 1 & 2, things take a twist for part 3 with a darker, deeper and downright trippier set of recordings. Just 1 track per side this is not for the faint-hearted but for real sonic explorers looking to tune in and drop out of musicial spheres. With an endless supply of production talent coming out of Dusseldorf, it seemed only right to shine a light on one of the more experimental and dare say, academic producers, in Florian Meyer aka Don't DJ. As co-founder of the Diskant label - home to Harmonious Thelonious - and one third of The Durian Brothers, Don't DJ is about pushing rhythmic boundaries. With just 2 EPs to date, a recent move to Berlin sees Florian broadened the emphasis to that of collaboration. Travelling back south to a studio deep in the Black Forest he pushes the link between polyrhythmic percussion and brooding electronics. Here, then is where you'll find Kosmose, a full 20 minutes of inspection and instropection. Be ready to let go. As almost light relief then, come the musical mind of Tropical Hi-Fi. A secretive figure living beyond the reaches in Northern Australia, his field recording inspired music is a revolation. Laying aside working with his sometime neighbours and friends Ariel Kalma and Mike Cooper, on his upcoming debut album, he provides a special "live" mix meets studio exploration. Folk, psychedelic, (fourth) world music, found sounds of his native habitat are all thrown in a beautiful mind-altering, growing, pulsating ultraworld. Justified and (un)listen.

Los Angeles DJ/Producer, Dfalt, has worn many hats over the years: current Creative Director/Co-Founder of fashion and art label, Daylight Curfew; Director of Marketing for famed hip-hop label, Def Jux; Digital marketing for hyper-buzzed hip hop duo, Run The Jewels.
Inspired at an early age while growing up in the Bay Area, Jason grew up with sounds aired over San Francisco's hip hop station, KMEL. Public Enemy's Bomb Squad, DJ Premiere, Dust Brothers, RZA, J Dilla, and even Aphex Twin have been highly influential in the growth of Jason's music.

The EP includes album tracks 'Get Your Fight On' (Re Eq) and 'Rhythm Bomb' feat. Flux Pavilion (Edit), two fresh remixes of album tracks 'The Day Is My Enemy' (Caspa) and 'Rebel Radio' (René LaVice) and the previously un-released, fan favourite 'AWOL'.

'AWOL' has been a track the band have played live since 2012 but as the album writing and recording process developed the band decided to hold AWOL back . Now, after reworking it into a new unheard version they feel it's time to make it available on record........ and limited cassette!

A former mainstay of the LA beat scene, Kutmah has been somewhat quiet on the release front since being deported from the United States and relocating to the UK. Now, the London-based producer has revealed plans to issue a new EP via the Technicolour imprint (helmed by UK producer PhOtOmachine). The forthcoming Our Mannequin EP will offer six original productions from Kutmah, while featuring LA producer/vocalist Seven Davis Jr and Zackey Force Funk on two separate tracks.

I had an appointment with James Stephenson an American friend from the 90s in NYC, heused to skip the American winter every year to be with the Hadzas bushmen and other Tanzanians tribes in Tanzania.Whilst there, James and I lost completely track of time and did not give a shit about what day Christmas was, or NewYears for that matter- with the majority of the planet knowing they were heading into the 21st Century.At some point end of December or early January 2000() we asked a group of Hadzas we were hanging out with, 'what'sthe date today' None understood the question but one Hadza who had been sent to school in the early 70s answeredthat we must be in 1975!Tanzania in 1999/2000, this intense trip away from all the millennium bullshit celebrations. I gathered all kinds of sounds,not only music, that expresses proximity and that was the first time I decided I was going to remix those raw recordingsinto a decent soundscape. It was also the first time I was pleased with the result- to go into a direction of redefining worldmusic, away from the commercial clichés. We are happy to announce the debut EP on Born Electric from multi-disciplinary musician, Matthias Voigt, aka Mias Void.
The signing of this track first began it's life for us as The Model's 'Trance' remix', which was easily the most 'I.D'd track from my sets over the past year, to the point where I've been receiving irate messages from YouTube commenters demanding to know it's name. We didn't want to let the cat out of the bag until we knew for sure we could release this bomb because the remix started it's life out as a bootleg of Matthias Vogt's excellent 'Bliss' track from 2011, realising that licensing it may not have been a possibility. Luckily Matthias is a kind and talented soul who decided this track would see new life under his Techno moniker 'Mias Void' and so 'Return to Bliss' was re-born anew. I've taken a lot of stick online from people whilst trying to keep this track under wraps and I originally asked Romanian Radu aka The Model not to share the remix with his DJ friends for the time being to which he humbly replied that he "didn't know many DJs in his Techno area who would play this Neo Trance stuff anyways'. Hearing this made just re-affirmed to me how huge his remix was and also how we all as music fans can write off amazing tracks because they don't happen to fit our idea of what is 'cool'. To push this point even further, upon hearing Ikonika's insanely fun eighties take on the Chvrches, we employed her for a remix and she delivered two racey Electro mixes, one 'club' and one 'pop' version. Alas, we needn't worry here about being cool here because the brand new slick interpretationfrom Mias himself has been garnering attention from the likes of Berghain / Panorama Bar regular oliver deutschmann, who upon hearing Mias play it requested a copy instantly. A perfect summer record, Colors Of The Sun was the CD-only debut album by Hatchback (Californian native Sam Grawe). A blissed-out 80-minute opus, its assured kaleidoscopic sound can only be described as 'Cosmic-Krautrock-Disco.'

Indeed, now the world has caught up with all things 'balearic', this album should soundtrack balmy terrace gatherings, Adriatic boat parties and domestic BBQs this summer.

Stretching out fully across four sides, the listener is enveloped in horizontal disco, Can-esque freeway trips and synth-led downtempo dreaminess. Allow "Nesso", the quietly strident opener, to glide over you before becoming entranced by the insistent motorik rhythms of "Everything Is Neu". The Lindstrom-endorsed "White Diamond" still startles whilst the percolating Rhodes-workout of "The Lotus and The Robot" gently soothes. Meanwhile, funk head-nodder "Closer to Forever" could've emerged from the same studio sessions as Steely Dan's Aja; yes, it's that good. Throughout, Hatchback crafts a sound quite unlike any other, as slo-moalmost-hip-hop beats underscore otherwise ambient pieces.

A record truly deserving of the deluxe Be With treatment, the vinyl was specially cut at Abbey Road whilst the original artwork has been pleasingly expanded. Now, an eye-catching gold-foil layer is set against the original red tones, wrapped up in a sumptuous gatefold jacket. Limited to a run of just 500 copies for the world, this release will surely be one to treasure.

Distal came to the musical world in 2010 with his first release on Soul Jazz Records. The immersive nature of the vector artwork for Retrograde Space Opera was conceived through a year-long collaborative effort between Distal and famed Argentinian artist Freschore. Each week they met and engineered every alcove of the universe together, from detailing the minutiae of the transportation system to the fashion differences between social strata.

Tove Styrke war gerade einmal neunzehn Jahre, als sie Anfang 2012 erstmals hierzulande auf sich aufmerksam machte: nachdem die junge Schwedin in ihrer Heimat einen kometenhaften Karrierestart hingelegt hatte, gelang ihr mit der Single "Call My Name" auch in Deutschland auf Anhieb der Chartentry: der catchy Uptempo-Electropop-Song erreichte die Top 50 der Media Control Charts. Im März 2012 folgte ihr selbst betiteltes Debütalbum, das in Schweden die Top Ten der Longplay Charts erreicht hatte. Im November 2014 legte die Sängerin und Songwriterin mit der "Borderline EP" fünf neuen Stücke vor, die u.a. in Zusammenarbeit mit Songwritern wie Annika Norlin, Linnea Henriksson, Janne Kask, Johan T Karlsson, Calle Ask und Produzent Christian Walz entstanden waren und sich nur schwerlich unter einem Genre-Begriff subsumieren lassen. Styrke selbst nennt als Einflüsse u.a. Gwen Stefani ("Love.Angel.Music.Baby"-Phase), Lykke Li und Squeeze (!). Zaquoir alias Matthias Groß is a producer and musician currently living in Leipzig. After sending us more than 10 GIGABITES of great music, we sat down together and tied a selection of his really eclectic styles of production together into one LP, creating some sort of showreel created in the timespan of over 15 years.

Zaquoir himself sees the record as a reminiscent mood of a donkey in the Sardinian sun and describes the record as a trip in itself, allowing the listener to traverse the lines of various acoustic landscapes.

The tracks on the LP where produced in six different places, including a historic house in the centre of Vilnius, the artist residency "Blumen" in Leipzig, a French-German art association and a village in Northern Bavaria.
