Having opened our account as a label with five interpretations of Youngstar's grime classic 'Pulse X', our first original artist EP comes from Birmingham-bred, Melbourne-based producer James Black, AKA Arctic.

The 'Pulse X Remixes' EP picked up widespread support across the board including radio play on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM and NTS, DJ support from B.Traits, Dark Sky, Last Japan, Brackles and more, and positive reviews from the likes of Fact, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, SPIN, the Independent and WIRE.

Following a well-received EP for label-to-watch Coyote Records, Arctic steps up to Liminal Sounds with three new original productions and a bonus VIP version that channel the visceral energy and raw experimentation of grime into potent, unpredictable and ultimately impactful club tracks. The EP also comes with the addition of a remix from Breen, who has been winning support from many of the scene's key tastemakers including Dusk & Blackdown, Logos and Slackk to name a few.

The EP has had early DJ support from Amy Becker (1Xtra), Brackles, Dusk & Blackdown, Filter Dread, Mumdance and Slackk, with radio play on Rinse FM. The EP announcement was premiered by Dummy Magazine and 'Seeps' was premiered by Sonic Router..

After the resoundingly well-received debut release from Roots & Future, DJ Madd has been hard at work building more tough soundsystem beats for his fledgling imprint. A surefire bet to keep steppas moving throughout the summer festival season, 002 presents a couple of contrasting takes on the reggae dubstep sound with a vocal collaboration, 'Homeland', on the A side and the heavily dubbed-out dread vibrations of 'Follow Dub' on the flip. Marina P's soulful verses dance over Madd's tightly-coiled basslines on Homeland, delivering plenty of groove, dashes of colourful melody and skanking rhythms. The smoky, FX-heavy textures of Follow Dub take the vibe deeper, with pneumatic sub-bass pressure and percussive syncopations cutting through the haze; eyes-down dubwise flavours reminiscent of the early DMZ classic era.

Soundvenue called out Beastie Respond as one of
the most promising artist in Denmark of the year
2013. Beastie Respond has proved that he is a
diverse artist with releases such as SYNCOPY and
BE QUIET but with the album format as his
playground this diversity truly becomes evident....

Thomas Siffling was one of the first German trumpet players who used electronic devices for extending his sound on the trumpet. For many years, he belongs to the pioneers of electronic influence in jazz. He is known as one of the most important representatives of the "young" German jazz scene and has made himself a name by numerous guest performances in Germany and foreign countries, i.e. Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Canada and numerous European states. He sees himself as a border crosser between various genres and connects in his music jazz forms with pop music and electronic elements without denying his musical roots at any point. He changes between natural sounds and specific
sound enlargements by the electronics on trumpet and flugelhorn in order to create for the listener a wonderful diverse sound experience. In 2005 he was awarded with the Jazz prize Baden Württemberg. Club des Belugas is one of the leading Nujazz bands in Europe, perhaps in the world. They combine contemporary European Lounge & Nujazz Styles with Brazilian Beats, Swing and American Black Soul of the fifties, sixties and
seventies using their unique creativity and intensity.

Narratives Music returns with release number five and with it a special collaborative single that brings some of Drum & Bass' biggest
names together to create one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year so far. With album projects on Exit Records and Non
Plus respectively, Loxy, Resound & ASC have been pushing their uncompromising sounds for years via some of the scenes freshest
and most forward thinking labels. This coming together with label owners Blocks & Escher has forged two highly contrasting but
intrinsically linked tracks.
The A Side sees the Narratives owners take on Loxy & Resound to create the tag team, melody led dancefloor effort, 'Monsters'.
Solid breaks, pads and retro synth chords lead into a hushed breakdown before firing off into a cauldron of percussion, subs and
wrenching reese edits. Never a label to stick to a formula, this track progresses into a different 'monster' altogether in the second half;
enfusing the intro's melodies with a new bassline that takes it to a more euphoric and meditative climax. With DJ Friction dropping
this track as a 'world exclusive first play' on his BBC Radio 1 show and D Bridge calling it a 'retro throwback for the future' on his
Rinse FM show, support has come thick and fast.
Continuing with the retro nod to real synths and melody, the flip pits Auxiliary head honcho ASC against Blocks & Escher in the ever
evolving 'Heliocentric'. This track welds the collaborators sounds firmly together, trademark breaks, ambiences and basses provide
the canvas for the constantly progressing musical motifs, pulsing fx and soaring chords. Vastly different in terms of execution and
mood but inimitably the sound we know from Narratives Music.

Ipman has established himself as a force to be reckoned with over the last couple of years, bringing a lethal combination of unfaltering creative freshness and no-nonsense soundsystem pressure to the table. His music is held in high regard by Kryptic Minds, and this August sees them welcome Ipman to the Osiris Music UK crew to drop two blackened cuts of bruising tech-edged weaponry for the imprint's 32nd release. The results are unreservedly dark and punishing, with 'Persistent Dread' driven by hypnotising sub bass body-blows that punch beneath a jagged swell of menacing sound design and mazing glitch melodies. The flip features the fierce rolling beats of 'Signal Motion', a lurching stomper that hits hard with chest-caving intent; deft snarls of mechanised snyths and titanium-grade kicks accent waves of deep dread frequency. A monstrous debut Osiris 12' from Ipman, as both label and artist continue to make serious moves in 2013.

Along the west coast of Co Kerry in Ireland you will
find the amazing Valentia Island.
Attached by a bridge to the mainland, it is a place of
beauty touched by years of history and the songs of
the sea.
I managed to obtain a house there for a few weeks,
I took my computer and mic with me not knowing
what to expect when I got there.
In one of the rooms sat a piano, and as my fingers
touched the keys I knew there was a story there
waiting to be told.
The sound of the piano in that place was something
very magical as 100mph winds battered the house
and interrupted my recordings.
Other material has since emerged from those days
spent on the island, but the main body of work that I
recorded there makes up this album that I now
present to you.

LuckyMe are proud to present 'Champagne Sounds' the first in a two part series introducing a distinct new talent; young Brooklyn producer Sam Obey (birth name) AKA Obey City pronounced: oh-bee-sit-ee.

Although this is his first full international release, Obey City has been a fixture of the New York club scene for many years. Sam runs the Astro Nautico label and their associated parties at the Freecandy Gallery and Arts Centre in Crown Heights. As Benii B of BBC Radio One witnessed and cited last year - there is a New-New York emerging around warehouse soundsystems where young djs and producers are ignoring dance genre and building communities and audiences that merge the performance-art spirit of The Kitchen with the experimentation of London's DMZ. An open playground of dance genres far off the grid; out of site from this pivotal city's great music publications. It's with great pride LuckyMe gets to play a small part in an exciting new movement unconcerned with any rules or commerce. In Sam we have signed a quiet, unassuming lynchpin of an important city at an important time - he records for LuckyMe, runs Astro Nautico, DJs and produces for Flatbush Zombies and a constant collaborator and recording engineer for New York's latest R&B vocalists. Sam Obey is a producer, proper. Someone deserving that titles original context.

Introduced to us by Machinedrum 3 years ago - Sam Obey was a perfect fit for LuckyMe. This is dance music. It's hip hop influenced. At times it's intensively detailed and hyper active. Others it's refined and concerned only with harmony. This music carries a unique voice steeped in Slow Jams, Prog & Gospel. But Sam can't ignore the club and the outcome is a vision of R&B in 2013, made with the grandeur of Quincy Jones and the snap of Jahlil Beats.

Opener Reflect Effect sets the scene by building to ever more histrionic heights - submerging into Quantum Phase which pairs southern military drum work outs with warm jazz chords and ridge- racer-esk topline. Tell Her rains arps on a wistful piano to close Side A. Turning the vinyl, Uptown Pumps eludes to House influences but can't stay contently minimal, expanding into a storming half time in 7/8. Cyber Stream is a bold and upfront club weapon built on a parray of triplets. Finally, our closer Fallin': a joyous romantic epic that perhaps best captures the spirit of Obey City. It's agonizingly beautiful and with a vocal by Oliver Day Soul is a hint of thing to come as we pull focus on his completely vocal follow up, Merlot Sounds, out later this year.

ARTKL009 plunges into the dense sounds of Netherlands based producer TMSV. The A side embarks on a tribalistic excursion into deep, sub driven dubstep. Choice vocal sampling pins this hard hitter as a favourite for all the sensi smokers out there. Distinct percussive elements mark 'Haze' with a rampant swing that accentuates the rolling movement in the bass line. Crisp is the key word when thinking about the sounds on the A side. Clean cut sounds stand strong in the composition, leaving the listener craving more of that potent fusion of fresh sampling, hefty bass weight, & ancestral drum elements.For the flip, LX ONE offers up his rendition of 'Haze' on a more half-step oriented platform. With that breath-taking bass line and signature LX ONE sound, the remix packs tremendous sub pounding potential. Crafted around the original version, LX ONE picks apart the vibe salvaging his own strain of sound from within. A serious steppa with gritty mids and prevalent ambient detail.'Damage' sits as the digital exclusive for this monstrous EP, boasting a more rigid and aggressive sound. TMSV lays down an militant drum line backed by sinister mid range sounds. Never leaving the atmospheric out of things, this track boasts a fully consuming vibe drawn from dreamy synth notes. RP Boo - a.k.a. Kavain Space is a man who is revered and respected amongst the dance music cognoscenti. He's cited as one of the originators of Footwork, the fast, repetitive, rhythmically syncopated music & dance style that's a grandchild of Chicago house and which has been brought to the wider world via releases from Planet Mu and others, alongside internet archaeology from fans, experts and enthusiasts. Going back to the roots of this music, his self released track 'Baby Come On' made in 1997, sampled and looped up ODB over tough syncopated drums, and in doing so spawned one of the first tracks to solidify the style called Footwork. Later on, in 1999, his track known as '11-47-99' a.k.a. The Godzilla Track was monumental in the evolution of sampling in footwork, chopping up the Godzilla theme taken from 'Simon Says', by Pharoahe Monche and setting off a trend for footwork versions of hip-hop tracks. Many cite RP Boo as the originator of footwork music, and it's hard to argue, when the scrambled, syncopated drum patterns common to footwork can be largely traced back to him. Kavain was born in West Chicago and moved to the Southside in the 80s. Like many of footwork's originators, he was brought through into production through associations with the legendary House and Juke dance clique House-O-Matics, DJing alongside DJ Deeon and DJ Milton, then getting shown how to produce by DJ Slugo. The machine Kavain learnt to produce on was a display model of the Roland R-70, a drum machine which gave access to all previous Roland drum sounds and the ability to punch in rhythms on the fly, it's the machine he still uses today. RP Boo's music is singular and unusual in Footwork, featuring raps and dialogue adopted from Juke, often in combination with sharp-edged and incidental samples giving some tracks a paranoid atmosphere. Take '187 Homicide's bleak feeling and question and answer vocals, 'Area 72's alien landing scenario or 'Speaker's R-4's audio walk-through. His music is often hectic, seemingly built to to almost psyche-out the listener or offer challenges to dancers; it's this playful and imaginative quality, along with his sometimes baffling-but-it-works rhythms and sub, that give RP's tracks their totally unique feel.

*Unmistakably from Bristol, the group would be hard pushed to avoid comparisons with Portishead & Massive Attack. While sharing sonics with the former, and the gang mentality of the latter, Young Echo update the Bristol Sound will the collective knowledge of Dubstep, Grime, Techno & Garage.

Until now, Alec Storey has been known as Al Tourettes, the pseudonym under which he has released on labels like Applepips, AUS and Hypercolour s offshoot Sneaker Social Club. He collaborated with close friend Appleblim on Underworld s latest album, and on a remix for Luke Slater s Planetary Assault Systems. A regular performer at both Fridays and Saturdays at fabric, and Bloc Weekenders and club nights, his greatest achievement to date has been soundtracking Natalie Portman s first (fictional) ecstasy experience in Darren Aronofsky s Oscar-winning movie Black Swan. Leaving the Al Tourettes alias behind, Alec now joins the Houndstooth roster as Second Storey, as he is to be known henceforth, with his unique brand of colourful psychedelic electronic music, rooted in bass-heavy soundsystems and festival culture. The Margosa Heights EP is made for fans of Drexciya, Appleblim, Shackleton, Pearson Sound and T++.

An artist with minimal online presence and who
keeps himself to himself, Commodo is one of an
increasingly rare few who make waves through the
strength of their music alone. He builds bass-
focussed beats with soul and substance that never
perpetuate a formula, distancing himself from
contemporaries with ingenious sampling and sound
design influenced by his long-time affinity with the
vibrancy of hiphop. Regardless of whether it's the
tough, dread-pressurised bassweight of his
dancefloor-leaning productions or the tonally rich
and immersive qualities of his more cerebral work,
his scrupulous studio techniques are evidenced by
the resounding freshness and longevity of his tracks
both new and old. His inherently unique and
accomplished production style earned him
recognition right from the outset of his ascendancy,
and garnered early attention from a host of key
figures within the dubstep community, landing 12"s
on Untitled! and Black Box before finding a natural
home for his music at the bastion of low frequency
excellence, Deep Medi Musik.

When it comes to reggae dub-step there's only one name you need to know for 2013 and that is Killa Mosquito. This new up and coming production team is making big waves on the electronic-reggae-dub-step scene which has previously been a relatively untapped genre. To kick start the year off they've come up with an absolute corker of a track entitled 'Computer'. This fresh tune features a funky dub-step beat covered in reggae bass-lines with a host of chopped up samples, organs riffs and a great big booming mix fit for stadiums. If that wasn't enough they've also managed to procure the services of the legendary reggae artist Macka B, who is renowned for his clever and thought provoking lyrics. This time he is making sharp observations about the computer age we live in and how it is turning us all into robots. British-born Macka B has been a performer and activist with a career spanning thirty years. He has toured and performed with the likes of Burning Spear, The Wailers and Lee Perry, so it is a great honour having him perform on this track. Killa Mosquito have also secured the services of other fantastic guest artists, so keep an eye out for their future releases. 'Computer' feat. Macka B will be released on the Necessary Mayhem Black record label, on Monday 26th August 2013.

*Following well-received releases for Box Clever and Innamind, one of the discoveries of 2012 drops his most anticipated dubplate via Black Box, flipped with a formidable remix courtesy of Thelem.
'U Wont Mind' is instantly recognisable as the work of Gantz, with his incessant chopped vocals, counter-intuitive rhythmic switches and dystopian sonic aesthetic. Stop-start beats, pushy sub-bass and cavernous laser shots combine to activate the body but disorient the brain.
*Thelem fires the track into space with his sci-fi slanted remix - cavernous bass drops, computerised FX and nagging AI vocals turn Gantz' original into a Y3K dub anthem.

*What's striking about J Kenzo's tracks is how few elements they contain, but how powerfully each is utilised - previous Tempa singles such as 'The Roteks' and 'Ruffhouse' reduced dubstep to its very essence, leaving only the barest essentials required to shake a dancefloor to the foundations.

*Indeed, it was a Tempa 12" - the first dubstep 12" he bought - that first inspired Kenzo to start producing. Having grown up on soul, reggae and rare groove before delving deep into jungle, drum & bass and later garage, when he first came across the sound developing at FWD>> and DMZ, something clicked. As he honed his production skills, he began to draw those wide musical influences into his tracks, and it wasn't long before DJs such as scene figurehead Youngsta began drawing heavily for Kenzo's music.

*Each of the tracks on the 'Bloodlines EP' takes a drastically different approach - from the Blade Runner-esque synths of 'Enter Valarak' to the ultra-percussive whirlwind of 'Ricochet', and from the pulsating and direct 'Cause And Effect' to the dark bass stabs of title track 'Bloodlines'.

*There's astonishing depth contained within Nomine's music. His debut for Tempa, released in February, 'Nomine's Sound / Searching' took dubstep into altogether more tropical territories. His three-track follow up, released 8th July, continues his progressive trend.

*Echo-drenched melodies drift like a distant brass chorus, sub-bass as soft and powerful as an ocean current, and turbulent, continually shifting percussion abound across 'Nomine's War'.

*The mysterious Nomine's debut 12" for Tempa takes dubstep into altogether more tropical territories. The fluid textures and east Asian melodies of its two tracks conjure up images of a future London fried by global warming, where rising sea levels are sinking the city below the waves.

*The paranoiac bass and claustrophobic melodies of 'Anxiety Tribe' are aptly suited to the name, while the languid closing track '128.1' trots along a full 10 beats per minute slower than most dubstep tracks, propelled along by disembodied voices and a ghostly breakdown section, it completes a unique take on the sound.

*Nomine's tracks first found their way into the world during a guest mix from Amit on Youngsta's Rinse FM show, before growing outwards from there and being supported by the likes of Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Plastician, VIVEK, Toddla T, Annie Mac and Nihal.
