experiment, take risks and truly progress. This has been demonstrated by the fact we now have artists writing music specifically for
the Horo series.
Through the 9, vinyl only Horo releases up to this point, the label has proudly introduced the world to NZ artist Fis, and released some
of the most adventurous and truly forward thinking music in electronica from artists ASC, Sam KDC, Kiyoko, Indigo, Clarity &

NYTA hails not from the Big Apple, but from Bristol,
UK. His real name is Mensah Anderson, who is also
the seasoned producer that you probably know
simply as Mensah. The NYTA guise focuses on
being a fresh outlet for his 120 - 130bpm 80's
Electro, House & Techno influenced tracks &
creations.
The 'New York Transit Authority' name was first
adopted for a split 12 release with Conqueror
(Redlight) on Redlight's Lobster Boy label last year.
His side was a slinky, 808 house number entitled
'Off The Traxx', which deservedly found its way into
FACT's 50 best tracks of the year & was caned by a
wide range of top DJs across the globe - including
Joe Goddard, Loefah, Redlight, Boddika,
Jackmaster, Disclosure, Pearson Sound, Benji B &
Giles Peterson to name just a few.

Noisia & Foreign Beggars are extremely proud to present I Am Legion's much anticipated self-titled, 16 track, debut album.
"The album was made during countless sessions (no more than 40 full studio days max) over the last five years. Many passes of production and scrutiny reached every track, alongside a plethora of feedback spread sheets and whiteboard summaries. We never set a deadline for ourselves; the whole idea of a full album only took shape later in the process when we realized how much material we had generated and how cool it could be to put it out as one big thing." I Am Legion nods to rap's erstwhile forays into electronica, absorbing elements of its present whilst laying out a reassuringly disturbed vision of what's to come.

With fans like Amon Tobin, Skrillex and Noisia (who've signed them to their Division Recordings label), you'd expect Neosignal to offer something different - and the German duo (aka drum & bass heroes Phace & Misanthrop) certainly don't disappoint. Their debut album 'Raum und Zeit' including the single 'Planet Online' is out now! Their influences range from Can to Kraftwerk and Joy Division to Led Zeppelin, and, while their music has elements of early Krautrock, industrial and 80's EBM (electronic body music), its powered by 21st century, bass-driven production.

Inspired by a background in classical percussion and an obsession with synthesizers, Jeremy Malvin creates music under the name Chrome Sparks. The project kicked off in mid 2012 with the release of 'Marijuana', a thumping, fluttering piece of electronica that set the internet alight. 'Marijuana' finally sees official release as part of Chrome Sparks' debut EP 'Sparks', a 6-track exhibition of Future Funk. From contemplative opener 'Your Planets' to the anthemic 'Send The Pain On, this EP demonstrates Malvin's affinity for synthesizers, unusual sound combinations and sample manipulation. Dutch producer Arts The Beatdoctor is set to release his newest work, collaborating with pioneering label Lowriders Recordings. This EP, titled "Lazy Thunder", marks a significant change to his trademark sound. Breaking away from his former "laid back" style displayed on 2007's Transitions (Unexpected Records), 2008's Progressions EP (Beats Broke) and his releases with The Q4 (Project: Mooncircle), this new EP continues the trend already hinted at in his recent remixes: Still present are the hypnotic loops and deep atmospheres, but the setting has changed from the lounge area to the main stage. "I don't consider it a complete change of style, but the new songs definitely feature a heavier more distinct sound". Arts. "I can't wait to tour with these tracks". As before, the songs are compositions rather than beats. In every track you'll find great sensibilities in the sound design that seem to intertwine with harsh and aggressive sounds, creating a theme for the whole EP. This holds true from opener IL404, with its 8-bit arpeggios and whipping snaresound, to the distorted Hip-Hop grooves of Moebius' Travels. The tempo goes down for Little Brother, a slow brooding track featuring the beautiful but somehow unnerving vocals of Ella (of Dutch indiepopgroup Houses fame), to pick up again for Ghost In The Machine, which features a similar brooding character, but takes it up a notch with a raw choppy bassline and headnod-inducing offbeat drums. Remixes come courtesy of upcoming talent Sam a la Bamalot, whose version of Moebius' Travels explores the harmonic possibilities of the main melody in the original, and Flako, who delivers a stunning remix of IL404 with his trademark sound and vocals. This release comes with coloured vinyl and full colour sleeve.

Kasket (aka Charlie Baldwin) returns to Apollo with his second EP.
Warm Regards, a collection of four songs left to simmer with traces of ambient, jazz, and dance rhythms, opens in dramatic fashion with a majestic title track of billowing synths and plaintively struck chords that serves as an ideal introduction to Kasket's most realised work yet. "Give It A Name" continues the evolution of swirling piano, soft-hued synths and live percussion at a markedly faster tempo, punctuated by sweeping trumpet lines that give the song a cinematic sheen.
The mood lightens with the playful, elastic bounce of "Bad Connection", Kasket's most ambitious exercise in syncopated jazz improvisation yet. Ascending keys ripple over a strutting double bass into loose, free-form territory until "Between Sleep and Dreams" concludes the EP with a symphonic flourish that utilises strings, acoustic drums, and digital filters to create a track of refined emotional power. A stirring closer to Warm Regards that demands repeated listens, this closing song allows the listener to fully appreciate the grand scope of Kasket's latest release in his progression from the dancefloor to somewhere new entirely

Die Soundgewalt aus Hip Hop-Beats, Industrial und Techno hat jetzt auch etwas, ja, Anmutiges. Mit Lorns Album verhält es sich so, als würde eine Dampfwalze über kleine Blechhütten hinwegfegen, würde dabei aber von zarten Feen gelenkt. Man sieht die grazilen Gestalten in der Fahrerkabine erst nicht; zu beeindruckend ist die Walze. Die Walze auf »Ask The Dust« bezogen sind die Drums, die sich oft anhören, als würde eine Peitsche auf Sand schnalzen. Die Walze sind die knatternden Basslines, die hallenden Synthies. So entsteht eine kantige, dunkle Soundfassade. Sieht man das jedoch nicht als Hindernis, sondern erkennt das Faszinierende daran, dann offenbaren sich dahinter immer wieder helle Flecken. Dass Lorn inzwischen seine eigene Stimme einsetzt trägt dazu bei; aber auch minimale Frequenzverschiebungen der Synthies, oder Passagen ohne Drums öffnen die teils brachialen Strukturen. Das ist auch das Konzept des Album-Highlights »Diamonds«. Es ist ein Ritt durch die Unterwelt, der an einem surreal hellen Ort endet. Die hetzenden Streicher, die klagende Sirene und der brutale Bass: Es ist mit der einnehmenste Song, den ich 2012 erlebt habe. An diese Qualität reichen bei weitem nicht alle Tracks; Lorns bestes Album ist es nichtsdestotrotz.

GUTTS are a jaded wrestling double act that were much celebrated in the 'Golden Era' of UK wrestling in the 1980's. After a slow-
decline into inactivity and relative obesity they decided to make a comeback in 2013 as an electronic music band called GUTTS. Both
Neil Landstrumm and Alan Hostage have recently reached peak-fitness through circuit training and eating salad for dinner, toning up
for this new heavy-hitting vinyl release on Glasgow's Horror Boogie. Both were last seen, exiting Landstrumm's analogue graveyard
shouting "Not the ears, not the ears" and "I demand to be treated like a sultan" . No further details were available at this time.

Tempa082 isTruth's third release on Tempa, following last year's Devil's Hands. Featuring two tracks - 'Empire' and acollaboration with Stylust Beats titled 'Chicks & Drugs'. Both retain the cinematic, expansive aesthetic that the NewZealand duo have established on their previous releases for Tempa and labels such as Deep Medi and Disfigured Dubz.

*The chimes and industrial drones that open 'Empire' rack up tension to snapping point, before the track grinds to life insalvoes of intricate percussion, plunging sub- bass and the crunch of metal on metal. With its vaguely tongue-in-cheekopening chant, 'Chicks & Drugs' seems a slight departure from the intense, dread sens- ations of 'Empire'. But when it drops inpunctuated tidal waves of sub-bass and a sparse halfstep beat, it's just as intense and immersive as we've come toexpect from the duo.

The first release from Shoot Recordings is an absolute scorcher, and showcases the new label's dedication to forward-thinking sounds and dance floor annihilation.

First up is The Original, a weighty stepper from @ChrissyMurderbot (Loose Squares) that's part Chicago juke, part Bristol jungle and all heavy-duty funk. Sporting a half-step intro that drops out into the biggest swooping bassline this side of the classic '26 Bass,' The Original has an old school feel but definitely earns its name. It's also guaranteed to steam up the club like a hookah in the sauna.

Answering the challenge, Pawn (Smog) @pawnsound delivers Your Words, another beyond-genre bass monster that takes it deep without ever losing its dance floor sheen. Described by label boss @Calculon as 'dirty bass music at its finest,' Your Words is a sick amalgamation of Miami bass, dubstep, juke, hip-hop and malt liquor that could murder the subwoofer in your Impala or twerk your girlfriend off a riser in Ibiza. Next level shit and frankly like nothing you've heard before.

A: Daat - 1999. 'The year is 1999. Gangs have taken control. We're beginning to fall...' This warning brings in the track, broadcast over a barren urban wasteland. Without wasting any time the beat jumps to full strength, and shifts through subtle transformations before ending abruptly and destructively. Futurist science fiction set in an alternative past, with heavy filtered bass.

B: Daat & Dominic Ridgway - Crashes. This is for those who have felt the weight of reality bear down suddenly upon them. It begins innocently at the moment of disaster, and steps---with a lively beat reminiscent of early-90s hip hop with a Wax Doctor turn-progressively towards acceptance and ultimately empowerment.

Ptay is the vinyl debut on NoMad for Luca Mucci aka Piezo. The track is really what we consider a "dancefloor train" without renouncing to the IDM details that are the main characteristics of Piezo's productions. The deep and dark attitude and the minimalistic approach of this release are amplified by the audio trap well weaved by Killawatt: the best remixer we could have on NoMad to celebrate and valorize the Piezo's talent, having built in these years his reputation on innovation and attention to details.

This excellent label follows up Jab Jab from Grenada and juke from Chicago with rough, ramped, Bristolian, new-school-old-school dubstep from the Pennine way.

Good things come to those who wait: the second release on the Crazylegs label finally arrives in the form of an incendiary solo debut from Nottingham's Toyc. That's 'toy see' — a name you're likely to hear popping up quite a bit over the coming months.
Fresh from guest appearances on Boiler Room and BBC Radio 1, Ruffer and Keyframe represent a bold snapshot of Toyc's unique sound: two dangerous slabs of light-footed, elastic bassweight that you may well recognise from the sets of Jackmaster and Ben UFO.

Backing up the originals, an old vs new-skool grime soundclash, if you will — 8 bar pioneer Youngstar and thrilling Belfast newcomer Bloom run amok with versions of Keyframe. And finally the inimitable Danny Native twists Ruffer into one of the most menacing pieces of dance music you'll hear all year.

Macabre Unit Digital makes it's third foray into the world of the vinyl press in the shape of MUV003. Unit commander Demon takes one side, fresh from his numero uno 'Boneyard EP' on MUD, and colab with Biome on MUV002, and the ever present DCult holds it down on the flip, having featured on the first MUV press.Demon kicks off with Frostbite, eerily shuffling into earshot, creating a threatening sense of anticipation with moody tones and teases of weight sneaking out amongst restrained drums. It snaps into the type of face-pulling neck-snapper Demon is reknowned for, electrifying stabs and growls sitting around precise, clean percussion, whilst being powered along by a juggernaut of a sub undercurrent. DCult's offering sounds like armaggedon, haunting and tentative from the off, before an injection of post-apocalyptic snarls add a sinister hint of what is to come. Sliver kicks into action, eastern vocals rise as the snarls dart in, each time with more brutal intensity, as the percussion marches forward, before breaking into an almost tribal vibe over driving low end weight. Macabre sounds!

12 vinyl only. The first entry into the Templar Sound white label series comes via Sydney savant Dro Carey. Carey's N.R. beat is the centrepiece of this vinyl-only release. The track is a menacing hybrid of rapid-fire martial 808s and uncompromising sub-low bass, indebted in equal parts to Black Ops and Mobb Deep.Grime don J-Sweet forges his own uncompromising version turning the instrumental into a brutal piece of 8-bar weaponry guaranteed to cause damage in the rave. The A-side of the record is reserved for a vocal of the N.R. beat by South London's Merky Ace with the MC riding the track with ease, his vicious flow effectively kept in check by Carey's brooding instrumental.

Dubkasm give us yet further access to their dubplate box and, after many years of anticipation, they unleash 'Jah Bible' on ten-inch vinyl for all soundsystem massive. For those who remember, this track became an anthem on the mighty Aba Shanti-I Sound during the late 1990's. Requested regularly at the legendary University of Dub sessions in London and always gaining an immediate forward! Ras Addis takes us through biblical history with his rasta reasoning before we move head-on into the realms of dub. All tracks are mixed by Aba Shanti at his London studio and this disc offers three cuts with each one plunging deeper into the chasm. The track Raw Mix is, in particular, soundsystem dubplate business to the core, extreme cut-outs and vocals echoed into oblivion it's Aba at his most raw.

Continuing in a strong and revitalised form that has seen widespread recognition for releases from Synkro, Troy Gunner, Szare and Stickman, Mindset Records return with a debut 12' for longtime friend of the label, Elsewhere.Hailing from the same rural locale as sometime production partner Stickman, Elsewhere's infinitely technical productions bear the hallmarks of a studio obsessive, with production values of a higher level helping to deliver three tracks of a unique quality. With productions informed partly by seminal trips to London to stand in front of DMZ soundsytems, Elsewhere reworks the dystopian dread and power of that sound into something entirely new, with lead track Trippin already finding its way into the record bags of kkord, Lone, Troy Gunner and more.Bott Bott displays intense dynamics with a smartly deployed vocal and a ruthless subbass underpinning a ferocious UK funky influenced drumtrack whilst The Espers comes with alternating slices of rude UKG swagger and some subtle atmospheric work.

2012 sees Hemlock's 20th release after four years at the frontline of forwardlooking bass music and dark electronica.
To mark the occasion Hemlock boss Untold has curated a 65-minute mix joining the dots between the label's past, present and
future. 'Chapter One' weaves his favourite moments from the back catalogue with a series of exclusive material from FaltyDL,
Randomer, Joe, Sei A, Guy Andrews and Untold himself. The beautifully packaged CD will be released alongside three 12" vinyls
containing exclusive music.
From modest beginnings in the heady days of dubstep's conception, Hemlock - founded by producer Jack Dunning (AKA Untold) and
designer Andy Spencer in 2008 - quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the sprawling, and often confused, world of UK bass
music.
Since then, the label has steadily forged its own curious path, building an enviable back catalogue and garnering a reputation along
the way for zeitgeistdefining releases.
It also has a reputation for discovering incredible new talent. It was Hemlock that introduced the world to the James Blake, whose
debut release 'Air & Lack Thereof' saw the light in 2009, and was followed by his seminal 'Stop What You're Doing' remix later that
year.
As well as some phenomenal new talent, Hemlock has also been a place where established producers can find a home for their more
surprising, spontaneous or downright deranged music. Key moments include Untold's game-changing 'Gonna Work Out Fine' EP in
2010, Pangaea's jungle-inspired 'Hex' and 'Fatalist', and Ramadanman (AKA Pearson Sound's) seminal 808 anthem, 'Glut'. With the
likes of Cosmin TRG, LV, Mount Kimbie, Girl Unit and Funkineven also passing through their halls, the roster now reads like a who's
who of bass music talent.
'Chaper One', as you'd expect from Untold by now, is anything but your average mix. It takes as many twists and turns as Hemlock's
back catalogue and reflects the story of not just the label's evolution, but also the evolution of the music scene it spawned from.
Starting briskly, it jumps through percussive workouts from Fantastic Mr. Fox and Mount Kimbie, soon blunted with the bassweight of
the half-step anthems 'Air & Lack Thereof' and 'Discipline'. The section climaxes into the psychedelic organ studies from James
Blake's 'Stop What You're Doing' remix before gradually fading into an icy noise speckled mid-section.
Cosmin TRG's brutally sparse 'Béton Brut' crumbles into the muzzled chimes of 'Under' - one of Untold's most ambiguous cuts to
date. The panic reigns through FaltyDL's 'Artemis', picking up momentum into the metallic jacking 4/4 kicks of Sei A's 'Hyphen'. Guy
Andrews cements the groove with the epic 'Resistivity', morphing into a broken tribal drum workout towards the end. Randomer then
picks up the funk with 'This Train', before getting nasty with 'We Laugh, We Scream'.
The final section explores the label's fascination with reconfiguring the hallmarks of jungle and drum 'n' bass, with the rowdy MC
chatter on 'Fatalist' sparring with the rugged bleeps and bass of 'Studio Power On', and the sinister Reece synths of 'Motion the
Dance'. After the last onslaught the mix fades out to the calming neon glow of Nautiluss & Lord Skywave's 'Ultraviolet'.
With 'Chapter One' documenting their past and earmarking possibilities for future exploration, Hemlock looks set to fearlessly guide
brave listeners into the next chapter of uncharted frequencies.

Stepping up to the plate are a freshly signed act considered by many to be a driving force behind the underground sound. Kaiju
recently teased dub connoisseurs with a handful of root marinated flavours on their infamous Rinse FM appearance. Kaiju's arrival on
Lion Charge is a testament to their versatile value and engineering expertise within sub-bass constructs.
Echoing the offbeat aesthetics of soundsystem music, LIONCHG003 is a hypnotic roller of dubwise riddims and dread-line melodies.
'Unity Dub' progresses under syncopated piano chords, and scattered horn riffs effortlessly mixed with accentuated guitar licks.
Exercising dub fundamentals, Kaiju place prominence on the drive of the bass skank groove and one-drop rhythm drumbeat. One for
the steppers.
'Rudebwoi', an extension of the dubbed out formula, opens with a classic reggae organ-shuffle before a vocal signals a vibrant flow
of staccato style piano chords, King Tubby guitar licks, and reverb-soaked horns sealed in a swirl of invigorating drum patterns. Once
again, Kaiju capture the Lion Charge vibe through smokey siren riffs and rugged trench town subs for good measure.

Mindset celebrate their 15th release with a solid remix EP from Djrum & ASC. First in a series that will see some of the finest cuts from
the Mindset back catalogue reworked by the labels favourite producers. The A side shows Djrum working his diverse range of
influences and intricate production techniques in his epic 11 minute rework of Synkro's 'Look At Yourself' from Mindset008. On the
flip, long time friend of Mindset & head of the influential 'Auxilary Music' label ASC slows down the tempo from his usual 170 outings
with a techno remix of Szares 'Leaning Towers Of Concrete' from Mindset011.

*11th volume in Tempa's prestigious Dubstep Allstars series - the original dubstep compilation series - The only dubstep compilation to contain real dubstep tracks by the best current artists, and road-tested by real dubstep DJ's - contains no 'dubstep' remixes of pop songs.

*Mixed by one of the most prolific producers in the scene - A regular host on Rinse FM, Kenzo has toured in recent months in Japan, North America, and Europe - Packed with exclusive tracks from labels like Metalheadz, Exit Records, and Shogun Audio. - Four exclusive tracks come from J:Kenzo's forthcoming 'Bloodlines EP' on Tempa

*Over the last few years, a series of acclaimed releases through Tempa, including his 2012 self-titled debut album, have established J:Kenzo at the forefront of a growing wave of new dubstep producers. His Dubstep Allstars: Vol. 11 offers a fresh perspective on the genre - a vision of dubstep still defiantly focused on physical impact and sonic experimentation. 'There's a new wave of producers making more progressive music, and I wanted to represent that' explains Kenzo.

*The mix opens with a call-to-arms, as the technoid percussion of Kryptic Minds & Killawatt's 'Cunning Juncture' explodes into AMIT's aptly titled 'Don't Forget Your Roots'. Its dub-infused sound pays homage to the genre's earliest incarnations while also hinting toward new innovations to come. The diversity of Kenzo's selections shows off the variation present within this growing scene - all manner of influences are present, from techno and ambient music to drum & bass, two-step and grime. Indeed, many of these new producers cut their teeth in other genres before finding that dubstep offered an ideal shared space within which to experiment.

*The mix contains four brand new, as-yet-unreleased tracks by Kenzo, each of which takes a drastically different approach - from the beautiful, Blade Runner-esque synths of 'Enter Valarak' to the ultra-percussive whirlwind of 'Ricochet'. These four tracks will be released on the 'Bloodlines EP', available on 2x12" and digital from 15 July 'With this type of music you have to forget about big synth lines or obvious uplifting styles, you have to just go in there and just absorb it,' enthuses Kenzo. 'It's what you feel from the music, and how you feel in the dance too - you feel the impact. All the tunes are tried and tested, they work on a sound system, some of the basslines will take your head off. For this mix I wanted to encompass the emotion of the tracks and their heaviness as well.'

*In the space of two short years, Kahn has made a deep impression on the electronic music landscape.
Starting with a debut on Peverelist's institution Punch Drunk, a rite of passage for any new Bristol-based artist, Kahn proceeded to release on a number of well-respected imprints including Idle Hands, Deep Medi and his own Bandulu Recordings. His music draws effortlessly on wide-reaching influences, touching on soulful UK Garage, bristling grime and shimmering, technicolor hiphop. Alongside his solo productions and busy DJ schedule, Kahn is also a member of the hotly-tipped Young Echo crew - a loose collection of musical collaborators, who broadcast marathon Ustream sessions from their underground bunker, and whose debut compilation is due for release in March 2013.
*Now ready to deliver his most ambitious record to date, Kahn has drawn on his rich and varied influences to build an EP which expands beyond grime and dubstep and into more classic Bristol territory, inhabiting a musical space which shares direct lineage as much with Nellee Hooper and the Wild Bunch as it does more recent tropes. Featuring a turn from grime legend Flowdan as well as Rider Shafique and Young Echo emcee J a b u, this will also be the first record to showcase Kahn's own vocals."

Lorn has always had a distinctive way with form and texture, from 2010's 'Nothing Else' on Brainfeeder to 'Ask The Dust' on Ninja Tune last year. On this new EP for Ninja tune he makes beats clatter and crackle with menace and powerful dark intent. Field recordings scrape up against guitars and and crumbling synthesizers, the drops are cavernous, radiating doom and drama. Throughout it sounds like noises are being pulled apart, each sound stretched, bent and twisted to the limit. That slightly unbalanced aesthetic adds to the majesty. 'Debris' is a work of sound architecture that is all the more incredible for sounding like it could all implode at any second. A masterful record of darkness and tension that occupies a haunting, hard-edged space all its own

Subaltern Records is a new label whose goal is to support quality Bass Music. With support from the likes of BunZer0, Syte, DJ Foster and Fable, Mentha and Murk's 1992 leads the first of many upcoming releases in the Subaltern Records catalogue.
