George Fitzgerald - Shackled Ep

Hotflush presents the third single from George FitzGerald: 'Shackled'. Having already dropped two excellent EPs for Aus and Man Make Music this year, George returns on Hotflush Two with three tracks embodying the style he has matured over the last two years. Using a sonic palette that melts the emotive flavors of UK garage & soulful house into a slower amalgam of dubstep and techno, this emerging London producer offers his own suave and enticing blend of bass music. 'Shackled' has already made a distinct impression as a standout track on Scuba's DJ Kicks mix compilation released in October.

Mount Kimbie - Carbonated

After releasing their debut album 'Crooks and Lovers' last summer to huge critical acclaim and racking up numerous end of year lists including the shortlist for Guardian's First Album Award, plus sell out tours in North America, Australia and Europe, London duo Mount Kimbie announce the news of their next EP 'Carbonated'. This EP follows the release of the 'Blind Night Errand' EP and will be the final release from the album. 'Carbonated', the lead track on the EP is joined by two previously unreleased tracks, the buoyant, effervescence of 'Flux' and 'Bave's Chords', which showcase the lush, elegant percussive sound Mount Kimbie have become known for. 'Bave's Chords' was recorded around their early EP 'Maybes' and 'Flux' was created during the album recordings. Airhead, who's shortly releasing his own album on Brainmath and is member of James Blakes' live band, subtly twists 'Carbonated' with his remix, while Belgian producer & DJ Peter Van Hoesen creates a six minute dark techno rework for the dancefloor. 'Adriatic', also from 'Crooks and Lovers' is transformed completely by Klaus with his style of detailed production hitting the mark once more. 'Crooks and Lovers' defined Dominic Maker and Kai Campos as an original and exceptional duo whose musical output refuses to be pigeonholed. Abundant in paradoxes, the album floats through dubstep and hip-hop, jazz, techno, post-rock, UK garage, shoegaze, indie and film scores to startling effect.

Hatti Vatti - Worship Nothing

New Moon Recordings' cornerstone artist Hatti Vatti is set to release his long-awaited debut album, entitled Worship Nothing, on 3
February 2014.
Having released a string of 12"s since 2009, Hatti Vatti's sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a
minimal, Autonomic sound. Releases for Mindset, New Moon, On The Edge, and Absys have marked this Polish producer apart for
his cinematic take on bass-driven, dub-rooted electronic music.
Hatti Vatti closed 2013 with the release of Algebra, a stripped-down mini-album of Middle Eastern field recordings and ambient
techno for Nowe Nagrania.
Worship Nothing sees Hatti Vatti's artistic journey culminate into a single, coherent vision - a vision that is simultaneously spacious
and deeply intimate. A futuristic sheen of 80's nostalgia penetrates much of Worship Nothing, even within the familiar restrained dub
of "Struggle" (with Polish vocalist Sara Brylewska) and "Wonderful World" (with Irish vocalist Cian Finn). The organic synths remain In
"Treasure" and "72 Dub", though the rhythms become decidedly more manic, hinting towards the feverish feel of footwork while
remaining decidedly introspective.
Floating, haunted vocals pervade the half-step of "Tokyo" a shimmering collaboration with Manchester producer Synkro. Also
hovering around the minimal 170bpm sound are "Synthesis"
and "Black Flowers", which features vocals from Lady Katee.
Slowing down to a garage-tinted swing, "Nights" is yet another collaboration with a UK artist - Versa.
Throughout Worship Nothing, Hatti Vatti has created an atmosphere that draws the listener deep into his own world of beautifully
crafted beats, ambient textures, and sub-bass frequencies. Grab your headphones and float away...

Batu - Spooked / Clarity (dismantled)

Following on from the success of their self titled
label compilation in October, the Livity Sound
collective returns for a final transmission in 2013
courtesy of their sister label dnuoS ytiviL.
(pronounced 'Livity Sound', if you were
wondering...)
A strictly underground operation, it's manifesto is to
release music with a shared aesthetic to it's parent
label and it did just that earlier in the year, delivering
two dancefloor bombs by Manchester's Alex
Coulton in the form of the 'War Games' / 'Pointe
Noire' 12'.
'Spooked' and 'Clarity (Dismantled)' are both
produced by new UK based artist Batu whose
signature alien dub dance and snaking hypnotic
rhythmic styles reflect the mutating underground UK
and round off a killer year for the label as a whole.
This 12' follows on from Batu's debut vinyl release
on Pinch's Cold Recordings label....

Letthemusicplay Feat. Kate Tempest - Our Town Remixes

Hot on the heels of their recently released label compilation We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance In The Dark, and an EP
from new talent TCTS, London via Berlin collective Greco-Roman get set to release 'Our Town' by letthemusicplay featuring Kate
Tempest Remixes on December 9th 2013.
Starting out as a teen rapper in Lewisham and now hailed by The Guardian as 'one of the brightest British talents around', 27 year-
old South London spoken word phenomenon Kate Tempest has been causing a stir at poetry slams and performances up and down
the UK, from Glastonbury festival to the Edinburgh Fringe. This year saw her self-penned performance piece Brand New Ancients
claim the Ted Hughes Award for innovation in poetry - making her the first person under 40 to do so - and shortly after her victory
she was one of eight poets commissioned to perform at the Hayward Gallery's Light Show in London.
While Brand New Ancients saw Tempest backed by an orchestra, on 'Our Town' she join forces with letthemusicplay, two enigmatic
London-based beat-makers who craft a punchy UK house backdrop to more than match her pneumatic words, with fizzing synth
bursts and ping pong beats peppering exhortations to spend the afternoon in bed with three bottles of wine, to drink 'til the sun
comes up and stagger through alleyways.
With echoes of fellow urban poets The Streets and Gil Scott-Heron, 'Our Town' is a paean to loved-up nights in the city, drunken
confessionals and post-rave sunrises narrated by one of the UK's fiercest voices.
'Our Town' Remixes is released on December 9th via Greco-Roman, backed with remixes from none other than Lennie De Ice, the
man responsible for the 90's track "We Are I.e" which is often considered to be one of the first Jungle records. Whilst our very own
Joe Goddard gives "Our Town" his unique dub treatment. Rounded off very nicely indeed with a fantastic Sister Bliss vs I Said No
Dancefloor Dub!!!

D-operation Drop & Geode - Stronghold Ep

FatKidOnFire Promo - 'Subaltern Records third 12" comes from Italy's mighty D-Operation Drop. The sinister power of 'Stronghold' has already earned the tune support from the likes of Distance, Razor Rekta and others, while New Zealand duo Perverse add their unique style to the remix. 'Angkor' sees Geode adding some UK flavour to the release, with heavy support from N-Type on Rinse.fm. This release is firmly cements Subaltern's reputation as a label pushing the genre forwards, following releases from Prism/Valor/Gantz, and Mentha/Murk/Ipman.'

One Forty Deep Blog - Subaltern Records will be releasing their third EP at the end of December featuring the production talents of D-Operation Drop, Geode and Perverse. It will be available as a 3 track vinyl and 4 track digital release.
There's plenty dark minimalism on display here, and all tracks are guaranteed to do maximum dancefloor damage. The lurching, rolling rhythms and pulsing subs providing ample support for the intense mids, eerie atmospherics and layered percs. Bonus digital track Breaking drops the tempo to 130, but maintains the 140 soundscaping.
This looks set to be an immense release for D-Operation Drop, and a great addition to Subaltern's flourishing catalogue.

Hailing from Istanbul, Turkey, Gantz credits his distance from the standard influences and music hot spots as resulting in his unique
style.
Not following the rules on production and shying away from the public face, it's been fairly standard for Gantz to hide away from the
'scene' but DEEP MEDi's 1st 12" of 2014, brings his head firmly into the mix.
The last 12 months included touring the United States, as well as causing a flurry with remixes including 1 for fellow MEDi artist

"I started delving into this dubstep thing back in 2008, my first maybe 10 records were only Deep Medi records, this label was the

The AA side for MEDi078 sees him collaborating with El Mahdy Jnr to add even more individuality to this release.

Eprom - Halflife

Halflife

12inchRWINALP003
Rwina Records
07.01.2014

West coast producer and sound system murderer Eprom is back on Rwina for a second album, Halflife which continues the producer's mad scientist approach to what makes a dancefloor move: synthetizing the warmth of vintage computer sounds, the energy of African rhythmic traditions (including modern evolutions such as Kwaito and Shangaan Electro), the swagger of southern rap and the intricacy of pioneering electronic music from the likes of Richard Devine or Curtis Roads. The result is a heady melting pot, a unique sound that has some of the best DJs in the world - Gaslamp Killer, Kutmah, D-Styles - and the crowds always wanting more. Wasting no time, Eprom opens the album with a volley of tracks built to blow up sound systems and take heads off in the dance. Center of the Sun, Beasts of Babylon and Hurricane all display the sheer brilliance of Eprom's mad scientist streak: a minimalist blend of low slung rhythmic alchemy, ten ton heavy bass and dark melodies more powerful than the soulless, over-the-top showboating that characterises much of today's dance music. On the bouncy Vogel he revisits some of the melodic elements from the first album while Super FX and Lost Levels come across like 2013 dancefloor versions of a Final Fantasy soundtrack, introducing a focus on brighter melodies and variations. Screwface opens the second half of the album with more in-your-face brilliance as drums pound the bass bins into submission before Machine Skin rolls in with its hypnotic arpeggio to lead dancers around like a demented Pied Piper. Pentatonic Dust then provides a brief and blurry interlude before another trio of short tracks - Moisture, Turtle Ride and Subroc - deliver a perfect blend of what's come before: mesmerising melodies, energetic rhythms and chest-pounding sub frequencies. The album closes with Cloud Leanmixx bringing the journey to an end by stripping back some of the energy and enveloping the listener in a warm blanket of synths and rolling drums. Guido - Moods Of Future Joy

Guido

Moods Of Future Joy

12inchTEC074
Tectonic
07.01.2014

Bristol born producer Guido releases his second album 'Moods Of Future Joy' through home town label Tectonic Recordings. Alongside Joker and Gemmy, Guido completed Bristol's 'Purple Trinity' generation of dubstep producers, whose collective sound took the worldwide underground scene by storm in 2009. His 2010 debut 'Anieda' was incredibly received by critics - hailed as 'one of the finest post-dubstep full-lengths yet' by Pitchfork and the Guardian describing Guido as 'one of the most gifted (composers). He arranges sound with an elegant precision, as though painting a still life'. Resident Advisor highlighted his adaptive musicality, writing 'there's no other producer releasing music at the moment who can switch styles so emphatically'. Stepping forward from the synthed out R&B blueprints laid down by 'Anieda' with tempered restraint, Guido has spent the past 18 months grafting in the studio to bring 'Moods Of Future Joy' to fruition. Two vocal collaborations - album opener 'Green Eyed Monster' and 'Letting Go' - feature singer Emma-Lou, 'Same Road' explores expansive minimalism and 'Afrika pt 2' (pt 1 released on Guido's own label State Of Joy) flirts with broken-Afro-beats. The playfulness of 'Heartless Dodger' contrasts the grimier tones of 'NRG' while the melancholic harmonies of 'Kalm' provide a subtle diversion to the bombastic album closer, 'Squeaky Jungle'. Foundations in studying jazz and classical music are evident on this highly musical long player. Impeccably composed instrumentation, performance and production meld to create sonically delightful tracks that - although always inherent of dubstep's influence - are bereft of any single genre.

After releasing their debut EP on Urban Waves in 2012, Shanghai's SVBKVLT label are proud to kick off their new 10' series with 'Dagger', one of S L V's strongest productions to date. A tough yet cinematic 80/160bpm cut, 'Dagger' see's the two producers styles collide and compliment each other perfectly, creating a track aimed at the head as well as the feet. Finnish producer Desto (Signal Life, Rwina) takes on Dagger for the b---side, and amps up the pressure to maximum effect. Nordic footwork styles via East Asia! Having already proved its potency on the dancefloor at clubs such as Fabric (London), The Shelter (Shanghai) and Ageha (Tokyo), SBKT001 has had DJ support from Kode9, Perera Elsewhere (Jahcoozi), Puzzle (Leisure System), Doshy and Desto amongst others.

Alpha Steppa /joe Ariwa /lee 'scratch' Perry - Open Door

Joe Ariwa son of legendary dub producer Mad Professor meets Alpha Steppa son and nephew of veteran dub duo Alpha & Omega featuring the seminal reggae/dub pioneer Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Widely regarded as the most unique and charismatic of all Jamaican record producers, Lee 'Scratch' Perry aka The Upsetter is one of reggae's longest serving veterans whose story is inseparable from that of the development of Jamaican popular music. Perry pioneered the development of dub music with his early adoption of effects and remixing to create new instrumental or vocal versions of existing reggae tracks. Undoubtedly one of reggae's most prolific and influential producers Perry has worked with the likes of Bob Marley and The Wailers, Junior Murvin, The Congos and Max Romeo to name a few. Joe Ariwa's first touch with music was as a two year old when he plugged a guitar amp into his father's mixing desk. Being privileged to be the son of a renowned artist/ technician Joe learned most of his skills at the knee of an excellent teacher. Growing up in and around Mad Professor's infamous Ariwa Studios Joe quickly developed the skills and technical know-how required to engineer, mix and produce forward thinking dub music with a solid roots foundation. Joe has a string of releases under his belt featuring collaborations with legendary reggae artists including Horace Andy, Dennis Bovell, Earl 16, Michael Prophet and of course Mad Professor himself. Growing up in a similar environment to Joe, Steppas label head Alpha Steppa has also been immersed in soundsystem culture from a very young age and now plays an active role in the developing new wave of dub music. This release features two unique vocal and dub cuts from Lee 'Scratch' Perry produced and mixed by Joe and Alpha - Second generation dub with a rootical foundation. Presented in the brand new black & gold foil printed Steppas house-bag, quality assured with the golden lion stamp of approval.

Youngsta & Seven - Architects/war Cry

Having spent well over a decade at the forefront of the dubstep scene - as DJ, FWD>> resident, Rinse FM show host, tastemaker and club promoter (Contact) - Youngsta has recently been making powerful inroads into production, and his latest Tempa release is a collaborative 12" with Seven.

It's their first release together since 2009's 'Masai Mara', which was released on N-Type's Wheel & Deal records, and finds them ramping up the dread for a pair of intense, eyes-down floor movers.

'Architects' opens in a cascade of synthetic notes and a shredding bass drone. A minute later, the floor abruptly drops out, with a burst of sub-bass that sends the track plummeting downwards amid snapping snares and intricate runs of struck percussion.
'War Cry' is at once sparser and more anthemic, opening in a towering haze of synthetic strings that recall the grandeur of classic sci-fi soundtracks. It subsequently plunges deep into the echo chamber, pairing dubbed out percussive with engine rumble subs to create the impression of seemingly endless space.

One part English eccentric, one part electronic music whizz, Feed Me aka Jon Gooch aka Spor aka Seventh Stitch (his electronica side project) prefers to do things differently. 'Calamari Tuesday' is Jon's first full-length album.

You're just as likely to find Feed Me sharing a bill with the likes of Foals, The Prodigy, 2ManyDJs or Bjork, than with rank and file EDM DJ/producers, and he sells out the kind of live venues most of the latter can only dream of (often playing multiple shows in each city). He doesn't DJ. He collaborates with bands like Crystal Fighters ('Love Is All I Got' is included here). And he'd rather do press interviews through his alter ego, a character named Feed Me from which this project takes its name.

On the live front, Feed Me sold out a 20 date US tour earlier this year, and then returned for a sell out 'homecoming' gig at London's Forum (which followed 2012's sell out show at the Electric Ballroom), where he debuted material from the album. London witnessed the kind of immense light and laser show and production that has accompanied his festival shows for Fuji Rocks, Exit festival, Reading, and Leeds - occupying the stages once reserved for the Chemical Brothers, Underworld and other live electronic music acts from the genre's 20th century heyday.

When most people envisage a futuristic interface between man and machine, they likely picture 7 foot gleaming cyborgs a la Hollywood's age-old vision. Not Gooch. His perfect symbiosis between man and machine is about 3 foot tall, green, and boasts the kind of teeth that would make Sigourney Weaver think twice. Feed Me was created by Jon and built with the help of animatronic genius, John Nolan, who's worked on projects including Harry Potter, Dr Who, Clash Of The Titans and many more.

Musically, 'Calamari Tuesday' shows that peaktime electronic music can be a thrill ride for the mind as well as the feet. It bristles and crackles with energy but shuns the default setting you'll find amongst certain plug-in obsessed peers. This album represents Jon and Feed Me's journey so far, resembling something of an aural biopic of them both to date. He says many of the lead synth lines "were created by the pair in his Hertfordshire garage and fashioned from common household goods". We suspect he might not be telling the truth, but that's Feed Me.

'Calamari Tuesday' is released on Jon's new label, Sotto Voce, which will be home to all his Feed Me exploits and releases from other artists.

Mount Kimbie - Remixes Pt.1

Hotflush presents the first of two EPs of remixes of Mount Kimbie. On the first, Dom and Kai's HF021 debut 'Maybes' gets a soulful treatment from their sometime collaborator James Blake, as heard on Scuba's recent SUB:STANCE mix on Ostgut Ton, while 'Serged' from HF023 is reshaped into woozy garage by New Yorker FaltyDL. On the flip, DJ Mag's 2009 Best Breakthrough Producers Instra:mental transform 'At Least' into a blissed-out, bass-heavy 4/4 roller.
