Long Island NY's Blind Prophet (Joe Burns), is the owner and operator of vinyl & digital imprint South Fork Sound. Formation' is a masterful 130 bpm stormer built from beautifully dubbed congas, deep subs, a propulsive and distorted 4/4 kick, and paranoid descending piano figure intertwining with a miasmic lead. Brimming with deliciously filtered and panned synths, insistent pads build tension to a drop into pure soundboy-killing freefall. The second half cuts the kick to half-time to open up more swaggering dub space, fleshing out a truly massive tune. This one straight to a soundbwoy chest!'

Horizon' is a hypnotic 140 bpm meditation driven again by conga, ricocheting percussion, and a steppers bassline, with gorgeous pads and keys rising from the ether like a dawn sun through evaporating mists. Tsuyoshi comes from Japan where at the moment, it is clear in his style and his output, that the scene and sound around him is a hot bed for talent.

London producer Dark0 has always created his music as a snapshot, a kind of journal, its sole agenda being to illustrate the thoughts, passions and frustrations of a given time and place. Previously releasing with tastemaker labels Lost Codes and Rinse, the 25-year-old's debut for XL is the Oceana EP. Oceana describes the unstable relationship Dark0 shares with his environment, narrating the story of his city's illusions of grandeur, mired by hypocrisy and a false sense of security. Dark0 weaves this narrative into a stunningly warm, sorrowful, yet optimistic sound creating a real cinematic journey for the listener.

Dark0, who emerged as the pioneer of melodic, grime-referencing club anthems, breaks away from his previously known sound for his XL debut. Showcasing Dark0's ease at creating tunneling melodic earworms defined by their punishing percussion and refrain, the Oceana EP journeys through love sick, dark-pop ('Forever') and total euphoria ('Luka'), before retribution ('Plague') and ending with 'Heal''s redemptive qualities.

Having already gained praise from The Fader, i-D, FACT & Resident Advisor ( endlessly listenable'), Dark0's Oceana EP cements the cult musician as one of the most skilled and revered producers London has today.

Charles Hayward formed This Heat in 1976, with Gareth Williams and Charles Bullen: an experimental mix of Can, dub, punk and industrial. (DFA is a glint in its eye.) He also drummed for The Raincoats and Crass. The Kemal selections here are from his tribute to Mark Rothko, released in 1990 by the wonderful Brussels label Sub Rosa: grooving, stripped, moody DJ assassinators, fresh as anything.

On the second vinyl, Maxmillion Dunbar is possessed by Photek disguised as DJ Premier. His favourite of his own remixes, according to a recent interview. And another hard-core CH fan, JD Twitch rocks up with a carrier of Giallo videos and New Beat singles, gobbling Goblin and Belgian acid.

BIG TUNE!! So much attention this year has been on the minimal sounds within drum & bass.
Skeptical, a name creeping up the chain, has really honed this skill of keeping it minimal yet powerful. 'Cold One' is arguably his finest tune to date. Bringing back the hoovers, while delivering a totally fresh style, this is a must have tune. Dub Phizix from Manchester, is another new name, but with a slew of releases on big labels pending it won't be long before he becomes a buy on sight artist. This co-lab with Skeptical is absolutely dangerous, watch the bassbins, i'm telling ya!

After the success of his 'Backwards Light' EP Slackk returns to R&S with another 6 tracker of instrumental grime mutations.
A figurehead of the UK scene through the influential Boxed night he runs alongside Mr. Mitch, Logos and Oil Gang, Slackk aka Paul Lynch distils the Boxed sound into his own inimitable, richly melodic style. The six tracks on offer on this EP continue to blur the lines between genres as RA described in their glowing review of the Backwards Light EP. 'A producer whose music is moving beyond its origins in grime to something undiscovered.'
The tracks range from the opening moody club styles of 'Swan Filters' and twisted bass of Mumdance and Logos favourite 'Skeleton Crew' to the more reserved and delicate headphone moments of 'Replenish' and 'Pigeons'. 'Hundred Flute' returns a common Slackk inspiration source into the sampler, but the results on this one could be the best yet. 'Returning Geese' finishes the EP in what could be one of the producers last examples of the Japanese styles for a while. R&S and Boxed will be teaming up to host a stage at this years Bloc festival featuring Slackk, Lone, Logos, Lakker, Appleblim, Second Strorey & Mr. Mitch.

A journey to the moon that began fifteen years ago now reaches another milestone - 15 years, one and a half decades, over 150 individual releases, many many artists, countless professional relationships but also friendships along the way. Many many stories and shared memories - not all of them good, not all of them bad either. While modern space age technology would make it possible to reach the moon's surface a lot faster, for us it is not only about moving forward as quickly as possible, but also to turn around, look back and around ourselves and to reflect on everything that happened and is happening. This is why we have such a broad range of artists guesting on our latest compilation. Some that have been part of the voyage from its earliest stages, others that have been with us for major milestones along the way, and even more that might move ahead with us into new and unchartered musical regions.
Working with Dave McKean - a true legend, especially for anyone into comic illustrations - wraps up this whole trip in the sweetest way. Not only is it a big honour, but - in a way - it completes the circle, as Dave has been a major influence for the label's artworks from its earliest beginnings already.

The 'Alfur' EP is the second in the trilogy of records written by individual members of the Old Apparatus collective, which will be released in three month-by-month instalments. 'Alfur', produced by A. Levitas, offers a view of the rusted Old Apparatus universe from another angle; a suite of songs that weave together deep feeling and influence into a complex and very listenable EP, built for deep listening at loud volumes. 'Alfur' is a mystical, deeply atmospheric five track set, recalling the spooked ambience of Third Eye Foundation and earlier Tricky material, with gauzy layers filtered through electronica and hip hop's modern digital mechanics. The EP opens with the ambient birdsong, skewered chorales, and stumbling beats of 'Boxcat', then slides into 'Schwee' with its hazy stew of chilly, sustained chords, pitchshifted vocals and smudgy kicks. Opening side two, 'Cauliroot' mixes shimmering distant bells, jungle atmospherics, dubbed out drums and big bass. Next, 'Coalapps' sounds like the rainy shoegaze of Slowdive or Jesu rubbing up against 2-step influenced electronica, before 'Lingle' closes proceedings with lulling pitchshifted loops of voices over a slow, marching beat, marking a strange and dreamy outro to another great addition to the increasingly remarkable Old Apparatus canon.

15 years after its original release back in 2000 we managed to get hold of of a few archive copies of - Smart Dust , the debut album of the former Cologne-based electronic supergroup consisting of Dr. Walker, Freddy Fresh, Wulfmanson, Thee Joker, Nik Frost, M.Flux, LL Nino, Frank Heiss, Thomas Thorn and Mike O'Connell.

Together this amazing collective explores the realms of BigBeat, Downtempo, TripHop and Electro on a stunning 14-track gatefold double LP that introduced elements of Jazz and World Music to the electronic scene many years before these influences became widely recognized in the electronic mainstream. Label owner Fracture, fresh from landmark release 'Loving Touch' on Exit Records, and Sam Binga, of 'AYO' and 'Lef Dem' fame, team up to presentFDGD, three alternative takes on minimal sub-led Dancehall at the higher end of the tempo range. All three riddims are vocalled byRider Shafique, a key member of Bristol's Young Echo collective, who deviates from his trademark conscious lyrical content, choosing instead to roll out some of that dutty slackness in the finest traditions of Yellowman and Shabba Ranks.

Alongside this heavy pressure, man of the moment Logos (known for his collaborations with Mumdanceand groundbreaking releases on Keysound Recordings) provides a next-level 'devil mix', taking inspiration from classic Eski and Grime but travelling far beyond that starting point to end floating, in beatless hyper-space.

As ever, Astrophonica team up with Utile Creative to bring hand finished, magenta rubber stamped artwork to the limited edition vinyl sleeves.

Charlie P is best known for his reggae and dancehall releases, so this grimey countdown of his rules of the dance comes as a
surprise. The vocal is superbly matched with productions that span the worlds of Soundsystem including two of the most exciting producers around. Mungo's Hi Fi start their side with a digital riddim that creeps into more progressive sounds. Kahn's production is darker with almost eastern atmospherics and is heavyweight as you would imagine.

A new addition to the Innamind family has arrived in the form of Karma. With releases on Vivek's always instabag worthy SYSTEM and Goth-Trad's amazing Back to Chill 'Mugen' compilation, Innamind clearly knows what's up with the young producer. With IMRV014, Karma doesn't disappoint with three long time dubplates for another Innamind winner, and like the past few releases, LAS contributes some stellar artwork for IMRV014.

'Heal' is a ruff and ready steppa that's slathered in spring reverb and arcing, melancholic synth washes that scan the night skies of the world cities as a Rasta elder utters blessings of healing over all the nations of the Earth. After the second drop, rootical nyabhingi burns down Babylon, bringing with it the fall of the wicked ones and the psychic vampires.

'Rumble Fish' sounds like it should be Innamind's sister label Blacklist, with its more concertina wire textures and tones and kaleidoscopic samples - jungle noises, what seems to be a pitched up string sample, and other dissonant ephemera - meanwhile the sub bass oscillates and quivers for a full body sensory experience that would be perfect for the Tsunami Bass Sound System.

Closing out IMRV014, Karma teams up with Japanese comrade in sound Dubtro for 'Flee in the Fog' which swirls amongst dubspace and most likely a busted Electro-Harmonix phaser. With melodic percussion detailing and spacey atmospherics enveloping the body and mind, everything is thrown askew midway through as a heart-on-sleeve diapason emerges, building the dance into a cathartic outpouring that is both supremely joyful and heartbreakingly sad at the same time.

20 year old Sheffield based producer Jack Chapman AKA Lloyd SB spans multiple genres, moods and BPMs on 'Boida Flare', his debut EP via London collective Nervous Horizon.
"The release contains tracks I made within the last couple of months to almost two years ago. It feels good to see these tracks side by side on the same release as you can see how I've developed my sound over time and experimented with different tempos. I came up with the name for 'Boida Flare' after watching a Boi-1da interview on YouTube where he spoke about artists having their own individual flair. It's more of a name I gave for the palette of sounds I've made, similar to a collective noun. But then I adapted the spelling to link in the Wiley vocals before the drop 'I light up the dance'...'I told you before I'm a top boy'."
After early support from Murlo, Slackk, Scratcha DVA and Plastician, his first track 'X-Out' was released on the very respected Boxed001 compilation. He joins the Nervous Horizon crew after signing '3 x 23' to their Vol 1 compilation last summer. He recently played the Nervous Horizon Boiler Room session curated by Sound Pellegrino's Teki Latex, another big supporter of his music.
With the title track seeing early support by Kode 9 on BBC Radio 1, the EP features a multitude of productions with influences ranging from grime to techno, a collaboration with Wallwork, 'The Portal', and a percussive remix of 'Pirate Bay' by TSVI.

Cannataci Records - A new record label run by Ripperton & Agnès Cannataci Records is a joint venture hosted by Ripperton and Agnès. The label is aimed at releasing rather unclassified music, pieces our friends compose or simply ourselves. The aim is at releasing music we believe make things go beyond the usual paths. The label name is a reference to our hopes in the newly appointed UN special rapporteur on privacy, namely, Joseph Cannataci. Frankly, we do not want to taint our music with politics, although we are simply firm endorsers of our own privacy and think everybody else should. Cannataci Records will output its releases with a very small batch of 2x12 inches vinyl's physical copies of the recorded materials and thereafter digitally. Modeste - Absurd Memories - Cannataci Records 001 Absurdity, none decisions, finding yourself begging for your brain to get formatted thus losing it all, the good and the bad, simply for once get rid of that load. Machine wise it's possible, biologically speaking it isn't yet. Absurd Memories is an exorcism at one of the saddest period of my life. Sorrows and sleepless nights made me craft this. I nailed it with all my strength as if by doing it with all my hearth, my sadness storms would vanish. It turned out to be an unfair combat. Two years later this has now its place in the past for which time, as a cure, was my only help at looking at things with a different gyroscope. After King Yoof's dedicated dub album and us welcoming the sound of the Italian stallions Madplate Sound to another heavy twelve-inch, we follow up on releasing music from the Londoners Squarewave and Sukh Knight.
Throughout the past years, Squarewave has been releasing music on the biggest labels in dub and dubstep culture and licensed it to Ministry of Sound and Rinse FM. These successes led to establishing his own record label 'New World Audio', which houses his favourite bass music including of his successful brother (and remix artist) Sukh Knight. Anthems such as 'One Spliff' and 'Ganja Dub' have put Sukh on the map in dubstep and grime culture. Known for his wonky sounds, he will surprise you with his vinyl appearance on the flipside.
'Way Of Life' is a smooth sailer that reaches out to the early days of dubstep, dub and the life with ganja. Low-pitched vibrations and riveting choirs colour the expression of peace, love and unity inside, while both tremble through a haze of smoke. Followed by complex kick patterns that step forward confidently, words of wisdom take part in sharing Squarewave's thoughts on the use of the Marijuana plant. This jam surely pays homage to such life-changing event, healing of the nations and system sound.
Sukh Knight's remix treatment gives off a more electronic feel and propagates differently thru the realm of dub. Its mid-heavy stabs reinforce the peng bass weight that flows similarly to his brother's original number. However, his own interpretation bends 'Way Of Life' into a really different stepper, which will escort listeners through the raw landscape of London's boroughs. This bass expert, known for his wobbles,shares a tasty dub lick that contains an encapsulating and unique Moonshine sound.
Our 27th release showcases British sound system vibes at its best. Moonshine believes that the brothers Squarewave&Sukh Knight have truly outdone themselves with their contribution to our collection of Moonshine material. Respect!

In advance of his attendance as a participant at the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal, rising UK producer Hyroglifics has prepared the 'All Talk' EP for release in September via London's drum & bass purveyors Critical Music. That title might under-promise, but on tracks like "Persuade," debuted here, Hyroglifics certainly delivers. Featuring verses from long-running British rap crew Foreign Beggars, "Persuade" eschews Hyroglifics junglist tendencies in favor of more linear hip-hop. Following a mellow intro, it explodes with energy off the back of vocals that are paranoid, partially uplifting, and certainly boastful ("This is what you want / let me show you what you need"). There are shadowy slips of sound tucked throughout, with woodblock rhythms knocking at the door of otherwise fragile, glassy details that compete with the verses for attention. It's not jungle, and it's not drum & bass, and maybe it's not really hip-hop, either - it's just Hyroglifics. Clear, Black & Transparent Blue mixed coloured 12"

We return with our next release and at this time we proudly present a local production by a young Estonian musician - Bisweed. At this time we issue a 45 record on the A side of which there is a vocal support by the living legend Earl 16 with a song called Righteous Groove', and on the B side, an exclusive dub mix called Righteous Melodica" by label boss Simon Chaozlevel and melodica played by Bisweed.

Bisweed hasn't yet worked with dub music but over the last years he has established himself as a potential dubstep producer. His skills though help him record vocals, classical dub melodica and a dub mix with ease. Since Bisweed is mostly inspired by the British dub music, on the A side of the record you can hear disconcertingly dark, deep and heavy sub and a strict stepper beat. However the horn section in the chorus parts adds composition a delightful elevation and melodiousness. Earl Sixteen's legendary voice wafts through the rough and tough riddim. The roots and culture lyrics add this creation even more harmony and balance.

Since we are trying to keep classical tradition, we have a dub version on B side. The version differs from original much: it's much more raw, it's not a stepper, the expanded bass gives the music more meditational atmosphere while melodica played by Bisweed clinks just at the right moments. Light and minimalistic percussions by Simon Chaozlevel add rhythmical allure to the composition. Righteous Melodica! Music on the both sides was composed, arranged and mixed by Bisweed in his studio in Tallinn, Estonia. Earl Sixteen had a record session in Birmingham, UK, in Friendly Fire Studio. The mastering sound quality and lacquer cut is guaranteed by Sam from Precise Mastering. Simon Chaozlevel recorded the dub version and made everything possible issuing this wonderful record for you! You won't often hear a combo of dub from Tallinn and a Jamaican singer!

A Wa Yu Want is a seriously heavyweight link up between Ishan Sound and partner in crime Rider Shafique, back on Hotline inna dancehall style - this time around Miss Red duels it out with Shafique over a searing dancehall riddim built by long the time Hotline and Peng Sound crew member. The instrumental is included on the A side for DJs looking to give their own MC room to breath and on the flip is a suitably gargantuan remix from the man like Kahn, remaining faithful to the original but adding his own darkside flavours to the mix, maximum sub pressure and cascading hi-hats. Strictly business, strictly for the heads. You know you'll be hearing this thumping out bassbins near you all summer long - be sure to wheel dat...

duploc. com's debut 12 has been a remarkable milestone for the Belgian imprint as Belgium has not seen any dubstep records released on vinyl in four years. For the next instalment introduces upcoming Bristolian talent Rygby, his local environment with its well-respected music culture simply demands for a proper vinyl.

Bristol is the homecity of badman like Kahn, Pinch, Ishan Sound, Joker and Sorrow to name a few, but with Rygby's first vinyl the spotlight definitely will be turned on him as well. Poltergeist' probably is the most original track signed so far. Though you'll need to hear and experience it live through a decent sound system to fully understand this one. A very upfront haunting sub bass with the energy to shake up any dance, combined with an extremely unique A-side Pagan' which perfectly does complement this spooky-sounding record.
