ZamZam Sounds' Tracy and Ezra have been close followers of Alpha & Omega and Alpha Steppa from day. ZamZam is well-pleased to finally be able to present two exclusive tunes from the UK powerhouse. Now three fantastic albums deep via Steppas Records, Dub Dynasty is composed of Alpha Steppa and Alpha & Omega (Alpha Steppa's father and aunt). Two generations of UK dub combine for a sound with roots in orthodox 80s UK sound system, pushed into new post-dubstep territory.

For their debut ZamZam the trio unearthed two early sessions, recorded and mixed during the formative months of the Dub Dynasty project. Unreleased until now, these two staunchly 140 pounders marry the weight of classic A&O to the digital space and sensibility of Alpha Steppa for maximum pressure in the dance.

Dub Cure combines the bucolic ambience of Christine Omega's chickens (!!) with majestic horns and an absolutely storming steppers kit. The massive bassline propels a stripped yet anthemic tune for sound systems of every size and stripe. Named for "the ritual performed by Korean shamans, involving offerings and sacrifices to the gods and ancestor worship, rhythmic movements, songs, oracles and prayers,' Kut () is powered by a driving riddim that skillfully rides the knife edge between steppers and one drop, featuring a detuned melodica figure alongside plucked guitar, punk skanks and the masterful dubbing we expect from this regal concern.

Jerome Meyer AKA Von D is a master craftsman, well-known for releasing dubstep and bass music since 2009. On an increasingly prolific trajectory since last year, recent 12's on Infernal Sounds, Trojan Audio and Scotch Bonnet have signaled his renewed focus on dubwise productions. We are proud to say that Von D's Khaliphonic debut sees him fully committing to reggae and dub - in his words, going back to my musical roots.'

Politricks' is a masterwork, cut from the same living rock as the classic Cuss Cuss riddim, a simply huge bass and drum workout that is truly one for the ages. Politricks is an anthem for now, a call to avoid the dead-end of politics-as-usual and a warning to beware of the lies politicians tell to keep themselves in power - full of promises but changing nothing. Von D says that working with Don Cotti was very natural,' and their easy relationship is audible - the tune fits the vocal like a glove, and Cotti's instantly-recognizable singjay style gives even more gravitas to an already heavy track. The dub version spools out Von D's signature saturated echoes even further, and opens up spectral chambers of reverb that shimmer and glow.

The B side Ygrec' is an equally massive tune, just as compelling if more meditative and mysterious, coming in both one drop and power-steppers mixes for maximum versatility and vibes. Both tunes and their versions feature an incredibly robust, warm, human sound - one that simply can't come from machines alone - live drums, bass, and kete drum among other instruments maintain the tradition of live musicians in dub - to say nothing of expert desk-based mixing and deployment of live analog effects the way the elders intended. Both tunes dial in at 140 making them perfect for roots and dubstep selectors alike.

Von D got his start as a drummer and engineer outside Paris, in the heady days of original jungle. Early releases on Disfigured Dubz, Hench, Boka, Black Acre and the seminal V Recordings, as well as his reggae-oriented Liquid Wicked project, cemented his reputation. Don Cotti is a prolific producer, DJ and MC with releases stretching back to 2006 on labels as varied as Bass Face, Studio Rockers, and Soul Jazz.

New Moon Recordings' cornerstone artist Hatti Vatti is set to release his long-awaited debut album, entitled Worship Nothing, on 3 February 2014.
Having released a string of 12"s since 2009, Hatti Vatti's sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a minimal, Autonomic sound. Releases for Mindset, New Moon, On The Edge, and Absys have marked this Polish producer apart for his cinematic take on bass-driven, dub-rooted electronic music. Hatti Vatti closed 2013 with the release of Algebra, a stripped-down mini-album of Middle Eastern field recordings and ambient techno for Nowe Nagrania.
Worship Nothing sees Hatti Vatti's artistic journey culminate into a single, coherent vision - a vision that is simultaneously spacious and deeply intimate. A futuristic sheen of 80's nostalgia penetrates much of Worship Nothing, even within the familiar restrained dub of "Struggle" (with Polish vocalist Sara Brylewska) and "Wonderful World" (with Irish vocalist Cian Finn). The organic synths remain In "Treasure" and "72 Dub", though the rhythms become decidedly more manic, hinting towards the feverish feel of footwork while remaining decidedly introspective. Floating, haunted vocals pervade the half-step of "Tokyo" a shimmering collaboration with Manchester producer Synkro. Also hovering around the minimal 170bpm sound are "Synthesis" and "Black Flowers", which features vocals from Lady Katee. Slowing down to a garage-tinted swing, "Nights" is yet another collaboration with a UK artist - Versa.
Throughout Worship Nothing, Hatti Vatti has created an atmosphere that draws the listener deep into his own world of beautifully crafted beats, ambient textures, and sub-bass frequencies. Grab your headphones and float away...

Rising producer Detboi has had a whirlwind few months, seeing him release his Scatter EP on Keysound Recordings and deliver a VIP of Special Request's Damage for XL Recordings as well as signing to Goldie's Metalheadz imprint.

Patterns / Off Switch are two technical dance floor fillers premiered on SBTRKT Radio One Residency, with further support from the likes of Special Request aka Paul Woolford, Troy Gunner, Mella Dee, Blackdown Keysound, 2 Bad Mice, Boxia, Mak & Pasteman, Ardstepz and many more.

Swindle's second in a trilogy of EP for Butterz this year leans on his Grime roots, featuring veteran MCs D Double E and Ghetts. 'Lemon Trees' featuring D Double E sees them venture to LA, on a G Funk tip (Watch video here), and 'Works Haffi Run' featuring Ghetts has him going in a rare gritty direction. The EP is accompanied by a remix from girl of the moment Flava D for the biggest track from his album last year 'Peace, Love & Music'. The 'Mad Ting' Remix featured on her recent fabriclive mix, and has been going down in the clubs ever since.

With 'Ringleader' the duo return with their first original productions since their debut full length, last year's critically acclaimed 'Words Unspoken, Acts Undone.'
Inspired by global trends towards Orwellian mass surveillance and cyber espionage, 'Ringleader' aims to be an audible interpretation of big data, ubiquitous connections and the acceptance of corporate and government spying. Grim and mechanical by nature, the six tracks - named after leaked codenames of government tools used to watch on citizens - work as a soundtrack to the destruction of privacy: a cold reflection on this aspect of society and it's implications.

A: First up NUMBer delivers 'æther' which has been causing a stir off dubplate for a few months now. From the ting-a-ling intro we drop straight into a cheeky walking sub-bassline that'll bring joy to the faces of even the most hardened skankin' soldiers. This gets a proper energy lift from added tribal hand percussion sitting perfectly in the mix. The 2nd drop reveals extra descending bass plus some extra space and nails it. Check the clip for proof.

AA: Pon the flip SIBLA steps up with 'Trial'. Freshly moulded hi-hats lead us through the mysterious intro until (after a brief appearance in a rowdy courtroom) we embark on a dark cavernous ride constructed from prison door heavy drums and sick growling bass. As the bottom end switches to warm subs the top end trippy touches and treatments reveal an unearthly edge to this sneaky winner.

New 2 Track 12" release from Lamont for Swamp 81 sublabel, 81. Mastered at Metropolis

Moonshine Recordings continues to coordinate dub into all sorts of directions with its steady throughput of vinyl releases. This time around, it's the Spanish-based Bukkha to uplift all followers with two up-tempo rollers that take part in his crucial 'Ruling Sound' EP. His name has been all over the news inside bass culture lately, as the American released highly noted physical music on critical labels like Killa Sound and Dub-Stuy Records. He's been working his way to the top and the only thing the Moonshine Recordings imprint can do is support his efforts in pushing dub music to the masses at any given moment of the day.
On top of this wicked news, Portland's dub producer and engineer 'Skelli Skel' joins this session to frame the taste of the 'PDX Mandem' collective from back home. His love for complex rhythms and heavy bass lines fuel his adventure inside dub culture, something you'll hear when listening to 'MS028'. And with the familiar voice from don Junior Dread, who jumps in on the hype by illuminating the dub with carefully selected freedom of speech, it's the collaboration that speaks for itself. To top it all, TMSV is added to the release roster, a producer whose been dealing some serious damage with his inventive music repertoire. Whether it's music on the darker tip, or the more laidback sound, both Bukkha and TMSV know how to uplift and please their followers with bass-heavy, eardrums-teasing bass music.
Bukkha's 'Ruling Sound' leads his way through musicality by portraying the right balance of instruments and not to mention the gigantic bassline that disperses vibrantly through the lower bottom of the mix. The reigning vocal support from Junior Dread and dub techniques from PDX Mandem family Skelli Skell work out fantastically, as it makes this record come to life. Listen to the instrumental part that propagates in the exact sense of 'dub music', regardless of spinning on a higher beats per minute. The version 'Ruling Dub' by Bukkha himself plays a more meditative part inside your headspace; a clipping where basslines and effects will act up in a blurred version. It's the real attention to detail the American producer shares with remix boss TMSV, who hits fans with a darker joint that pays homage to Drum & Bass. It's aggressive stance forms the pinnacle of 'the right' B-side of a Moonshine Recordings plate. Just make sure you experience the second drop of this absolutely mammoth interpretation, as TMSV shuts down the place!

Always insightful, clever, and serious-as-your-life, Macka B delivers a lyric tailor-made for these treacherous times, a deeply insightful essay on the many ways fear is deployed as a Babylonian weapon to keep us passive, obedient, distracted, confused, and compliant. From Brexit to Trump, the message is both universal and very local.

Relicking a classic Horace Andy tune (we'll let you figure out which), a twinkling melody leads the way alongside militant snares and a darkly addictive bassline for a riddim grounded firmly in the 90s UK dub tradition. "Fear Dub" cracks open vaults of dubspace with Macka B's voice delaying into pure signal, and the bass heaving from reverbed depths. Percussion multiplies through the stereo field while skanks, synth, and tones cut through the darkness like thermal images in a dark night.

Adam Prescott has releases on labels including his own Reggae Roast, Liondub, Grand Ancestor and Trigram. Macka B is a veteran with no less than 100 releases on many of the greatest reggae labels of all time, including Black Scorpio, XTerminator, Fashion, Penthouse, and an especially long and amazing run of releases on Mad Professor's Ariwa label.

We are well-pleased to present the return of Tayo, veteran UK producer and selector absent from releasing music for a few years, now 'coming in strong, strong...' as the champion Earl 16 sings on a sweet paean to roots music itself.Flanged guitar skanks, a classic Cry Tuff horns chop, and melodica sweet-like-honey set the tone and vibe, before the full riddim drops all at once - a deeply melodic bassline, binghi drum, and a pounding kick, forging a steppers guaranteed to move dancers and get the most out of any system big or small.Tayo started the Cool & Deadly club night at Fabric in the earliest days of what would be known as dubstep, booking Skream, Mala, Youngster, Iration Steppas and his good friend Rob Smith. Tayo's own catalog stretches back to 2000 when he was crucial in the development of dubwise garage/breaks. His works include a seminal Fabriclive mix, and classic tunes alongside sparring partner Acid Rockers such as "Wicked Dub," 'Bloodline,' and later 'Vampayaa" on Scrub A Dub back in 2010.Originally written in a lighthouse in New Zealand, the riddim became a collaboration with Acid Rockers that we've been playing on dubplate for some time. Joining forces for the latest in Critical's Systems excursions are two of the UK's most trusted electronic hell raisers Sam Binga and Chimpo. Delving deep for five tracks of naughty, booty swinging bass music, 'For Those Who Like It Sweet' signs Systems off for the year in style.

'After what seems countless collaborative releases, Killawatt & Ipman start work under their new guise, Send. This first release on Ruffcut, albeit just one track, sees them progress their lack of respect for genre boundaries and conventional structures into a wonky, polyrhythmic, head-spinning salute to jungle, dub & grime.
The b-side brings one of the brightest young sparks in the scene, Gantz, on board for the remix. He works the original into a rolling,
dark side steamroller, like something from an 80's horror b-movie. Off centre rhythms, repetitive sequences and psychedelia pin this
track together providing an excellent contrast to Send's original.'

Ltd Vinyl Only release. With a vast new number of record labels surfacing during the ongoing resurgence of vinyl, it's now up to Green King Cuts to bring its own history in dub-minded bass music. The CEOs Jake Hennessy and Liam Conway, who grew up together, will do what's necessary to bring their values and those of their artists to a vinyl-only rundown - all for the love of sound-system music. The London born, Bristol based C-Side plays an important role in the first chapter of the label's future outline. He has been focusing on the aesthetics of dubstep for years and is known for his enthusiasm within the whole creative process. The sound he blazons has overtaken international waters and now it's time for his inaugural vinyl release. Its remixed by DEEP MEDi igniter Cessman, known for his anthemic collaboration with 'King' Kromestar called 'Kalawanji'. The bass veteran and front-man of the Dubliminal imprint never fails to deliver a quality remix treatment that forms an ode to uplifting dub music. 'Early Days Dub' pays homage to the golden era of dubstep, containing hits of dubwise elements, a ruff bassline and the all but vital amount of delay. C-side explores the foundation of the music by incorporating a beautiful alto saxophone sting from a close friend that fuels the nostalgic feeling of old-school dub. The London born, Bristol based artist uplifts a vibe that comes close to system sound. Cessman blurs the original dub version with a lot of wet reverb and an even weightier bassline. All present elements swirl around its foundation freely, giving the solid percussion and vocal sample the right place in time. There's no harm done when this built is played out loud in foggy basements. In fact it will bring forth the feeling of an old-school session purely for a skank & inner meditation.

Re-Release!
For the first solo EP on Horror Boogie, Fedka the Irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on Horror Boogie 01.

Fedka the Irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band Pest (Ninja Tune), alongside Ben Pest (Panic Bridge, Victim, Bonus Round). He is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. He has released on Panic Bridge, alongside the other Pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold.

Here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth 'Words for Friends', a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. Next up is 'One Uncertain Eyebrow', a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on.

On side B, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up 'Stick It' progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. Last but not least is 'You Only Die Once', another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line...
