Benny Page is very proud to play host to one of the latest hot acts to come out of Reading. Following on the heels of Serial Killaz, Zero G and of course Benny himself, the Engine Earz Experiment are about to blow sky high. 'Kaliyuga' has recently taken over Radio 1 with the likes of Zane Low, Hugh Stevens, Annie Mac, Mary-Anne Hobbs and Mista Jam all over it like a rash. They've even performed live at Maida Vale.

Hyperdub has long been a fan of grime don Terror Danjah's razor sharp productions, his unparalleled, skittering rhythm science, deadly riffs, brilliant technicolour synth squiggles, 'gremlin cackle' signature and general ear for a catchy tune. On this first EP for the label, he showcase two strains of his many skills. 'Acid' cranks up the energy, with an ascending synth crashing into stuttering drums and synths. They play hide and seek with each other for a bit, before the track unexpectedly breaks into a 4 / 4 house rhythm, and then shatters into pieces again. On the flipside, 'Pro Plus', Terror is joined by long time collaborator D.O.K for a slice of their classic sound - an infectious, twisted sickly sweet synth melody wrapped around syncopated, stop start drums to mean effect.

DZ hits the ground running, setting the mood for this tune with a synth that could easily be the prelude to an old warehouse track. About a minute in drops the extra wobbly bass that rides this banger to death coupled with weaving vocals, and what sounds to me like some '85 hip hop breaks slashed up and strewn throughout this heavy hitter.

DJ Mag review - 'Time for some droid-step anyone~ Warlock's 'Click Clack' is surely the sound of machines in serious distress, with its electronic oozings and screams quite pleasingly unnerving. Likewise Matt Green's devious 'No Options' lets the seeping sub bass speak liquid volumes. From the dark sophistication of ScanOne's 'The Vaults', to the funkier bleep-fest of Blackmass Plastics' 'Short Circuits', this technically elegant EP is as sharp as one of Gordon Ramsey's kitchen knives.

Rinse FM's breakfast show host, DVA is a producer with a unique take on the UK Funky bug, blending the stiff 8-bar funk of grime with a super-supple rhythmic sensibility, sewing neon colours with a laid back precision into his tracks. 'Natty' is a prime example; drums stagger like they're about to topple over, squelchy bass synths lock together a tough tribal drum pattern, liquid metal trickles around in the mix, and these contrasting elements react with explosive results on the dancefloor. On 'Ganja', a cartoonish ring-tone-friendly synth melody worms its way around tight soca-esque drums and housey organ stabs. Factor in the depth-charge 808 subs, steel drums and sparingly used ragga chat and you've got a technicolour Hyperdub debut fresh for 2010.
