Triage and The Bassist have been on the scene for a while now and we've been very impressed with their production. These guys clearly know their way round a synth and as soon as the needle touches the deck you'll see why. Both sides of this 12 are scattered with warping analogue bass riffs and steppy beats. Our debut is a tune that has been bubbling on the underground for a while a true clash of UK meets US. Rockwell takes the Cash Money Family (Lil Wayne, Birdman, Kevin Rudolf and the UKs very own International superstar Jay Sean) from the dirtee South to a whole 'nother place. Rockwell has been doing amazing things in DnB for a while now but this is something else. Soulful and Funky, Fast and slow. You feel the groove but can't quite place it. lol is a bit of an unusual project, it's just a thing in it's own right, it's not 'for' anything or anyone in particular, it's just an LP made by three bored people who like music that sounds like it did before the advent of the internet. The project was recorded in the bedroom of a warehouse conversion in Hackney Wick (bedrooms can be incredibly creative spaces, seeing as most of us were conceived in one) They wrote about self-obsession, social anxiety, drug abuse, and failed relationships using pre-21st century recording devices such as VHS tape, 70s valve microphones, analogue synths, cheap Argos catalogue guitars, and 80s drum machines. The resulting music was sent to a handful of people they thought were similarly musically inclined; people deeply into producer culture who never rabidly stuck to one way of doing things, in the hope that they might like it too. After a few positive responses, it was decided to keep the project close to where it was created and London based label Nonplus+ Records proudly put their name behind it. The name was chosen after a text conversation about potential band names - none of which sounded right - with the last suggestion being 'Polterchrist' which was replied to with a simple 'lol'. lol sounded neat so that was it. They liked the fact that it used to be an abbreviation for 'lots of love' but now just means 'laughing out loud'. It seemed to fit the cheap, cynical nature of what they'd written about... oh and it looks a bit like a person with their hands in the air.

Gerry Read's much loved 'Patterns' finally receives a limited edition vinyl run backed by new track 'Last Time' - available exclusively on vinyl. 'Patterns' brought euphoria to a dark dub/2-step sound and has been rinsed by forward-looking selectors like Untold, Starkey & Mumdance - and played on the world's smarter radio stations, Rinse FM, Sub FM, Subjam & Fevah. New track 'Last Time' is a slab of reverse-engineered, 2011 house music. A stepping woodblock rhythm pins down plaintive vocals as a spooked synth line controls the release. In any one else's hands that would add up to dark vibes, but Gerry crafts it to deliver bittersweet euphoria of the best kind. Expect to hear this track everywhere, from grimey backrooms in Bristol to Ibiza beach bars. Since receiving widespread acclaim for his first release from the likes of FACT, Sonic Router and other forward-thinking blogs, Gerry is now working on a number of different label projects, and collaborations with up and coming artists. Gerry recently returned to the UK after spending several years in Australia. The separation from the UK bass scene helped him craft his unique sound, while retaining a deep understanding of his musical influences. Sonically, comparisons range anywhere from Actress to James Blake, with a love for dusty, crushed, vintage sound. But few other producers can combine sonic warmth with real dancefloor energy. Unquote is the guise used by Russian electronic music producer Vsevolod Ermakov. He joins a trend of exciting new producers from eastern europe delivering a new interpretation of experimental drum & bass and dubstep. He has, to date, clocked up releases on some of the scenes most forward thinking labels, including a single on Med School and releases on Hospital and Influenza Media. He has also been tipped as 'one to watch' by London Electricity on the acclaimed Hospital Podcast. Cold Tenderness is, as the title suggests, an emotional and melancholy piece of ambient dubstep. It's stirring synths and haunting vocals create what is, quite simply, a breathtaking track that you will want to play again and again.
