Drum and Bass undoubtedly has it's birthplace in the UK, from where it was scattered across the world and re-interpreted in unique ways. San Francisco-based producer Antiserum steps up for Dub Police with two unique collaborations, featuring local producers Ill-Esha and 12th Planet respectively. His music is a masterfully crafted fusion of influences that results in a sound entirely his own, balancing light against dark and colour against pure bass pressure. Showcasing a deft musicality as well as an unrivalled talent for system shaking productions, Antiserum is taking the scene by storm. Releases on Narco.Hz, S.C.U.M and Argon amongst others have already propelled him to the forefront of the rapidly growing American dubstep scene, with plenty more still to come.On the A side, he is joined by Ill-Esha on 'Zephyr', a sick g-funk inflected roller. Skittering hi-hats and tough drums lay the foundations on this one, with the deep, smooth bass sweeping underneath. The vibrant synths weave in and out of each other with ease, swimming around the mix and swelling expansively through the speakers. On the flip he teams up with 12th Planet on the massive 'Purple & Gold'. The g-funk influences continue to flow through this track, pinned down by a hard bassline and taut drums. The shimmering synths sliding over the top of the percussion and off into the atmosphere give the track an epic stop-in-your-tracks effect.

Benton is making a name for himself in the dubstep scene with his dark and brooding productions. He's released on labels like BoxClever and Biscuit Factory but he's most well known for his tracks on N-Type's Wheel & Deal imprint. New-ro-phen / Smash The Badger

Gold' is the new single from Darkstar's highly anticipated debut album 'North'. In contrast to last year's very popular 'Aidy's Girl Is A Computer' 12', 'Gold' is indicative of Darkstar's current direction as a three piece group. The single is an inspired cover of 'You Remind Me Of Gold', a Human League b-side from 1983, prompted when the band heard the original 45rpm record played at 33rpm. Rich piano lines, elegant synths and gauzy micro-rhythms accompany lead singer James Buttery's languid, computer-processed vocals, to create a poised and quietly epic song that will stay with the listener for ages to come. On the flip side, up and coming Berlin-based producer John Roberts, known for his output on Dials, creates a track that recalls classic early house, twisting the piano figure into energetic shapes over a deep melodic bass-line, somehow keeping the softness and atmosphere of the original locked into the mix.

So as Winter seeps away and the frost melts we at Duff Disco are getting ready for these sidewalk, hot summer nights, radio bout to blow, small talk under the lights, feel the heat wild and sweet, Duff Disco returns with his peerless edit series clocking in at a number 5, yeah, a fist full of dollars, the five knuckle shuffle of releases. Sticking to the slo and sexy formula 'Catch Me Out 'and 'You Wish' are two sultry jams signalling that spring is approaching and all the ladies will begin removing the layers and making the days instantly seem brighter.

Kari Guðmundsson aka. HYPNO hits TEAL002 with two exciting pieces lying somewhere inbetween dubstep, house and garage. KOKO is a hypy swingtime-jam ready to make dancefloors go nuts; thrilling percussive variations, deep sub hits and nutty samples. The more soulful, yet experimental ANALIES, draws on HYPNOs signature percussion. Adding sampled vocals, effective kick-drum patternshifts, takes the listener off-guard! Truly, a top shelf twelve! DJ supporting include: RAMADANMAN/PEARSON SOUND, BLAWAN, HACKMAN and DJ DONGA.

Jack Beats single new single on Hervé's label Cheap Thrills; 'All Night' featuring John B. This one may well prove to be the soundtrack of many a sleepless night, so a pretty apt name for a banger of a track. Spaced out bleeps and soulful vocals lull you into a false sense of serenity before the synth stabs and trademark Jack Beats bass slap you about the face and remind you that you're here to dance, you pussy. The track, features a crushing remix from Skream.

wo brand new tracks from Bristol's emergent House prodigy. Batty Knee Dance brings ultra syncopated 808s, neurotic synths and a mournful vocal refrain together in a tightly packaged low drag configuration. Ribble To Amazon maintains the levels of 808 astro physics but heads for the great outdoors with subtly staggered pads and an impossibly delicate Lepidopteran melody basking in a 16:9 sunset. Exclusive to the digital Grand National winds down with wistful synth trumpets and a rhythmic strut perfectly aligned with the greatest roller disco ever.

Hum + Buzz return with their first release of 2011 from label co-founder Optimum. After releasing his debut EP 'Max Power' for Planet Mu in 2010, contributing to the excellent Night Slugs Allstars Vol. 1 and Modeselektion Vol. 1 compilations, Optimum returns on Hum + Buzz with two sci-fi, dancefloor tracks. 'Light Year' is a 4X4 time travelling excursion through brass rhythms, dotted arpeggios and razor sharp percussion. Gangsta techno meets UK bass, a crossover that Optimum seems to be making his own. On the B side 'DS10', named after (and partly made on) the Korg software for the Nintendo DS, is a menacing march that progresses into the unknown. All superfluous elements are discarded; the track focuses squarely on the relentless bassline and unpredictable 808 drum pattern. With these minimal ingredients combined, DS10 is a certified sound system bomb!

The second release from the Dark Arx imprint sees the label head step up to the plate with an E.P release of his own. Released on May 3rd 2010, Blood Vein and Streak balance heavyweight swung rhythms with scorched Detroit melodics. Final track Argent & Sable strips the beats to leave a soundscape of dusted drones and bass tones. this release compresses these musical roots, blending the hypnotic structures of techno and emotive electronics with dance-primed rhythms of the UK's shape-shifting bass scene. Sonic comparisons include Peverelist, Scuba, the technicians of the Berlin scene and the Basic Channel continuum.

Not everyone merits having their debut vinyl release on Skream's label Disfigured Dubz - Kulture did though, with his wicked mix of original dubstep stylings with totally fresh ideas and sounds. He dropped another hot EP for Skream and now rocks up on Reduction with a rather tasty plate.

'Spooky' is the perfect title for the A side, as unsettling piano and darkside strings build haunting vibes before the almighty drop - tough, energetic drums, speaker-worrying bass and a spectral synth line that walks through walls.

'Bittersweet' reinforces Kulture's connection to the classic dubstep sound
- a sinister intro of menacing pads and echoing bleeps leads into a hard swung beat and slabs of sub-bass, laced with cooling organs and ongie-bongie percussion for heads in the know.

Data and the guys from Dubzilla bring two monsters from him to their first release. Both tracks have his trade mark production which is deep, dark and heavy. Minimal glichy drums and a grinding bline set you up for a ride then the sub bass cracks open your head! Little white lies has a crisp kick and snare that has time and space to create the scene, haunting vocals then take over with a killer bass this track is so deep you could drown in it. Acid techno samples flow in and out of the tune totally flipping the script from time to time.
