The latest Immerse cut sees the label tapping once again into the fertile waters of haunting, leftfield 4/4, showcasing the hitherto unknown talents of El Kid. The eagle-eared out there may have picked up on the Young Echo radio show, which features Sam Kidel (to his folks) alongside West-country compatriots Kahn, Vessel and Zhou showcasing their new tracks and mixes. For most though, this will be the first they hear of the Bristol-born, Brighton-based producer. On both tracks the synthetic sheen of Detroit techno gets refigured into an almost downtempo kind of house music. The melody is king, whatever sonic texture it might manifest in, leaving you with ample layers to get engrossed in. That same quintessential yearning quality ensures that these first offerings from El Kid fit perfectly into the Immerse canon. It'll shake the right kind of dancefloor, but it'll also tug at the right kind of heart-strings as well.

In 2006 Jacky started the Little Island project, collaborating in Brighton and Barcelona with UK producer Kion on dubby, deep, rootsy material. Continuing in the same vain of previous releases, R1 Ryders shift up a gear and never before has Funkitek sounded so vigorous and developed. The lead track 'Mars' takes you on a journey to the red planet, sounding imperious and bossy with a controlled flavour of assertiveness. 'Mars' shrewdly combines versatility with a sense of freedom ensuring it lives up to its title. Bass heavy stabs, energetic beats and that unforgettable breakdown make this track a sure fire dance floor banger that will work for a wide range of DJ's across the galaxy and beyond. The second track 'Deep In The Jungle' is reminiscent of a late night adrenaline fuelled high speed chase through the depths of the Jungle that leads to stunning views of the horizon in the distance. Elements of Jungle, house, dubstep and techno make this a Funkitek dancefloor destroyer. 'All Nite' takes you back to the warehouse raves of the 90s and conjures up the feelings of yesteryear with its smooth and subtle arrangement. The Tecnho-esque kick that pulsates throughout the track carries ravers all night and into the morning and until night is more.The final track on the EP, 'Basswave' is a forward thinking cheeky number, with its wild whirlwind bass, crazy carnival stabs and rolling percussion, rounding off the EP in fine style.

Having been involved in music since the mid-nineties and producing seriously since May 2010, it was Daves creation under the System Status moniker that caught the attention of Untracked Recordings. Released in November 2010, Downtime was his debut release and a lifetime goal crystallised in 180 gram wax that went on to receive airplay from Gilles Peterson.

After releasing two hype EPs already this year ('Motherboard' on Hardrive and 'Lighter' on Formula), one of UK Funky's most prolific producers wastes no time in striking again with 'Sensitivity' - something a little less aggressive than usual but still maintaining the fierce danceable groove that Champion is famed for. Ruby Lee Ryder lends her vocals to the A-side's silky production; with delicate harmonies she sings in a lullaby fashion to sweetly compliment the subtle synth stabs and refined chopped bassline. Champion's signature raw drum programming is still on show, although less prominent, fuelling the track with plenty of natural rhythm and adding to its sultry nature. Only the second release on Champion's newly-minted Formula Records imprint, 'Sensitivity' has gained early support from Mistajam, Marcus Nasty and Cameo as well as featuring on Ben UFO's current 'Rinse 16' mix compilation. The B-side sees Champion in more familiar dancefloor territory with the unrelenting 'Tun Up Di Bass', bound to please fans of 130 BPM bass music from the likes of Redlight and Roska.

As 2011 unfolds, LD very much retains his own sound drawing from his roots: drum pan sounds of Jamaica resonating throughout, flashes of soca drums, subtle tribal nuances, and the ghost of jungle reverberating in the warm, pulsating sub bass. It seems now is very much the time for LD to make the transition from behind the scenes and into the limelight.

V.I.V.E.K returns for his last output of 2011 and what a year it's been for him. His set with Goth-Trad at the DMZ 6th Birthday is being hailed as one of the sets of 2011 this was quickly followed by Vivek being signed to booking agents ESP. His release's this year as you would expect have been heavyweight, Pulse & Roots (Medi037) followed by his immense EP 'Eyes Down' (Medi042) featuring Big Bang, Spread Love, Sirens and of course Eyes Down. It was after this release that he received a call from original Reggae dons Greensleeves and was asked if he would be interested in remixing the Roots/Reggae classic Johnny Osbourne - 'Fally Ranking' for a forthcoming compilation, he obliged and turned out an incredible remix with a heavy nod to the old skool Steppa's and one of his musical heroes Jah Shaka.So back to the release in hand, we hope you have a good set of Sub's because you're going to need them.... 'Soundman' is as dark and cold as it gets, a hard, minimal underground riddim charged with some intricate Techno running's and a suffocating density 'Diablo' starts where 'Soundman' left off, more relentless dark, subbed out chest rattling tension from the Soundsystem man V.I.V.E.K.

Favourites of everyone from Sinden to Mary Anne Hobbs, R1 Ryders follow up the excellent Full Throttle EP with this newie from their self-titled label. Mixing grime, tech and UKF perfectly, these tunes will slot into a huge range of DJ boxes - the awesome 'On Your Marks' especially, with its lazer-guided synth melodies, heavy wobble bass and funkified drums making it a real standout. The strings 'n' bounce of 'Cyber' is similarly epic, while the itchy tech-funk of 'Pop Shit Off' is frankly begging to have the acapella from Ludacris' 'What's Your Fantasy' plastered over it - such is the similarity between their bassy stabs and off-kilter rhythms.

The first extended player from Detroit born, Adu Dhabi based, Teenage 'One to Watch' Darling Farah. Four tracks of deep techno and future house with warmth and soul. Stripped down 5.a.m atmospherics, combine with distorted stabs, dub-like sub-bass and expertly cut vocals. EXXY is destined to make the floor move and propel its nineteen year old maker further into the spotlight. Originally from Detroit, Farah was born into this world with techno already sewn into his DNA. His later relocation to the U.A.E, which is one of the most club baron countries in the world and to a city that actually prohibits live music to be played in public, only further resolved the isolated Farah to embrace his musical heritage. EXXY opens with the eponymous title track. Synths stab over the desert wind and sparse percussion builds as 'EXXY' begins to jack. 'Younger' is understated yet tribal & anthemic. As it throbs & pulses the breathy chopped R'n'B vocal hook reverberates with the narrative of Farah's own story. On the flip 'Crown' shows a maturity implausible for his years, Detroit flavoured techno stealthily delivered. The EP finishes with the futurism of 'Show Me,' where emotive distorted chords mix with fragments of haunting vocal soul. At sixteen Darling Farah was instrumental in developing an underground scene that resists the lockdown of the U.A.E's mainstream culture and was applauded by 'DJ' Mag's Middle East Edition as a star in the making. Almost entirely cut off from western music, this new circle of producers had to rely on sharing music via the internet and performing at small secret house parties. Three years on Darling Farah is the living embodiment of an internet generation producer. Last October we glimpsed the first taste of Darling Farah in the shape of 12 'Berline', which was quickly followed by an appearance on the Truants Compilation alongside Brenmar amongst others. Darling Farah, born Kamau Baaqi is relocating again in September 2011, this time London beckons and access to so much of what he's has been missing. With more releases on the way and an album scheduled there seems to be no limit to what this precocious young producer is capable of.
