This is the sort of music I would listen to if I cruised the streets of San Francisco in the evenings. As 'Back To The Bay' wraps up and pulls us into his remix of 'Screw Up,' we get a dose of Subscape's intensity, but it's quickly pulled back into Matty G's signature low-bass, hip-hop/dubstep fusion beats. 'Jam Like A Tek' adds in some vocal hooks to get the crowd chanting - and you're missing out if you don't add this into your mix. Deep kick drums, a snappy snare, big distortion on the scratchy bass wobbles, and the vocals all come together perfectly to create a track that'll get people grinding like mad on the dancefloor.

EP Part 1: Undercoat leads the first part in typical DjRUM style, multiple layers of gravelly, heavily charged atmosphere, ever shifting beat patterns, murky pockets of drums and percussion and his trademark use of epic strings. This moody cut builds and builds throughout and before you know it the beats have jumped from half step into sultry techno. Mountains pt 1 on the flip picks up from where Undercoat left off, dropping straight into pulsing techno drums that gallop away and build into sheets of shifting emotive synths, accompanied with haunting vocals snippets. Packed with detail and nuance, this track keep on giving with every listen. The illustrator on this release is the incredibly talented Matt Taylor from Brighton. What an insane track! This is the kind of ear-gasmic production you would expect from SKiSM and Flux Pavillion, with mad bars from the Foreign Beggars. We have been waiting for a new Flux Pavillion release for a while, and perhaps the December release of this track signifies the release of other material from Flux Pavillion, maybe even collaborating with SKiSM.

Here we have the next instalment from the ever popular Underground Music imprint. This time they bring the 145bpm pressure and take things a little darker by signing two monster tracks from Monstroso.

Matt-u returns to Subway with a spectaculair EP entitled Straightened Up. Everybody knows the murcky dark sounds of Matt for a long while now but on this EP his flexes his muscles to a different side.

Coventry based producer, District (aka Daniel Mills) is a relative newcomer to the dubstep scene. Focusing primarily on the deeper and darker tones that surrounded him through playing in metal bands as a teenager, his productions have earnt early support from the likes of Distance and Youngsta. Districts own take on bass music harks back to the genres earlier days, employing a stripped back and doom-laden attitude to beats and bass. 2011 see's District join the Chestplate Records family, a label led by one of the scenes originators DJ Distance. As well as working on individual musical projects, District's collaborative work with label peer and long-time friend Sleeper blends their shared vision on darker sounds, creating atmospheric and sub frequency-heavy rollers.District's first release comes in the form of CHST013, a 12 single on Chestplate comprising of the tracks '3.5 grams' and 'Haymaker', showcasing the producers developing skills and intent. Both tracks have seen heavy rotation via radio support on Radio 1xtra, Rinse.FM and Get Darker as well as maintaining regular plays in the sets of Distance, Tunnidge and Jack Sparrow over the last 12 months. Looking to the future, District plans to work more with Sleeper, developing their production style as well as making live appearances on Rinse.FM, guest mixing for Kongkrete Bass's seminal Kongkast podcast series and in clubs.

Since the slew of EPs that had us and more raving about the UK Funky producer in 2008, Roska has gone from strength to strength, touring America, and releasing his debut album, Roska on Rinse FM's label. Now he releases an EP by fellow upstart DJ Naughty on his Roska Kicks & Snares label. DJ Naughty is the fresh young sensation hailing from North London, England. He is very popular with in the UK music industry and it is said that he is responsible for introducing Funky House to a much wider and younger audience. In 2007 DJ Naughty became one of the must have DJs for any big event and regularly featured at Garage Nation, Climax and Garage Fever. He is also a resident for Female Skanker and spent the summer of 2007 in Ayia Napa 'Tearing down the island' as a raver so nicely put it.

Having already been all over the airwaves with 'Wildfire' by SBTRKT on which they feature, they are is set to continue their meteoric rise to success with the release of 'Ritual Union' which has already bagged plays from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Lauren Laverne, who said they are 'the coolest band in the world right now'. DJ Shadow seems to agree, having asked them to collaborate on a track for his long-awaited new album.
12' comes with an acapella version of 'Ritual Union' and two remixes. One is a super smooth offering from on-the-rise German producer Tensnake and the other comes from house producer du jour Maya Jane Cole

Numbernin6 is no new comer to the Dubstep scene, but this is his first record for London label Smokin Sessions. The recordings are blissful and floaty, as you would expect from Smokin Sessions and really shows off what Numnernin6 can do when he goes deep. The whole EP is masterfully produced and you can really hear these tracks have been given a lot of attention. I can't pick a favourite, but all 3 are a great listen. Sit back, relax and spark it up rude eye!

Having released the anonymous and enormous F**k Yonkers bootleg earlier this year, the Amsterdam based Audio Culture Label is poised to unleash their first official release,,a piece of music which is the result of the collaborative efforts of Dutch wunderkind Presk and Amsterdam's premier tastemaker Cinnaman. In part, Pieter 'Presk' Willems' support is responsible for the label's inception. In a short space of time Presk has built up a solid and impressively distinct sounding catalogue of work released on respected imprints such as Ramp sister label Fourth Wave and Doc Daneeka's Ten Thousand Yen. Making a name for himself with nothing more than his hands and impeccable taste, Yuri 'Cinnaman' Boselie has become somewhat of a musical institution in Amsterdam. He's the man behind the ground breaking Colors nights and is responsible for the equally forward thinking Beat Dimensions compilations.The B-side features two expertly remixed and uniquely different takes on the original, courtesy of non other than Instra:mental's Jon Convex and Ten Thousand Yen head honcho Doc Daneeka.

Is there anything left to say about Oliver 'Skream' Jones the original Dub-step wonder kid that hasn't already been said, probably not, but for those of you that don't know here's a brief history. Skream is one of the founder members of the then UK's Dubstep movement alongside Digital Mystikz, Benga, Loefah, Kode9 etc and has taken the scene from its original darkest depths of Croydon to the top of the worldwide charts in less than 7 years. Currently one third of the chart topping super group 'Magnetic Man' alongside Artwork and Benga, the latter with whom he has travelled the globe DJing, selling out clubs, gigs and festivals wherever they go and who now have a semi regular prime time dance show on BBC Radio 1 showcasing the freshest and heaviest Dubstep joints. I think it's safe to say without Skream the world of Dubstep would be in a very, very different place.Although some of Skream's recent productions are finding their way onto daytime radio he has always been an ambassador of hard experimental underground UK dance music and this is exactly what he has delivered for DEEP MEDi. Gritty & Phatty Drummer are his second release for Mala's (label and showcase Skream's unquestionable production talent and ear for some of the coldest, stripped back skeletal rhythms around, both tracks are packed with enough dread and sub-weight to give you nightmares, strictly soundsystem music...

'Look to the east for the coming of a black king.'Having smashed dancehalls and festivals throughout Europe over the last 7 years, Trojan Sound System have returned to the studio following their critically acclaimed debut album on Trojan records, 'New Rebel Stories'. The songs evolved on classic Reggae anthems in a live sound system context and are now being translated into studio tracks. Debuted at Outlook festival's main stage a few weeks ago, it destroyed thousands of reggae, dubstep and jungle heads.Trojan Sound System is the performance unit of legendary reggae label Trojan Records. The Sound comprises Daddy Ad, Earl Gateshead, Superfour, Chucky Banton and Jah Buck, all top performers on the London and European sound system scene. They perform at festivals and reggae events all over the world and have crossed over into Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and Dance music clubs and festivals. Recent main stage slots include Camp Bestival, The Garden Festival, Soundwave festival, Reggae Sun Ska and Outlook festival amongst many others. Last year they also sold out two shows at London's Koko, a serious feat and a benchmark in this authentic reggae sound's fanbase and potential and return to Koko on October 15th. They are also playing an in-store at London's Rough Trade East in late September. 'Turn to the East' was written by Superfour, TSS's energetic and blind vocalist with conscious lyrics and a passionate delivery. The heartfelt chorus is sung by Chucky Banton. The title is inspired by the biblical reference 'Look to the east for the coming of a black king' and celebrates numerous black aspirations. Musically, it uses contemporary forms to produce the feel of an '80s roots 12' with overpowering bass driving it throughout. Two times DMC champ and Beardyman collaborator, JFB, unleashes a relentless dubstep remix of the track on the B side. There are a string of single releases in the run up to the album on TSS records limited edition white label with more from Toddla T, Jerry Dammers and many more at the production helm with Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad.

The second release on Hidden Tracks by DJ Hidden continues to stretch boundaries and explore pathways of what might not even really be drum & bass. Drastic, the first track on this release, is as much a statement to that fact as it is an entire DJ set condensed to just a little over 6 minutes.

Glasgow's Taz Buckfaster - or just 'Taz' - was one of Rwina's earliest discoveries. His two EPs on Rwina have leaned towards the dubstep side of things, imbuing them with the playful hip-hop inspired mischief that remains the Rwina trademark, playing with dub skank on 'Kingston Bridge' and sending off firecrackers of concentrated synth melody in nearly uncontrollable bursts on '20 Red'. ***clear vinyl***
