He's been a busy man of late with releases on Hypercolour amongst others, but this one sees him return to Exit with two quality cuts of 170 freshness. Celebrating a landmark tenth release, Biscuit Factory Records brings two absolute stompers. The A side is Creature, a LAXX and Farkas collaboration. On the flip LAXX and Soap Dodgers team up with Hi Rolla.
Creature is a 4x4 combo with a smooth hypnotic vocal that drops into a heavy bassed, techy roller. The Biscuit Factory is set to full speed on this one with industrial synths and weighty stabs crashing over the raw upfront bassline.
Hi Roller is a dance floor club smasher. Dark robotic basslines and pure weight make this a perfect flip to Creature. The low sub bassline and hard punchy drums combine with light melodies in the breakdown to make a track that turns speakers inside out and shreds clubs to pieces.Creature and Hi Rolla have been a staple in Walsh's sets over the last few months, destroying raves across Europe. Huge support also coming from N Type on his weekly Rinse FM Wheel and Deal Records show, Hatcha (KISS FM, Sin City Recs) and Skream and

6 years ago, Misanthrop & Aqua Luminus III. released the "Leinwand EP" on Audiac Records (an early subdivision of Equinox Records) as a 10inch picture disc. With their new collaborative offering, under the self-explanatory title "6 Years Later EP", the two producers combine once again.The formula for their music has stayed the same: heavy beats, alongside raw cuts and samples blended together to create another banging electronic Hip-Hop release. However, it also offers some surprising new sounds as well as astonishing guest features: Underground hip hop legend 2Mex (Visionaries, SonGodSons), Fake Four's very own Ceschi and UK rapper James P Honey provide superb lyrics and flows on "20 Stories Later", the only non-instrumental track on the release. Additionally, the German turntablism legend DJ Stylewarz is cutting on "The 1 Billion Euro Song" alongside Munich's DJ icon Al Rock. Another skillful and mightily talented turntablist, SNTC, provides the scratching on "57 Bars Ahead".
The "6 Years Later EP" features six tracks as well as two bonus tracks on the digital release. A definite sureshot in every record collection, refined with a fresh cover provided by The Raincoatman, the EP is released on July 20 as a limited edition 10inch.

From the Horizon' is Débruit's debut album. It is the culmination of 3 years work, collecting field recordings, delving into restricted archives, sampling lost African VHS and reinterpreting discovered African melodies and rhythms, for synths and drum machines.This is a remarkable record, filled with groundbreaking combinations of style and sound, constructed with passion and energy, driven by adventure and ideological principle and packed with intrigue, authenticity and tribute. Perhaps even more importantly this record is fun, and never does its depth displace its energy, groove or feel.Inspired by Western African music past and present Débruit splices the musical roots and subsequent evolutionary patterns of Benin, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria and beyond. He set out to harness the creativity and rawness of the music, from tribal beginnings through to 70's highlife and psychedelic afro funk. Despite the clear inspiration, his challenge was not to emulate but to incorporate, to fuse the musical expressions of the many different cultures and eras with those of his own, to create something new and unheard.
Débruit's genre swerving approach to making music has always been unrestricted and on 'From the Horizon' he has deliberately created truly original pieces with unique combinations of instrumentation and style, in such a way that they feel natural, expected and time honoured. For example on 'Afro-Booty Musique' where traditional drums form a booty Chicago house structure and combined with talk box and guitar, or on 'Mega Wagna' where funk leads and syncopated vocals are coupled with Gnawa music (a mixture of sub-Saharan African and Berber songs, where one phrase or a few lines are repeated over and over and songs can last for hours.) Such diverse combinations can be heard throughout the record as can the influence of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and Benin whose advanced drum patterns are combined with Débruit's bump-hop beats and low-slung bounce. These African influences run concurrently with the ever present ideals of Hip Hop. Its openness to other musical styles via sampling can be consistently identified, never more so than in 'Cuivree' where African TV samples are crossed with lo-fi horns and 808 percussion or on Rêve Du Niger where an early recording of a throat singing child from Niger is looped, layered, re-sampled.Tribal rhythms and looping vocal samples appear in many guises, through the rattling high hats and sub bass of sonically flamboyant party starter 'Akoula', amongst the haunting, distant synth scape setting of 'Ouest Wind's Seagulls' or in the epic closing piece 'The Day I Lost My Funk', where African instrumentation pre-empts a climaxing finale of deep electronic bass and 808 kicks.
This stunning debut deserves repeat listens and much contemplation. Indulging in its many dimensions is continually rewarding. Its true excellence is in the effortless enjoyment that it provides, engaging listeners on many levels, without its depth ever becoming a barrier, providing pleasure for all, from the casual listener through to the seasoned ethnomusicologist or surrealist philosopher.

The next release in Trojan Sound System's limited edition 12' series is 'Africa', a song written with Superfour and produced by Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad. Road tested at jump up gigs and festivals throughout Europe this summer, 'Africa' is smashing dance floors left, right and left of center. With real instruments, real musicians and quality production, the result cuts through the Dance music and Reggae clutter to deliver an authentic Reggae and Bass Culture song that gets every floor moving and jumping.The song reflects the deep felt need which all people of African descent, now living all over the world feel for their original homeland. This desire was first expressed by Marcus Garvey, while he was living in the USA where he proposed the building of a string of 'Black Star Liner' ships, to take the people back to their motherland. Although the song concerns the wishes and hopes of Africans, anyone who feels alienated or dispossessed, can empathise with the yearning to be somewhere else, either on this planet, or beyond it, which underpins the track lyrically and musically.Aside from the original vocal track and instrumental on the outer cuts, the 12' also includes two killer remixes. Darkstarr Diskotek are legendary dance music producers, Ashley Beedle and Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, using their vast experience and talent as some of the world's most qualified DJs to stretch the original in to an extended dance floor arrangement and work out. The second mix comes from DMC champ and Drum and Bass and Dubstep producer extraordinaire, JFB, taking the musical vibe of 'Africa' into strictly bad bwoy Junglist territory.'Africa' will soon be released digitally as an E.P, alongside TSS's other 12' limited edition singles, with instrumentals, remixes and more exclusive tracks. On hearing Oberman Knocks' second album Beatcroff Slabs, label owner Andrea Parker suggested to Knocks that they should think about an accompanying release of remixes, and so between them they drew up a wish-list of artists which they'd like to ask.

Flying the flag for the Kazakhstan, Command Strange has been making waves in the electronic music circles in recent months, with releases penned in for Metalheadz, Grid Recordings and Integral. He now switches tempos with two accomplished, rugged and soulful Dubstep productions.

Still riding high after the success of his debut releases on Black Box sister labels XXX and Box Clever, the prodigal son returns home with two aurally sturdy, yet adventurous riddems.

In May 2011 Mala (Digital Mystikz) travelled to Havana, Cuba with Gilles Peterson to record and collaborate with local musicians. The results are documented on his album 'Mala in Cuba' - scheduled for release on Brownswood Recordings on 10th September 2012. The album will be preceded by a 12'' featuring 'Cuba Electronic' and 'Calle F' released on 6th August 2012.A devotee of Jamaican sound system culture, Mala led from the front as the first waves of so-called ''dubstep'' filtered out from Croydon's Big Apple Records, battering bassbins across South London in 2002/03 alongside the likes of Skream, Benga, Coki and Loefah. Fiercely independent, he co-founded the label and legendary club night DMZ (with Coki and Loefah) and has produced some of the scene's most vital and acclaimed tracks as Digital Mystikz. He also established his own imprint - Deep Medi Musik - in 2006 as an outlet for his own sonic experimentations alongside those of his favourite producers. Mala is universally respected as an innovator and leader not only within the global dubstep movement but also within the broader electronic realm.The results of a true culture clash, 'Mala in Cuba' marries the intricate rhythms and deep, spiritual roots of Cuba with Mala's own roots in South London and his dedication to bass culture.These 2 tracks are exclusive to this piece of vinyl and will not be included in the Mala in Cuba 4 piece vinyl box set.

Languid tones , layered percussion this introduces a heavenly female vocal drifting upon a bumping 175 rhythmic undercarriage, with growling echoing and reverb atmosphere bed to form the perfect backdrop to the lyrical sentiment delivered in a resigned yet accepting manner.

Genetix are back with a 3 track EP that is in your face, signature Genetix business! Data Transfer has received support from Inspector Dubplate, Hatcha and N-Type to name and few. Resistance and Fusion are a little different to what you would expect from Genetix, but production value is on another level. Really clean and punchy and those subs will make your jeans shake!

Soap Dodgers long awaited Unleashed EP, featuring tracks battered by N-Type Youngsta, Hatcha, Dismantle, MistaJam and Tubby Newham Generals.Unleashed: Unleash the beast! Skanking dark half stepper with the energy to match any tear out tune. Bassline is raw and twisted, dark and industrial. This track is thick with sub, but spacious following the code of the original dubstep sound.Waterlanding: This track was championed by Youngsta late last year. Future dub technologies, skanking reggae dub style with a 2012 twisted bass and 808s.Strobes: Catering for the more jump up side, this is the lighter side of the E.P, as its title suggests, rave driven glitchy, hard and furious. Reminiscent of Benga and The Others.Twister: Euphoric build ups, industrial filtered bass, and a sample that spells it all out; Twisted! A favourite with N-Type & Walsh.

As a prelude to his second album for Hyperdub, due in September, 'Dark Crawler' sees Terror Danjah drop punchy, manic beats and claustrophobic stabs on this bloodthirsty grime banger, with grime's original London Warlord Riko Dan spitting patois menace of the kind that might make MI5 raise their terrorist threat levels. On the B side is the bubbler 'Fruit Punch', Terror's energetic, 8bar take on funky, which - by contrast - adds some fun to the militant proceedings. With a tight, rolling drum tattoo tearing across the mix, and a tropical melody sharing space with a bulldozer of sub-bass, it's a case of opposites attract.

The don Cyrus returns to Distance's Chestplate imprint for its 19th release due out this month — two dubstep monsters that pay close attention to space.The first, Nostalgia has seen deejay support from Icicle all the way to Skream & Benga. An energetic percussion performance with massive sub bass stabs, the tune brings fundamental minimalism to the darkness of dubstep and hardly occupies space between sub and drums save for massively delayed and reverbed voice and synth stabs and the occasional chord of color. Weighty. Rinse out imminent.On the flip is Rupture: bent out of shape, absolutely dread business. Look out for such subtleties as bit crushed snare reverb, white noise snares, and kick-snare syncopation thrown out of the hypnotic rhythm. Smart music — but we've come to expect nothing less from Cyrus and the rest of the Chestplate family.
