The Sub Squared label presents an EP by Kloke, a Melbourne based producer who captures the atmosphere and vibe of a variety of his native Britain's forms of electronic music without merely rehashing past genres: Jungle, Dubstep, Grime, Ambient and Techno are distilled into his original but familiar soundscapes. Kloke's back catalogue includes releases on Entrada, Granholme and Styles Upon Styles. On the first side the tracks are beat driven; two tracks with distorted drum machine at 120bpm providing the bones for reflective harmonic and melodic parts that are reminiscent of Jungle or Breakbeat Hardcore. The second side of the record is a mini album in itself; seventeen minutes of beatless music in three tracks. 'Ember' matches staccato rhythmic elements to thick lush pads, 'Yeman' employs a piano and cymbal sample over melancholy tones. The title track of the EP is a 10 minute medley of ambient music that ranges through moods of warmth, desolate electronic bleakness, unsettling menace and skin tingling nostalgia

* Minor Rain is an artist of real diversity and depth who has a deep emotive connection with the music he produces. An accomplished musician who plays piano and sax, drawing on influences from a range of diverse sources from film scores and sound design to artists covering all spectrums of electronic music such as Noisia, Audio, Amon Tobin and Hans Zimmer to name a few. Taking inspiration from artists of that caliber, high-end production values were always going to be an integral part of his work, this providing the foundation for his musicality, with the two elements complimenting each other perfectly. He's an artist whose aspiration is to produce something truly unique and original.

* His latest release, forthcoming on Addictive Behaviour, highlights his ability to not only work at different tempos but also how he's able to go from the melodic, to the dark and minimal or stylishly blending both laid over precision engineered drum edits.

* Shimmering high hats, reverbed bleeps and haunting strings open the Flux track before a short kick and snare leads to the breakdown. Crunchy vox sounds combined with filtered drums and metallic synths ready the track before dropping into a big growling metallically industrial synth and weighty sub that drives the track on. hats and shakers. A Live double bass add great character whilst the sub works out. The second drop switches into a mid
range and think monster.

Here, Alix takes the tools to Kalakuta, transforming the original's afrocentricity into a tense, punchy roller, dominated by a bass line which literally jumps in to your ears. Toss in a stabby synth line, rifle shot drums and plenty of bass with space, this a beautifully crafted refix.* On the artwork, we're really happy to welcome back the supremely talented Jimmy Turrell, a well-respected designer and illustrator who has worked with everyone from Fiat and Nike to The Guardian and Dazed & Confused. Asked once again to provide something inspired by Afrocentricism, he came back with a strikingly bold image that evokes the essence of the music.

Having released on Soul:R, SGN:LTD German DJ/Producer Amaning now gears up towards releasing his debut album on Celsius Recordings.

On the A-side we find Amaning teaming up with San Francisco inhabitant Submorphics. 'Looking Back' is an energetic, feel-good roller with vintage samples but still geared heavily towards the dancefloor.

On the flip Amaning and Substance come correct on 'Don't Stop'. With a more electronic feeling and anthemic bassline it completes this soulful liquid release with technical intelligence and a fresh outlook towards the full album. Enjoy!

Wilkinson is showing no sign of slowing down in 2014. 2013's most exciting and hottest new D&B producer and DJ is kicking up a storm already this year. Single Too Close ft Detour City was one of the most played songs across the UK clubs, and the video has already picked up over 1 million views. Next up, Wilkinson releases single Half Light, featuring Tom Cane on the 26th May. The single will be followed by Lazers Not Included 2.0, to be released through RAM/ Virgin EMI on 18th August.

Half Light is sure to be one of the festival anthems of the Summer. Anyone who was a D&B fan at the turn of the millennium will remember the impact that 'liquid funk' had on the genre. A rebellion against the techno-fuelled aggression that had dominated the scene for several years, liquid funk was spearheaded by then Radio 1 DJ Fabio and led to the rise of some of drum & bass' most respected artists and labels, from the mighty Calibre to the unstoppable Hospital Records.

Now, a decade and a half on, you might be forgiven for thinking that liquid funk's moment has passed. One listen to the playlists of Radio 1's elite will tell you otherwise, though. While the name might no longer be on everyone's lips the echoes of its sound still resonate today. You can hear them in the UK number 1 singles from Sigma, you can sense the euphoric overtones and rib-rattling basslines at feel-good drum & bass nights across the globe and over half a million subscribers worldwide follow the sound on Liquicity's own YouTube channel.

Since its inception the Liquicity brand has become a behemoth, selling out events across Europe and connecting their YouTube community in online and offline situations. Jehst takes the role of a hooded watcher in the shadows, overseeing everything that we're descending into, It's an overt commentary. The use of sample at the end of the track sums up what so many millions of us do without even thinking twice. It is By this point you begin to understand Om Unit has crafted a true extended project.

* The Crossing
The intro develops into a breakbeat roll out that is accented by this almost astral travel feeling that builds and builds into this sprawling track that has a deep sense of soul to it.

* Layers
A piece without drums or bass, the best way to describe this track would be a soundtrack piece, it immediately puts you at a point in a journey before the final battle commences. As much Bladerunner as Blue Note.

* Bardo Realms
The track begins with light pads and almost vocals and gives way to a filthy reese bass. On display is Om Unit's amazing ability to edit breaks into something altogether new, the funky drummer is now even more funky as it skitters over massive dubby bass.

* Understand
Perhaps the most complex track on the project, breaks chop against one another with bass lighting up the battle, and just when you think it's over the amen drops, murder. It's at this point that we we head into dancefloor destroyer territory for the album.

* Parallel
Half time grit, something you can imagine Loxy and Dbridge playing straight away, that dark low reese lit funk, it strides into Dillinja territory when enters its climax with massive saturated 808s setting the standard.
* Mystic
The last track on the album is minimal and tribal, it brings proceedings to a close in fantastic way, Paranoid and other worldly. The perfect final track to a hugely daring project on behalf of Metalheadz and Om Unit.

One the biggest, most respected and revered names in drum & bass is without doubt Shogun Audio's head honcho, Friction. 2012 is looking to be a pinnacle year for the DJ/producer as he readies not only his debut artist album but also gets set to take over the most prestigious job in the business; BBC Radio 1's flagship Drum & Bass Show. His first
single of the year is as you'd expect nothing short of mammoth; primed and ready to rock, this is polished D&B of the highest calibre.

High Contrast should need no introduction with a legacy as one of D+B's most recognisable and much loved figures. Since the release of his seminal debut, 'True Colours' in 2002, he's risen through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after DJs in the scene. His third studio album 'Tough Guys Don't Dance' (2008) followed 2004's 'High Society', and was succeeded by 'High Contrast: Confidential', a double-disc best-of compilation that fused the best of his own production with high profile remixes of The Streets, Adele and Basement Jaxx.

* The Return Of..
The A side is a darkside monster, centred around the pairs breakbeat and sub bass mantra. This time they go for a classic think break roll out, stepped out to perfection. The track is underpinned by a menacing rave stab. To put it simply - exactly what you would expect of Nucleus and Paradox on Headz
* Analogue Life
The title is very apt, you can hear the machines working away in this track. The drums are left with all their original character - full of warmth and pop. The pads hang over the track in a threatening manner with bass tones playing off one another. An exercise in restraint as the shaker doesn't drop till three minutes into the track along with off kilter FX and subtle percs.

* With hugely popular tracks and remixes from Verb over the last year or so on labels such as
Renegade Hardware" "Dispatch Recordings" and "117 records" comes verb's next installment of
solid releases which looks set to be very popular.
* This is the debut single to verb's brand new label opening with 2 tracks from himself which have
been widely sought after and looks set to be a real contender for the scene.
* "Warmonger" takes you back to a more organic sound to the d&b genre but with an updated
feel with twisted synths and pads to give it that futuristic vibe and keeping that underground
essence alive.
* "Poison Flower" Once again a trip down memory lane with a track that recaptures the essence
of the old skool days but again brought up to date with some angry underlaying synths and
intense sub base patterns to keep the moods moving
* Both these tracks are a good indication that verb is set to be taking things in the right direction

Records open on a Distorted Crossbreed superb killer... Second tune bring a more Hard jungle track, very in the Active underground jungle style. B-side offer a first superb deep-core tune, in a dubstep experimental style, melting calm and noise.
