Danny Scrilla returns to Cosmic Bridge!
The label that introduced him to the world with his stunning 'Flash Powder' EP in 2012 now gives you his 'True Sight' EP. Including a collaboration with label boss Om Unit, drawing on the hardcore continuum and regression in modernist music True Sight's soul-infused electronics and vintage sound should prove future-proof for the elusive soundboy.
Arriving on the crest of footwork's rhythmic experiments exploiting slowfast halftime tempos Scrilla's sound is hard to pin down, Dub and Soundsystem culture influence heavily, a legacy of his early work with Reggae and Dancehall sound system Rise and Shine', but as True Sight highlights again Scrilla resists categorisation. Dark, Moody and Energetic and with a crucial balance of dread, romance, sci-fi imagineering, eyes down spirit and heart-rushing rhythms this record will appeal to fans of Instrumental Hiphop, Liquid DnB, '06 OG Dubstep's dark sparse sounds, Jungle, House and left-field Techno.
While Helium might be the strongest sonic connection to Scrilla's past releases, it cuts it's own path. A stark rumbling low end tickler it's house fired off dubwise, switching detuned sidechain pads with a gorgeous rolling organ bassline, soulful female vox and slapping drums for some heads down stepping introspection. The ear-kissing dreamy cybersoul of Rigel7 shows a different side to Scrilla, Smokey instrumental hip-hop, classic Mo'wax downbeat moodiness, bittersweet jazz and brilliant pensive piano work are counterpointed by complex dynamics and warm rich sub-bass suggesting once again that hip-hop and dubstep might be closer cousins than is usually admitted. Jello's spacious heavyweight ruffage is built fortowering stacks and pitch-black rooms. A Prince Far-I vocal sample underlines the strong dub influence. and an off-grid sidestick percussion pattern breaks up the halfstep beat making for some twisted swaying dungeon vibes. Wrapping things up Om Unit gets in on the action with the aerobic noirish drumfunk of Free Flight and you can immediately hear the label bosses influence! Liquid and impressionistic nocturnal breakbeat geometries are anchored by darker, meaner bass and ruff sub pressure. When these two put their heads together few can test! The album here now at hand has been in work for more than a year. Just enough time for Sebastian Damerius aka ComixXx to bring in fourteen tracks which complete in its build up his
long-awaited solo album. For this cause he invited several guests to his Berlin based studio. Maybe first and foremost Alex Barck, who has been backing him up throughout all of the production process with his enormous experience and his beyond any doubt reliable sense of style. It has been Barck, too, how discovered the 15-year old singer Mirna in the school choir of his daughter and brought her to ComixXx' studio to record her self-penned Can U Feel'. That's also already the album's first hit, having been released already last year as a teaser with a wide response.

Neurofunk powerhouse label Eatbrain returns with its latest high quality offering, this time from the one known as L 33. The Bulgarian producer's futuristic, dancefloor-crushing sound has seen him rise to prominence over the last few years, with releases on a who's-who of neurofunk D&B labels. Now, he joins the Eatbrain fold with SCREAM EP - a fearsome 4 track offering of alien rhythms and sound design worthy of the most frenzied dancefloors.
L 33 leads off with the intricate 'Scream'. Setting the stage with a haunting synth pattern underlying arrays of distant percussion, L 33 punctuates the atmosphere with sharp, grinding stabs before dispensing a pleasingly disjointed groove of weighty bass notes and carefully placed medleys.
Next up, 'Digital Sound' wastes no time raising the pressure, building up before initiating a rolling, robotic funk complemented by a textured, distorted low end.
L 33 ingrains his sinister melodic palate on the high-octane 'Oscillation', while 'Calibrate' primes listeners with an eerie cascade of dissonant arpeggios before initiating an aggressive dancefloor rhythm to close out the release.
All in all, the SCREAM EP makes for a highly potent Eatbrain solo debut from the young Bulgarian talent - no doubt one of neurofunk drum & bass's rising stars. Expect no less from Eatbrain - purveyor of premier neurofunk drum & bass.

* After more than 25 years in dance music, Brazilian drum & bass pioneer DJ Marky has announced long-awaited debut artist album 'My Heroes' - scheduled for release in April this year.

* No stranger to success and an icon in his South American homeland, DJ Marky is an internationally renowned DJ and producer and label boss of his own Innerground Records imprint. Igniting dancefloors with with the same passion for music he first started producing with two decades ago, DJ Marky's compilations, mixes and remixes number over 100 - including edits for Everything But The Girl, Claude Van Stroke, Fatboy Slim and Deadmau5 - and it's high time he got to work creating an artist album.

Inside yourself is built on a techno stab and altered pads. The track is an attempt to fuse drum&bass with modern techno. This is the type of sound that I listen to when i go out clubbing. The only difference is that the tempo is usually 125-130 BPM. Berberian sound starts with a minimal beat and a agressive bass, arranged with fading arpeggios and sound effects. This track was inspired by the movie 'Berberian sound studio'. Surealistic and spooky.

Opening with a sprawling, rich, atmospheric soundscape that although maintains the identity of the original takes it

haunting and hanging vocal that dissolves away into the drop. An example of how to deliver clean but yet gritty drum
programming reminiscent of classic MetalHeadz. Altered, enhanced and superbly re-licked for 2015

A short octave changing chord gets this one underway before an urgent sounding phat kick and a huge cracking snare
prime the track for the introduction of a full, thick, pounding, rhythmic bass. And with plenty of subtle background noises
filling the track out, making this a big dance floor stepper, proper rolling vibes.
* VALHALLA - ED:IT
Starts off innocuously enough, some soft hat and tom toms with some dark wandering synthy goodness in the back-
ground. We're then treated to a little tease of the bass before dropping into a simply sick beat composition. Smartly
chopped up breaks give the track a nice busy aggressive feel to it that's balanced out perfectly with that rumbling beastly
sub bass, the track just flows, a remarkably well produced piece of DNB

Dancehall vocals and a huge no nonsense drum and sub rhythm lead the A side for this release. It's a style that Mikal has become a master at over recent releases and this just another example of his razor sharp production skill

The second track on the release adds a great variety to proceedings, it's a sprawling tech infused number with an ever moving bassline, almost nausea inducing in its execution, an unrelenting stepper.

* Control Of People w/ RIOT
Another rhythmically moving piece to finish off the release, it's a dancehall for the future- wicked drum fills keep things moving as the bass pounds through, percussion and vocal shots illuminate the track to its end.

Being a production line of carefully crafted composition with a meticulous production standard, Calyx & Teebee have delivered yet again. And after dominating the Beatport Top 100 with their most recent single 'A Day That Never Comes / Snakes & Ladders', they won't be applying the brakes anytime soon, especially in the lead up to their greatly anticipated second album on the Ram imprint.
Back on vocal duties, Calyx demonstrates the pair's multi-dimensional approach to beat making. With plucky percussion relaying you through bouncing subs and a drivingly solid bassline, it defines their vast repertoire of style. They're not scared to dip into unfamiliar territories, with Calyx's cool vocals sitting on top of lulling guitar rhythms to provide the first part of a diverse and brilliantly crafted record.
'Sawn Off' rolls out next; it's a grittier track than its predecessor, with a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, heighten by the effect of a cleverly placed sample. The track ricochets throughout, not losing momentum or impact, with an intricately weaved structure, one only achievable by a team who've been running the game for decades.
With an album laying just out of reach, each single is bringing us closer and closer to the inevitable. All four tracks prove their still a formidable force to be reckoned with; this LP will only emphasise that fact.

Quintessential stadium anthems are Delta Heavy's forte and 'Reborn' demonstrates how they've gained this reputation. Setting show stopping-agendas since their first release on the RAM imprint, this next one is no different, however, a cinematic roller isn't all this release has to offer. With remixes from Spoils and June Miller, there's a colour reel of sound spinning throughout; a host of tracks to suit every palette.

'Reborn' embodies exactly what Delta Heavy represents as a collaborative project. An arpeggio of notes leads delicately into emotionally charged vocals, pedestalling the record and creating a musically picturesque backdrop. With the undertow of a pounding morphine bassline and the relentless instrumentation of jungle infused drums, there's no mistaking the artists' nod towards their harder productions. Epic, timeless and puffed out with a grandeur composition, Delta Heavy have yet to disappoint.

On the remixes, June Miller carefully crafts their take against the original, uncompromising yet delicately woven and not without its predecessors' emotional crescendo. And lastly, Spoils introduces us to a genre-infused uptake that catches you unaware, with a steppy melody which stays true to its roots yet delves deep into Spoil's production aptitude.

So once again, it's time to take up Delta Heavy's offerings. They've delivered the perfect successor to their 'Apollo EP', yet again reasserting their title as one of the bass scene's heavyweights.

Two years after the album 'Identity' comes a single with remixes of two of the album tracks.

First remix is by John B, who transforms 'Nothing can replace' in to a progressive track with a nice buildup to a EDM-like drop that will make any crowd throw their hands in the air.

The second remix is by Blu Mar Ten. This remix of 'Too much too soon' is as beautiful as you would expect from Blu Mar Ten. The track has been put in to laid back mode without loosing the pace.

The Classic Horn Track is 20 years old and to celebrate we have some new versions to unleash upon the world DJ Marky / SPL & Mark Archer rip it up.

This E.P. was taken from a larger project titled "Ancient Pond". It was offered earlier on the same label as a limited digital download.
Later, it was split into two different E.P. records (clear blue vinyl) to be released throughout this year.

OMG Deathmachine on PRSPCTXTRM!!

Plasma Audio bring the heat with their third release and first outing for 2015. With three releases under their belt so far they have succeeded in cutting a solid path with enormous cuts from Icicle and Sabre among others. For the third release they've enlisted Fre4knc.
Plasma like to keep things on the grittier side of drum and bass and these two Fre4knc cuts do just that. The A side, Chain of Command is a rumbling roller that swoops and crunches through your ears and on the flip Sinjek feels more spacious and lean, but still delivers a hefty punch.

* Sonata Recordings embark on their new offshoot label, Sonata Limited, and first up on the controls we have new act Dynamize with their track 'Friday Night' and seasoned pro Blue Motion with 'Flying High'. The Dynamize track is remixed by Sonata's very own Vibrant Scientists and they bring their usual intelligent and laid back sounds in for a real shake up on the original track. Dynamize consist of Sean Tucker and guitarist/producer Fraser Allenby, so it made sense that Sean (Vibrant) should bring in long term production partner Melos (together they are Vibrant Scientists) for the re-rub of a track Sean & Fraser had already written. Massive 808 bassline combined with original guitar solo's, tight drums and a vibe that blasts you into space. Blue Motion's 'Flying High' is a subtle builder oozing with pure soul and emotion until it releases the clever bassline and exquisite pianos in a crescendo of pads and uplifting vibes. After the release of their 'Colours' EP in 2014, Mind Vortex have switched up a gear and are now rolling forward with even more intensity. Presenting yet another four slabs of sonic-attitude, they've solidified their mark in Ram's roster and are this time coming for the jugular. If you were looking for the same pent-up aggression as 'Hotbox' and 'Gravity', Mind Vortex are not here to disappoint.
Title-track 'Against the Grain' serves as the perfect entrée. Pulsating subs are underpinned by quickening drum patterns, which pull you against a baying tide. Snapping against booming kicks and elevating into an exploding crescendo, one which is meticulously planned. Mind Vortex have shifted the drum & bass paradigm, by merging different stylistic patterns demonstrated even within the EP's very first track.
Rolling out next with quick fire beats and the intimidating growl of Evil B is 'Bigger than that'. The MC leads you into a construction line of chaos, crafted by funk driven basslines and breaks which are bulging at their seams. Weighty, menacing and instantly grappling your attention, it's a sure-fire club anthem... One which has already ignited dancefloors.
With longing piano notes steppily taking you through its introduction, 'Curve Ball' throws you headfirst into a midst of infectious synths and fluctuating key patterns. A driving anthem, yet one which takes its time to methodically build segments, the track stays true to its name. Constantly throwing you jauntily into different directions, this is demonstrative of Mind Vortex's ability to hold you by the ears. There's no stopping this pounding riddim; it beholds a pulse to keep you dancing.
Then finally, comes 'Stand High'. Daniela's vocal delights take you through a journey between breaks, elevated with each beat pattern. Again, Mind Vortex epitomises their command over every nerve in your body. Aboard vocal crescendos, risen by elevating synths you're baited by each hook and snared almost too easily. It's the perfect accompaniment to three already hard-hitting stompers... Proving Mind Vortex's versatility, a trait which is sure to see them explode in the next twelve months.
