Lee Gamble is a UK-based artist and electronic music producer with roots in the original jungle-techno and extreme computer music fields. In 2012 he released a couple of highly acclaimed records via PAN, 'Dutch Tvashar Plumes' and 'Diversions 1994-1996', that refracted dancefloor and home-listening dimensions into trippy new head-spaces which touched a raw nerve with ravers young and old(er). He's since expanded those records into live audio-visual performance with fellow CYRK collective founder Dave Gaskarth and continues monthly broad- casts of his NTS radio show.The 'Kuang' EP heralds the release of Gamble's keenly awaited 2nd LP 'KOCH' (due September '14) with three tracks of dissociative ambient/techno. 'Kali Wave' opens with a bittersweet breakbeat roller sounding something like early AGCG playing in a hall of mirrors, whereas 'Mimas Skank' diffuses oily acid and dry dub techno inna dancefloor wormhole, and the detached ambient drift of 'Girl Drop' rends a gasp of post-rave bliss into twelve minutes of spectral sublime or precipitous dread, depending on your perspective.

One of the most intriguing artists on the Hospital Productions roster, Lussuria came to prominence with the release of three tapes as part of the 'American Babylon' series in 2012 which were eventually compiled into a double vinyl edition last year. His opiated atmospheres brought together the ritualistic appeal of late '70s and early '80s Italian industrial music crossed with the claustrophobia of early material from The Cure and the decadent, voyeuristic compulsion of Pasolini flicks so enamoured by Coil.

Fury and Hecla is a meeting of worlds. Named after a near mid-point between the residences of artists Fieldhead and Loscil, it explores both the familiar and the foreign. Although not a collaboration in the strictest sense, sounds were shared by each artist allowing for a sort of aural infusion between the compositions. The results are a series of fragments and quotes that appear and reappear - sometimes in ghostly form - throughout each artist's tracks.

Five years after founding Le Révélateur, Montreal-bred musician Roger Tellier-Craig returns to Root Strata with Extreme Events, a collection of dense sonic studies that betray a futuristic and timeless beauty. Alongside collaborator Sabrina Ratté, who creates the project's videos and live visuals, Le Révélateur operates at the ideological intersection of audio and visual, analog and digital, nostalgic and anticipatory, human and machine. Extreme Events is characterized by complex rhythmic asymmetry and twinkling aesthetic resonance - ultimately a prescient re-vision of hypothetical cyberpunk futures realized in the desert of digital decay and burgeoning artificial ecologies.

Thomas Datt is one of only a very small number of trance producers who have a genuinely distinctive and original sound. This sound has taken him to the very top of the A-list producers, making him one of the most in demand artists on the circuit. However, Thomas is a man of many production talents and this second artist album focuses entirely on his love for chillout music.

Whilst his debut album, "Picking Up The Pieces" focused on his mainstream club sound, Thomas wanted to also showcase his abilities in the arena that we have previously referred to as "Chilled Datt".

The "Chilled Datt" concept was initially borne out of the fact that Thomas started including a chilled version in most of his single releases. Interest grew and when Datt triumphantly remixed the huge trance anthem by Ben Gold and Senadee "Today" in his chilled style, the world sat up and took notice.

As a result of this, a mini album was released under the "Chilled Datt" moniker which to date remains one of the best selling albums in the labels catalogue.

"Marigold and Cable" marks an indelible new phase in the trajectory of Alex Cobb's solo recordings and prior missives as Taiga Remains. The album's four compositions are streamlined and focused, finding a balance between studied contours and compositional intuition. Tints of early Stars of the Lid and Kevin Drumm's lambent drones are apt starting points, but Cobb routes them through a live set up without the aid of loops or synthesizers.

Incredible new LP from Swedish duo Michel Isorinne (Acronym) and Varg (Northern Electronics). Moving on from Varg's recent work with Abdullah Rashim as Ulwhednar, Isorinne and Varg manage to evoke the heatwave electronics of "II" era Cluster and still throw up images of the bitter awe of a Northern winter landscape, all the while augmented by pulsating analogue percussion and dense noise. Highly recommended!

Lord Tang follows on from his 2013 LP release, in this first of a series of 3 eps for Alarm. Already, we are in very different territory! The Lord has left behind much of the whimsy and surreal samples that embodied that first record. Instead, he digs into his collection of synths and outboard effects to come up with something more melodic and heavier on the dubs, yet still very much his own sound world. It floats along in a twilight haze, unmoored from nostalgia and reflecting the moonlight of a future time! As these EPs progress, we will be drifting further and further into the waiting arms of a smiling history not yet realized

A resident at the now infamous Janus party in Berlin, M.E.S.H. follows up releases with kindred labels Dyssembler and Black Ocean with his debut PAN EP, 'Scythians'. In addition to his club experience, M.E.S.H.'s work is equally well contextualized by his community of peers - he is a frequent collaborator with contemporary artist Aleksandra Domanovic, has exchanged remixes with Arca and Fatima Al Qadiri, and is a formative figure in an ascendent community of net aware underground club artists in Berlin including Lotic, Renaissance Man and TCF

We've seen a lot of oddities reissued over the last few years, but few come close to capturing the bewildering brilliance of this bizarre instructional Birthing album recorded somewhere in Alaska in 1982 and resurfacing now on a first-ever vinyl pressing thanks to the supreme Ethnomusicological skills of Andy Votel and his Dead-Cert imprint. Utilising the ARP 2600, ARP Odyssey, Polymoog, harmonica/synthesiser interface, Eventide Omnipressor, Roland vocoder and genuinely bizarre narration imploring the listener to 'push...' over a background of retro-futuristic space-age progressions, these recordings edge the concept of extreme American outsider music to its furthest reaches. Originally broadcast as a one-off transmission for electronic harmonicist Gary Sloane's Import Hour show on Anchorage radio station KGOT FM, it's one of the rarest recordings in the very limited line of Clone breadcrumbs released to date - the audio discovered by Sloan in his own time capsule of C60 compact cassettes used to document the unlikely synthesised wing of an untravelled North American micro industry. 'Son of Octabred' is unlike any other Kosmische or early synth record you're likely to have heard, arcing from the surreal instructional opening segment to popwise synth hooks before eventually building into a monumental layer of synthesized drone you'll have trouble comprehending after the umpteenth listen. As a label set up to give life to recordings that were never really intended for wider public consumption, Dead-Cert has done a commendable job shining a light on lost DIY aesthetics - this album perhaps making for its most compulsive, odd outing yet.

'The idea for 'The Death Of Rave' was conceived in early 2006 after a visit to the Berghain Club in Berlin. At the
time Berghain was about to explode on the international club scene as a temple. The feeling was in the air that
something special was happening. I went and saw a pale shadow of the past. Grim and boring beats, endlessly
pounding to an audience who felt they were part of an experience but who lacked cohesion and energy. For
me personally something had died. Be it a spirit, be it an ideal, be it an adventure in sound. Rave and techno
felt dead to me.
The original 'The Death Of Rave' project was vast, over two-hundred flashbacks, using all of the dancefloor
hits from the time and stripping them of energy and spirit, turning them into shadows and ghosts. The
material pre-dates the recent obsession younger musicians have for re-creating remembered rave textures
and memories. This was not nostalgia, It was an inverted paean to a time when the music was about bringing
people together for a shared experience. A time when only the music and advancement of sound and getting
on one mattered.
Of course 'The Death Of Rave' was vast, too vast to digest. It was available for free download for a number
of years via the V/Vm Test label. In the end the 'The Death Of Rave' died itself when the V/Vm Test website
was deleted in full in 2008. In the intervening years I have at various times re-visited the work. And so eight
tracks were lifted from the project and have now been remastered by Matt Colton as a 'document from a dead
past'. A monument to a lost work, an idea finally set in stone via a physical format. Proof of its existence.
Ivan Seal himself a veteran of the original 'rave times' provides the glorious cover artwork in keeping with
all 'History Favours The Winners' releases. The track-listing is in reference to the strongest rave-memories I
have from those nights. The people, the DJ's, the cars, the violence and the long lost clubs. Flashbacks only, now
consigned to my own dusty experiences. ''They danced like they never had before. They danced in the darkest
hour before daybreak.' It's dead now, over. Long may it live...'
'Collective memory was the subject of the Death Of Rave project, inspired by Kirby's participation in the
Manchester club scene of the late eighties and early nineties. Recalling the surge years of rave between 1988-
96, Kirby says ''Everyone thought everything was possible on those long nights. The World was ours. Now I
think this generation is very disillusioned. They saw a glimpse of light on the dance floors, but that light has
gone out and the future seems grim and predictable.''

The main idea behind the Traces series is to excavate short, forgotten or ignored pieces of music from the GRM Archives. This third volume, gathering pieces from before 1980, features the works of four composers from very different geographical and musical backgrounds: Charles Clapaud « Ruptures » (1978), Janez Maticic « Hypnos (extrait de Trois Visions) » (1975), Servio Tulio Marin « Impresiones Fugitivas » (1976), Eugeniusz Rudnik « Moulin Diabolique » (1979).

A touch of classical music, left field electronics, ambient love affairs, and discreet dubby house emotions without a kick drum: the third instalment of Mule Musiq's famed - Enjoy the Silence' sampler serial swings gentle, tricky, and multidimensional. Already twice before the label from Tokyo delivered compilations full of music by contemporary artists that explore sounds beyond the common definition of ambient. This time the atmosphere is focusing on avant-garde textures that got a touch of very diverse genres and styles. What all tracks have in common: they spread music that allows the listener to stop time and reflect on things. As Mule Musiq always been a label that got some core artists once again Koss, Lawrence, and DJ Sprinkles aka Terre Thaemlitz are part of a dovelike sound cruise that allows you to be in many spaces and places at the same time. Beside them some new names on the label like Vermont, Recondite, Petre Inspirescu, or John Roberts deliver musical voyages that seem to be produced by unique subconscious decisions and not by assembly line craftsmanship for art.

The shadowy UK techno artist, A Sagittariun, releases his debut album this November, to coincide with the Sagittarius zodiac period.

Sound Houses' is an album that sees WALLS exploring the sonic archive of the late Daphne Oram - composer,  inventor and founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.  

Oram's otherworldly sonic experiments with synthesis and music concrete primarily in the 1960s were decades ahead of their time, her musical legacy unjustly overlooked until recent years when the increasing fascination of modern culture with all things analogue has cemented her status internationally as a pioneer and key figure in the development of electronic music and the recording studio.

Anglo / italian electronic duo WALLS were permitted to select choice recordings from Daphne's volumous tape archive of sounds following an commission from the BBC - these fearsome otherworldly drones, alien FX and violin and cello-esque tones were harnessed, shaped and sculpted into new forms, with additional augmentation of further synthesiser wash, guitar loops, found sound and treated voice by Walls to create unique new pieces of music that join the dots between 1960 and 2013. 

Indeed the duo through their reading discovered Oram's fascination with Sir Francis Bacon's noted tract from 1640 'Wee also have sound houses' which Oram had pinnned to the wall of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop wall for inspiration. In his prophetic piece, Bacon can be seen to predict some of the workings of the modern studio, through flights of fancy and the idea of transformation of sound - ideas which ring through the years still today. "We found the poem immensely alluring and inspiring" explains WALLS' Sam WIllis. "the language is so magical it really resonated with us in its primal, and imagination description of sound"

The resulting album, 'Sound Houses' is a unique splicing of WALLSs' modern/vintage sound palette with Oram's 1960s futurism to create an unprecendented sonic journey for the listener "This has been an incredible experience for us to be involved with" explain WALLS "Daphne's sounds are so special and magical - it was a real priviledge and pleasure to collaborate with the treasure chest that is her archive"

Mika Vainio was one half of the minimal electronic duo Pan Sonic. His solo works, under his own name and under aliases like Ø, are known for their analogue warmth and electronic harshness ranging from abstract drone works or minimal avant techno. Arne Deforce is renowned for his passionate and unparalleled performances of contemporary and experimental music. In Greek and Roman Mythology, Hephaestus was the god of fire; celestial blacksmith; craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes; son of Zeus and Hera; husband of Aphrodite. The album a fascinating journey through the netherworld of human extremity presented as a combination of pure acoustic and electronic sources and realised in both physical and psychological manifestations.

This release blows the trio's instrumental palette wide open for a single continuous piece.
Begun as a one-off collaboration in 2009, the trio of Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi has now become a solid working group, refining its craft through a series of annual concerts at Tokyo's legendary SuperDeluxe.  Much of their recorded work has focused on their intense, ritualistic take on the rock power trio of electric guitar, bass and drums, with last year's 'now while it's still warm let us pour in all the mystery' (BT09) containing a series of instant compositions of stunning power and concision that demonstrated how familiar and attuned to one another the three have become.

Presenting the entire first set of the trio's March 2013 concert at SuperDeluxe (the second set will follow on Black Truffle later this year), 'only   wanting to melt   beautifully away is it a lack   of contentment  that stirs affection   for those   things  said to be as of yet unseen', their fifth release,  blows the instrumental palette wide open for a single continuous piece focused on acoustic strings, synth, flute and percussion. Featuring one of Haino's most delicate and moving recorded vocal performances, the opening section of the record takes the form of a spare duet between O'Rourke's 12-string acoustic guitar and Haino's kantele (a Finnish variant of the dulcimer), behind which Ambarchi provides a hovering backdrop of wine glass tones. While on previous releases the listener has often sensed that Haino was firmly in the driver's seat, here O'Rourke takes centre stage with an acoustic guitar performance that takes the lyricism of John Abercrombie or Ralph Towner and refracts it through the free improvisation tradition of his mentors Derek Bailey and Henry Kaiser. The atmosphere of meditative, abstracted song is reminiscent of some of Haino's greatest recordings, such as the legendary 'Live In The First Year Of The Heisei' volumes recorded with Kan Mikami.
