In February 2021, Jan Jelinek's seminal album "Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records" turned 20. The anniversary repress, a double LP with two bonus tracks (B-sides from the Tendency EP, 2000), is a little late to the party.

Take Me, I’m Yours is the first collaboration album between Alan Abrahams and Jan Jelinek. Released through the latter’s faitiche, it builds upon multi-layered vocal sketches by the former. The Paris-based artist, primarily known for his work as Portable and Bodycode, supplied Jelinek with multi-layered song sketches that the German artist subjected to a rigorous process of manipulation, excavating the ambiguities of the original material and transforming its rhythms into subtle pulses. Take Me, I’m Yours is neither a typical Abrahams record nor a classic Jelinek album—it is something third, mediating between the physicality of the voice and the abstraction of electronic sound design.

The two had crossed paths before really getting to know each other after Abrahams invited Jelinek to play at one of his Süd Electronic parties. The idea of a collaboration emerged slowly. “It started as an experiment, and over the past few years grew from a few tracks into this album,” says Abrahams. He describes recording the basic material as a “tantalizing” process, not knowing how Jelinek would transform his material, some of which was based on wordless chanting, while other tracks were working with lyrical content. However, their mutual trust allowed Jelinek to remove the harmonies, radically reduce the rhythms, and concentrate on Abrahams’ voice.

Jelinek heard something “fragile” in this voice, “moments of doubt and dark premonitions.” He points to Forever as an example. “Alan’s original song reminded me of classic vocal house, but his voice seemed to almost break,” he says. “This contradiction made the piece even bigger, because we hear a singer in the moment of an awakening.” He further accentuated such tensions through arrhythmic synth modulations and time-stretching algorithms, while also adding concrete sounds from a variety of sources. With its dedication to both transforming and amplifying the emotional qualities hidden within Abrahams’ pieces, Take Me, I’m Yours functions as a dialogue between those two singular artists.

Influenced by many different styles, it's hard to describe the tracks to any specific genre. Maybe they sound familiar to some of you - we thought now it's the right time to release them on wax.

Dub Versions zum legendären "Searching For The Jan Soul Rebels" Album von Jan Delay. Hier als Ltd Colored Vinyl LP Auflage (180g, nummeriert).

Two years ago he released ‘The Peak Season EP’ under his alias Flo 87, hitting all the right buttons, and now his back with ‘The Full Moon EP’ under his own name Jan Rezelman. The EP consist of three brand new tracks, all recorded in 2024. ‘Nobody’ is basically me cutting up a beautiful soul song on my MPC, and re-play it and having fun with it. I’ve put some banging drums under it, Maspaventi did the mastering, so you know it’s ready for club use! ‘Full Moon’ is an up-tempo track where I’m filtering a guitar loop and having fun with it. Anton Pieete mixed it and Sam Irl mastered it to tape, so you already know it’ sounds super phat! ‘Soul Music’ has a more experimental vibe to it, where I was messing with my new synthesizer and came up with this infectious bass-loop and those heavy hitting 808 drums. I added some strings and drum-breaks and kept the track really minimalistic. ‘The Full Moon EP’ is pressed to a limited amount so be quick! The vinyl will be in stores around spring ‘25.

Aarset and Bang have collaborated since the early 1990s in constellations with, among others, Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft, Sly & Robbie and Jon Hassell. 'Snow Catches on her Eyelashes' (2020) was their first recording as a duo, an album that was widely praised, inspiring John Eyles of All About Jazz to write: "Aarset, Bang and company go from strength to strength, as does the Norwegian scene. Onward and upward."

'Last Two Inches of Sky' further expands this sonic universe - onward and upward. Like its predecessor, the new recording is an amalgam of styles, linked together by Jan Bang's hallmark sampling technique and Eivind Aarset's continuous exploration of the guitar. Now, the rhythm section of Audun Erlien (bass) and Anders Engen (drums) are prominent on most tracks, and the arrangements are enhanced by guests like Gianluca Petrella (trombone), Adam Rudolph (percussion), Emanuel Birkeland- Bang (drum programming) and Erik Honore (samples, lyrics on "Legion").

The roots of Studio Music lie in a special encounter between sound artist Jan D’Haene and visual artist Mark Manders. Recorded in Manders’ studio, where sounds resonated among the artworks, the music unfolded in dialogue with the imposing space. As the concluding part of a diptych, following the EP Études, this album evolves more slowly and with greater layers. It forms a dialogue with D’Haene’s introspective passages and invites a moment of pause and stillness. In doing so, the music embodies the tension between vulnerability and strength, between the individual and the universal.

Mutable Ground is an album created through an exchange of recordings between Anna and Yannis. The project is rooted in the idea of sudden shifts in current events and the ever-growing emotions tied to loss, change, and tension. Each track title is inspired by unstable phenomena and objects, reflecting the potential for unexpected movement and the transitions of both nature and humanity. Repetitive, chaotic drum patterns, vocals that echo sounds of wounded or lost animals, hollow soundscapes reveal a sonic world where creation and destruction coexist—where people dance around fires, caught between fragility and resilience.

The Danish label arbitrary presents Framework / Zwischen Remixes – a remix by German artistJan Jelinek and one by musician & label founder Mads Emil Nielsen originally made for a digital compilation, now published on 7" vinyl (arbitrary22).

For the CRXSSINGS release, Jan Jelinek remixed Nielsen’s Framework 10, a track from the Framework Book/CD (arbitrary01) based on sequences/recordings of sine waves and noise.

Live music needs to offer you something that you cannot get on a studio recording. It's the sense of freedom and intimacy, wondering how the songs will be played and what the reaction will be. Live concerts give you the tingle where the hair stands up on the back of your neck. "Live audiences give you the tension and responsibility to be creative, for me that's the challenge I like," says the iconic Dutch guitarist. After all of these years, you ponder what keeps Jan going out there, night after night. "It's my love to play for people all around the world," he smiles. The supremely gifted guitarist is equaled by very few, and his legendary ability makes him impossible to pigeonhole. His position as Dutch royalty has been cemented; he received the Golden Harp Award in early 2005, Holland's most prestigious music prize, and in 2012, he was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. This royal honour recognized his contributions to Dutch music and his influence on musicians worldwide.

Poetry and music in an annually changing Frisian-international ensemble — that’s IT DEEL, a residency project by the Kleefstra brothers. After three previous sessions and releases with Jacaszek, Eivind Lønning & Espen Reinertsen, and Karen Willems, this beautiful project finds its conclusion with a fourth collaboration.
In the summer of 2024, the Kleefstras invited cellist Joana Guerra and violinist Maria do Mar de Brito Lopes for a week-long creative residency at a special location: the Thomas Church in Katlijk.
Like with the previous releases from the IT DEEL collaborations the central theme of for this work is the relationship between humans and nature, in all its beauty and complexity. It’s not a light topic, but one that is universal and deeply connecting. Each year, it’s remarkable to witness what has emerged from the Frisian soil in the dialogue between the Kleefstras and their guest musicians.

Mit "Al Mast" legt Adir Jan sein zweites Album vor - fünf Jahre nach dem gefeierten Debüt "Leyla". Der Berliner Singer-Songwriter mit kurdischen Wurzeln bleibt seinem Stil treu: "Cosmopolitan Kurdesque" nennt er die einzigartige Mischung aus orientalischer Tradition, psychedelischem Rock, Indie-Pop und poetischer Bardenkultur. Seine Lieder - gesungen in Zaza, Kurmancî, Türkisch und weiteren Sprachen - erzählen von queerer Liebe, Schmerz, Lust und gesellschaftlicher Rebellion. "Al Mast" ist ein musikalischer Aufschrei gegen Homophobie, Rassismus und Krieg - getragen von Adir Jans klarer Stimme und begleitet von Instrumenten wie Tembûr, Violine, Kanun und E-Gitarre. Die Songs sind bittersüß, treibend und melancholisch - eine Einladung zum Träumen, Tanzen und Nachdenken. Adir Jan schafft mit "Al Mast" ein transkulturelles Klanguniversum, das Brücken schlägt zwischen Morgenland und Abendland, zwischen Tradition und Moderne, zwischen Herzen und Seelen.

Madar fängt das einzige dokumentierte Zusammenkommen dreier Meister ihrer charakteristischen Instrumente ein: Shaukat Hussain an der Tabla, Anouar Brahem an der Oud und Saxophonist Jan Garbarek.
„Es war Manfred Eicher, der vorschlug, dass wir Shaukat zu einer Session mit Anouar einladen könnten“,
erinnerte sich Jan Garbarek im Zusammenhang mit der Entstehung des Albums, während Anouar Brahem
die Spontaneität der Aufnahme in der Einstellung des Produzenten seinerzeit verbildlicht sah: „Lasst es uns
mal probieren und sehen, was passiert.“ Was passierte? Kulturelle Hintergründe verschmolzen nahtlos und
fließend miteinander – musikalisch übersetzt in eindrucksvolle, einzigartige improvisierte Klanglandschaften,
die auch heute noch frisch und von der Zeit unberührt klingen. In den Worten des Jazztimes-Magazins
aus dem Erscheinungsjahr des Albums: „Das Ergebnis ist eine wundersame, losgelöste Atmosphäre, in der
sich die unverwechselbaren ethnischen Prägungen der Musiker verweben, ohne das interkulturelle Thema
zu erzwingen oder die Eigenständigkeit der einzelnen Teile zu verwässern. Hier klingen Norwegen und der
Nahe Osten wie Nachbarn mit einem gemeinsamen Anliegen.“ Das Album, ursprünglich 1992 aufgenommen
und 1994 veröffentlicht, wurde von Manfred Eicher produziert. Es erscheint zum ersten Mal überhaupt auf
Vinyl im Rahmen der Luminessence-Serie, in einer 2-LP-Tip-on-Gatefold-Ausgabe.

The innovative French composer & visual artist Aude Van Wyller aka Oï les Ox (The Death of Rave, Primordial Void, Kraak) receives the remix treatment from the influential German musician Jan Jelinek (aka Farben, Faitiche) on a brace of singular reworks, comprising a sprawling, longform excursion and an uncanny mood piece.

Newest Album by renowned Gamelan orchestra Salukat and award winning composer Jan Kadereit. Salukat is one of the most acclaimed ensembles dedicated to contemporary ethnological music in the world. This resulting album is full of unheard harmonies and beautifully intertwined melodies. It ranges from meditative pieces rich in sounds to burstful, highly joyous and energetic pieces that bring out the skill of the virtuosic musicians. They seem to effortlessly bend the fow of time, seemingly dancing through multiple rhythms like on the title track Ashira. In the same composition, the differently tuned sets of instruments are combined to create colors that no other ensemble in the world can replicate. A documentary about Salukat and the making of Ashira will be released alongside the album, deepening the immersion into this unique project and offering fascinating insights into this world of sounds.

For this live performance, Jelinek used a sample from the song “’ * ***” by The Carpenters. Towards the end of the 1st half, the original source sample emerges from the dense arrangement of processed loops and reveals its identity, a moment that recalls awakening from deep hypnosis. The 2nd half of the performance zooms in further on the source material, leading to a complete dissolution of any referentiality.

Jan Akkerman (b. 1946) stands apart as a singular figure in the realm of rock and beyond. A Dutch guitarist of unparalleled versatility, he earned international acclaim in 1973 when he topped the prestigious Melody Maker readers’ poll, surpassing icons like Eric Clapton (2nd), Jimmy Page (5th), and Carlos Santana (10th). His fame, however, has never defined his artistry. For Akkerman, it’s always been about the music—any genre, as long as it resonates. He’s a lifelong improviser who approaches each performance as a new adventure. Akkerman first rose to prominence with Focus, a band that embodied the grandiose instrumental rock spirit of the 1970s. Long compositions, dazzling technique, and adventurous arrangements made them a cornerstone of progressive rock. Despite the accolades, Akkerman remained true to his calling. When asked about his success, he has always brushed it aside, preferring to let his guitar do the talking. Side 1 of this record captures Akkerman’s stunning performance on July 10, 2011, at the Nile Hall in Rotterdam. Here, he showcases his ability to take listeners on a sonic journey. The mellow “Tranquilizer” offers a relaxed groove, followed by the heartfelt ballad “You Do Something to Me,” unfolding emotion without words. In “Piétons”—a gospel-tinged blues—trumpeter Eric Vloeimans delivers a fiery solo before the leader propels the piece into uncharted territory. Side 2 brings us back to an earlier moment, recorded in July 2005 at the Paul Acket Paviljoen in The Hague. “Streetwalker” delivers a funk-driven explosion featuring alto saxophonist Benjamin Herman, while “The Zebrah” sends Vloeimans soaring into the musical stratosphere, only to have Akkerman reignite the piece with blistering guitar lines, his band driving forward like a well-tuned Mercedes on an open highway. Akkerman’s live performances are as unpredictable as they are electrifying. Whether sharing the stage with legends or newcomers, his spontaneous creativity makes every concert unique—a master class in musical freedom. Jan Akkerman remains a touchstone for guitarists and fans alike, an authentic improviser whose name still elicits one universal response from any seasoned Dutch rock enthusiast: “He’s the best guitarist in the world.” The North Sea Jazz Concert Series includes officially licensed releases that will be released as standard on 180-gram white vinyl in a sleeve of heavy paper and printed on reversed board. The records are captured in mainly black-and-white artwork by Hans Pol in his signature style of the festival with inspiration from the covers of classic older jazz releases from the Blue Note label, for example. The liner notes are written by journalist and jazz expert Jeroen de Valk. For all recordings it’s a first time ever release on vinyl!

LBD Issues continue with their quest of reissuing music from Eastern European region previously unavailable on Western markets. The third release is a compilation that showcases the collaboration work of duo Eva Hurychová and Jan Neckář. The two met in 1982 and Eva started performing with Jan's band Bacily. Jan was already established and hugely successful musician and producer, mainly for his brother Václav, who was a real pop superstar in former Czechoslovakia and still remains very popular to this day. Eva was a composer and lyrics writer for other successful artists too. However, the duo soon started recording stuff on their own, experimenting with electronic productions and the sound not at all common for its day in Czechoslovakia. This compilation cherry-picks the tracks from various different singles released between 1984 and 1986.

Der kanadische Starpianist Jan Lisiecki bringt die vielfältigen Klänge des fantasieartigen Instrumentalwerks
des Präludiums auf seinem neuen Album zum Strahlen und zeigt, dass es weitaus mehr ist als nur ein
Vorspiel zu etwas anderem. Frédéric Chopins außergewöhnliche 24 Préludes op. 28 sind dabei Inspiration
und Ausgangspunkt der vorliegenden Aufnahme. Chopin war laut Lisiecki ein „Meister der Kurzform,“, der
„das Präludium aus dem Schatten ins Rampenlicht“ brachte. Verbunden und kontrastiert werden Chopins
Stücke mit ausgewählten Präludien weiterer Komponisten aus über drei Epochen, die jeweils Höhepunkte
in der Geschichte des Genres markieren - von Bach, Messiaen, Rachmaninoff bis Górecki. Damit möchte
Lisiecki „die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten des bescheidenen Präludiums aufzeigen“ und nimmt „das Publikum
auf eine musikalische Entdeckungsreise“ durch den Kosmos dieser abwechslungsreichen Miniaturen.

Der kanadische Starpianist Jan Lisiecki präsentiert seinen gefeierten Zyklus der fünf Klavierkonzerte von
Ludwig van Beethoven erstmals auf Vinyl in einer hochwertigen Box mit fünf 180g LPs.
Die fünf Konzerte seien kein Zyklus im engeren Sinn, sagt Jan Lisiecki: »Beethoven hat diese Werke
sicher nicht zusammenhängend konzipiert. Dennoch gehören sie zusammen, denn sie zeigen ein unglaublich
differenziertes Bild von Beethoven, angefangen mit den beiden ersten Konzerten, die noch das Erbe Mozarts
verraten, über die so unterschiedlichen Werke Nummer drei und vier bis hin zum majestätischen Es-DurKonzert.« Den Pianisten fasziniert diese Vielfalt, »weil hier alle wichtigen, teils gegensätzlichen Facetten
Beethovens zusammenkommen«.
Lisiecki ist in diesen Einspielungen nicht nur als Solist zu erleben, sondern leitet die berühmte Academy of
St Martin in the Fields vom Klavier aus.

A long-lost vinyl album is back in stock: for the last 20 years, Kosmischer Pitch by Jan Jelinek, originally released in 2005 on ~scape, existed only as a digital download. Right on time for the 20th anniversary the remastered album is available again on vinyl. The digital version includes two previously unreleased pieces from that period.

History brackets Jan and Dean with friends the Beach Boys as
stereotypical young Californians – all-American surfers with bikiniclad girls on their arm. Yet they had a history before they fell in with
the Wilson brothers, beating Brian and company to the charts by a
matter of four years. Their success also helped Los Angeles emerge
as a musical centre of the United States. The major labels of the
time were based in New York and Chicago, and the city’s major
leisure industries were television and cinema. This album focuses
on the early years, including a couple of the rare Jan and Arnie
songs, to give the fullest possible background to a classic pop
partnership.

After exiting Buster Summers Express, Leeds-based songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Derek Noy formed Jan Dukes De Grey with woodwinds player, Michael Bairstow, soon opening for Pink Floyd and the Who, though LPs Sorcerer and acid folk masterpiece Mice And Rats In The Loft sold poorly. After line-up changes, in 1977, Noy assembled a new crew for Strange Terrain, cut at Brittania Row with Roger Waters co-producing, but the album’s curious mix of post-prog, acid rock and punk was deemed unsuitable for release until 2010! This edition comprises the complete original LP, just as delivered at its time of recording. Essential!

Recorded in Oslo in September 1970, Afric Pepperbird was released on New Year's Day in 1971. Half a century later, it still conveys the freshness and excitement of discoveries being made. The album signalled the arrival of four Norwegian improvisers - Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen - at the fledgling ECM label. It was the start of a lifelong association with each of the musicians, whose influence was soon to reach far beyond the borders of their homeland. In extended passages on Afric Pepperbird, with Christensen and Andersen stretching out, it's quite often Rypdal effectively holding the centre with taut chords. Everybody is roaring here, with Garbarek deep into his free jazz vocabulary. "Garbarek should be heard," wrote reviewer Joe Klee in DownBeat. "I would venture that not since Django Reinhardt has there been a European jazz musician so original and forward-looking as this young Norwegian."

This record contains four tracks taken from a live performance which took place on December 3rd 2021 at the vinyl harvest record store in Esch-sur-Alzette Luxembourg. I am esch twenty too was founded in 2020 as an alternative suggestion to the city of Esch-sur-Alzette being European Capital of Culture 2022 and its role and program. The budget for this concert was generated by the entrance fee to the concert only.
