SK_eleven celebrates a decade of sonic exploration with a 13-track compilation showcasing its signature tension, technical discipline, and stylistic spectrum. Reuniting a tight circle of artists whose contributions have helped shape the label, the release offers an unrelenting sequence of pressure, mental twists, and textural collisions; a multifaceted snapshot of techno's enduring capacity to evolve, disturb, and seduce.

The compilation resists uniformity. Instead, it thrives on contrast: tension versus release, density against spaciousness, rhythm in all its permutations. From high-energy metallic openers and dub-inflected body rollers, to disorienting, delay-heavy experiments and stripped-back percussive tools, each contribution reveals a unique grip on groove and detail. Some tracks move like engineered machines: sharp, robotic, and syncopated to surgical precision. Others embrace sensuality and unpredictability, exploring spatial motion, layered harmonic friction, and states of controlled chaos. Each piece acts as a structural component in a larger sonic architecture, where tension is built, collapsed, and rebuilt. Friction becomes a form of choreography. Across the record, a shifting palette of emotional mechanisms takes form; granular and magnetic, haunting and quietly forceful, restrained, then disruptive.

More than a retrospective, SK_eleven's first compilation becomes a collective gesture toward techno's unresolved possibilities: its ability to hold contradiction, remain in flux, and mutate without conclusion.

Laurel Halo returns with an album of original soundtrack music, composed for the film Midnight Zone by visual artist Julian Charrière. Following the path of a drifting Fresnel lighthouse lens as it descends through the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone — a remote abyssal plain in the Pacific Ocean, rich in rare metals and increasingly targeted for deep-sea mining — the film traces a descent into one of Earth’s last untouched ecosystems.


Charrière’s film reveals the deep not as void, but as a luminous biome teeming with fragile life: bioluminescent creatures, swirling schools of fish, and elusive predators. The suspended lens becomes an abyssal campfire, attracting species caught in the tides of uncertainty, their futures hanging in the balance.


Echoing this tension, Halo’s compositions evoke a sensory freefall, where gravity falters and light and sound flicker in uncertain rhythms. Midnight Zone is a sonic drift through the space between what we seek to extract, fail to understand, and must protect.


Halo’s score evokes the life that exists beyond our physical airbound capacity. The material features long, subtle passages of electro-acoustic ambient, drone and sound design, slowly flowing and unfolding with rich detail. The music, composed largely on a Montage 8 synthesizer and Yamaha TransAcoustic piano at the Yamaha studios in New York City, possesses an uncanny quality: that of synthetic waveforms being amplified and sung through the stringboard of the physical body of the TransAcoustic piano. Combined with stacks of violin and viol da gamba, the music on Midnight Zone possesses trace elements of a human hand in an otherwise sunken landscape. Patient, submerged, and alive. The album will be the third on Halo’s imprint, Awe.


The film is central to Charrière’s current solo exhibition Midnight Zone. The exhibition engages with underwater ecologies, exploring the complexity of water as an elemental medium affected by anthropogenic degradation. Reflecting upon its flow and materiality, profundity and politics, its mundane and sacral dimensions, the solo show acts as a kaleidoscope, inviting us to dive deep.

Als Saxofonist Joshua Redman 2023 sein Album „where are we“ veröffentlichte, ließ nicht nur er damit
aufhorchen, sondern auch die Sängerin auf allen Tracks: Gabrielle Cavassa. Das weltweite Echo war imposant, in Deutschland hieß es “Top-Sängerin“ (Stereoplay) und “bringen die Luft im Studio zum Flirren“
(Süddeutsche Zeitung). Bei der darauffolgenden Welttournee des Redman Quartet begeisterte die Sängerin
erneut das Publikum auch in Deutschland.
Mit ”Diavola“ gibt Gabrielle Cavassa jetzt ihren Einstand bei Blue Note. Dort kann sie erstmals auf
großer Bühne ihr Können als Sängerin und Songwriterin zeigen, sowie als Interpretin von Jazz-Standards
(z.B. “Prisoner of Love“) und klassischem Pop (“Could It Be Magic“) bis hin zu brasilianischen Songs (“To
Say Goodbye“ von Edu Lobo). Cavassas Stimme ist sinnlich und intensiv, obwohl sie mit den Melodien
und Tempi spielt, bleiben Seele und Aussage der Songs intakt.
“Diavola“ wurde koproduziert von Joshua Redman und Don Was und überzeugt auch durch brillante
Arrangements und exquisite Musiker: Jeff Parker an der Gitarre, Paul Cornish am Klavier, Larry Grenadier
am Bass, Brian Blade am Schlagzeug und Joshua Redman bei zwei Titeln am Tenorsaxofon.

A tribute to Bob the Landlord from Rotterdam. Bob the Landlord became known in Rotterdam after appearing in a documentary about the harbor cafe Willems Kantine. He was a loud and direct landlord who rented small rooms to people around the area. Bob was famous for his strong Rotterdam attitude and the way he spoke to people without filtering his words. One of the most famous moments was when Cowboy Jos asked him for five euros. Bob angrily replied, "Five euros? On your face!" This line later became a well-known quote in Rotterdam. It’s a properly transcendent Kalahari debut as S.A.M. makes nods to ’90s Eurodance and deeper, spiritual invocations.

At the helm of multiple labels, but this marks a Kalahari debut for the Danish artist. Sometimes anthemic, sometimes operating from a more meditative space, but always serving as an outlet for ecstatic release. Rapturous big room ascension into more contemplative territory.

Channelling some divine NRG in the vocal hooks, like much of their work, an air of blissed intent cloaks the whole thing. This is a suite of tech and deep house that strikes a balance between the introspective and direct, the metaphysical and corporeal.

Pitting sonic immersion against forward momentum has almost become a blueprint for any Kalahari release, and here, we bear witness to a prime example. Heady stuff.

SOULFUL03 brings another deep and beautifully understated chapter from Soulful Dubs straight out of Finland with a special collaboration between Tm Shuffle, Monoder, and Tapani Rinne. warm, organic, and timeless. The record carries a quiet emotional depth, balancing hypnotic groove structures with spacious textures and subtle melodic detail. There’s a strong sense of atmosphere throughout, but always with enough movement and rhythm to keep the floor engaged. The collaboration feels natural and refined: you can hear the musical sensitivity in every layer, from the gently rolling low-end to the airy, dubwise treatment and the beautifully restrained arrangement style.

Katz Mulk's ''All the mess'' is a collection of songs about playing and play-work, recorded between 2023-25 in Glasgow and Tokyo. Developed from performances across the UK and during a residency at Xevarion Institute in Hong Kong, with dancers, costume design by Mary Hurrell, and mobile speaker design by Chris Ball. Slithering breath, crackling synths, dented gongs, and dub loops pull songs into unexpected, unsettling patterns, like being a kid again but with more electronics.

mclusky sind eine Band, die eine Band war, keine Band war und nun wieder eine Band ist. Sie wurde Ende der 90er Jahre gegründet und löste sich 2005 nach drei Alben zum ersten Mal auf. Der Weg zurück zur Band begann 2014, als die Band sporadische Konzerte spielte, um Geld für einen lokalen Veranstaltungsort zu sammeln, der von der Schließung bedroht war. Nach einigen Rückschlägen, die man als die schönsten Seiten des Lebens bezeichnen kann, veröffentlichten sie 2025 ihr erstes Album seit zwanzig Jahren. sporadische Konzerte gab, um Geld für einen lokalen Veranstaltungsort zu sammeln, der von der Schließung bedroht war. Another Country is the fifth full-length album by Cindy, the San Francisco-based group built around the songwriting of Karina Gill. Recorded, like all of its predecessors, in their hometown and with a consistent line-up held over from their previous record (the Swan Lake EP from 2024), it is replete with the poetry of private vistas, eavesdropped dramas and confusing winds. These are classic Cindy concerns, and yet, as always, contain new mystery and charm to somehow feel like quiet revelations each time. Another Country is both opaque in its intentions and specific in its presentation, and as such presents the kind of truth that keeps the listener on the search for answers just out of reach.
"The title of this record, Another Country, refers to the James Baldwin novel of that name. The book has a kind of drama that makes sense to me. When I look around, the obvious explanations are not enough. The miasma of feelings and ideas that is supposed to account for it all, doesn't. Baldwin washes past that to longings that begin to explain. Cindy songs come out of the x-rays my particular brain makes out of what I see and experience. What you hear on this record is the result of collaboration with the members of Cindy that transforms that shadowy thing into full color, fully fleshed. Each of them, in music, is sure-footed and unblinking, and making this record together felt like, yes, yes, you see what I mean."

Are U Mad At Me arrives at a pivotal time in the roots music scene and the world at large. Fields, who is now rapidly becoming one of New York City’s queer country leaders — through his East Village residency at Lucinda Williams’ new honky tonk and dive bar and through his musical mentorship work through The Recording Academy — has been working tirelessly for this moment for more than a decade. Performing under this moniker since 2013, Fields has released three LPs and two EPs. He’s recorded on queer country pioneers Lavender Country’s 2022 reunion album, Blackberry Rose, and served as the band’s touring pianist. Additionally, his 2023 protest song duet with Mya Byrne, “Burn This Statehouse Down,” made it onto NPR music critic Ann Powers’ list of favorite songs of the year.

White Flowers, the long-running collaboration between Joey Cobb and Katie Drew, exists within what they call “the realm” – a shared creative space, wherein time, rather than being a restrictive force, is fluid and boundless, and music exists as an endless conversation with their past and present selves. Adopting what the band describe as a “sketchbook” approach to writing, White Flowers is the product of a decade’s worth of recordings - snippets nestled away on hard drives, only to truly make sense years later.
On Dreams For Somebody Else, the band expand upon the dark-hued dream pop of their debut, channeling the catharsis of dance music via repetitive structures and “sad, euphoric sounds”. Working alongside LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip’s Al Doyle on production, the album maps out a mosaic of soaring choruses that swirl around imposing arrays of synths, guitars, and percussion.
Through this new lens, the band explore themes of isolation, dissociation and identity - drawing inspiration from Annie Ernaux’s The Years. “Whilst recording the songs for ‘Dreams For Somebody Else’, we really connected with the concept of Annie Ernaux’s book, ‘The Years’ - a ‘collective autobiography’ pieced together from mismatched fragments from her past, conjuring the effect that she’s merely an observer of her own life. This concept merges into the White Flowers world, where time, rather than being restrictive, is fluid and boundless, with our music existing as an endless conversation with versions of ourselves at different stages of our lives.”
“The album has that same feeling of disassociating from your own life, because you’re just blending into everyone else”, the band explains. “There’s a sadness there, because it’s as if you’re looking back on things that happened to you, and they feel like they don’t belong to you anymore”. By turns haunting, enchanting, and inspiring, you won’t want to come up for air once you’ve been pulled under. Representing a
musical practice that is distinctly feminist, this is an album with a longer view in mind, to an age when the altars were to goddesses and women were centered as powerful beings representing the earth’s cycles of regeneration and renewal. Oceanine then, in all its beauty, can be viewed as an album of survival. It is deeply transportive, accessing something that lies within all of us. As the late, great Lithuanian folklorist and archaeologist Marija Gimbutas noted, “We must refocus our collective memory. The necessity for this has never been greater as we discover that the path of 'progress' is extinguishing the very conditions for life on earth.”

Jolanda Moletta is a multimedia artist and one-woman electronic choir. She creates wordless compositions through extended vocal techniques, integrating wearable-controlled live processing, alongside symbolic visuals. Moletta considers her performances to be a collective ritual and creates her Sonic & Visual Spells following the cycles of nature and the moon. Jolanda's 2022 critically acclaimed album Nine Spells was released on the Ambientologist label, followed by Night Caves on Whitelabrecs in 2025. Moletta’s artistic practice is a radical and spiritual journey through sound art, ritual, and the symbolic archaeology of the feminine.

Oceanine is inspired by sirens, water nymphs, and the timeless call of the sea. At its core lies Jolanda’s deep, lifelong connection to the Mediterranean Sea and to the ancient and modern myths and folklore that have emerged from its waters. Growing up by the Mar Ligure, Jolanda was surrounded by stories carried by salt, wind, and waves: legends of sirens, echoes of ancient voices, and the sea as both origin and oracle. This intimate relationship with the Mediterranean is not merely a backdrop, but a living source that shapes Oceanine’s emotional, symbolic, and sonic world.

Each track features a different female vocalist, creating a rich tapestry of voices, styles, and perspectives. This artistic choice not only broadens the album’s sonic palette, but also deepens its narrative core: celebrating the power, beauty, and mystique of feminine energy through myth, history, and sound.

The entire album is built exclusively from the human voice, processed and layered, yet always remaining voice, and nothing else. For each piece, Jolanda invited every vocalist involved to contribute a raw stem: a short, unedited melodic fragment of just a few seconds, inspired by the album’s themes. These intimate vocal seeds became the foundation of each track: the guest artists’ voices appear as brief, melodic stems, while the entire surrounding “orchestral” fabric is created solely from Jolanda’s own layered and processed voice. In this way, Jolanda’s voice becomes the Ocean itself, embracing, absorbing, and carrying the sirens’ calls within a vast, immersive soundscape. Every song is a unique expression of the feminine experience, revealing its depth, complexity, and emotional range, echoing the call of the sea and the many faces of the siren archetype.

The figure of the siren has transformed across centuries. In myths of Ancient Greece and Rome, sirens were hybrid beings, part woman, part bird, whose irresistible songs lured sailors to their doom. During the Middle Ages, the image shifted toward the half-woman, half-fish figure, often associated with temptation and danger. Historically, the voice of women has often been feared. Sirens were considered harbingers of misfortune not simply because they seduced or destroyed, but because they were powerful liminal beings.

In Ancient Greek, sirens functioned as psychopomps: figures who existed between worlds and guided souls, especially between life and death. Their songs were believed to carry forbidden knowledge, including prophetic insight and the ability to reveal truths about fate and the future. The danger of the sirens lay in what they revealed: knowledge that humans were not meant, or ready, to hear.

Oceanine confronts this legacy head-on. The voices heard throughout the album are not merely beautiful: they are dark and luminous, wild and enchanting, magical, soothing, dreamy, and at times fractured or distorted. They whisper, lament, beckon, and enchant. Like sirens, they skim the surface of the water and sink into its depths, hovering on the edge between tenderness and danger, vulnerability and power. They rise toward the sky, dissolve into mist, and return as echoes charged with raw, elemental emotion: voices that seduce, warn, mourn, and remember. They refuse to be reduced to decoration.

Alongside the album’s release in May, Oceanine will also unfold as a visual and performative work through a short art film. The film includes a live session recorded inside a sea cave facing the Mar Ligure, the very coastline where Jolanda spent her childhood, dreaming of sirens and listening to the sea as if it were speaking directly to her. This site-specific performance reconnects the music to its place of origin, allowing the voice to resonate within stone, water, and air, and transforming the cave into both a sanctuary and a threshold between myth and reality.

What if the sirens’ songs were considered dangerous because they carried another truth, an ancient truth long forgotten?

Oceanine embraces the idea that we are still deeply woven into myth. Though we may see ourselves as rational and modern beings, our world is saturated with ancient symbols and archetypes, often distorted, simplified, or stripped of their original meaning. And if those symbols are allowed to shift, if the mirror once held by the siren becomes an invitation to look beyond appearances and into what has been obscured, then we may finally uncover a deeper truth and reclaim the voice that was always ours.

Doch auch außerhalb von Streaming, Fernsehen und Werbung hat der Neoklassik-Star Peter Sandberg seine musikalischen Spuren hinterlassen und eine große Fangemeinde gefunden: Mit mehr als 500 Millionen Streams gehört der Pianist, Komponist und Elektrotüftler aus Uppsala zu den erfolgreichsten Musikern seines Genres. In seiner Heimatstadt entstand auch seines neues, als Debüt bei Warner erschienenes Konzeptalbum The Temporary Coexistence of Humans, eine Auseinandersetzung mit den verschiedenen Wirkungsweisen menschlicher Begegnung, ihrer Flüchtigkeit und Zufälligkeit, aber auch mit den mal beglückenden, mal verunsichernden emotionalen Folgen, die sie in uns auslösen kann.

Entstanden als Idee zwischen einem Schlagzeuger und einem Produzenten, lädt MINCKA heute Produzentinnen, Musikerinnen und Kreative gleichermaßen dazu ein, dem Projekt immer neue Formen zu geben - als etwas, das sich stetig weiterentwickelt.Alles beginnt als Skizze: ein Fragment oder eine Kadenz, die scheinbar ins Leere führt - bis das Live-Schlagzeug übernimmt und der Groove die Richtung vorgibt. Mal festgezurrt in unerbittlichen Beats, mal verträumt und schwer greifbar. Wie der Soundtrack zu einem Fiebertraum, mit Echos von Mo' Wax ebenso wie von International Anthem.Von dort aus öffnet sich ein Raum, in dem Musiker frei auf das reagieren, was bereits existiert. Klänge werden zerschnitten und neu zusammengesetzt, wie Filmszenen, die ihre Bedeutung erst im Schnitt erhalten. Eine passende Analogie für den Hintergrund des bosnisch-niederländischen Schlagzeugers Sergej Kreso, der zugleich ein vielfach ausgezeichneter Dokumentarfilmer ist. Gemeinsam mit dem niederländischen Produzenten Subp Yao initiierte er MINCKA. Doch eines wird durch diesen Ansatz schnell klar: MINCKA ist kein Duo.Statt einer einzelnen Vision wurden unterschiedliche Musikerinnen und Kollaborateurinnen (aus Seattle, Peking, Maastricht, Essex, Amsterdam, Heerlen und Uden) eingeladen, mit der Musik in einen Dialog zu treten. Ihre Antworten und klanglichen Abzweigungen prägten den Sound von Beginn an. Kollaboration ist das Wesen von MINCKA. Und ebenso der Kontrast: Mensch und Maschine. Organisch und elektronisch. Freie Improvisation und meticulousche Präzision. Wertschätzung für Low-End-Theorien.Es ist ein Sound im permanenten Wandel, der sich weigert, in eine Schublade gesteckt zu werden. Stattdessen tritt er die Schublade ein, zerreißt die Überreste und baut aus dem, was bleibt, eine vollkommen neue Collage.Selbst jetzt, da die Musik veröffentlicht wird, ist MINCKA nicht abgeschlossen. Auf insgesamt 100 Stück limitiert. Rhythmus ist die erste Sprache. Ein Puls, der irgendwo beginnt - in einer Maschine, in Händen, als Gedanke. MINCKA existiert in dem kreativen Prozess, der sich daraus entwickelt: ein Dialog zwischen Struktur und Chaos. Entstanden als Idee zwischen einem Schlagzeuger und einem Produzenten, lädt MINCKA heute Produzentinnen, Musikerinnen und Kreative gleichermaßen dazu ein, dem Projekt immer neue Formen zu geben - als etwas, das sich stetig weiterentwickelt.Alles beginnt als Skizze: ein Fragment oder eine Kadenz, die scheinbar ins Leere führt - bis das Live-Schlagzeug übernimmt und der Groove die Richtung vorgibt. Mal festgezurrt in unerbittlichen Beats, mal verträumt und schwer greifbar. Wie der Soundtrack zu einem Fiebertraum, mit Echos von Mo' Wax ebenso wie von International Anthem.Von dort aus öffnet sich ein Raum, in dem Musiker frei auf das reagieren, was bereits existiert. Klänge werden zerschnitten und neu zusammengesetzt, wie Filmszenen, die ihre Bedeutung erst im Schnitt erhalten. Eine passende Analogie für den Hintergrund des bosnisch-niederländischen Schlagzeugers Sergej Kreso, der zugleich ein vielfach ausgezeichneter Dokumentarfilmer ist. Gemeinsam mit dem niederländischen Produzenten Subp Yao initiierte er MINCKA. Doch eines wird durch diesen Ansatz schnell klar: MINCKA ist kein Duo.Statt einer einzelnen Vision wurden unterschiedliche Musikerinnen und Kollaborateurinnen (aus Seattle, Peking, Maastricht, Essex, Amsterdam, Heerlen und Uden) eingeladen, mit der Musik in einen Dialog zu treten. Ihre Antworten und klanglichen Abzweigungen prägten den Sound von Beginn an. Kollaboration ist das Wesen von MINCKA. Und ebenso der Kontrast: Mensch und Maschine. Organisch und elektronisch. Freie Improvisation und meticulousche Präzision. Wertschätzung für Low-End-Theorien.Es ist ein Sound im permanenten Wandel, der sich weigert, in eine Schublade gesteckt zu werden. Stattdessen tritt er die Schublade ein, zerreißt die Überreste und baut aus dem, was bleibt, eine vollkommen neue Collage.Selbst jetzt, da die Musik veröffentlicht wird, ist MINCKA nicht abgeschlossen. AMBOSS ist die neue Band von TOXPACK & BIERPATRIOTEN-Sänger Schulle zusammen mit weiteren Freunden plus Gästen, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten im deutschen Punk- und Oi-Sektor viele heiße Eisen im Feuer hatten. Jetzt haben sie zusammen gleich 20 alte Eisen neu geschmiedet. Ihr Debut-Album erscheint als Doppel-Album mit Liedern ihrer Jugend von Bands aus dem Osten und Westen Deutschlands, sowie als besonderen Bonus ein Cover eines US-Hardcore Klassikers. Die Herangehensweise für "Altes Eisen neu geschmiedet" war dabei von vornherein klar: diese alten, großartigen Klassiker benötigen keine aufpolierte Hochglanz-"Oi!"-Produktion! Roh, ehrlich und brutal war das Motto und das Ergebnis spricht letztendlich für sich. Nicht nur wer noch aus alten Tagen die liebevoll selbst zusammengestellten Tape-Compilations kennt, wird diese prägende Zeit gern erinnern und das Album dafür lieben! Seit Sommer 2025 haben AMBOSS zwanzig Songs ausgewählt, was schon eine Aufgabe für sich war, gefühlt hätten es hundert werden können, die nicht nur die Band prägten sondern auch "Punk-Historie" geschrieben haben: Klassiker, vergessene Schätze und oftmals auch Raritäten von Bands wie u.a. Toxoplasma, Broilers, Daily Terror, Verlorene Jungs, Troopers, Springtoifel, Zusammrottung und Lokalmatadore sowie Madball. Fast zwei Jahrzehnte nach der Veröffentlichung des Originalalbums, das mit einem Grammy ausgezeichnet
wurde, lebt die Legende des Buena Vista Social Club mit „Lost and Found“ weiter, einer Sammlung bisher
unveröffentlichter Titel. Einige entstanden bei den legendären ersten Sessions in Havanna mit Produzent
Ry Cooder, andere während der darauffolgenden, außergewöhnlich produktiven Phase.
Das Originalalbum des Buena Vista Social Club wurde 1996 von Ry Cooder und Nick Gold innerhalb von
sieben Tagen in Havanna für World Circuit Records aufgenommen. Es vereinte viele der großen Namen des
goldenen Zeitalters der kubanischen Musik der 1950er-Jahre, von denen einige für die Sessions aus dem
Ruhestand zurückgeholt wurden.
Das Album wurde überraschend zum internationalen Bestseller und zum erfolgreichsten Album in der
Geschichte der kubanischen Musik. Damals ahnte niemand, dass die Platte erst der Anfang eines musikalischen Phänomens sein würde. In den folgenden Jahren tourten die Buena-Vista-Veteranen vor begeistertem
Publikum um die Welt und waren Gegenstand eines gefeierten Spielfilms von Wim Wenders.
Es folgten weitere gefeierte Aufnahmen, darunter Soloalben der Sänger Ibrahim Ferrer und Omara Portuondo, des virtuosen Pianisten Rubén González und des Bassisten Cachaíto López sowie ein mitreißendes
Live-Album, aufgenommen bei einem triumphalen Konzert in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall.
Der Buena Vista Social Club war zu einem bekannten Namen geworden. „Über die Jahre wurden wir oft
gefragt, welches unveröffentlichte Material noch in den Archiven schlummert“, sagt Nick Gold von World
Circuit. „Wir kannten einige Schätze, Favoriten der Musiker, aber wir waren immer zu sehr mit dem
nächsten Projekt beschäftigt, um nachzusehen, was wir sonst noch hatten. Als wir endlich die Zeit dazu
fanden, waren wir erstaunt, wie viel wunderbare Musik es gab.“
Alle Studioaufnahmen für World Circuit entstanden im Egrem-Studio in Havanna während der produktiven
und kreativen Phase nach der Aufnahme des Originalalbums, die bis in die frühen 2000er-Jahre andauerte.
Angereichert mit Live-Aufnahmen aus derselben produktiven Phase, bietet das Material auf „Lost and
Found“ eine enorme und mitunter überraschende Vielfalt. Doch es gibt einen roten Faden, der von einem
Kernteam legendärer Musiker getragen wird, die einen Korpsgeist zum Ausdruck bringen, den jeder, der
jemals vom Buena Vista Social Club verzaubert war, wiedererkennen und genießen wird.

Nach einem turbulenten Jahrzehnt, in dem er häufiger im Gefängnis als auf der Bühne oder in einem
Aufnahmestudio anzutreffen war, begann Tenorsaxofonist Dexter Gordon mit einem neuen Vertrag bei
Blue Note Records eine erstaunliche Karriere-Renaissance. Mit den im Mai 1961 im Abstand von nur drei
Tagen in Rudy Van Gelders Tonstudio in Englewood Cliffs aufgenommenen Alben “Doin’ Allright” und
“Dexter Calling” untermauerte er seine Rückkehr zu alter Form mit Bravour. Hervorragend unterstützt von
einem fein besetzten Quartett, wechselte der spielfreudige Saxofonist auf “Dexter Calling” mühelos von
energiegeladenem Swing zu atemberaubenden Balladen.

Zum ersten Mal auf Kassette! Mit nur sechs Singleveröffentlichungen zwischen 1965 und 1966 und von einem musikalisch abgelegenen Ort wie Lima erschufen LOS SAICOS einen rohe, wilden Sound, der Einiges mit dem gemeinsam hatte, was zur gleichen Zeit auf der Nordhalbkugel ,Garage Rock" getauft wurde. LOS SAICOS teilten sich Gene mit THE SONICS, ROCKET FROM THE TOMBRS, THE CRAMPS und BLACK LIPS. Diese Veröffentlichung versammelt sämtliche ihrer Aufnahmen und erzählt die grandiose Geschichte von LOS SAICOS. Die Archäologie des Rock'n'Roll hat viel gemeinsam mit anderen Formen des Grabens. Wichtige Fundstücke erfordern eine Neueinschätzung der alten Gewissheiten. Ich hatte niemals zuvor von LOS SAICOS gehört, hatte jedoch die WAU Y LOS ARRGHS!!! Version von ,Demolicion" genossen. Während mir die Wildheit des Tracks gefiel, dachte ich nicht eine Sekunde daran, dass das Original noch verstörter sein könnte. Was noch viel wichtiger is: dieser fauchende Strudel Nihilismus wurde in Lima aufgenommen, während der Rest der Welt die BEATLES abfeierte. Chemie ist ein Faktor, der wichtiger als theoretische Kenntnisse oder Können. Es gibt einen Punkt, an dem die Natur die Führung übernimmt - das Individuum muss gehorchen. Wer hätte gedacht, dass es da draußen in Peru eine Combo geben würde, die THE SONICS nach den verdammten SIMON & GARFUNKEL klingen lässt? Best ever Saicotherapie!
