Kevin Arnemann and Daan Kemp's Taped Artifact record label is prepping its first release of 2017. Following the label's recently released various artists compilation, the Amsterdam based imprint welcomes two pioneers within the Icelandic techno scene: Ohm & Octal Industries. Ohm earned his stripes through his collaborations with Exos in the early 00's, whilst Octal Industries is a much-respected artist within the IDM scene under his Ruxpin alias. With the highly dub-influenced 'Maoss EP', the Icelandic duo follows up their recent appearance on Thor's renowned Thule Records. The four-tracker features highly textured, rhythmical and classic rooted dub techno, showcasing the iconic Icelandic aesthetic.

Born on Chicago's southside 1970, Robert has an expansive Musical career that started at the age of 14 with Djing and remixing from the age of 18. In his cellar Robert started organising parties that became very popular in his neigbourhood. Some of the diehard visitors of Robert besement parties were inspired by him and became also DJs, amongst them was DJ Rush others became Rapstars like R Kelly. Robert was going to become a police officer up untill he spun abroad in Italy and realized his true passion. It was actually in Italy where his female fans named him Armani because of his designer clothes he loved to wear. Robert's Influences include Armando, Mike Dunn and Frankie Knuckles. He sees his music sticking with old styles and doing whatever comes to mind'. Producing with labels including Dance Mania, Pushpac, AVC, BML, High Octane and many more Armani has captured the ears of fans and promotors all over the world . He has played many international parties givig people his hard Techno fell. You name the place Armani has played there from Chicago to Japan.

As we gradually build toward the release of Rebekah's debut album on Soma, the hard hitting DJ/producer drops her 3rd single in the shape of the Code Black EP. Rebekah is on somewhat of a frenzied run of form at the moment with not only an exhaustive touring schedule but a slew of releases that stand as a testament to her dedication to Techno.

Title track Code Black hits the ground running with ice cold percussion and thunderous kicks running the show before a more jacking vibe is introduced backed by some seriously perilous pads. Disaster looms even more as Relapse Paradigm tears in next with clunking beats and straight percussive workouts as screeching synths and hooks give an overall foreboding atmosphere. X Confessions closes out the EP in no less vicious terms and Rebekah sets out on the warpath utilising pulsing rhythms and calamity inducing sequences to really rip into the dance floor.

Bucharest's Romansoff brings post-industrial heat on Sportiv002. With previous releases on Creme Organisation, Mörk and his own Raw Tools, Tudor cranks it to 11 and does crunchy, saturated beats under a killer analog riff on Colonial Past. Bodylock on the flip is equally intense but chooses a more stone-cold approach. Gripping, energetic material from a country at peak creativity. Sportiv is a dexterous white label operation that brings you heavy-weight rhythmic performances from the world of techno athletics.

Versatility has got to be Iron Curtis' second name. There are only few other producers on the electronic scene who are able to display such a variety of musical facets as this talented man from Berlin. With his 'Maple EP' he underlines his reputation of an artist with many faces as his new release is quite a box of surprises: rarley have we heard Iron Curtis in such a dubby mood.

Beginning with the straight and bass centered title track 'Maple' Iron Curtis moves on to the almost beatless and moody 'Collision' and the chord driven Dub House of 'Entago Entery' and finishes the EP with the delicate, Ambient encore 'Reset Me' on B2. With its impressive display of variety this record is a celebration of reduced, understated Dub Techno performed with a distinct musical flair and a clear artistic vision which perfectly fits label owner Baaz' direction of his Office imprint so far. What's surprising is how effortless and 'natural' Iron Curtis' appearance on his long-time friend's record label feels. In such good shape his 'Maple EP' is a definitve tip for the lovers of sophisticated and detailed Dub Techno full of suspense.

First off on A1, a 14 minute journey takes us to the far depths of electronic music. Made in 2016, this beast of a track has all the true, vital ingredients of atmosphere: rolling and thundering beats and perfected synth work - one for the specialists!

Turning the 12" around, we find two pumpers from the archives. Dusted off in perfect harmony with the current musical state of affairs: Mono Junk, in collaboration with Pete Salone, showcases a true spirit and heartfelt blizzard of a tune, where 'Disillusions' resembles the forgotten experimental touches of Techno's early days.

'Melody Boy's Melody' goes into a sing-a-long (in the right way) appeal, with enchanting rhythms and a perfected melody, this is a heady piece with IDM resemblances

Parasole's music fits the bill for cutting-edge electronic music. Infrared Vision is a display of his love for polyrhythmic drum patterns, post-club sketches, twisted dance floor gems and classy, big room-ready tunes.

Few words of the artist:

''When I started to conceptualize my album I had a few end goals'', explains Parasole. ''I wanted to string my own style through Infrared Vision, so it would be familiar to the people who like my music. In tandem, I strived to produce a fresh voice sonically and experimented with a few new production techniques. I also grabbed ideas outside of techno and house, because I didn't want to be influenced by anything new. I was listening to a lot of jazz, hip-hop, Nine Inch Nails and Prince for example.''

Parasole took his time to write, produce and record Infrared Vision, dividing the process into three steps. ''First I wrote the album in words, pinning down ideas and track concepts on a notepad. Subsequently I transferred my ideas to my gear. Due to a heavy tour schedule I sometimes brought gear with me on the road, to continue my sketch process on the hardware. I then recorded it at home and at Phil Moffa's studio in New York. When the music was fully finished the album morphed to its final version. Phil Moffa laid down the final mixdown at Butcha Sound Studios, while Marco Spaventi handled the mastering.''

We don't have much info to give about Vicram, partly because the artist doesn't want us to communicate the few things we know. But this is his first EP. It's super raw - not necessarily rough. Raw like a piece of sushi, an unpolished unvarnished beautiful piece of wood, raw like those bare drum machines and simple acid lines. Almost naive, like those early 90s IDM-techno record we cherish but with a very different angle. As usual, we liked Vicram because we don't really understand how he makes his music.

After debuting on Mr. G's Phoenix G imprint in 2016 with the Unfamiliar Territory EP, Jayson Wynters makes an appearance on DBA for this, his second release, backed by a Kowton remix.

Jayson Wynters is a DJ that is able to combine many genres in one set and make it work. Wynters was first known as a garage MC in Birmingham, before rising to prominence in the city's underground radio and club scene, where he showcased an impressive knowledge of rare groove and house music. As he got older his taste for music began to mature, his collection began to grow, and he soon began to DJ. Using music as an outlet for expression, whether in the form of DJing or having fun on some drum machines and synths, is one of the most defining features to Wynters. He continues to fuel his passion by keeping an eye on the future rather than the past and striving to remain different.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Fit of Body (aka Ryan Parks) is part of a new generation of ATL producers; underground artists who draw on the space and grit of Southern hip hop and team it with curveball electronica discovered on late night, weed-fuelled web trawls.Having honed his sound on a string of feted self-released cassettes released on his own Harsh Riddims label - which has also put out everything from bizarro hip hop to gleaming synth pop - and dropped a hyped 12' released on the CGI imprint, the Healthcare EP finds Fit of Body delivering his most accomplished work to date. Five woozy original tracks jammed out on second hand drum machines, bass guitar, cheap mics and creaking synths, this is techno as it was first imagined; raw machine soul made for strange times and unknown futures.
Finding a commonality between Arthur Russell's vocal delivery, Jermaine Dupri's club shaking bass, and the militant drum attacks of Underground Resistance, the EP ghosts past rigid categories, instead taking a journey through heat and haze. On the A side, Parks switches between the languid analogue house of 56k, the melancholic Drexciyan electro of Ridin 2 That Trap or Die, and the lo-fi post punk grooves of 770-997-2341. On the flip he offers the late night 808 soul of Antonio Girl, followed by the uptempo techno ballad All This Time (Since), a song sad and euphoric in equal measure. On 12', the EP is closed with a remix from fellow ATL producer Divine Interface who stretches 56k into a glistening shard of time-stretched trip hop.

Toby Tobias can be found in the shadows of South London. This is his first offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, 'Gravitator' evolves slowly over ten minutes from a somber intro of supernatural sighs, pulsing machine feedback and techno squelches into an ethereal landscape peppered with dissonant fragments of synth. With side B's 'Right Turn To Nowhere', Toby stretches out even further, flexing a tasteful programming of the 808 while taking the long road to a reverb-drenched crescendo of distortions and expansive string swells. After a prolific output of material for other quality labels around the world, Toby Tobias has undoubtedly re-focused his point-of-view upon his induction to the ESP Institute. These two songs will have you locking up your children at night.

''Metamorfosi LP'' is Bichord's first full length offering for the Planet Rhythm imprint after their Quadrivium EP (2016) was met with critically acclaim by techno aficionado's and lovers of adventurous soundscapes alike.

The new LP is a split two with the A-side showcasing the more Techno oriented works and the B-side showing the duo's set of ambiences and lush tone. This lenghty effort is the duo's first full artist album out of many to come.

SILVER is a sophisticated blend of Electro Funk, Break beat and Techno. The song is inspired by his obsession for silver rings and more precisely for their sound, spiritual and magnetic energy. Who else than the Californian legend Egyptian Lover can provide here some hypnotic vocals Indeed the 808's king takes his inspiration from all the symbolic of rings and gems and brings to the song his very unique and charismatic touch.
MAXILLAIRE is going slower but is definitely powerful. It sounds like a 97 BPM Techno music made for a space travel soundtrack with a codeine cup.

Taking charge of the first release is Lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. Whether he is acting in the role of producer, DJ, performer, or Stroboscopic Artefacts' curator, Lucy's clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters new reasons to continue tuning in. EP opener 'The Hermit' is eight minutes of spacious and cerebral techno. Rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks of sound design peel off the groove. Occasional bell hits bring a sombre and languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole. On the flip, 'The High Priestess' is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. The drums here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling. After this fine EP starts the label in style, a remix EP from Blawan will follow.

A regular contributor to Figure SPC, it was Jeroen Search who both started the series and also put an end to its story. With this creative chapter neatly closed, he is now bringing his ever-impressive work back to the main label. Across the EP the Dutch artist doesn't stick to one style, instead he lets his infamous machines roam about freely. They take us for a smooth ride along swaying dub chords and gentle ripples until bellowing eches slowly rise above a hypnotic groove.On the B-side Search then pulls out all the stops and barges right in with fidgety claps and whirling bleeps, leaving the track itself gasping for air. This is the renowned ferocity of his live act - carved into wax! Ensuing the sonic assault, a simple synth figure emerges stoically over an almost housy bounce as nostalgic rave strings bring the EP to an epic ending. Firmly rooted in the past while always looking forward, Jeroen Search clearly is still on the top of his game. He simply keeps coming up with timeless techno - time and time again.

Some tunes will always instill hope that's it's possible to dance forever and never go home. 05 Paradise Hippies - Prosecco Mate The last hippies of Hamburg bring proof that two rad dudes together make an extremely rad pair.

For 20 years, the Geophone label has been Mike Parker's most personal musical project. This time, Parker offers a solo 10" EP with two tracks of immersive and hypnotic techno. "Night Calling" is the stomping A side with sizzling acid patterns and a booming kick drum. The B side, "2_gated EXP" explores the darker regions of techno with an odd time signature that cycles over the beat with precision, already a favorite in Cio D'or's recent dj sets. As always, the hand printed jacket features Parker's bold and dynamic artwork (limited edition).

Making his Tortured debut is Liverpool based Techno DJ and producer, Binny with his 'Devil's Orchestra EP'.

Binny's journey as a solo artist started with a release on Orbis Records in 2012. Since then he's gone on to release a further three EPs for Orbis as well as additional releases for Monnom Black, Symbolism, CLFT, Suburban Avenue, Forte Techno, Scenery, Demarcation and Flatlife Deep plus remixes for Endlec and Fundamental Interaction. Drawn to the music of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Surgeon, Regis, Steve Rachmad and many others, his DJ sets and production sound is tough, hypnotic, old school and most of all, uncompromising. As a founding member of the Phantom Planet Outlaws with John Heckle and Mark Forshaw, they have produced EPs on Tabernacle and Apartment Records as well as starting the Boss Tracks label exclusively dedicated to releasing Phantom Planet Outlaws material.

Taking another solo turn, this time for Billy Nasty's Tortured label, Binny delivers a refined EP from the striking and demonic strings of the aptly titled opener, 'Devil's Orchestra' via the multihued tough groove of 'Alternative Methods', before the Tech-funk of 'Roll With It' and on to the Sci-Fi tones of 'Untitled' which closes the vinyl 12"

One the most distinctive artists in techno, Mike Parker, combines his signature, modulated bassline and sharp claps with the off-kilter rhythm of 'Inertia 1'. Tensal's remake of 'Inertia 2' is direct, peak-time gear. The synth line is kept front and centre, the beat is heavy and expertly arranged. Pangaea, of Hessle Audio, switches up the broken rhythm of 'Inertia 3' and adds the kind of unusual touches that make his records stand out.

Maurizio Martinucci (aka TeZ) is being warmly welcomed back into the Frigio fold. Following his work with Most Significant Beat, a partnership with Saverio Evangelista of Esplendor Geometrico, this Italian artist, and member of Clock DVA since 2010, is flying solo on new wings: Pragma.Martinucci examines, scrutinises and magnifies mechanics. And under such inspection all things change. Drums blossom into serrating melodies. Snares, hi hats, toms blur into one as they are distilled into a heady brew. At times this reduction is sour and sharp, as in the cruel cud of 'Ospel', at others its strangely smooth like in 'Dusk.' The lines that divide electronics and techno all but disappear, dissolved into insignificance under Pragma ´s barren palette. 'Espex' is stripped. Percussion is dipped in distortion, bass bleached by hiss as the reductionist manifesto is applied. An artist cut from the same caustic clothe closes.Arturo Lanz of Esplendor Geometrico amplifies the fuzz and static of 'Espex', shaving away all decoration to leave all but a harrowing husk of cables, wires and pain.

Highly effective, pure groove & rhythm centred DJ tool Techno set

* Perc & Truss rework two key cuts, taken from Mumdance & Logos' debut album 'Proto' and deliver us a pair of hard-as-nails techno bangers.

* 'Move Your Body' is mutated from the hardcore-referencing original into a searing industrial belter. Perc & Truss' version makes use of distorted 808 drums and rising machine noise to ramp up the tension before eventually dropping out to the 'move your body' vocal sample and unleashing a terrorising acid line. Dancefloor killer.

* Flip for 'Hall Of Mirrors' which sees the pair re-route Mumdance & Logos' original into a 4/4 roller, peppered with metallic percussive hits and and a robotic bass riff. Hard, uncompromising techno built just the way it should be.

Cosmic Club 17's in the house, and for this one Skylax have delved deep into the mystic universe of the ultra prolific photonz with a four track EP quite simply out of this dimension ! Photonz is the artist name of Marco Rodrigues, a London-based DJ and producer who's been championing the new sound of Portuguese house and techno worldwide since the early 2000s. He has done tracks for various labels such as crème organization, unknown to the unknown, hot haus, the "cult" dissident and many more. His first cut "memories of burma" that gave the title to the ep is an infinite groove that builds and builds with arabic synths, a perfect crossover between balearic & old school jackin house. "Baronrevxp" & "agape" moves into the same territories with some sharp clap, hi hats and some big retro vintage sounds. While "stealth predator" catches him at his most experimental, upping the tempo and unleashing an ambitious techno juke roller, think about drexcya, 1990s techno, Plink Plonk and you're not even close ! Photonz music sounds extremely big for the big rooms, and still very large indeed for the smaller ones.His music is praised by The Chemical Brothers, Jackmaster, Optimo, Ivan Smagghe, Daniel Avery, James Holden, Ewan Pearson, Auntie Flo, Tim Sweeney, just to name a few. 'Memories of Burma' EP is not just a cosmic experience, but a voyage into the realms of a producer in a world of his own. Must have. Essential item. SKYLAX RECORDS 4 EVER !

Sofia's quirky techno underground is densifying. Evolving around the Diviat Slon parties (residents: StefaK & Stefan Goldmann), the Beton nights, the indoors offspins of Artmospheric festival and unannounced appearances of KiNK under his Cyrillic guise, raw and rave-infused techno is increasingly defining the city's sound of the small hours. Roboknob are part of this movement, and this is their debut EP. A live hardware duo, Yasen and Stanislav drop rugged, noisy machine jams around the Bulgarian capital and have been regulars at Artmospheric. The EP's tracks have been distilled from their live repertoire and mixed by Stefan Goldmann into sharply defined form with added bite. 'Dexydi' is Greek for acid - the corrosive liquid, not the music. Accordingly, its heavy-handed single-note bass attack will cut through anything. 'Spellbind' is more bouncy with frantic upward movements, distorted percussive fallout and a seasick bass foundation. 'Liulka' handles two layers of time rubbing off of each other: quirky and pushing high in the sky, against the bass drum mechanics down low. A suitable acoustic symbol for Sofia's state of techno.

Fresh off of a pair of well-received EPs on his recently-launched Manhigh imprint, Berlin's highly respected techno auteur Henning Baer makes his first appearance on Nonplus with 4 excellently crafted, saturated machine techno tracks on The Idea of Instinct. Following on feelings suggested in the title, the EP opens with a pair of more contemplative pieces: the title track's spare arrangement puts mechanical rhythmic drive behind its exploration of dusky electronic atmospheres, while the feeling of 'DNA' is both brighter and slightly pacier, its hypnosis deriving from the pads and synthesizer sequences that circle the drums. 'CCC II' takes a darker approach to a similar idea, this time with the suggestion of polyrhythms in the distant and heavily-treated percussive elements circling in the background behind uneasy ambience. It builds to the closer 'Spiritual Quest', where overlaid rhythms in 3 and 4 are not easily reducible and create the tension at the track's centre driving it to its conclusion.

After Leibniz focused on distorted grime and jungle influenced techno on his last records, he is now diving into deeper fields with his first EP for hundert. Over the time Leibniz has obsessively collected youtube videos that serve him as an audio sample library. Be it a review of a lawnmower or people singing to their pets, every track features bits and pieces of sound taken from these videos. By editing and cutting the original material the sounds get implemented into a new musical context.Pushing digital algorithms of music software to its limits and over the edge, Leibniz invokes digital artefacts that continue the motif of distortion.House and references to contemporary hip hop beats form the skeleton for four hazy out-of-the-ordinary cuts.

While unveiling the 'Mutant Tournament' Quartet last year, label boss Nachtbraker was quietly hunting for new music behind the scenes. Being the fine huntsman he is, he came out of the woods with sonic bits and bobs so delectable he had no choice but to spread them out over two brand new quartets. That's right, eight records in total, to be released over the course of the next 18 months. We're delighted to introduce you to Scott Franka, who's at the helm of the first missive. This creative head from Amsterdam has been making music since the tender age of 11, but it wasn't until he adopted his Scott Franka moniker that he really found his groove. His music encompasses influences from dub and dark techno to classic drumpcomputer and synth-heavy house. Franka's style takes cues from Detroit, Chicago and the UK, and yet is also very personal and forward thinking at the same time. 'The Gym' might be his solo debut, but a smattering of releases from the man is on the horizon. The best way to introduce you to Scott Franka's musicality is 'The Gym' on A1. Starting of with sweet, melancholic chords and 808 hats Scott turns your world upside down after the first break. Try to keep your head steady, and get that dirty look of your face.. doesn't work right It's just too good. 'Toenail' is up next, and its undeniable groove and incredible amalgamation of synths and strings make for an absolute early hours melter. Flip over for 'Sorry' to hear Franka knock it out of the ballpark with its heavy breakbeat and UK-style bass. Finally, there's 'Street', a mesmerising groover, rounding things off nicely. The release doesn't only mark its first artist EP, it also marks a new look for the label. Mechanisms Industries owner Fanon Flowers extends the PRRUKBLK catalog with a slice of wax in his signature style. Vivid synth work with repetitive sequences that linger through the listeners mind long after the initial listen. ''Strong Interaction EP'' is combined of 4 dancefloor cuts on the moody side of things. Beautiful patches and lucid hats come together in a wash of dancefloor oriented techno.

Fifth Interval gather together some of the most forward thinking minds in the dub techno sphere for this various artists EP. Those already acquainted with the label will be familiar with the likes of Federsen and Tomas Rubeck, who headed up the first and second releases respectively. They are joined by dub techno luminary Brendon Moller, aka Beat Pharmacy and Alessandro Crimi, for this four tracker of perfectly contrasting arrangements.
Federsen opens the proceedings with the sunset sequence of Bay Blues, cascading keys rolling through the gaps in a subtly broken drum arrangement, making for effortless and captivating listening. Beat Pharmacy contributes his first original material to the label after a brace of remixes last year. Showing true mastery of the board, chromed chord stabs are pushed and pulled around the mix in true dubwise style, drifting over a malleable bassline that packs a serious punch.
On the flip side, Tomas Rubeck crafts a tightly woven backdrop of constantly evolving, organic atmospherics and powerful drum work for IO, and this muscular workout is perfectly contrasted by the swung grooves and kaleidoscopic synthesis of Alessandro Crimi's Fractal Clouds, which closes the EP.
