Gary Bartz und das neue Londoner Ensemble Your Brother’s Keeper präsentieren mit "Where Rivers Meet" ein tiefgründiges und intuitives Studioalbum, das die seltene Begegnung zweier Generationen von Jazzmusikern einfängt. Das Album, das pünktlich zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum von Brownswood erscheint, vereint Bartz' Tradition mit der jungen, pulsierenden Szene Londons. Im Zentrum des Projekts steht Bartz, eine der einflussreichsten Vertreter des modernen Jazz. Der Saxophonist, dessen Karriere sich über mehr als fünf Jahrzehnte erstreckt, machte sich einen Namen durch Auftritte mit Charles Mingus, Max Roach und Art Blakey, bevor er sich Miles Davis in dessen elektrisierender Phase der frühen 1970er-Jahre anschloss. Mit seinen gefeierten Aufnahmen mit der NTU Troop wurde er schnell zu einer prägenden Figur des Spiritual Jazz und schuf ein Werk, das Generationen von Musikern und Zuhörern gleichermaßen begeistert. Sein Spiel – lyrisch, tiefgründig und unverkennbar gefühlvoll – zählt nach wie vor zu den markantesten Stimmen des Jazz.

Das Album markiert zudem die Gründung von Your Brother’s Keeper, einem neuen Kollektiv um Schlagzeuger und Produzent Jake Long (Maisha), dessen musikalischer Dialog und die Improvisation tief in der Musik verwurzelt sind. Mit Ali MacSween (Piano, Synthesizer, modulare Effekte), Axel Kaner-Lidstrom (Trompete), Twm Dylan (Kontrabass), Tim Doyle (Percussion) und Chelsea Carmichael (Tenorsaxophon) sowie Long am Schlagzeug spiegelt die Gruppe eine Szene wider, die den Sound des zeitgenössischen Jazz im letzten Jahrzehnt maßgeblich geprägt hat.

Franco Rossi makes his Sine Space 7 debut with Vaalbara, a five-track vinyl EP (including one vinyl-exclusive cut) that lands the Argentine producer firmly in the label's hypnotic and driving orbit. Following recent releases on Soma Records, MindTrip, and Secession, Rossi arrives with a record that feels both unmistakably his and right at home in the Sine Space 7 catalogue. His productions have already found support from the likes of DVS1, Richie Hawtin, and Setaoc Mass.

Opener Rodinia sets out raw and patient, with two rising builds carried by strange synthetic patterns over a darkening drone. Title track Vaalbara drifts on a modulating high synth line, locked into a hypnotic lower-frequency pattern that pulls the two registers into quiet synergy. Paramo keeps the floating quality but leans darker, with raw drums anchored by finely distorted rides and a backbone of dense texture. A Quemarropa pushes further into ear-candy territory. Distorted rides again, punctuated by one strange, track-cracking sound that refuses to let the listener settle.

The vinyl-exclusive closer Mar Adentro is the weight-bearer, a rolling low-end drive punctuated by a sub-heavy synthetic hit you feel in the chest.

Vor zehn Jahren gründeten drei Mitarbeiter von JI's Market and Cafe die Band Styrofoam Winos. Lou Turner, Trevor Nikrant und Joe Kenkel fanden zueinander durch ihre gemeinsame Begeisterung für Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen und Country-Platten aus dem Schnäppchenkorb. Sie beflügelten sich gegenseitig in ihrer Begeisterung und waren total aus dem Häuschen bei jedem neuen Song, den sie entdeckten. Nachdem ein Freund weggezogen war und ein Schlagzeug zurückgelassen hatte, lernten alle drei Winos, Schlagzeug zu spielen. Die ersten Versuche im gemeinsamen Songwriting entstanden aus Jam-Sessions und Erasure Poetry, bei der man Wörter in alten Büchern schwärzte, um neue Gedichte zu schaffen. Sie sangen alle mal die Leadstimme und tauschten regelmäßig die Instrumente. Michael Hurley zum ersten Mal zu sehen, hinterließ einen bleibenden Eindruck und gab der Band einen ihrer kreativen Leitsterne. Jahre später gab Snock den Winos selbst seinen Segen, ihre Kassette mit Coverversionen seiner Songs zu veröffentlichen. Die Styrofoam Winos sind immer mit dem Strom geschwommen, was ,Any River" zu einem passenden Titel für ihr neues Album macht, dem Nachfolger von ,Real Time" aus dem Jahr 2024. Ihre spielerische Herangehensweise wird durch das Können erfahrener Musiker untermauert, die bereits viele hundert Konzerte gespielt haben - sowohl gemeinsam als auch als Tourmitglieder von Ryan Davis and the Roadhouse Band, MJ Lenderman and the Wind und als Solokünstler. Das ist eine ihrer größten Stärken, die man gar nicht hoch genug einschätzen kann: Sie sind extrem gute Musiker! Wenn drei talentierte Menschen eine so tiefe Chemie entwickeln, ist das Ergebnis einfach grandios. Jeder Song auf ,Any River" entstand aus Jam-Sessions in Turners und Nikrants Heimstudio, und schon bald folgte ein gemeinsames Google-Dokument mit den Texten. Sie nahmen in Louisville auf - ihr erstes Album außerhalb von Nashville - zusammen mit Roadhouse-Bandkollege und Equipment Pointed Ankh-Mastermind Jim Marlowe. Marlowes zurückhaltende Produktion brachte die einzigartige Synergie der Band voll zur Geltung. Das führt zu einem weiteren wesentlichen Punkt dieser Band. Es gelingt ihnen, eine perfekte Balance zwischen Ehrfurcht und Respektlosigkeit gegenüber den musikalischen Traditionen zu finden, in denen sie arbeiten. Ihr Wissen über den Kanon ist gelehrt, aber diesem Wissen folgt immer ein Augenzwinkern. Kein Moment auf der Platte verkörpert dies besser als das Trompetensolo in ,New Friend". Es ist eine geschickte Darbietung, aber die Art und Weise, wie Kenkel unter die Tonika absinkt, bevor er die letzten Noten des Solos auflöst, ist urkomisch. Bei Live-Auftritten spielt er das Solo Note für Note auf einer Kazoo, während er gleichzeitig Schlagzeug spielt. Diese Musik stammt von erfahrenen Verwandlungskünstlern, die sich einer einfachen Kategorisierung entziehen und dennoch sofort wiedererkennbar bleiben.

Ashtar Afterhours is Kenneth Graham - originally from Los Angeles, he has been a defining presence in electronic music ever since the 90s. Buying his first classic synthesizer, a Yamaha CS01, in 1984, he delved into music production at an early stage. Kenneth put out over 40 releases over the years- under his own name as well as stepping up under various aliases- Estelle Montenegro, KG Beat, Exit Strategy and many others. Kenneth also formed some super-groups together with friends, his Sun Children / Sunkiss project- together with David Alvarado- put out highly influential music on legendary Peacefrog Records.

Body Music was originally released on Plastic City in 2001 and it has been a Smallville favourite since a long time, so we are super happy to present this beauty as a repress, as always with a full cover artwork by Stefan Marx.

We feel like Frank & Tony and Smallville have been on the same musical wave-length since forever. Our musical paths have crossed back and forth over the years and we have always shared a lot of the same values- steadily putting out quality music, that stands the test of time - growing consistently - never stop following our very own way - always not-following trends forever..
Frank & Tony is the collaborative guise of Scissor & Thread co-founders Francis Harris and Anthony Collins aka Grant. Both have long been staples of the underground with material under their own names and numerous other guises shaping the musical landscape of House Techno and beyond since the turn of the millennium. Both lived together in New York and as Frank & Tony the pair have delivered multiple albums and many EP’s on their own label, Tokyo’s Mule Musiq and Pacific Rhythm- now they are warmly welcomed onto the Smallville Records roster with their latest collection of works.
‘Ways Of Mine’ leads on the A-Side and showcases the pairs signature deep hypnotic house style via soft billowing pads cascading metallic chimes psychedelic spoken word and dreamy dubbed out keys floating atop a robust bouncy rhythm
section.To open the flip-side title-track ‘After All’ lays down a subtly blooming chord sequence shuffled drums and bumpy bass stabs at its core all subtly nuanced while the latter half introduces more dynamic rhythmic elements and intertwined melodic touches. ‘Dimension’ then concludes the release diving deeper with saturated ethereal pads and bubbling resonant arpeggio lines alongside heavily swung crisp drums jazzy keys and delayed vocal chants.

Vincenzo De Bull follows up his initial 4 Kicks EP with a truly fitting set of 4 smooth grooves on Kicks 4 Life EP.

Kicking off the A Side is the energetic bass workout of The Jaunt. Driving mix of filtered loops and persistent bass carry this along with accented punctuation courtesy of trippy oscillating vocals, pianos before it’s all brought home post-break with a lovely pad driving more tension to add to the effortless progression. B2, Make It Smooth will contain some recognizable elements for most of the selectors out there, before the cut develops into a new context which will immediately remove your previous associations and make way for a fun, new groove – we don’t have to tell you, but Vincenzo does a superb job of ‘Making it smooth.’

Flip to the B Side for smooth R&B style house vibes courtesy of Move Your Body, an ethereal workout grounded by a solid low and a tugging looped groove, interspersed with enough energy via vocals to keep the floor engaged and moving, but at a lower energy level. Perfect to move into later nights. Tatsuro Lovers rounds out the EP with a midtempo chugger perfect for starting the evening, groovy pool parties or just sitting at home, enveloped in the heady, swirling vibes underpinned by crisp drums and deep low end.

Departure Lounge welcomes Andy Ash to the lineup with his four-track EP, "When The Sunlight Comes." Warm and deep - Andy traverses the euphoric realm, as well as acid influences on the a-side, before a slung out b-side cements a satisfying reflection of his range. Over a year in the making, this is a truly special release, and a testament to Andy's craft. As a final touch, Flabaire closes out the record with a tasteful remix of "Sunrise Acid."

As one of the foundational artists of Flipsight, it is only fitting that ColorJaxx gives the first major 2 x 12" gatefold statement on the label. The debut album 'In Between' of the Belgian producer gives a full overview of his trademark deep grooves with a re-invention of his club sound.

The first record is your invitation to the beach. The A-side kicks off with the ambient "Playamer", setting a scene of salt air and warm breeze. The shoreline waves combine with an electric piano groove to "Out The Door". This is where a slick trumpet gets the parole and cuts through the atmosphere, signalling to the dancefloor. "Never Enough" serves as a spiritual successor of his first EP on the label "Tales of never": shimmering guitar samples, a warm, everlasting groove, and that unmistakable "ColorJaxx" swing that we fell in love with initially.

The B-side is where Jordy catches the first hints of Spring with "Just Around" by blending uplifting trumpets and sax melodies with a fresh forward-moving baseline. "Higher" elevates the mood further with smooth rhodes keys and a jazzy piano lead. As the evening chill sets in, the first disc concludes with the literal end of the day: "The Beach Is Closed".

Time to grab the second wax out of your gatefold: leave the sand behind for the strobe light as this is where the maestro gets in club mode. "Back Then" serves as the bridge into "Discotheques," a heavy-hitting wink to the old-school Belgian club scene that shaped the underground of the early 2000's. This vibe created "Moving On," a sophisticated French-like house tune with Chris Farmer where the vocalist enters into a constant conversation with rhythmic elements, creating a versatile track that fits in any part of a DJ set.

The finale is reserved for heavy hitters: "This This" and "Disco Trouble" are pure, pumpy club rollers. Peak-time bangers designed for maximum impact, before the album dissolves into the hazy, cinematic outro of "Blurred Lines."

Paling Trax returns with their 6th Split EP coming from labelhead TAFKAMP and the Irish multi-talent Dylan Fogarty. On the A-side we find the long anticipated release of TAFKAMP’s Friestalig, combined with some filterhouse galore on Trakpad #4! On the B-side Dylan delivers the big room banger ADE Special, and the super groover Morning Ritual to finish off the release. Highly essential!

Planar Traits adds to the Spectral Bounce catalog with SPEC08: Distance EP. Since 2021 the Stockholm-based artist’s creations have combined evocative soundscapes with dancefloor functionality. Here he steps up with four hydrographic cuts spanning the groove-led, the mysterious and the cerebral.

Beginning the expedition with the type of psychedelic and lithe tech-house for which Spectral Bounce is known, the A-side is glistening with aquatic shimmer. “Variations in Hue” and “Distance” are club cuts embellished with mystical melodies and sonar pulses, both propelled by chunky drums and driving sub frequencies.

The B-side goes deeper, revealing a more contemplative zone in which soft echoes of Detroit (“Bloom”) are spliced with 1990s Artificial Intelligence sensibilities (“Never-ending Light”). A perfect soundtrack for living room transcendence, as much as pelagic immersion.

Erased Tapes are proud to re-issue The Red Book by Penguin Cafe, with an expanded vinyl track list which now includes the CD and digital-only “And Yet…” plus two tracks from the limited-edition Umbrella EP. This new edition will be available on limited translucent vinyl and CD, both with updated art from Studio Torsten Posselt utilising the original drawing from renowned British sculptor and Simon Jeffes’ partner Emily Young.

Penguin Cafe was founded by Arthur Jeffes in 2009, bringing together a talented and disparate group of musicians initially to perform his father Simon Jeffes’ legacy of world-renowned Penguin Cafe Orchestra music, ten years after his untimely death in 1997. Following the release of A Matter of Life shortly after founding, The Red Book was released in 2014 to critical and fan acclaim.

“The name The Red Book comes from the book by Karl Jung of the same name. The book is about, among other things, the way our subconscious interacts with and intrudes into our daily lives. I thought this fitted what we were trying to achieve with the second album quite neatly — namely, exploring musical worlds that are at once both familiar and strange. There is another meaning which is that the main mastered disc you end up with, the one from which all other copies will be made, is called the Red Book Master — so somewhere at some point there will be a disc on which will be written “The Red Book — Red Book Master.”

The tracks on the album all fall on some point along a scale going from gently Apollonian at the one end to perhaps a bit more Dionysian at the other. For our purposes this would be the ‘spacey’ end — with tunes like 1420 and Aurora, and the ‘imaginary folk’ end — with tracks like Odeon, Radio Bemba and Black Hibiscus. The tracks between these extremes are, perhaps with Silent Sun in particular, an attempt to blend these two parts.”

Underground legend Orlando Voorn joins Craigie Knowes for his label debut EP ‘Navigate’. Quintessential Orlando Voorn house journeys on the A-side accompanied by 2 slappin’ house trax on the B-Side. A rounded EP of tracks for DJs in need of something to get the party started or to trip the dancefloor out when space for breathing is required.

John Ringhofer, der Mann hinter Half-Canded Cloud, ist ebenso fröhlich und genügsam wie seine Musik. Als sparsamer Mensch zieht Ringhofer die U-Bahn dem Taxi vor, recycelt Plastik, macht sich zwanghaft Notizen und ist ein geborener Optimist. Half-Canded Cloud begann 1999 als Heimstudio-Projekt in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ringhofer lebte später über ein Jahrzehnt lang in der kalifornischen Bay Area (wo er als Teilzeit-Hausmeister arbeitete), bevor er 2015 mit seiner jungen Familie nach Helsinki, Finnland, zog, um die linguistische Forschung seiner Frau zu unterstützen. TAURO ist das Gemeinschaftsprojekt unter der Leitung der in Toronto ansässigen Künstlerin Cynthia Tauro, das in enger kreativer Zusammenarbeit mit Brendan Canning von Broken Social Scene entstanden ist. Was als informelle Songwriting-Sessions im Wohnzimmer begann, entwickelte sich organisch zu einem fokussierten Werk, das auf Vertrauen, einer gemeinsamen musikalischen Sprache und dem bewussten Verzicht auf das Überdenken der ,nächsten Schritte" basiert. Das Projekt ist bewusst schlank gehalten, wobei Entscheidungen im Raum bleiben und die Musik den Prozess leitet. Act One verbindet emotional direkte Pop-Songwriting-Elemente mit jazzbeeinflussten Harmonien, synthgetriebenen Texturen und zurückhaltenden rhythmischen Experimenten. Beeinflusst von Künstlern wie Air, Sade, Carole King und Tracey Thorn, schaffen die Songs ein Gleichgewicht zwischen Intimität und Vorwärtsbewegung, geprägt von jüngsten persönlichen Umbrüchen und dem gemeinsamen Interesse, der natürlichen Richtung jedes Songs zu folgen, anstatt einen vorbestimmten Sound zu erzwingen. Die Produktion ist songorientiert und explorativ, sodass Textur und Arrangement intuitiv entstehen können. Mit Beiträgen von bewährten Mitwirkenden wie Thom D'Arcy, Kintaro Akiyama, Moose (Spencer Muscio) und Josh Trager verfügt das Album über eine starke kreative Herkunft, während es sich weiterhin auf Cynthias Stimme und Perspektive konzentriert. Quinoa’s 8th reference goes off the beaten track, literally. Carola (f.k.a. Mägitee), comes at us with four stripped-back cuts that invite us into unexplored emotional realms. Consistent, throbbing, and rich in texture, it contains just enough of everything and not too much of anything.

The story starts on the A side with “Siouxsie”’s melee of drums and swells that instantly transport us to the smokey comfort of a dance floor, lost in the ecstasy of intertwining bodies.

It follows with “0863”, with a name that winks at his roots hailing from the Appenine mountain chain in central Italy. Its warm, intimate touch sets a suspended tone to the release.

On the flip side the energy shifts, with escapism-anthem “Getaway” whose strings and dreary vocals invoke a nostalgia of futures-to-be in places that may never exist.

Finally, the EP closes off with the title track “The Observatory”. Named after the Griffith Park Observatory, a place where he regularly used to wander at night in the company of deer, coyotes, and the Los Angeles lights. Its deep bassline and intense echoes aim to captivate the most avid stargazers.

Im gesamten Album werden einfache Wahrheiten durch die Feder von Schwester Dot, der Songwriterin der Band, offenbart. Das Album erfüllte Austins Erwartungen an den Rockstar-Ruhm nicht, doch die Gruppe blieb bis zum Tod ihres Vaters zusammen und trat regelmäßig im Rathaus von Fremont und in einem örtlichen Pflegeheim auf; weitere Alben wurden jedoch nicht veröffentlicht. Das hätte das Ende sein können, bis die Rockband NRBQ eine Kopie bei einem Radiosender in Massachusetts entdeckte und sie 1980 neu veröffentlichte. Der damalige Rezensent des Rolling Stone beschrieb es als ,die atemberaubend schrecklichste wunderbare Platte, die ich seit Ewigkeiten gehört habe". Fast 50 Jahre später zählt das Album zu den polarisierendsten LPs aller Zeiten. Manche sagten, es sei das Schlimmste, was je produziert wurde. Andere empfanden es als eines der großartigsten Langspielalben des 20. Jahrhunderts. Frank Zappa bezeichnete die Band bekanntlich als ,besser als die Beatles", während Kurt Cobain das Album auf Platz 5 seiner Liste der 50 Lieblingsalben setzte. Originalausgaben des Albums erzielen Preise von 10.000 Dollar. Jahrzehnte später könnte man argumentieren, dass Austin vielleicht die ganze Zeit recht hatte. Wir sind alle hier und immer noch fasziniert von der Reinheit der Shaggs.

Was für eine schöne und unerwartete Überraschung: 25 Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung von "Die Summe der einzelnen Teile" von Kante liefert Acid Pauli einen grandiosen Remix ab. Seine Uptempo-Techno-Version verleiht dem Klassiker der Hamburger Schule neuen Schwung - einem deutschen Song, der über die Wunder des Musikmachens sinniert: "In manchen Momenten, für eine Weile, entsteht mehr als die Summe seiner Teile". Acid Pauli spielte den unveröffentlichten Track erstmals in seinen Live-Sets und seinem Pingipung-Podcast (#175), und als er Kante fragte, was sie von der dopamingeladenen Interpretation ihres Pop-Hits aus dem Jahr 2000 in seinem DJ-Mix hielten, gab es rundum Daumen hoch und strahlende Gesichter. Als sich herausstellte, dass Acid Pauli noch einen weiteren Kante-Edit in petto hatte, nahm diese 7"-Single schnell Gestalt an. Auf der B-Seite verbindet er seine Kick-Drums mit dem langsamen, sehnsuchtsvollen "California" aus Kantes Debütalbum "Zwischen den Orten" von 1997. Hier ist sie also: Pingipung präsentiert stolz "Kante on Acid" - zwei Knaller für die Festivalsaison, die uns zurück zu den Wurzeln der Hamburger Popmusik führen, gebrochen durch Acid Paulis charakteristisch energiegeladenen, psychedelischen Groove. Kante: Eine einzigartige Band, die die Hamburger Schule mit Jazz-, Post-Rock- und Indie-Elementen verbindet und für ihre ausdrucksstarken, melancholischen Texte bekannt ist. Mit Alben wie "Zwischen den Orten", "Zweilicht", "Zombi" und "Die Tiere sind unruhig" wurden sie um die Jahrtausendwende zu einer der markantesten Stimmen der deutschsprachigen Popmusik. Acid Pauli: Acid Pauli (alias Martin Gretschmann) steht für einen eklektischen Ansatz in der elektronischen Kultur und beschäftigt sich seit über zwei Jahrzehnten mit psychedelischer, experimentierfreudiger Musik abseits der Mainstream-Pfade. Er ist in Techno-Clubs in New York oder auf Ibiza ebenso zu Hause wie bei der Produktion von Hörspielen und dem Schreiben von Filmmusik.

Best known as one half of KIASMOS alongside Ólafur Arnalds, the Faroe Islands born, Reykjavik based producer Janus Rasmussen has consistently refined an elegant sound that marries sonic precision with emotional depth. Over the past decade, he has built a wide-ranging body of work through collaborations across multiple genres as a producer, songwriter, musician, and mix engineer.

As a solo artist, Janus has crafted compositions that balance immersive sound design, subtle melodic shifts and rhythmic drive, drawing on his diverse musical appreciation and studio experimentation. These experiences have shaped a creative identity that now comes into sharp focus on his most ambitious solo project to date - Inert.

The album marks a bold step forward, thematically exploring the act of breaking free from inertia through embracing creative freedom. With his new work, Janus incorporates his own vocals more than ever, weaving them seamlessly around intricate electronics as he expands his sound into new territory, while retaining the subtle restraint that has defined his output. The Godfather of Hardcore, Marc Acardipane, needs no introduction. His outstanding releases over the past 30 years speak for themselves. He has been instrumental in helping to create electronic music history, with countless well-known productions which have been unsurpassed by any other artist of this calibre. His timeless masterpieces have been and always will be heard at hardcore raves spanning the circumference of the Planet. With "9 Is A Classic", "Slaves To The Rave", "Pitch-Hiker", "Stereo Murder" and "We Have Arrived", just to name a few, he clearly proves who's the boss. "The Most Famous Unknown" is a well compiled collection of Marc's music, which showcases a mere portion of what he has composed and produced since the early nineties! The vinyl and digital selection of "The Most Famous Unknown" features remixes by Body Sushi a.k.a. VTSS & Randomer, Dasha Rush, Gabber Eleganza feat. Delirio, Jasss, Kilbourne, Minimum Syndicat, Nina Kraviz, Perc, Solid Blake, Stranger, Umwelt and VTSS, which all deliver excellent interpretations of tracks they have chosen to revamp. All original tracks have been re-mastered to the highest possible standard of quality.

Vier Jahre nach ihrem gefeierten Debüt ,International Love Affair" kehrt Tigerbalm (Rose Robinson) mit dem aufregend kaleidoskopischen Album ,Bubblegum Discos" zu Ubiquity Records zurück. Als mutige Weiterentwicklung ihres global geprägten Nu-Disco-Sounds spiegelt das Album ein neu gewonnenes Selbstbewusstsein wider sowie den Wunsch, mit handverlesenen Musikern und Sängern aus aller Welt zusammenzuarbeiten. In lebhaften Klangfarben gehalten, präsentiert ,Bubblegum Discos" Tigerbalms zwei große musikalische Leidenschaften: die brasilianische Musikkultur und Vintage-Dancefloor-Hits vom afrikanischen Kontinent, angereichert mit Anspielungen auf Italo-Disco, Proto-House und Soca. Die erste Hälfte des Albums ist stark von südamerikanischen Einflüssen geprägt. ,Nayar", entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit Giorgio Lopez aus Neapel, macht den Anfang mit leicht vom Reggaeton inspiriertem Nu-Disco, gefolgt vom brasilianischen Disco-Rausch von ,Diga Me" und dem luftigen Samba-Disco von ,Vera En Paraty". Earth hat die moderne Musik maßgeblich geprägt - von Experimental Metal über Electronic/Ambient bis hin zu Stoner Rock - und Künstler von SUNN O))) über The Bug bis hin zu Godflesh beeinflusst. Die Geschichte von Earth wurde in der gefeierten Dokumentation "Even Hell Has Its Heroes" aus dem Jahr 2023 festgehalten. ‘Perfect We Are Not’ the latest track from Soulwax, emerges directly from the band’s recent Abbey Road After Hours project - a unique collaboration with the iconic London studio that saw Soulwax take over the building for a series of recording sessions and a landmark live event.

Working across Abbey Road’s historic spaces - from Studio Three, to Studio Two, to Studio One - the band used all three rooms as a continuous creative environment, moving fluidly between them in pursuit of new material. It was within these sessions that ‘Perfect We Are Not’ was written and recorded with their full live band (including three drummers).

The track was cut using the studio’s vast array of analogue equipment before being pressed direct to vinyl and played as the opening moment of their 2manydjs set inside Studio One

Now released as a standalone single, ‘Perfect We Are Not’ carries that immediacy forward — a driving, full-bodied track that reflects the band’s instinctive, performance-led approach in the studio, and will also be released as a limited edition 12” via DEEWEE.

Inspired by the Lunar New Year, "Ancient China" is a timeless auditory journey blending traditional Chinese musical elements with contemporary lofi beats. Across 24 tracks, live instruments like the pipa and xiao intertwine with modern production to create a soundscape designed specifically for focus and reflection. Presented as a limited "Jade Mist" double vinyl edition housed in a panoramic gatefold jacket, this compilation serves as the perfect peaceful companion to welcome the Year of the Horse.

Berlin lo-fi crooner Der Assistent returns with "Ultramarin", a sun-faded suite of soft-focus pop, Balearic grooves and late-night yacht moods drifting between languages, moods and references – slightly surreal, and quietly melancholic.
Following the tropical haze of its predecessor "Amnesie am Amazonas", his third album makes a slightly bigger splash: classic late-80s digital pianos, downbeat grooves and flashes of dub-reggae intertwine with subtle soprano and alto saxophone lines that drift between lounge melancholy and nocturnal jazz.
Laid-back opening cut “Wenn der Scirocco weht” pays homage to Japanese lovers rock, while the dubby downbeat title track celebrates the color blue in French, English, Italian and German, echoing situationist slogans and painter Yves Klein’s idea of “the invisible becoming visible.” Lead single “Mann am Telefon” dives into hazy yacht-pop and lo-fi soul, gradually unfolding into an instrumental outro that recalls the early synth romanticism of Vangelis.
Across the album, Der Assistent traces a playful tale of split personalities – with subtle nods to Fight Club and Blade Runner – culminating in the lush closing 80s R&B ballad “Total Confusion”.

Written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by Der Assistent, Ultramarin also inaugurates his new imprint of the same name.

Yes here we are 50 years on from year zero 1976 (where did that go!!!). To celebrate this and the fact we are all still here and talking about the importance of the Punk Rock movement i put together an album under the banner Punk Rock Daze. The title reflects it was all such a daze, as it ran by so fast and also as a reminder of an old Malcolm McLaren remark that came to mind. That when the band and management were discussing the look and name of the Sex Pistols forthcoming album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’. Malcolm remarked, lets sell it as you would sell washing powder, bright, simple and with fluorescence colours. Great idea so here is my homage to that thought.

So I hope you enjoy the gesture and here’s to another 50 years of Alchemy, Joyousness and
instruction (Anarchy, Chaos and Destruction).

On every song in the band’s history, Neurosis shifts restlessly between tension and relief, invoking a feeling both feral and transcendent in listeners. The band describe their songwriting process as an inescapable impulse to create with each other - a need rather than a choice. Indeed, the band insist that their return is “not a reunion - we never broke up.”

The album was recorded by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Sumac, and Great Falls) at Studio Litho in Seattle during three weekends this winter, and mixed in three days just six weeks before release at Evan's Antisleep Audio in Oakland.

Neurosis will play their first show in seven years on the traditional lands of the Blackfeet Nation in Montana as part of Fire in the Mountains festival by special invitation of Firekeeper Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to reducing youth suicide in Indian Country.
