Initially recorded in 2013 and issued on cassette by Sun Ark in 2014 (as Cloaks), this first offering uses conceptual processes to weave many of the same threads as their later work; synthetic FM tones, tuned mallet percussion, and electronically modulated voice, all arranged in a gossamer web, spun with neon electronics. On this release the duo set off on the sonic journey they are still on today, refracting their influences through East West feedback loops, augmenting traditions with technology. & Co. started out as a small group of friends who surfed and skateboarded together. As they hung out in Venice and shared their interests and ideas about music, sounds started to take shape. What started off with no intentions of being anything serious began to develop, inspiring music composer Alberto Bof, music advisor Paul T. and music coordinator Alex Olson to think about avenues of release.

Inspired by a Seigen Ono record put out for Comme Des Garcons in 1988 Olson got the idea to release the trio's project under his brand Bianca Chandon. This limited 12” has embodied the spirit of the creators and the motivation of the brand to become Bianca's first record release.

Fredfades is making his name in hip-hop circles worldwide as one of the most jazzy producers around. He's joined up with the gifted jazz trumpeter Kristoffer Eikrem for a full "Jazz Cats" LP. Needless to say, the project lives up to its title. The two enlist several other jazz musicians on this innovative LP, as well as rappers like Ivan Ave.

Born in Cameroon, Vicky began banging the drums at the age of 9. By 13 he had moved onto bass and within a couple of years he was playing every night from 10pm to 5am in the Castel Douala Cabaret. At the age of 19 Vicky moved to Paris to study Banking and Commerce and cram in even more music. He took classes at Épinay-sur-Seine Conservatoire music school and it was here that he met Bandmates of his Dikalo project.

Word spreads and he soon becomes one of the most sought after bass players in the Afro arena. His session work features on many scenes stars, Manu Dibango, Eko Tala AM, Kemayo, Sammy Massamba, Toto Guillaume and many more. A chance meeting with the Gibson brothers also see him play on two of their hit albums. In the 80's Vicky moved to the US for spell and excels as a session bassist and touring musician.

We pick up the story in 1981. With his stature as a musician and bass player riding high he takes a detour to Nigeria to record with the Afrodisia label in Lagos. The "Thank U Mamma" album is the result. It is repressed for the first time, here in 2018 on the revitalised Afrodisia label.

Musical proceedings open up with the heartfelt ode to his mother "Thank U Mamma", smooth pop meets afrobeat boogie. "Marina Drive" slows things down with its smoldering jazz. Side Two opens with "Its Not Serious" a catchy vocal number underpinned with funky guitars and striding basslines. "Stormy Rain" is lazy guitar jazz swansong. We close off the album with the ever so funky "You". Slick funk grooves powered along with a dose of slap bass. As a side note Vicky actually plays left handed but with a "upside down" right handed bass. This upside-down precursor making his effortless slap playing even more impressive.

Vicky went on to record a two other albums and still tours and plays as an ever-in-demand session musician.

Speaking of what "limited" means to us in the in the year 2018, 155(!) hand-numbered copies of this 45 have been manufactured. Some record labels announce "limited" editions in the first place, then pressing up second and third editions with purple-green-yellow wax and reversed labels to justify their bestial act. We do not find that fair in any way so you can be sure that there won't be a repress or second edition of this "limited" 45.

On 7th August the godfather Mike Dunn presents an EP fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house, entitled 'DJ Beat That Shhh' / 'Move It Work It'. Taken from his forthcoming album due for release in October 2017.
Both tracks capture Mike's essence, placing his trademark hip house booty style vocals and stripped-back, jacking drums centre stage.
'DJ Beat That Shit' is classic, bumping 90s Chi goodness updated with modern technology, whilst 'Move It, Work It' is a no-nonsence smoke and strobe throbber, that recalls the best of Trax and DJ International.
For anyone who knows their shit, Mike should need no introduction, but for those that don't, he was highly influential in birthing the modern day dance music phenomenon, especially with tracks like 'Face The Nation', 'God Made Me Phunky', 'Let It Be House' and 'Personal Problem'.
Mike created hip house, DJ'd with fellow legends Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and Armando Gallop, produced for house heroes Armando, Fast Eddie and K-Alexi Shelby, and worked with the iconic voices of Byron Stingley and Kym English.
After a long absence from DJing in Europe, Mike returned in 2015 to rock crowds at Panorama Bar, Fabric, Concrete, Sub Club and Glastonbury, demonstrating why the Chicago OG is still very much in demand.

A bit of an emotional moment for us - this much needed repress of one of our very favourite slabs of vinyl that have passed through these doors over the years. Exploring the very outer limits of dancehall and techy D&B, both sides writhe and snarl at 90bpm, beating you over the head with pressure cooked kick drums, drop forged snares and, those ugly, ugly mentasms. Upon it's original release, it was a challenging and very rewarding record - one that had DJs scratching their heads, dancers demanding wheelups and, more recently - more than a few emails from people asking if there were any copies left stashed away. Both side's disregard for genres and conventions mean this plate sounds just as fresh now as it did upon it's original release date - arguably it's better stationed for tactical deployment now than it was back in 2013 - The current crop of stripped back dancehall (and halftime D&B that has been undoubtedly informed by it) are in rude health and prime for disruption with this record. That said, regardless of which styles you play - this is one of those wildcard riddims that can be used at peak time to wreak havoc on any dancefloor. Blacklabel, sticker sealed pressure, with a yellow paper insert of the original artwork. One of those records you'll pull off the shelf in years to come, no doubt about it. From 1977 this double-header is an Eastern themed, moog driven oddity from the mysteriously monikered Kamel Oil Company. Written by the legendary Bob Azzam, Eddie Barclay (founder of Barclay Records) & Greek record company owner Antoine Flamaritis, 'Mustapha' is an exotica soaked orchestral monster with choir vocals and string arrangements that only the big boys could call in. This is a serious left-field nugget from the vaults of one of the biggest majors, one ends up thinking - 'how did this come about!'. On the flip-side we have 'Petrolo En Bruto', which is the real gem here, undoubtedly this one will appeal to fans of the far flung reaches of world music and psych, even those of you who dig the various flavours of Funk from around the globe. A truly special and unique record here, often sought after by the deepest of the crate diggers and obscure sound searchers on a promo 45, this rare EP now sees a fully legit reissue. Made in conjunction with Above Board distribution and RCA this reissue is sourced from their vaults using original materials and remastered and repressed to the highest standard for 2018 and featuring all original 1977 RCA label artwork.

One of the most mysterious and outsider 'Soca' 45s out there by H.M. 'These Eyes' Timothy.
The A-side 'Let Me Love' sounds like doo wop recorded with Oluko Imo's gear. And the B-side 'Soca Hustle' sounds like the Residents jamming a Marvin Whoremonger song with Augustus Pablo. The original 45 is so obscure that even his siblings didn't know that he made music. And rumour has it that, frustrated by its lack of success, Michael threw most of the copies of the 45 in the valley beside his family's house in the hills just outside Port Of Spain. One-time pressing of 500 copies.

Super talent "Ancient Methods" lays down an incredible remix collection of the excellent "Luster & Beta Evers" track "Eternal"which was originally released on 7" through label "Zerohour Doom & Glamour" back in 2011.

Yellow Sunshine' by the band of the same name is an essential proto-Disco jam from back in 1973. A big one with the underground Disco heads and B-boy DJ's in the Bronx alike this record is a sure-shot! Often early Hip-hop DJ's would buy 2 copies of this 45 or the LP and cut it up long enough for the crowd to get loose and into the groove. A party-rocker of the highest order. Produced in Philadelphia, originally released on Kenny Gamble's 'Gamble' label and featuring some heavyweight players including Dexter Wansel, Roland chambers and more, 'Yellow Sunshine is the perfect blend of funk, Rock & Disco - old school style. Backed with 'Don't Tell Me later Girl' a la the original '73 Gamble Records promo this one's an essential for anyone who digs that Funk! There's always been poor imitations, but this 2017 repress is from the MASTER TAPES (Yes, we can prove it) and is fully, 100% LEGIT in every way. Genosha 21 sees the The Outside Agency collaborate with four different artists from all corners of the world on the third volume of their label's Goes Noord vs the Rest of the World collaboration series. Fracture 4, Broken Rules, Dep Affect and Sei2ure all stepped up to help deliver four awesome tracks ranging from 155 to 160 BPM with ridiculously loud ride cymbals. Maya Deren (1917-1961) was a Russian-American filmmaker and one of the most important voices in avant-garde cinema of the mid-20th century. When she decided, between the end of the 40s and the beginning of the 50s, to make an ethnographic film in Haiti, she was criticized for abandoning the avant-garde film world where she had made her place, but she was ready to expand to a new level as an artist. Deren not only filmed, recorded and photographed many hours of voodoo ritual, but also participated in the ceremonies. It was in working on this film that Deren recorded the Haitian musicians found on these sides originally released in the very early days of Elektra records. 'Voices Of Haiti' (here repressed as a 12" with new mastering) -a beautiful artifact of percussion and chant heavy ritual music- is one of the earliest and best Western ethnographic documents of voodoo culture in Haiti. It is unmissable both for its historical value and for the beauty and spiritual power of the music it contains.

"Milan, Italy, 1983. In the midst of the 80s economic boom, which gave an injection of optimism after the heavily political 70s, a group of young local musicians meet every night in a basement to rehearse and record a peculiar breed of Italian disco music. Originated from the ashes of various other projects, and rooted in the broader jazz-funk tradition, the group creates music which is equally inspired by contemporary fusion as well as by the first wave of the italo-disco sound. Over approximately 3 years the band has recorded and played live, until the dismantling of the project towards the mid 80's.
Fast forward 35 years and the genuinely mediterranean flavor of Qvark's demo recordings are still enjoyable, both for the actual resurgence of the Italian disco tradition and for the groovy quirkiness of a project which has been too long forgotten. After an intense work of audio restoration of such tapes, heavily affected by time, Early Sounds is pleased to present a compilation which is an important find to define the sound of late 70's and early 80's Italian club sound."

This track is a perfect dj tool. Very nice progressive acid techno floor filler with heavy energy on the 303 patterns. This beat goes on!

A2. Coffee Spliff
A mysterious opening on this one. The punchy kick will make a perfect minimal techno track out of it. Let the dreamy atmosphere take over.

B1. Dark Summer
On the b-side you can notice the energy is building up. The reverb on the acid sweep creates lots of space around you. High quality acid techno.

B2. Zodiak Prophecy
He ends this journey with an uptempo acid techno piece with a dark progressive touch. The delay on the 303 glues the whole track together. This prophecy is fulfilled.

So, in the spring of 2017, Fritz dusted off his old drum machines and his Jupiter 8 and immersed himself in the sounds, that first brought him to electronic music twenty years ago and which were to form the basis for his present album 'Drown'. At the beginning of his career it was about establishing himself through a new approach for Fritz. Now it is about celebrating those sounds and their liberating effect on our consciousness. The focus is electronic music as Fritz Kalkbrenner first got to know it in the German capital's now legendary Techno and House clubs as an impressionable young man. The cut, that leaving out the now so familiar baritone voice represents, opens the door to a whole world of electronic music, which is suitable for home listening as well as for the club.

There are no confining conventions on these 12 tracks and at times one could also say: no restraint. Fritz Kalkbrenner indulges in his fascination for Dub Techno, in clear and dominant House arrangements and also in the anthemic melodies that shine through the tracks several times on the new album.
Fritz underlines this new beginning, which is at the same time a reflection on his own beginnings and his own origins, by choosing not to appear on the album's artwork himself this time. Instead of a picture of him, there is a great, atmospheric landscape painting. The brush strokes form the bank of a river or a lake. They are abstract, which makes them all the more expressive. It is the work of Fritz' grandfather, the famous East German painter Fritz Eisel and its title is 'Winterabend (winter evening) in M.'. It was created in 1990, when Fritz was nine years old.

Answer Code Request returns with his sophomore album Gens on Ostgut Ton, entering darker but equally bass-heavy territory.
Answer Code Request's 2014 debut LP Code was an exciting moment for electronic music in Berlin - one that offered a break from the eternal hall and monolithic 4/4 kicks that ruled the city's club landscape. As a hybrid gesture, the album's spirit recalled an especially fruitful era in the German capital from the mid-90s to early 2000s, when dub and paddriven Detroit techno cross-pollinated with Berlin's industrial aesthetic to create one of the city's most exciting musical chapters.
Today the musical vision offered by Berghain resident Answer Code Request, real name Patrick Gräser, has proved far-sighted. While at first glance electronic music in 2018 seems increasingly balkanized, borders between genres have once again become fuzzier.
Now, on his follow up LP Gens, Gräser looks beyond the bass euphoria of Code toward darker horizons and a desolate atmosphere befitting of current global circumstances.
In a sense, Gens (Latin for tribe or lineage) reverses the notion of the hardcore continuum as proposed by music journalist Simon Reynolds: embedded in a tradition of US andcontinental European techno, Gräser seeks its disruption through hardcore outgrowths, from ambient jungle to later variations of British bass music and IDM. It's an interesting twist when seen in the larger biographical context of Gräser who, born and raised outside of Berlin in early 1980s, jumped from East German youth radio DT64 to American hip-hop, acid and early UK hardcore - a radical shift of musical interest born of a radical shift in political circumstances. On Gens, the unsettling atmosphere is established early on with the fading rave opener of the album's synonymous title track, and continues through the scrambled military communications and post dubstep rhythms of 'Sphera'. From there, sci-fi pads, heavy phasing and alien syncopation lead explorative third track 'Ab Intus' out into space. Aglimmer of otherworldly positivity arrives with the warm, distorted breakbeats and interwoven synth melodies of album standout 'knbn2', while Gräser's most dancefloororiented melds jungle and techno, Amen and 4/4 kicks, on 'Cicadae'.

Mondo Groove celebrates Italo-Disco in fine style delighting us with the most important tunes from the legendary Phantom Records; a ride deep into the world of the label that has not only produced renowned music, but has been acknowledged as a serious influence on modern disco sounds. Emerging in the late 70's to early 80s, Italo bridged the gap between disco and house, and was a staple of seminal Chicago DJs like Frankie Knuckles (who pioneered many of the drum machines and synths that are still in use today).

I-Robots, a true connoisseur of the genre, hailing from the Piedmont area of Italy, curated and carefully selected the tracks on this compilation.

This eleven track collection features originals and rarities, officially repressed here for the first time, and 2 tracks re-edited by I-Robots. The LP comes with the original Phantom Records logo on the front, scans of original 7-inch and LPs covers, as well as photos of the era on the back.
The sequence begins with "Come with me" by Carlotto. Roberto Carlotto was a keyboard player and singer who was very active since the 1960s. His solo recording career began in 1971 with a 7-inch release, and was followed by the progressive rock cult album "Dedicato a Giovanna G." signed under the pseudonym Hunka Munka. At the time he was distinguished by its remarkable technique and the high quality of its equipment that included an incredible number of keyboards and even the first examples of electronic measures. "Come with me" is an astounding unique Rock-Disco tune pressed only on 7-inch and highlights all of its instrumental and vocal prowess in a tight rhythm.
Comet Music Hall also came out as a 7-inch as a promotional edition for the homonymous discoteque - a kind of psychedelic-disco still currently produced by Enzo Draghi, a key figure of the Phantom, among others.
Roberto Ferracin is the man behind the Music One project, the name by which he produced only one LP of short electro-disco jingles. Included here are four of the most powerful cuts.
Every Italo Funk-Disco collector knows "Radio Cosmo 101", a soulful jazzy-disco-funk number produced by the homonymous radio station that was based in Alessandria in 1975, and spawned from the mind of Tony De Giglio, his two brothers, and a group of friends. At the end of 1974, Tony saw "American Graffiti", which instilled the desire to create a free radio format which became very popular in Italy. The programming took place at De Giglio's house and the wavelength was, in fact, 101 Mhz. The show immediately became quite popular, with programming that began in the morning at 10am and ended at 11pm. Included in this LP are the vocal and instrumental versions, as well as a long-version edit by I-Robots.
Don Luigi Bernini is a Piedmontese priest who has devoted his life to music. His father played the organ in church, and in those days the electric organ did not exist, therefore the father used little Luigi to push the bellows. The boy soon learned to play it as well. He then entered the seminary but continued to study music and graduated from the Vivaldi Conservatory of Alessandria in piano and choral composition. Later, he became a teacher of music education at the State School. He was introduced into the world of pop music by producers Riccardi & Albertelli and debuted with a single in 1977. Of his discography, his most interesting work is undoubtedly the weird "Telepatia" of 1979 - an experimental album, electronic, psychedelic, with the theme of good and evil always in the foreground. Featured in this collection is 'Whirlwind', which was recorded by Roberto Ferracin (Music One) and Enzo Draghi.

T-Coy's 'Cariño' - An all-time UK acid house classic from 1987. Fusing the industrial clicking and whirring of the UK's post-industrial landscape with the lush, melodic, balearic inspired piano lines of the white isle and sucking us all in in the process. A true masterpiece courtesy of Mancunians Mike Pickering, Simon Topping and the late Ritchie Close who's combined projects included Quando Quango, M-People, Annette, A Certain Ratio and more. It's truly hard to believe this record is 30 years old. It can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with anything being released today. The B-side 'Regret' is also an amazing, minimal slice of punk-funky 808 driven niceness. Super stripped back and with an innocent charm and poppy vibe it is the perfect foil to the latino house chaos of 'Cariño' on the other side. One could argue that the A-side will take you up, and the B-side will bring you down (In the best possible way!). This classic has been legally reissued by Above Board distribution in conjunction with the legal rights holders - Sony Music Entertainment. This high quality repress features original 1987 Deconstruction Records label artwork and has been remastered from Sony's original sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.
