Remixes JID020 is the twentieth installment in the Jazz Is Dead catalog. This remix album features London based artists Shabaka Hutchings and Theon Cross, New York tastemaker Melanie Charles, LA based producer Bei Ru, Brazil's Dj Nyack, Detroit based producer Tall Black Guy, Bay Area producer Mophono and the LA based house duo LO & Disko. Remixers sampled the previously released Jazz Is Dead records created by Adrian Younge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and icons including the following: Lonnie Liston Smith, Jean Carne, Tony Allen, Henry Franklin, Phil Ranelin, Wendell Harrison, Garrett Saracho, and Katalyst.

Label mainstays Fouk just dropped the perfect dancefloor Bomb with ‘Mirage’ paired with a high-octane Elisa Bee remix

We all know Dutch duo Fouk from their soulful, bouncy take on house music. They’re also responsible for some of Heist’s biggest tracks like Kill Frenzy or their Lil Louis inspired 2021 release ‘Blue Steel’. On their new EP, the talented duo shows us a fresh side of their sound: the main-room hands-in-the-air-going-wild side. To top things off, Italian producer Elisa Bee made time in her busy schedule of DJ’ing and releasing for artists like Ben Sims on his Hardgroove imprint and Unknown to the Unknown to deliver a killer remix of the title track.

Fouk’s return to Heist after 3 years is a welcome one and with ‘Mirage’, they might just have given us their biggest house track in their decade spanning career. The track is built around a stuttering synth loop and a seductive female vocal chanting ‘What made you wanna…” The real star here is the bassline, which propels the track into a seriously infectious groove. Add some lush strings and moody changeovers and you’ve got yourself a full-blown dancefloor weapon. Mirage has been a staple in Dam Swindle’s sets for the past months and has been one of their set highlights ever since.

“Coffee” is one for the classic Fouk fans. It’s got lovely Rhodes, a joyous combination of whoo’s, snare-rolls and synth hits grooving on top of an infectious orchestral background loop. “Tapioca” is a hybrid latin-electronic groove that builds on punchy synths, live percussion and drunk keys to balance the energy of the track.

Elisa Bee’s remix of ‘Mirage’ is an intense percussive workout that builds on a breakbeat loop and a rave-bassline. The tempo is turned up a notch or 2 and that stutter synth and vocal of the original make this remix a wild warehouse affair.

Closing track of the EP is ‘Abalone’; A lovely bleep-house affair that still has a bit of that warehouse vibe. It’s got the perfect amount of distortion the drums while keeping things dreamy with some face-melting pads throughout the track.

Maurice Fulton's outrageous remix of "The Fall" by Rhye has been cherished as a stone-cold masterpiece for the past decade. Out of print almost immediately, its legend has only grown and for too long it's been impossible to find a copy without parting with considerable cash. We've wanted to remedy this situation for years so we're delighted to announce that we've finally given it the Be With treatment.

The word ‘genius’ is bandied about liberally but it's fair to anoint Maurice Fulton with such lofty praise. Sheffield’s king of oddball disco, Fulton is one of our favourite artists, an outerspace-minded producer with roots in Baltimore club music who has no problem injecting dank interplanetary funk into the smoothest of acts. And so it goes with his remix of "The Fall". Rich and typically off-kilter, this is spellbinding disco par excellance. Fulton arms the track with a juddering electro-funk synth-bassline before shifting to a twanging disco reverb and conga-led, crash-cymbal-elevated groove.

Essential doesn't even cover it; it's just astonishingly good.

The gorgeous original, situated here on the flip, is a sublime serenade, all twinkling strings and sweet, sumptuous vocals over smooth, jazzy piano styles. It earned comparisons to Sade, Air and the xx upon initial release and it's still easy to understand why; it's warm and buoyant yet deeply melancholy. Elegantly downlifting, you could say.

Simon Francis remastered the original audio for both tracks and Cicely Balston's precise cut for Alchemy at AIR Studios ensures this 12" well and truly slaps. The immaculate Record Industry pressing will ensure this incredibly sought-after masterpiece finds a home in many more DJ boxes this and every year.

Andi Otto’s Bangalore Whispers gets finally repressed. The psychedelic track which he recorded together with the Indian singer MD Pallavi in 2016 has become a hit in the downtempo scene around the globe (“Saaaa - resa nisa”). Pingipung press a new edition of the much sought after single on the occasion of their 20th label anniversary. In this 2022 edition the original track is paired with the Peter Power remix which has not seen the light of day on vinyl before.The Brazil-based producer slows the track down a notch and adds even more space. A perfect tune both for the dancefloor or meditation.

Inspired by the sounds of his native France, brought to life by Barcelona, the city he now calls home, Late Night Superglue present 5 exquisite tracks from Farres.

Mecca And The Soul Brother from Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth is considered by fans and critics as one of the finest hip hop albums of the early 90s. Songs like “Lots of Lovin”, “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)”,”Anger In The Nation” and “It It Ain’t Rough, It Ain’t Right” have everything; funky basslines, solid production, convincing lyrics and lots of soul. Producer Pete Rock built his beats from obscure R&B, funk and jazz records and CL Smooth added his sometimes philosophical raps. Guest rappers on the album include Grand Puba (of Brand Nubian), Heavy D, Rob-O, Grap & Dida, and it reached #7 in the US R&B/Hip-hop charts and #43 in the US album charts.

Originally produced by Mystic Jungle and Whodamanny, this one gets a work over by The Egyptian Lover who gets his freak on and delivers in his inimitable style...You know what's up!!! Hit La Rosa are the heirs of the psychedelic cumbia of Los Mirlos and Los Destellos. The band explores the many facets of Peruvian cumbia music, infusing it with pop music, folklore, jazz and dancehall to produce its distinctive grooves and hooks. “Ceres Entrópicos” it’s a collage of the landscapes and rhythms of Peru, product of sound exploration and free composition. This special edition of the original album has some remarkable additions like ‘El Pongo’, their single with the legendary amazonian group Los Mirlos and the remixes of the outstanding Latin producers El Remolón (Ar) and Ballcap (Mx). The band's precise-yet-dreamlike music and punk sensibility all come together to make music that explores life's shadowy sides. They are one of the Peruvian bands with the biggest international growth and one of the few with a Tiny Desk Session. The band is inspired by the sound of Peruvian Cumbia roots and also explores the folklore of other cultures around the world. Their experimentation is wrapped with a contemporary sound and psychedelic vibe that blends into a particular and unique harmony. The band hit Lima's underground scene in 2014 and released their first studio album in 2017 called "Hit La Rosa y Su Gran Unidad Tropical". In 2021 they released “Ceres Entrópicos”, their secondstudio album (digital only). From the beginning until now they have been part of the biggest festivals in Peru, the rest of Latin America, USA and Europe. “Ceres Entrópicos” it’s a collage of the landscapes and rhythms of Peru, product of sound exploration and free composition. n Greyscale's continued focus on evolving and expanding the experience of the label, we have some exciting news to share with you. We are launching a new series on Greyscale - the Spectrum Series! This premier outlet will be dedicated to the most special and colorful projects, stepping away from our usual black and white visuals. For the first project, we dug in the vaults and chose to put out a legendary Lithuanian dub track - “Kasdienybės Šventykla” by grad_u & Eazystyle MC. It was recorded back in 2009 which means we are celebrating its 15 year anniversary! Back in 2011 we recorded an English version and released it as a double CD that came with a string of memorable remixes. Now, and for the first time on vinyl and in
the true roots of dub, released on a special 10” record. But that's not all! Each new Spectrum release will include a full cover print with specially created artwork.
For those that are new to the track, 'Kasdienybės Šventykla' is a pure representation of the origins and the lineage of dub music from the 70's and early 80's. As a result, you will find the full vocal on the A-side while the instrumental graces the B. On the original, you have Eazystyle MC wherein he speaks about what is most important in the world...everyday life. "Don't look far, because you will find everything here..." he urges us all to keep the world small and focus on the things right in front of you and the environment you live in every day. Wise words to live by. Ones that resonate as well as the cool echoed out chords do. We couldn't think of a better way to kick off the Spectrum Series! Dombrance has been described by The Sunday Times as a 'French Jarvis Cocker with a bushy moustache and flares'. He is a musical maverick who last year released his debut full-length album and performed relentlessly across the globe from Glastonbury Festival to Downtown Los Angeles, a set before Underworld at Tropico Festival in Mexico and many more.

‘Bayrou’ is a politician who had to leave the government barely after entering it after being indicted for embezzlement of public funds. It’s a timeless electronic disco sound with sugary chords and glistening arps that bring cosmic warmth to the retro-future beats. ‘Cope’ is a politician who disappeared suddenly from circulation after publicly mistaking the price of a ‘pain au chocolat’. The fantastic tune is a prickly seven-minute disco odyssey with pulsating synth sequences and crunchy percussion. It’s twitchy and edgy and perfect for peak time.

First to remix is the legendary Francois K, who flips ‘Cope’ into a psychedelic wonder that navigates in different directions and through several genres that will make dancers lose their minds. Scandi-disco king Lindstrom then comes through with an exotic remix of ‘Bayrou’ that makes you imagine a cocktail pool party filmed by David Lynch.

"Memorie d'Inverno" is the first collaboration album from Original Krash (Producer) & Casco aka Helmet (Performer) with the partecipation of various dope mc's and singers also the vynil exclusive include two remixes from leggendary prodcuers Dj Skizo (from Alien Army) and The Next One (from Zulu Nation and Rock Steady Crew).

"Memorie d'Inverno" is a concept album released for Outboard Music in June 22 and the title in italian stands for "Winter Memories".
The LP it's worked and founded on the classic style of Hip Hop where bassline, cuts and drums reign on the productions all made with the MPC5000 sampling original vynils. The songs are concived as a phootage of a memory, so made too survive forever in the ear of the listener. All the tracks has been mixed analogically by Matteo "Nost" Nolli at Nost Studio (excluded the two remixes made directly by the producers) with the supervision of Original Krash and the work on the sound it's an essential part of the LP and melted with the fact that most of the beats are sampled from Jazz and Soul defines the Hip Hop flavour of the album.

Thw philosophy and the work ethic behind "Memorie d'inverno" it could be perfectly resumed in the titles of the intro (True Knowledge Is The Future) and the outro (Today, Not Tomorrow) as a perfect closing circle. The message is don't waste your time around unuseful stuff and keep focused on what you like and really desire to reach, so you better tie the laces to your shoes, bust your back and study to obtain what you deserve beacuse no one is gonna do that for you.

After a successful career in the corporate world, marketing guru and full-time mom Cristina has taken a bold step into the music scene, inspired by the minimal grooves emanating from Romania.

Her Satya debut EP, titled "Plan B," showcases a unique and tasteful fusion of drum-based dance floor beats and hypnotic melodies.

Growing up composing on the piano and studying harmony, Cristina's musical roots strongly influence her creative process, resulting in tracks that offer a perfect balance between rhythm and musicality. With a focus on key themes such as family, music, and life philosophy, "Plan B" is a strong musical package filled with intention.

Her collaboration with friend and fellow artist Francesco Mami - "Les Filles” - a peak-time jam dedicated to their respective daughters - adds spice to the already flavorsome solo concoctions.

Reel People Music breathes new life into its gleaming vault of back catalogue classics with brand new series Fusion Moves. The series will offer talented music-makers the opportunity to remix and reinterpret label releases of their choosing, kicking off with soulful progressive Kaidi Tatham in the hot seat.

Tatham’s modus operandi is clear from the get-go. Opening selection Sebb Junior feat. Paula’s All Of My Life flows dreamily upon that trademark Tatham mix of organic beats, polished horns and immersive keys. As Paula rightly sings, “the beautiful can happen.” And keep happening…. Reel People feat. Mica Paris’ reworked I Want To Thank You gains elegant funk and boogie bounce, a bubblin b-line and those upweighted backing vocals adding new urgency and depth, whilst some extended bass-end manoeuvrings on the collective’s 2020 hit Save a Lil Love provide a hugely effective counterpoint to Eric Roberson’s super-smooth vocals.

Tatham switches things up for his re-take of The Realm x Atjazz x Kelli Sae’s deep afro-house burner On The Road, adding wonderfully carefree jazz-funk flow ‘n’ feeling replete with sweet synth solos and guitar licks. The snappy syncopated rhythms propelling Daz-I-Kue feat. Hadiya George’s Pedigree and Monkey Brothers feat. Sean Escoffery’s stunning Losin’ My Head align to the rich broken beat heritage for which most admirers associate him but, true to form, he continues to glide compellingly between mood and moves….

From the loose bass-guitar groove of Eric Ericksson & Reel People feat. Debra Debs’ Don’t Hold Back On Love and sultry strut and swagger of AAries’ Don’t Give It Up to Sebb Junior feat. Muhsinah’s infectiously jammin’ Special – lovingly framed by nimble jazz-piano play – and the liberatingly upbeat dressing applied to Tony Momrelle’s seminal Fly, Tatham’s sonic upholstery right across Fusion Moves is as skilful as it is impactful. One expert body of work built upon another.

EVOLV is a visionary window into the mind of Dubfire, the journey of the ‘hybrid’ being and its evolution. Last year in October, an 11-track debut album was released on his long-standing SCI+TEC imprint. And now, just over a year later, Grammy award winning producer Dubfire returns to that sonic discourse, drafting in an impressive array of names to re-interpret the material, and accompanied by Dubfire's new audio-visual EVOLV show which picked up where the critically acclaimed electronic performance experience HYBRID had left off.
The eclectic package will include such notables as Glaskin, Arjun Vagale, Nadia Struiwigh, Mathimidori (dub alias of Mathias Kaden), Maral, Decka, DEAS, Carl Craig, Truncate, Drumcell, Chris Liebing, and Luke Slater as L.B. Dub Corp who have all given the original music in their own unique style.
With a career spanning over 3 decades, Dubfire has achieved global success as an artist with relentless drive, talent, and intuition. Lauren Ritter returns to her roots with “Antigone // Sarus”, a new EP featuring two emotive, nostalgic, and melodic compositions,
“Antigone” and “Sarus,” that sure to please fans of her All Day Dream 2015 debut Lark EP and her recent Rift Vision output alike. She
invites friends Powel (DE – All Day I Dream) and Zone+ (BH – All Day I Dream / Satya / Mixcult) to provide their takes on both tracks,
who weave in dynamic grooves and vocal elements in their signature styles to underscore Ritter’s melodic motifs.

Another great artist from the 80s back to vinyl: Roberto Buti has been involved in many important projects in the past, sometimes as a composer, sometimes as an arranger and many times by giving his voice for the project: “Xenon – Symphony”, “Next – You’re An Illusion”, “Reeds – In Your Eyes”, “Dr. Martini – You Are The One”, “Bob Robert – Storm In A Teacup”, just to name a few.

After almost 40 years, Mr. Buti is back in the 80s Italo Disco scene with a beautiful new track “You’re The Only One”. The vinyl release has an original production by Buti on the A side and as an alternative, the Flashback Remix (by Electro Potato) on the B side. Limited edition of 175 copies on the market.

Although one could imagine that by 1993 any Italo Disco nuances would have been vanquished from sophisticated Italian production setups of the time, it is hard to ignore its presence in this particular work of Italian DJ and producer Gianpiero Pacetti. Much more so than in the work of his contemporaries at the time who would have shifted into full on early progressive trance in pursuit of novelty. Resulting in a refreshingly playful exploration of melodic themes, an aesthetic only to be heard again more than 10 years later with Dutch works like Alden Tyrell. With exception of Alvorada which distinguished itself as completely detached from any of the previously mentioned influences, diving deep into percussive samba elements adjoined by alluring arpeggios and other subtle melodic ornaments characteristic of early progressive trancey movements of the time. Includes new remix of “Alvorada” by Berlin's E-Talking. Remastered with new artwork.
