It's with great pleasure that we present the 100th release of Quintessentials! Happy 100! Started in 2008, Quintessentials` slogan was and still is "deep, raw and real". On the way to the 100th release, we discovered talents like (just to name but a few...) Anton Zap, Baaz, Ugly Drums, Mat Chiavaroli, Simon Hinter or The Black Fan, as well as featuring established producers like Luke Solomon (as Lukatron), Borrowed Identity, Alton Miller, Simoncino, Soul of Hex, Felipe Gordon, Javonntte, KRL, Andy Ash or Ralph Session. Quintessentials has never just released stricly one type of music, but put together cool tunes from the House spectrum: Deep House, NY House, Detroit House, Acid House, Chicago House....or do we wanna call it just "House music"? This classic old school 6-track compilation features again a multi house culture and fuses present and past! Quite essential we think!

Before celebrating its 100th release, Quintessentials is very happy to present another ep from Detroit’s finest Alton Miller (in fact it’s his 4th for the label)! „Last one 1st“ is a driving and building Detroit inspired track, that doesn’t lack elegance. The remix courtesy of french hot shot Life Recorder (check out his full EP on Quintessentials as well) focuses on a proper Detroit House vibe, call it a classic. The b-side is deeeeep! The original version of „give it up“ is a smooth and soulful tune providing goose bumps. Switzerland’s finest house producer Shaka adds some club feel to a beautiful early morning track. Classic release!

2025 has been the comback year of Borrowed Identity! Nearly a decade ago, this super talented producer and DJ from the German Black Forest was omnipresent. Crafty beats, driving basslines and a deep raw feel was his tradmark then. And still is! After his collab EP with the Mechanical Soul Brother some months ago, it’s now time for a full solo EP called „Reminisce“. 4 tracks of powerful and raw House music, Borrowed Identity style! He’s back to stay!

Andy Ash is a long time contributor to the sound of Quintessentials, with his album "All the colours" being the highlight of his work. Until now! The Liverpudlian shows superb diversity on his new EP called "Silent Planet". The opener, "Patch 2" is a stripped down masterpiece of Dub Techno and a perfect club tool. "Hross" can be called Acid House, and you know we love that! The B-side shows more of a relaxed vibe with the beautiful string-laded "Franco alley" and the smooth low BPM track "Yellow". This silent planet has something to say and shows great variety of styles and Andy's skills as a producer - and yes, all AA releases have his own artwork!

Quintessentials welcomes back Ralph Session, whose previous drop ‘For The House Heads’ is still turning in crates and sets worldwide. This time, he dives into peak deep territory with 'Mad Deep'. The name says it all. It’s a masterclass in heavy yet soulful, hypnotic House. Reuniting with LA’s rising star Juliet Mendoza after their much-loved collaboration on Freerange Record last year. Her sultry voice and commanding presence just brings the title track to life. If that wasn’t enough, we are so excited to include a masterful remix from House music legend Jerome Sydenham! It’s dense, rhythmic, and uncompromising cool. Finally, 'Sway' closes the Ep with a late-night super sweet yet driving House tune that stays true to the underground spirit. Built for selectors, dancers, and true Deep House heads heavy rotation is guaranteed. There’s deep and then there’s Mad Deep!

Yessss! Here it is! The comeback we have all been waiting for! Borrowed Identity is back! A new year, a new signing : Life Recorder! The man from the south of France is well know for his releases on Visions, Hizou or his own Life Notes label and represents a very Detroit and Chicago inspired house sound. What does that mean? Just listen to tracks like «Natural instincts» or «Dreams»! There’s deepness, there are melodies, there’s a groove! To complete the full french package, another hot producer adds the remix : Aleqs Notal, well know for his Industrial Light label and releases on Sistrum or Phonogramme. Born and raised in the north of England to the house sound of Chicago and Sheffield, Marcus Paulson has become one of the most credible producers when it comes to classic sounding Chicago influenced house music. He has released on labels like M>O>S Recordings, Tom Carruther’s Non Stop Rhythm or Partout besides his own Junction 4 label.

His new "Pure EP" for Quintessentials is his most mature outing to date: pure house music, pure club tracks, a pure old school feel with a modern twist and a pure joy to listen to!

Ralph Session is no stranger to the House music scene. He's been dropping House tunes for years on quality labels like Razor n Tape, Local Talk, Freerange, Nervous…and he's not stopping there! His "For The House Heads" release on Quintessentials combines NYC Deep House vibes with modern & classic touches. Awaiting you are 3 dope club cuts he's crafted, complete with punchy beats, heavy bass lines, uplifting vocals and catchy melodies. This summer will be a hot one for the House heads!

The mysterious Black Fan is back! After his releases on Local Talk and Quintessentials, Black Fan is for sure one to watch in 2024. „I know – I am“ is his most mature work to date and shows his love for House and Techno when it started – New York, Detroit, Sheffield! Black Fan has his roots in the good old rave and early House days and has many stories to tell! He was DJing at places like „The Dance Factory“, „The Eclipse“, „Tolerance“ plus more times at the now legendary „Energy“ parties than he cares to remember, and has kept in love with House and Techno ever since. Be ready for „I know – I am“, a proper New York/New Jersey styled house tune or „deep rotation“ and „TE2“ - raw, deep and detrotish with a touch of UK techno! Ready for 2024!

Hailing from the south of Italy, Nico Lahs is a man of many tasks. Besides running the great „Cosmic Rhythm“ label, Nico has more than a decade of quality house music releases on labels like Moods & Grooves, Local Talk, Omena, Delusions of Grandeur or Josh Wink’s Ovum under his belt! „Easy loving you“ shows his diverse skills: proper club trax („Keep on groovin’“), freaky yet groovy stuff (well… “Freakin’“), emotional deep house („Come get me“) and raw and deep tunes („Easy loving you“), Nico Lahs can do it all!

„All The Colours“ was a concept that came about from Andy Ash bringing together his music and visual art in an attempt to try and identify the common ground between the two. In both mediums, Andy attempts to convey the full range of human identity – at first you see and hear euphoria and playfulness, but look a little closer and you will also notice anger, sadness and tension. On this album, Andy approaches house music as the vehicle to convey many different feelings. These tracks are designed to be played on the dancefloor and bring people together – this is what house music has always been about!

The whole album was made over a two-year period in Andy’s home studio using a mixture of analogue hardware and samples. During this period, Andy was suffering with some significant mental health problems and this album represents his attempts to channel this energy into something productive. This is also the first time Andy has worked with vocalists, bringing a new dimension to his music. Whether it is the old school inspired „The sound“ which features vocalist Erik Rico, or the deep and moody „I’m Here“ featuring Liverpool vocalist Amber Kuti, this album brings many different shades of house music to the table! A real statement!

Musician and visual artist Andy Ash has been around for quite some time and may be considered as a „hidden gem“. With his forthcoming album „All The Colours“, this will change! Andy fuses differnet styles from past to present easily and this teaser 12“ is just an small bit of what will blossom on the album. Andy has worked with vocalists, bringing a new dimension to his music. Whether it is the old school inspired „The sound“ which features vocalist Erik Rico, or the deep and moody „I’m Here“ featuring Liverpool vocalist Amber Kuti, these tracks are designed to be played on the dancefloor and bring people together – this is what House Music has always been about!

It's a great honour to announce this Detroit legend: Alton Miller! Alton needs no introduction. A classy producer for decades, we're more than happy that he sent us some essentials over for his new ep - essentials ya dig! The main track "Where u r" is a deep, emotional and jazzy clubber, just right for some hot summer club action. The flip side offers again top quality with "Hard to lose", which is pure detroit magic and "Give it up", a track that origianlly has been relesed in 2010 and now gets a deep soulful jazzy remix from Boddhi Satva. Essentials ya dig, indeed! And yes, we love that fantastic artwork by Giza One too!

Simon Hinter is enjoying the Saturday nights! He’s steadily progessing with his sound and the results are proving him right: Simon just released his second ep on Jimpster’s beloved Freerange label, plus a new releases on Moment Cinethique. And: „wanna make love“ from his first Quintessentials release (QE73) has just been included on the new DJ Kicks (K7) by Disclosure! We dare to say „WOW“! The new „Saturday night ep“ is the finest blend of House, Disco and Techno in the distinctive Simon Hinter way – bassy, raw and funky! Get ready for your saturday night!

Liverpudlian Andy Ash is no stanger to the scene. Improving his production skills over many years, Andy has an impressive list of labels he released on: Stillove4music, Delusions of Grandeur, Dessous or Foto Recordings just to name but a few. After two compialtion tracks for Quintessentials, it’s time for his first full release! The „Lightbulb EP“ starts with „Lightbulb transaction“, a straight floating club track just perfect for these summer nights. The b-side goes deeper, focusing on slower beats yet keeping the „summer vibe“. Andy Ash is not only a master when it comes to the perfect blend of House, Disco and Techno, he is also a very talented painter, as you can see on his artwork! Hats off for the music and the design Andy!

The mysterious Black Fan is back again! After his recent 7“ with Greymatter, he goes bigger this time and releases a proper 4-track 12“. We know that Black Fan has already released on respected labels like Wolf Music and Local Talk. We also know that he loves vintage analog studio gear as much as we love his old school touched tunes. But we don’t know what „RVBD“ means. And what’s with „tiger fisted“? Maybe we will find out! In the meantime enjoy this proper old school release.

This little beauty comes from Greymatter and Black Fan, two long-term friends and ex-studio partners.
Greymatter aka Graham Luckhurst continues to steadily release his unique blend of dance & electronics on labels including Toolroom, Future Disco, WOLF Music, Brownswood and more. His track “Tesla” treated by Black Fan (Local Talk, WOLF Music) in a Soundfactory way: powerful and reduced House music! Black Fan’s “Cuttlefish” on the flipside is this groovy, dreamy electronic music – was that once called “intelligent techno”? Anyway, just a pure bliss! More to come from Black Fan on Quintessentials soon! Ah yeah, this 7” is limited to 111 copies, so better be fast.

How deep can you go? Well, you better ask Japanese master Jank! Jank is another example of these “hidden gems”, but releasing on labels like City Fly, Mysterious Works and Boogie Café says it all. The “Piece of ballad ep” on Quintessentials is super deep and emotional House music. Keeping the BPM low and adding soul power and a jazzy laidback feel make these 3 tunes massive. Don’t look away if you’re into Theo Parrish and alikes!

First Floor is a japanese music lover and producer who got noticed by his release on swedish elite label Local Talk in 2018. For his second vinyl release, he digging deep again and shows some well crafted House tunes with some dope beats and great melodies. Topping things off there are 2 remixes: fellow japanese wizard Kez YM (Faces Recods, City Fly, 4Lux) adds some club flavour while new hot shot Simon Hinter (Freerange) stays deep and funky. Some hot tunes for a hot summer!

After well received releases on Shadeleaf, Dead Horse and Hot Peas And Butter last year, Preston's finest soul brother Simba comes through Quintessentials with the 'Box Room Perspective' EP.
Leading the way is „Can You Free Me?“ featuring the beautiful vocals of Maddie Ellerby taking a distinct soulful flex a la Kerri Chandler.
The dub takes things a lil deeper for the heads stripping back to the essentials much like a Matthew Herbert dub. On the flip we have „True“, what has been described as „90's Planet E meets Broken Beat“, an excursion between the lines of house, disco and techno.
It’s hot up north!

Time for another new face on Quintessentials: Goshawk! Been around with differnt projects for ages, this East Midlands lad has always been one of the finest exponents of eccentric deep house. Releasing tons of quality music on labels like Hudd Traxx, Boogie Café, DiY Discs or his co-owned Pressed for Time and Atjazz forthcoming, we simply couldn’t resist signing Goshawk. The „stricly bungalow ep“ offers classic house music and 110 slowdown tunes and is full of fun and vibes, rough yet smooth! „Never let me go“ is an uplifting, sexy vocal track, „why I sing“ is one of two slowdown tunes with a nice dosage of funk, „all I have to give“ is a rather dark club banger and „time is just a loop“ is a minimalistic slowish chugger. Yes, strictly bungalow!

The „Sans rouge EP“ is a return to Greymatter’s sampling roots reminiscent of his early works on WOLF Music. A record that sits half way between house and hip hop, in terms of style and tempo. „Sans Rouge“ epitomises that mood: starting out with a hip hop groove that drops into a beat-down house chugger. „Royale“ drops things down to an even slower motion with another tough beat down groove, chopped and driven key samples and a catchy vocal chop. The B-side start with a nice goodie: this is the first time that the full length/12” mix of „Move Slow“ has a proper release (the short version appears on the „7 years who cares?“ 2x7“ on WOLF Music). Greymatter’s most popular track of recent years - more heavy soul chops this time pitched more towards peak time. „Billy O“ finishes things off with a slamming, choppy club jam laiden with strings and vocals. Another mighty fine Quintessetnials release that shows all the talent of Greymatter!

Quintessentials has a long history in putting out those nice little (or sometimes big...) compilations. It was 'deep, raw and real". Then 'thank you freaks". After that 'gentlemen cuts". Now it's 'enjoy your cuppa"! Vol. 1 starts with 4 new and refreshing faces on Quintessentials. Marc Bianco is for sure no newcomer, as he's a part of the famous Moonrise Hill Material crew with Folamour and other top french producers. 'Wet Scott' is a smooth yet freaky tune with tight beats in a best MB manner. For german Effgee, 'feels like ding' is his first track ever released. Happy lad! And we're sure it won't be the last. Italian air man Wearing Shoes is quite new to the scene, but has a quite impressive list of releases already. For Quintessentials, he teams up with...well yeah, Javonntte (check his two Quintessentials releases, 59 and 61). Proper house music guaranteed! Last but not least, Roy Vision (another french artist who just released on Roots for Bloom) goes deep and dusty, with lovely Rhodes and snares! We hope you enjoy your cuppa!

Following on from the positive feedback for KRL's 'Third' EP (Quintessentials 62), we had to give the standout track 'Never Leave' the remix treatment. 'Never Leave' is a straight up house track with those beats and rhythmic synths, but with the outstanding vocals of Janine Small it makes it a head turner! The A-side remix, courtesy of Greymatter (Wolf Music, Unique Uncut) keeps the overall vibe of the original, but adds more dirt and bass business ready for club action. The B-side remix courtesy of Quintessentials buddy Loz Goddard (Church, Razor-n-Tape) takes a step into deep broken beat territory while keeping the beautiful vocals. We love both remixes, job's done!

Deep, raw and real Then NY*AK is the man! Andrew Scott has been releasing superb bottom heavy deep house groovers for many years on various top labels (like Local Talk, Paper or Ninja Tunes Technicolor). Now its time for Quintessentials! The A-side features after the sun, a deep, minimalistic and sexy groover, and mind, a blissfull and rich low BPM tune for an early morning come down. The B-side starts with vice, a proper Detroit track bassline, strings, rims and snares - and finishes off with the funky and mellow onions. Deep, raw and real NY*AK anytime!

After a remix and a compilation track for Quintessentials, it's the third time that KRL appears on the label and also his third full EP. Following on from his previous releases on Wolf Music Recordings (yes, he can even be found on the first ever Wolf Music release!) this EP is a mixture of two older ideas started in 2014 and two completely new tracks playing on a mixture of samples and field-recorded sounds. - Third' is multistyle. It's got proper house with - never leave', a track that features the beautiful voice of Janine Small. It's got rough deepness with - rhodes to nowhere'. It's got a bit of beat madness with - confession beat'. And it's got sublime, fragile electronics with - glacier'. We love that!

After his much acclaimed - how is club 246' (Quintessentials 59) some months ago, our Detroit maestro and non stop producer is back! We love Javonntte as he covers everything from live and direct cuts to smooth deep house tunes as you will hear on his - private party ep'. No big fuss just pure house music! 'Time flies' as the saying goes and indeed it has as Quintessentials celebrates its 10 year anniversary. For a decade this mighty label has been getting some true love and support from all quarters. Listening to the back catalogue now, most of the tunes still sound fresh and keep the label's famous "deep, raw and real" motto alive.

Quintessentials has always been a platform for new talents as well as established artists, and with he likes of Anton Zap, Vakula, Baaz, The Zohar, MCDE, Nicolas, Ugly Drums, Toby Tobias, Borrowed Identity, Mat Chiavaroli, 4004, Soul of Hex, S3A, Los Goddard, Felipe Gordon, Javonntte......to name but a few, it's an enviable back catalogue.

Time for some gentlemen cuts - again! Quintessentials spotted some hot european talents and welcomes Kian-T, Replica, Giovanni Damico and Kolja Gerstenberg to the family. Expect some freakyness, some funkyness, some deep basslines and some dope beats. And a lot of coolness. 4 cuts not to be missed! Thank you.

This second half of 2017 Quintessentials will offer a lot of south american music. Like from our long time friend and regular guest Soul of Hex! Hailing from Tijuana, Soul Of Hex (also know as Sebastien Vorhaus) has a rich, nuanced and grainy style with an authenticity that's closer in sound to vintage Detroit or New York pastures, despite his Mexican heritage. Busy DJing, producing and running his own label Vicario LTD, Soul of Hex is a driving force in the Mexican scene. His new Helipop EP offers different styles like a downbeat intro, a deep bassy rough house cut (Helipop) plus 2 back to oldschool rave/warehouse tunes not afraid using some uplifting pianos, catchy vocals and deep basslines. House music all night long!

Following a number of exciting tunes released on the renowned Quintessentials, here comes Mat Chiavaroli's first long-player 'No Stranger To Madness". Warm Fostex tape hisses and MPC swings, the guy from the Pescara hills delivers 10 tracks for both your dancing and listening pleasure. The A- and B-side tracks are drenched in dusty funk samples, gritty chords and syncopated rhythms. In 'Aroma De Mi Vida' Mat chops obscure Rhodes riffs and layering them with more elements, just like in 'Whoja Vu", a heavy-sampled disco juggler very close to his previous Quintessentials releases. On the flip we find some deep chords melting with powerful gospel vocals, giving life to a track that annihilates boring dancefloors. There's a similar vibe in 'Jeep Ridaz' that reminisces about seminal Atavisme classics with broken detuned bits and agitated cut and pastes give a sense of randomness. The second part of this album shows Mat Chiavaroli's deeper side. 'Double Pain' is a tune that progressively brings you to many aspects of what Mat loves: saturated female vocals stick out while gloomy chords gently develop. 'Storia Losca' has a slightly different attitude with a huge synth presence, live percussion and dreamy pianos. The D side opens with 'The Quiet Bobobo", a distorted floor delight and ends with something closer to Mat's early music, disclosing a fresh collaboration with the young studio fellow P.Lok. 'No Stranger To Madness' fits many bills and is an impressive proof of what Mat's musical ability is.

Originally released on the V.A. Quintessentials 50 and making rather big waves, 'Grooff Machine' from Ponty Mython gets the remix treatment for some more dope grooffs! Chicago hotshot Chrissy (The nite owl diner, Classic, Razor n' Tape) puts enough Disco and Acid in it and offers a great clubby alltime classic. Ponty himself fuses lost of House, Disco, Funk and 808 busines so that you can grooff to the max. And our mexican buddy Soul of Hex (Vicario Ltd, Freerange) keeps it dark and loopy before adding some splendid riffs. Time for the Grooff Machine!

Quintessentials is very happy to present their 50th release! To celebrate this, we invited some buddies to bring the deep beats. And damn they did! Mat Chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get Quintessentials 50 started! Great to see profilic dutch producer Nachtbraker (Heist, Quartet Series) on the label too. We love his style and he will soon be as popular as Ajax Amsterdam! His subtle and dirty "Bronco" fits in perfectly. The definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew). Alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. Last but not least is Soul of Hex (Freerange, Vicario). Our mexican friend is going very raw this time. Yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember)! As we are gentlemen, we added a Quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. Go and get it!

Our french friend Steven Wobblejay strikes back! After the sublime shake your tingsz EP' (QE 45), Steve presents again some dope deep raw tunes. Lots of old school flava with a new school twist! His partnership with Pablo Valentino as Creative Swing Alliance (Wolf Music, Faces, Tsuba a.o.) has been a great base for developping his own style. Another great talent is past, present and future Quintessentials artist Mat Chiavaroli, who's delivering a rugged and freestylish remix. Hang out - the way we love it!

Oh yeah, we love those tunes, we love the idea of this west (Mexico) to east (Lithuania) studio exchange, we love the jam style, we love the instant 'let's record it and put it on wax' feel! So we don't want to blow this up. No big PR stories, just good music made by Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew, Swedish Brandy, Eat More House) and Sebastien Vorhaus (Quintessentials, Faces Records, Vicario Musique). Buy it, play it, feel it! We just love those lil compilations here at Quintessentials, you know that. With the second part of 'Thank you freaks", we slow down the BPMs. And invite some freaks from around the globe to present their essential tracks. Like quality german duo Paskal & Urban Absolutes (again on Quintessentials!), Melbourne's finest Andy Hart (Melbourne Deepcast), the ever hot Ben Sun (with his current release on Delusions of Grandeur) and legend Toby Tobias. Quintessentials 32 or the 'B.D.D.K. EP' is a joint venture of up and coming Paskal & Urban Absolutes and House veterans Henry L & Ingo Sänger. All 4 producers are connected by their penchant for deep and raw house music, while living quite far apart in Berlin (B), Düsseldorf (D), Dortmund (D) and Köln (K). Paskal & Urban Absolutes recently released on the highly respected Sonar Kolletiv label among others, whereas Henry L and Ingo Sänger released on their own Farside label and have been playing House music all life long. The 2 original tracks plus the 2 remixes are all sexy swingers! Welcome to 2013!

There's no need to do a big introduction of Deep Space Orchestra. Si Murray and Chris Barker have releases on a number of heavyweight labels (e.g. Delusions of Grandeur or Use of Weapons) and regular guest appearances at club nights and radio shows throughout the UK and rest of the world. Their second EP for Quintessentials is some raw and analogue business topped with the DSO funk! Wolf Music hot shot KRL adds some piano and old school power on his remix and we must admit we're delighted!

Well, the ìdeep, raw and realî series has come to an end with volume 4, but Quintessentials
keep these lovely compilations coming. The ìthank you freaksî series is about hot tunes from
hot producers. And part 1 is offering a lot of them: Andy Ash, Uncle Deep, Chicago Damn
and Marcos Cabral! Quite essential!
