"Islands" is the result of a long search spent seeking sounds on various islands during his journey through south-east asia with a Tascam recorder and several directional microphones. He captured natural sounds from jungles, dunes, beaches and wild urban landscapes, not to mention the deep sounds of the Earth's elements: the sea, the wind, the interaction between man and nature.

The Belgian party organisation and record label De:tuned mark their 10th anniversary with the first outing of their 10 x 12'' series. 'DE:10.01' kicks off with a special treat from the 90s golden era: on offer a welcome combination of previously unreleased DAT material by Kirk Degiorgio and expertly affectionate As One remix treatments of both original Sensurreal and Jedi Knights (Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton) work, pure bliss.
The artwork of the first 9 collectable releases of the series forms a 3 x 3 poster display. De:tuned have called on designer Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) to create all graphic work.

Seb Zito is one of the essential pillars of the FUSE London crew and his productions always pack plenty of attitude. Drawing inspiration from rave records of the 90s, he returns to the label with The Source EP, a no nonsense two tracker.

The title track is razor sharp starting with a solid kick and a skippy pads before meandering through breakbeat at halftime. The One heads down a deeper road, but still pays homage to classic rave with a propulsive, low-slung bassline and soaring, dizzying pads remerging post-breakdown with a series of breakneck claps. Another great release from this great talent!

Belgium DJ / Producer ED1999 kicks off the debut release for his newly minted 'Porpax' imprint with 'Melodius Hubbub, a 4-track EP of hypnotic dark Techno saturated with modular wizardry. The release confidently displays ED1999's production power as well as the serious direction the label is aimed at taking. The music featured clearly inspired by the energy found in Tbillisi, Berlin, Detroit and anywhere else heavy duty underground music is celebrated.

'Path Of Hope' is a punchy mover heavy on the reverb, with washes of metallic gray atmospherics floating in and out of the steady analogue drum patterns. The track grows in energy throughout with additional claps, hi hats and melodies generating an absolutely effective tension building weapon.

Title track 'Melodius Hubbub' is pure hypnotic Techno at its absolute finest. Black as midnight elements drive the energy to dark territories. ED1999's perfectly positioned sonic peaks and valleys of thick musical textures ensure the dancefloor never loses a moment getting lost in the incredibly positioned hypnosis of sound.

'Winding Course' is centered around a gurgling synth ride which gives the track an uneasy and twisted vibe throughout. Additional melodic effects join the main synth, adding a romantic sense of danger and dancefloor movement. Akin to ED1999's brilliant ability to keep his music restrained and effective for serious club-goers.

'Sleazy Nook' is the darkest of the dark tracks found on the release, with shudder inducing effects and ice cold soundscapes residing alongside the winding rhythms. A truly intense breakdown midway through the track generates a clever sense of sinking, with only the kick drum returning to keep people safe from going under.

Rebar continue their geography-infused musical journey with the second EP, Lost in New York City. While the first release unveiled the majestic anthropophony of the Japanese capital, this release is centered around the city of New York. As in the previous offering, the three tracks all pertain to different styles, exploring different facets of techno, while carrying the common soundprint of the American metropolis. The first cut unveils a mesmerizing techno construction, while the second makes for a groovy interlude, rounded up by rolling techno in the third track. A mysterious and compelling affair, released on vinyl and digital at exactly one year from the inaugural opener.

Kenneth Scott finally making his debut on Vakant, long overdue, such a great DJ and repeated guest at Vakant parties. Phew.. Remixes by The Exaltics, co-owner of acclaimed electro imprint Solar One Music, and Evigt Mörker of Northern Electronics fame. The Exaltics & Evigt Mörker Remix will only appear on the vinyl.

French by way of Berlin DJ/producer La Fraicheur finally delivers with a first 9-track album, 'Self-Fulfilling Prophecy', her first release on the InFiné label. This remarkably dense, dancefloor-oriented album oscillates

between techno, ambient and electronic music, a mesmeric yet pounding effort that gets the body and the mind moving.

For over a decade now, first in Paris, then Montreal and now in Berlin, La Fraicheur has been brewing her own blend of Deep House & Techno beats, making a name for herself with her signature sound of emotionally charged

Techno sets. Marathon DJ, she is a resident in Berlin's renowned Wilde Renate and part of the Female:Pressure network. She can go on for countless hours, running the gamut from classics to new songs released only two hours earlier.

Expanding her craft by producing her own music ranging from ravy epic Tech-House to dark pumping Electro, spacious open air Deep House to melancholic Electronica, she spent the summer of 2017 doing an artist residency with the Berlin-Detroit Connection (organisation founded by Mike Banks (UR) and Dimitri Hegemann (Tresor) at the Underground Resistance HQ in Detroit, working on her first solo album. 'I want to use moments of dancing to stimulate a bit of political awakening' she says, and, speaking of her album in particular, (on which are scattered various samples of politically explicit content (for example, excerpts from aninterview with Angela Davis). While 'Self Fulfilling Prophecy' clearly aspires to raise awareness, it does so subtly, without ever relegating music to the second class. This is neither 'ready-to-think' or 'ready-to-dance', but an assembly of sophisticated rhythms, sounds and words that it are up to each listener to interpret in their own way. La Fraicheur does not seek to deliver a message, or impose a discourse, but to distil an idea and suggest a relationship to the world - a report to the world based on the affirmation of self and acceptance of others in all their differences.

Vigorous dark drone techno.

After an excellent 12inch on Rosten label SSTROM drops his first full length Otider, which is by far the most diverse offering of the project encompassing elements of different genres and putting them in woolen and dense sonic textures. Otider could be loosely translated as un-times or non-times. It positions the tracks out of specific context and rather represents them as some rediscovered artifacts relating to personal experiences of the artist. Otider slightly distances SSTROM from techno label as the compositions elegantly drift between lush transparency and thick grooves of outsider/lo-fi house as in Kronofobi or Svvaren or sensitive, yet subtly monolith and mellow techno on Damm and I Huvudet. In Modernisten we can even trace echoes of coldwave/synth aesthetics with melancholic guitars sweeping over hypnotic rhythmic patterns, while closer Sov Nu introduces something which reminds a darker form of garage music with light synthpads constantly surfacing among raw mechanical beats. All the tracks were created over a relatively long period between 2010 and 2017 by employing the process where he let his hands work automatically without interference from his head. This freedom could be felt across the release, which juggles with different musical forms so lightly and organically, but at the same time maintains a coherent vision, which illustrates the vast scope and diversity of the artist.

For the second release of their own imprint "Rapid Eye Movement", Memorial Home heads the way and signs an opus chock-full of profoundly personal character, high sensitivity and forceful refinement.
The EP, to be issued in November 2017 in both vinyl and digital versions, features three original tracks and two remixes composed by Kas:st and AWB. Properly titled "Somewhere", it is driven by an aesthetic quest for the essence of musical creation, when it becomes a channel of connection with the deepest self or intimate soul. Technical brilliance, expressed in its purest form and exempt of any tricks or artifices, here is clearly used to serve emotive escapism and the elevation of mind, while the body is shivered by sensitive thrills. Thanks to this mature recipe, the duo leads us into a crystal halo nurtured by immersive and melodic waves of arpeggios and emphasized by evocative ethereal breakdowns. With "Silver" and "Somewhere", the techno dogging beat and the steady bassline are appropriately mastered to highlight the dramatic progression of melodic synth textures that have a fierce mystical appeal. "Escape" demonstrates that an ambient-like downtempo can reach the same magnetic effect by harnessing a mixture of intimate and hypnotic atmospheres. The more energetic or banging techno approach adopted by Kas:st and AWB magnifies the cosmic spirit of the original signature without losing its genuine emotional sophistication and complexity. A captivating demonstration of anti-demonstrative mastery. No doubt that with this new release Memorial Home will speak to the mind of knowledgeable music lovers as well as nightclubbers in demand of subtle and elegant flavors.

Warm return once again... One of the most consistent and influential agencies to have operated in the 2000s, the collective continue to develop their original agency, events and record label, and things are heating up very nicely. Following soul-arresting releases from Elliot Lion and Face + Heel comes this four-track odyssey from Belfast's Lunar Orbit Rendezvous AKA LOR. Ready for take-off

Our mission is set with 'Mystery To The Viewer', but what is the main mystery Is it the gravity-defying thrust of our engines or the identity of the anonymous (yet well spoken) narrator Listen closely for clues amid the heavy pulsating chords as we break away from the earth orbit and plunge deeper into the stars.

'In This Detail' sees us hurtling further and further into the dark unknown. There's a deep chilling aesthetic at play here as LOR makes his 808s weep with the loneliness only a long-stay astronaut can sympathise with. In perfect contrast, the isolation is balanced by the direct and vital 'Oriole'. One of LOR's earliest projects, updated with all the skills and techniques he's learnt on labels such as Exit Strategy and Cin Cin, it's a vital composition that rises and rises as we engage hyperspeed through the cosmos. 

Finally we land back on our home planet to the marching momentum of 'White Light'. Almost stately in its pace and rhythmic stride, things suddenly take a turn for the intense as a warping bass siren triggers a much darker direction and a series of spasmodic kicks and heavily shelved filters. Welcome home...

In the shadows of a soft-shell giant a group of seven astronauts. entered Space and Free Rotation. Guided by mr Holmes abstract improvisation took place in the purple heart; surrounded by fluffy sheep, and left us all in silence.
For the second release on their recently launched imprint, Circle Of Live is proud to present Live At Freerotation 2018. The follow-up to Loop For Today is comprised of select cuts from an improvised live performance on the main stage during this year's Freerotation festival. The artists took over the main stage with an unscripted, freeform live performance from open till close.
Offering a recorded first glimpse into the free-flowing experimental set-up currently touring top European venues, the EP is a collaborative soundscape with contributions from Dorisburg, Johanna Knutsson, Mathew Jonson, Sebastian Mullaert and Steevio. With no prior planning whatsoever aside from an agreed BPM, the recording presented on this unique release offers a snapshot into the imperfections and charm of truly improvised live performance - a refreshing notion in today's overproduced musical climate. Conceptually, the EP can be understood as more of an open-ended argument in favour of spontaneity and collaboration than a collection of tracks.
Envisioned and created by Sebastian Mullaert, Circle Of Live represents an organic process which aims to detach itself from the habitual routines of dance music, to allow the weird and wonderful elements of collaborative performance to truly come to life. Utilising Sebastian's unique live set-up which can accommodate any number of participants at once, artists drop in and out and collaborate as much or as little as they like.
COL002 captures the best of Circle Of Live at Freerotation, an odyssey of sound, with rich textures providing a grounding for playful melodic and percussive improvisations. Gently rolling kick and bass patterns drift in and out, carrying the listener along, whilst analogue call and responses showcase the pure synergy of
the artistic interplay.

Anthony Linell's latest suite of tracks cruise and drift with their head up. With a dizzy palette of terse and winding melodies, 'Sculpting Energy' feels like another new avenue for Linell on his unbreakable run of EPs. Drone surveillance-style patterns remain intact this time around, hinting at the unmistakable frozen planes of his previous works, yet with the opening track there's the smack of bustling heat, as its title 'Therme' alludes to. The EP's closing piece, 'Vision of the Imminence', presents a familiar sullen theme. Perhaps the measure of his latest work's difference is in the modulating barbed wire-percussion and birdsong- synths that wrap the track's cold core

Inspired and challenging, Life and Death ventures into their eighth year confidently, constantly evolving without compromise.

Unnatural, uneasy, unexpected. 'The Great Filter' keeps you on your toes constantly, it makes your fingers tingle with anticipation and the hairs on your arms stand up from the tension. It is eerily calm and controlled, while it takes you to faraway places in the twilight, that don't actually exist. Subdued, bright yellow light with no sun in sight. Wide plains with an inherent structure that can only be illogical. Unorganic sounds, alien voices, excited synths and sobering organs. Reality is so mundane. The way we are now expecting it from Krink, he does what is unexpected and stretches conventions somewhere around techno and deep house. The music is driven by imagery rather than song structure. The EP puts cutting rhythms over comfort and sound over beauty. Like a focused dream, it is concrete and abstract. Let's get found in the universe. Lootbeg is no stranger to releasing quality music. With notable releases on Crow Castle Cuts and O*RS he also finds time to act as label head for "A Friend in Need". The Travel to Planet Trance is being played monthly at Sensu's club night at Sub Club in Glasgow, such is the allure of the melodic pensiveness of the lead track. Cydonia Mensae offers a similar feel for those looking for something a little more stripped back. On the bside Eupen lends a groovier house option before things get a little harder and darker with Relate.

Matt Edwards' R-Time Records reissue label drops four more Sir Lord Commix tracks in the third 'Retroactive' release.

Real name Amoon Andrews, the British house producer's early discography continues to fetch high prices on the vinyl market. Dropping earlier this year, the first two instalments featured some of Commix's finest cuts and now the Rekids offshoot presents the third chapter, following re-releases of Mark The 909 King,
FBK and Sanasol (Thor & Yagya).

The origins of the opening and closing tracks from this record both go back to 'Evidence', an exquisite release that dropped on Future Monument in 1997. Space fused melodies set the tone for the otherworldly 'Evidence' - a deep house cut that oozes with soul - whilst the euphoric 'Flash 'N' Folks' layers uplifting cosmic synths over a polished bassline.

Appearing on Brighton's Ugly Music in '98, high-spirited arpeggio keys are balanced over funk-infused drums in 'Soul House'. Tying it all together, the pitched up 'B Boy Disco' - appearing on Hard Up during the '90s - features ghetto house textures and lo-fi aesthetics those float throughout.
