This 3-part compilation is a celebration of On The 5th Day - a project born out of love - honouring the music, moments and individuals that have helped to make it so special.

What follows is a journey through the spectrum of sound On The 5th Day so proudly represents and has become renowned for, the full compilation mirroring the vision for our events: to create unforgettable flow from beginning to end - a record for each part of the night.

Our love and gratitude goes to all those who have joined us along the way.

After a short hiatus Maps Of Hyperspace returns with his sophomore followup to "Superspace". "Against All Ends" folds elements of drone, dubtechno, and spatial ambience, into a snug ohm meditative blanket and slow burns like an incense stick.

The Belgian party organisation and record label De:tuned mark their 10th anniversary with the first outing of their 10 x 12'' series. 'DE:10.01' kicks off with a special treat from the 90s golden era: on offer a welcome combination of previously unreleased DAT material by Kirk Degiorgio and expertly affectionate As One remix treatments of both original Sensurreal and Jedi Knights (Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton) work, pure bliss.
The artwork of the first 9 collectable releases of the series forms a 3 x 3 poster display. De:tuned have called on designer Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) to create all graphic work.
This kickstarter for the series is mastered by Matt Colton (Alchemy Mastering) and pressed on 180 gr vinyl. A separate digital version of every release will be available from the usual digital shops. Stay tuned!

aril brikha seems to be on a roll. with “dance of a trillion stars” he just recently released a laid back ambient album full of melodic slow-motion enthusiasm.

now, shortly after, the berlin based producer drops “prisma” – a record for dancers, that is more on the deeper side of the dance floor.

“five to six years ago i decided to take a break from releasing on my own label art of vengeance in order to see if i had it in me to make a new album. so, i found myself having this initial break that was intended to be six months but went on for almost five years!

during this time, i made a lot of music that i kept coming back to but i never managed to finalise it. after the release i did with sebastian mullaert, mule musiq kept asking me for more music but i just found myself not capable to look at this body of work of almost 50 tracks and choose what to finish.

as i was not able to make decisions, i asked mule to listen to 25 tracks of the 50 and tell me what they liked. the result was the “dance of a trillion stars” album early this year.

once we finished the ambient album, only dance tracks were left of whom some are featured on “prisma”. instead of having your usual "album" story arc featuring ambient intros mixed with dance tracks, we choose to release two separate albums.”

aril brikha confesses about the secrets behind his newly hectic release schedule that made him publish two albums within half a year.

since the late 1990's his music melds techno and house that seduces club music enthusiasts around the world. influenced by different kinds of electronic music - from depeche mode and jean-michel jarre to robert hood and underground resistance – his music dances between straight up club tracks and deep unwound moving arrangements.

he already released ep’s on labels like kompakt, poker flat, his own label art of vengeance as well as an album for derrick may’s transmat imprint and a long-player for legendary peacefrog records.

after two mesmerizing ep’s for mule musiq in 2016 and early 2019, and the ambient album “dance of a trillion stars” earlier this year, he now releases an all dance track album loaded with eight arrangements, that he produced during night time on his old hardware equipment which he started using again after years of them being tucked away in his stockholm basement.

“i always make music to listen to. it is never intended for a dance floor. i guess i'm not much of a dj-tool producer, i'm more a "music" producer.”, he confesses about his work.

his new tunes, who seduce with warm chords and pleasant melodies, tell a different story. they are all propelling, while staying somehow calm and avoid average party hysteria. precisely produced tracks between house and techno, that favour the warm soul of dance music.

underneath the grooves each track rolls out some ambient vibes and veils of trance, dancing to delicate hi-hat shuffles and starry chords.

“my 90's stuff was very detroit influenced, not in the hard techno meaning but more towards the soulful part of it. my 2000 productions were very melodic driven and i was trying to see how far i can push a "trance" sound without making trance music.

the newer stuff is probably mix of both.” aril brikha says about “prisma” and its power to unite different generic zones into one charmingly warm dance journey. together with his predecessor “dance of a trillion stars” it introduces a touching insight into a producer’s soul, that did not get lost in his very own creation of melodic electronic sci-fi dance-not-dance music.

De:tuned continue to celebrate their 10th anniversary with this second EP of the series and dive deep down into the ambient techno world. The A side makes you drift away on a rare Sun Electric get together, followed by a Higher Intelligence Agency piece of beauty. DeepChord's dubbed lushness completes this highly intense journey.

Almost 10 years after his last solo album, Matthew Puffett aka Future Beat Alliance makes a long-overdue return with new album Beginner's Mind. The deeply immersive nine-track album lands on 10th July 2020, The record is an invitation to "slow down, think mindfully and see more clearly”.

Over the course of a career that started in 1996, Matthew Puffett has taken great inspiration from Detroit futurism, mixed it up with his own UK perspective and become synonymous with soulful techno and electro that gazes off into the cosmos. His always emotive, melodic sounds have made for electrifying EPs and absorbing long players on esteemed labels like Tresor, Delsin, Versatile & Rush Hour, as well as self-releasing on his own Reward System imprint.

The last 10 years have seen Puffett working closely & collaborating on James Lavelle's UNKLE project. The resulting body of work includes co-writing and programming UNKLE`s 5th studio album, `The Road Part 1’, various film projects and advertising campaigns, and remixing a list of high profile artists. During this period UNKLE were winners of the MPG Remixer Of The Year award in 2016, 2018 & 2020. In the background, Matthew continued to make his own music and always looked to grow, evolve and infuse his sounds with new techniques and understanding. It was a collection of this music that eventually got crafted and shaped into new album Beginner's Mind, which comes just after a new 12" for R&S which hit the shelves on 13th March & features a remix from Afriqua.

Beginner's Mind, Puffett`s most cohesive record to date, is a soothing, escapist listen in these uncertain times & will slow the minds and swell the hearts of all who hear it.

Stunning new album from Chicago's finest electronic futurist Hieroglyphic Being, aka Jamal Moss, newly released on Soul Jazz Records. This is his third album for the label, following on from "The Acid Documents" in 2015, and African With Mainframes (w/ Noleian Reusse) "K.M.T." in 2016.

Born and based in Chicago, Moss's music embodies two of the cultural foundation blocks of the city's musical lineage, that of Chicago's original Acid House sound (c. 1986) - Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, Marshall Jefferson et al, alongside a rigorous experimental sound searching that taps into the cosmic musical lineage of pioneering artist Sun Ra whose Arkestra landed and was based in the city from 1946-61, and the equally pioneering work of 'The Art Ensemble' of Chicago in the 1960's and 70's.

The association with Sun Ra is by no means hypothetical, Moss recorded with the Arkestra leader Marshall Allen and a host of free jazz players for the album Hieroglyphic Being & JITU Ahn-Sahm-Buhl's 'We Are Not The First.' in 2015. Similarly, his relationship to Chicago's original acid house pioneers of the late 1980's is no hyperbole. Originally mentored by artist/producers Adonis and Steve Pointdexter, Moss also runs his own Mathematics label, releasing a constant stream of new music by foundation acid house pioneers Lil' Louis, Adonis and many others.

What clearly defines Moss's music is that while sometimes pushing the limits of sound to an ear-splitting dimension of experimentation and DIY-electronics - the music is always clearly a progression of the lineage of black music. In the words of fellow Chicagoans, 'The Art Ensemble' of Chicago, it is simply 'Great Black Music.'

And yet in this uniquely defined sound, Moss somehow manages to draw into this world elements of industrial music, German electronic music (Cluster, Harmonia etc), Detroit's sci-fi techno artists (Atkins, Saunderson, Craig) and more.
'Outsider House' 'Afro-Futurist' 'Rhythmic Cubism', Moss's near indescribable sound plays testament to the notion that he is perhaps the last of the line of producers directly influenced by Ron Hardy at the Music Box, uniquely qualified to write a new chapter of Chicago's rich musical history.

Red Notes is the prolific artists new revelatory and unique project - in his own words 'A homage to the Blue Note Jazz sound of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock' fused together with the classic Chicago House and Acid sensibilities of Larry Heard, Armando, Adonis et al, into a newly imagined futuristic and barrier-less musical landscape. Featuring organic and synthetic electronic instrument., Hieroglyphic Being here fuses real-time live instrumentation and over-dubbed technologies to dramatic effect, as analog and electronic worlds collide.

German label Bondage Music delivers the six instalment of its ‘Bondage Games’ series. Another vinyl only release, this time with four fresh tracks from Markus Homm, Andre Kronert, Pornbugs and Dust Yard.

In a cardboard media background, where cliche is law, where the digital essence of the personal data is more meaningful than the person itself, the Bait e Borghi project arises. The natural environment beyond anthropization, the technic and technologic strained clutch inside the places that inspired the album. The traveller meant as the one that makes the trip his own life, and that inevitably moves so far away from common archetypes that defeats every possible storytelling but the sound evocation. A sound that becomes the last unreal notebook like the matter which dreams and memories are made of. An unlikely but possible distopia where our last Thule remains the passage between body and machine, cyberpunk myth yet beautifully imagined and illustrated during the eighties. Not by chance Bait e Borghi share the same starting point, the same region that assumes twisted features if observed from the mid Adriatic offshore oil platforms point of view. Spanish DJ and producer Psyk returns to his own NON Series with 'Opal Lake'. This 40th release on the imprint and also the first release of 2020 is a stellar four track techno pack including a collaboration with fellow Spanish producer Architectural.

Opening track 'Biting Nails' sees a new studio collaboration between the two Spanish techno legends. It's a deep and emotive jam showing a surprisingly melodic side of both producers. Title track 'Opal Lakes' is the most powerful outing on the EP, fierce and driving rhythms melting into hazy atmospheres. With its crispy snares 'Bell Tair' flips the energy with an on-point minimalistic percussion workout where 'Outline' and its deep drums acidic riffs drags you below see level into a bright and lively underwater world.

Tammo Hesselink returns to Nous'klaer with a solo four tracker, further refining his sound from last year's summer sampler.

The label has the honor to welcome in its ranks the one who could be compared to a centurion, the greatest in charge in the Roman Army. With more than a decade of experience behind him and which has dictated the aesthetic canons of a genre, Lykos Records presents Ness and his EP "Memento".

In this sonic adventure Ness delves into the most hidden and dark ravines of memory. In a succession of allegorical scenes, dystopian premonitions and powerful evocative sounds "Memento", focuses his attention on memory and how much it is fundamental, both as a psychic function of assimilation, as well as for processing data in order to learning.

The EP opens with the track that gives the name to the work "Memento", which immediately wraps the listener with the deep bass sound and through a wise use of the pads and synths kidnaps his mind. When body and mind have reached the perfect union, "Bionic Harp" comes into, breaking these balances, with the body undergoes through a pressing groove and the psyche intent on the perception of a harp melody, which echoing far away like a vague foggy memory.

The B-side begins with a Utopian and almost catastrophic vision that "System Failure" paints, through scratching and repetitive sounds, alarming and catapulting the listener into a dark and distressful nightmare. To conclude and restore calm in this comings and goings of dreams and memories, Deepbass's adaptation of "Bionic Harp", which highlights the dreamlike atmospheres, creating a sound landscape rich of air and light.

Original soft boy Larry shoots out lemon water on SH006 and welcomes a side of Cocktail Party Effect remix gobble. The Kauz EP sounds rushed but some sonic aesthetics have been considered. Particularly where 'bleak' and 'digital' are married with 'uplifting' and 'personal' themes. All considered, swinging fists and other beaters are present in the form of drums that help take the edge off. Cocktail's Party Effect doesn't hurt too much until you stick it up really loud but don't lose yourself - you are just another human after all.

Inspired by Gibson's 'Neuromancer', Patrick Holland dives deep into the ambivalent future with Simstim. Also known for work as Project Pablo, Simstim uses familiar motifs with a more personalized touch. Pointillist melodies lay in a wash of noise artifacts, as pulsating rhythms fray subtly falling between sections, all delicately glued together with blissful harmonies. For the dancer and/or headphone listener alike.

Martin Jenkins, more commonly known as the artist Pye Corner Audio, epitomizes Lapsus' commitment to cutting edge sound experimentation. In 2017, he beguiled the electronic music community by releasing the 'Where Things Are Hollow' EP, on Lapsus Records. The Barcelona label is delighted to announce the release of ‘Where Things Are Hollow 2’, consisting of three brand new original cuts and a remix from none other than John Talabot. 'Where Things Are Hollow 2' explores a spectral and hypnagogic terrain, establishing an electronic sound that at times invokes Jenkins’ more dance friendly facet -'Self Synchronize', 'Weather The Storm'– while also offering his familiar iridescent dreamlike ambient textures –'Phase B'– that featured prominently on his first EP. This second EP also includes a remix from John Talabot, unquestionably one of Spain’s most internationally recognised names over the last decade, who exquisitely reimagines 'Resist' -a song from the first EP-, transforming it into a cross between EBM and hypnotic techno. From a graphic design perspective, renowned artists Alex Trochut and Basora have once again collaborated on this project, repeating the formula that made the artwork for "Where Things Are Hollow" such a collector's item. Forest Drive West joins Delsin and inaugurates their new Mantis offshoot with three tracks that build on his reputation for restrained, immersive atmospheres loaded with soundsystem-ready physicality. As an artist well versed in elegant beat science stretching from techno to jungle and touching on tempos and moods in between, he's perfectly placed to set out the blueprint for this new chapter in Delsin's expansive techno legacy.

Delsin's Mantis series expands its remit with the arrival of Italian duo natural/electronic.system. Already well-established as connoisseurs of deep techno via releases on Tikita and years of DJing at places like Labyrinth festival, Antonio Giova and Valerio Gomez de Ayala present four luxurious sound baths that occupy a space between techno and ambient - always propulsive and rhythmical, but with a huge emphasis on space and harmony.

Dutch techno duo D&S - or Dennis & Stephan to their parents - hail from Rotterdam and have a penchant for the classic sounds of Detroit. Their previous releases on SK Black, Orbis Records, Indigo Aera's AEX compilations, ARTS and Girada Unlimited have earned them support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Marco Bailey and Ilario Alicante, and this tasty new EP for Abstract Reasoning looks set to find similar favour.

The pitter-patter of classic drum machine hi-hats drive the title track along with swooping, filtered pads and gentle licks of acid, the track gradually evolving into a veritable bubble bath of 303 goodness and gated synth swells. Incidence continues the theme, with gentle cymbal rides splashing over continually evolving acid blips and bleeps while mystical waves of chord melody envelope your senses in a foggy haze.

The second half of the EP flips the script beautiful with two broken beat tracks that show they have a real prowess for melody as well as rhythm. Lost In Sequence's thumping kicks are punctuated by the rolling tribal percussive elements and looming, sorrowful pads. Intricate rhythms and beautiful use of reverb and other FX create a dreamy atmosphere throughout. Partisan sees a morphing, resonant synth motif pulse over another pleasingly thick kick rhythm, and swirling, ethereal layers of atmosphere. All in all it's a superb release that has something for the dancefloor as well as the home stereo.

Japanese artist Kosei Fukuda is back with his new series from his own platform. compilation of tracks with different approach towards experimental field in texture of sounds and beats.

Some five years after re-launching his Crayon label via a fine EP of vintage "Tracks From The Vault", original 1990s tech-house producer Mark Ambrose serves up more gems from his bulging archives. The quality threshold remains dizzyingly high throughout. Check first "Nightshift (Deeper Mix)", where gentle, alien synth lines and deep space chords tumble down over a heavy analogue bassline and locked-in beats, before turning your attention to the slamming techno beats, looped electronics and mind-mangling TB-303 motifs of "Dusty Acid". Also impressive is "Space Animals", a deliciously dubbed-out affair rich in sub bass and drifting, deep space chords.

Techno partisan #1 Sev Dah comes back with another trio of trademark no-nonsense techno tools. 1999 takes you back to 1998 with its subtly funky, bleepy groove, the kind of track that will just always work. Rumble adds a playful touch with its ever changing patterns, and Numbers rounds out the EP with yet another powerful tool, aided by a hypnotic vocal loop.

With 25 years of mercurial electronics under his belt, it's a joy to welcome Edinburgh's Dave Paton for Dream Ticket's fourth release. This is a clear-cut case of big things coming in small packages: on the A, both slices of elegant pressure level up mid-track into their evolved forms; while on the B, Miami bass and Texan electro continually mutate into ever more extravagant versions of themselves. 2-for-1 never sounded so expensive.

"I and Donato always send each others the tracks we make and exchange feedbacks on what we do, but when He sent me this music for the first time for me it's been love at first listen in a way i had never experienced before with his music. i wasn't even thinking i would be the one to release it back then...i just totally fell in love with these tracks when i heard them and was overly excited to the idea of playing them out, that's it. The funny thing is that till now i have been the only one on this planet to play them, Donato himself hasn't played out any and i was reporting to him on a regular basis and almost in real time the reactions of the people on the dancefloor when i would drop Cleo as last track on my sets and on how people would fall in a state of total ecstasy (not the drug, but the state of mind) while listening and dancing to it...i would tell him: "Donato...i don't think you quite realise what you have done...this stuff is just something else, it's beyond...the people are just melting when i play it!". So these tracks have grown in me in a very personal and deep way, and despite the fact that they are of course made 100% by Donato i almost developed a sense of emotional ownership towards this music, not in a way that i claimed the right to release them...(i have actually never asked him to give them to me) but in a way that i was feeling these tracks so much, that my love for them almost became an extension of the tracks themselves...and i think at some stage he felt this himself and one day this summer after that, again, for maybe the 20th time, i told him how amazing it was when i played them in my last set at the time he just told me "I think it is right that you release them, Marco. they are for you, they belong to you"...so as far as i'm concerned these will always be forever my very own Dozzy tracks, and it's a real honor and and a landmark for me and for my label to be able to release this record." 'SHRR02' is a 2-track compilation EP consistanting of music released by Ronan O Ciosoig on One Louder Recordings between 2001 - 2002. A peculiar and short-lived Irish label, One Louder recordings only released two records, both of qhich are now highly sought after and practically begging to be repressed. Remastered for both a vinyl and digital 2019 release, we hope to make this music accessible again.

Kenny Gino and Big Mike a.k.a. the Solid Gold Playaz both started playing records in the late 70's/early 80's. They both seemed to have a unique ability to program music to move the crowds that would come to the "red light" basement parties in their neighborhoods, and would later play some of the same clubs in the Milwaukee area, as well as doing similar radio shows at the same college. Having family from Chicago, who were DJ's and down with some of the big guys at the time, "heavily influenced our music and production styles" both say. "Living so close to the city, we could go down to all the legendary night spots. The Rainbow and the Warehouse, the Box, the Shelter... places where you could just feel the vibe."

Wata Igarashi and Voiski join forces to present their new collaborative project, WAV. Voiski who brings synth heavy perfection to techno and Wata Igarashi known for his stylishly reduced, immersive melodies and futuristic grooves, collaborate for the first time on Delsin Records. The result is a late night affair with atmospheric pads that get you in a trance. Peak-time electronics and floating grooves traveling through the cosmos on knife sharp rhythms. Across four tracks you can hear clear elements of both Igarashi's and Voiski's solo productions, without sounding like anything either has done before.

Appearing on the latest Mnemosyne compilation, Hierarchy marks his debut EP on ASG providing a deep journey into rhythms and textures. Direct but still elusive, Matter/Space/Void delivers lapses of rarefied absence constantly driven by peculiar cadences. The pulsating and fragmented remix by label owner A Sacred Geometry showcases once again his diverse view of techno, constantly evolving into unexpected horizons.

Epic link-up between two of the top live techno and house performers working today. After playing a few rare sessions with Juju & Jordash at Dekmantel Festival 2018 and Pittsbugh, Shawn Rudiman and Jordan GCZ spent a few days in Amsterdam laying the foundations for this collection of music. The tracks were transported to the Synthdrome in Pittsburgh and completed with love and craftsmanship. Spanning the gamut of electro, house, dub techno, and future jazz there is something for everyone. Enjoy this rare convergence of the creative energy of two masters.

A term for listening to sounds within the body as a method of diagnosis is a poignantly perfect moniker for Portland producer Joel Shanahan’s most elusive and emotive electronic aura-reading solo alias: Auscultation. III arrives a full four years after its SILK predecessor, L’étreinte Imaginaire, delayed by tragedies too expansive to enumerate.

Throughout, these shadowy psychic rhythms percolated at the periphery, as both escape and exorcism. The songs share a smeared mood of longing and lament, foggy melodies gliding through low-lit spaces, dissipated dance floor ether spiraling like smoke under a streetlight. It’s a music of faces in the night and things unsaid, swaying at the threshold. What could have been and what will always be.

Myles Sergé returns to Calder City Development Corp. with his 3rd installment under his pseudonym "Translate" to bring forth Translucent Techniques Vol. l.
This 3 track EP continues to build from the Techfunk" foundation of the previous Translate" releases on FEROX and Calder City Development Corp. With deep experimentation the void between techno and house just seems to become a blur, something Mr. Myles Sergé does best.

Detailed, smart, commanding, groovy. These are just a few words to describe the Assorted Pieces 2 compilation. This strictly in-house production by Friendship & Decadence contains tracks from such producers as Kade, Mirage Man, Poly Sone and Waltteri. Which is a intriguing mixture indeed.

Poly Sone’s “Home killing is taping music” is a rugged and fast paced take on nordic techno. As the track was recorded on a four track cassette recorder the saturation on this cut is immense, yet pleasant. Definitely not your everyday cheapo lo-fi tune.

Deep, quirky and playful bottom heavy roller, “Calm” by Waltteri has a hint of spanish roast in its blend. Waltteri’s debut on the imprint can be perfectly paired with a fun loving crowd during midnight or even around early mornings. Psychedelic multipurpose tool.

Kade’s raw and unconventional track “Sanko” is a treat for the adventurous mind. Haunting arpeggios and vocal chops will give you the creeps, while the unrefined saturated rhythms will sooth you into a trance. Eccentric and hypnotic dance music.

“This track never starts” by Mirage Man lives by its name as it is a slowly unraveling and cinematic number. Regardless of its thick lower end, in the club environment this track might send the restless to acquire a beverage from the bar, but for the grounded minds who enjoy ambient this just might be the ticket. Play it yourself and see what happens.

The second vinyl release on Manjumasi comes from intriguing Swedish producer Karl David Ola Sabel, aka Birds ov Paradise. A master of darkly shining brilliance, his work is at once deep and murky, yet textured and detailed.

The A-side, Köpp, is an insistent and slowly building journey. Shimmering metallic synth tones float over a staccato bassline that develops powerful energy throughout the track’s crescendo.
On the B side are two very complementary selections. Bosse kicks off with a hard-hitting broken-beat groove that is punctuated by potent bass hits. Up top, space is created by a wafting layer of haunting and ethereal atmospherics. Next up is Gubben, with some of the darkest sounds on the EP set amidst an energy that manages to simultaneously feel both sinister and playful. Bondage Music reveals the latest installment in its 'Bondage Games' series this March as Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales deliver four original compositions for Part 5.
Launched in 2008, German imprint Bondage Music has established itself as quintessential imprint for many within the world of stripped back, high quality house music, releasing material from the likes of Mihai Popoviciu, NTFO, Markus Homm and Tuccillo across the past 12 months alone. Their 'Bondage Games' series has also become a key fixture in the calendar, and here we see the label follow up their 2018 instalment with another vinyl only EP this March, with four fresh productions from Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales.
Frankfurt's Sascha Dive opens the package with 'Dark Night', a slick house cut guided by deep, dubby chords and entrancing vocals, before Frink's bubbling 'Vega' ups the energy and welcomes bright melodies amongst rolling percussion. Next, emerging talent Toman fuses skipping hats and a heady low-end groove as he reveals 'Time To Time', before Philipp Gonzales combines hypnotic lead synths, refined percussion arrangements and suspenseful builds throughout 'Open Hips'.
