A3
Jochen Heym is also featured twice on it. After his ep "Sononaut" this time he brings a mellow braindance electro tune: Floating Soul

B1
In Addition B1 contains a remix of the cling clang ambient tune of the Stonedwave005 => Chip Tronic transforms the ambient piece into a hectical electro tune.

B2
B2 is the final tune. Chip Tronic - Frequency modulated metallic wide hypnotic screaming leads are being carved into the listeners brain while being distrted and modulated by any means available. The number 18 implies => dark techno rhythms for wonky minds who love it more distorted.

Wetware - Automatic Drawing

Wetware

Automatic Drawing

12inchDAIS109LP
Dais Records
23.03.2018

New York City has had a long history of dance music fused with confrontational performance. Whether it came from within the late 70's No Wave canon projected through venues like the Mudd Club or the downtown avant-garde galleries such as The Kitchen, the feeling that influences and infects Brooklyn-based duo Wetware's overall being as a cohesive and confrontational unit is as much enigmatic as it is familiar. Formed in 2015, Wetware eased into its performative role with their live shows around their home base of Brooklyn, NY.

Vocalist Roxy Farman, who's familiar voice was last seen on Drew McDowall's 'Unnatural Channel' album, stole audience's attention from the moment they started, using her body in tandem with her voice as a weaponised vehicle for the band's anxiety filled performance. Matthew Morandi cut his teeth in the electronic music world through his solo tech-industrial project Jahiliyya Fields and partner to Inhalants, the techno collaboration of Morandi and Max Ravitz (Patricia). The synergy that developed between Farman and Morandi has been explosive. Wetware's live antics and behaviour has caused alarm and envy amongst their local audiences, causing Wetware the group to 'not be missed' on any particular bill that they are allowed to take part in.

Wetware stepped out from their live persona and self-recorded a selection of songs that viewers had grown accustomed to and were debuted on the flawlessly curated Primitive Languages imprint. Shortly following their recorded premier was an EP collection of demo recordings on the much praised Bank NYC label. Once the band reconciled with documenting their work, they set out, with the help of engineer Kris Lapke (Alberich / Hospital Productions) to formalise their most recent output in the context of their first full length album entitled 'Automatic Drawing'.

Given Wetware's penchant for endurance, as displayed by their 3 hour long production at Koenig & Clinton Gallery in the Summer of 2017, one would expect the usual restlessness on Wetware's debut full length. All of the apprehension and unease in Wetware seems to have been channeled into a string of cohesive electronic statements found on songs 'Frequent Dreamlands' and 'Ode to Joe'. Industrial dance rhythms bounce around Farman's poetic stance on 'Where Ever You Were', causing flashbacks of an early 80's dystopia that jumps around a confusing, uncomfortable backdrop. Inter-spliced with modular electronic instrumentals like the album's opener 'Pantomime', Wetware's devastating portrait is that of a society in peril.

Hypnoskull - ffwd>burnout! selected. remastered. remixed. 1999 files

Repitch Recordings' new release is one of a kind. Attesting to the greatness of Belgian industrial techno pioneer Hypnoskull's album 'ffwd>burnout', the label has compiled a fresh selection from the 1999 milestone and now pressed it for the first time on vinyl. The aim is to introduce its grinding breakbeats, its blasting hyperbolic groove, and ferocious disturbance to a new generation, championing an undying enthusiasm for heavy and deconstructed club sounds. Moreover, the EP comes with an exclusive remix by Birmingham Master Surgeon, whose own militancy in hard-edged techno has contributed to his legendary status, reuniting a different yet somewhat similar vision of dancefloor experimentation. It also includes an updated version of Hypnoskull's manifesto, renewing his methods of cultural resistance.

Ryuji Takeuchi - Outbound To Inner Self Ep

Inner Surface Music are proud to present our new release from Ryuji Takeuchi.

Ryuji is one of Japan's true underground figures pushing techno, industrial and experimental sounds alongside the likes of Go Hiyama, Tomohiko Sagae and Takaaki Itoh since the 2000's.

'Sort Out' opens the EP with powerful distorted Kick drums and percussion opening and teasing you into their path. High-end bell patterns and Arps twist and crescendo for zenith effects on the dancefloor.

'Inestimable Variables' has a playful and looser structure, claps and hi hats fizzle and resonate around the cavernous low end and kick drum pressure. Acid melodies fill the dynamics and tension, while remaining subtle but encapsulating.

'Inalterable Axis' opens with distorted noise and menacing broken distorted kick drum patterns. This track is more stripped back in nature but refrains from losing any power for the dance floor. Sequenced synth patterns rise from the bass frequencies, leaving you in a stratospheric mood.

´Final Call´ closes the EP with a sense of menace. The synth line has a demonic feel as it keeps moulding itself into your head with the jacking Chicago intensity of the drums. This is a cosmic journey through classic techno with modern sensibility, and showcases the sound of truly underestimated producer.

Shrouds - Novus Ordo Seclorum Ep

After a more than well-received first release, Black Carpet returns with 4 fresh industrial tinged techno behemoths.

The Amsterdam centred producer Shrouds has been given the honours to do so, with Zhark veteran HUREN on remix duty.

A1: Starts of firing on all cylinders and does not stop doing so. Stomping four-to- the-floor on some serious up-tempo business. Ghostly sounds dominate the breaks, only for a short-lived period, continuing relentlessly with stomping kicks to warrant you a safe but not so sound journey home.

A2: An off-beat Industrial monster, for the dankest of warehouses. Eerie voices and squelching synths at a bonafide break-neck tempo.

B1: Heavily robotized techno with an Industrial swank for those sweaty 5-AM sessions, dancefloor destruction clearly is at mind here. After the second break, vocals intensify and so does all the other mayhem. An absolute monster on the loose.

B2: HUREN showing the more "subtle" aquatic one of the pack. A slow heavy burner, with the dreadest of bass. Something like an old-skool half-step lurcher meeting with a German industrialist over some coffee.

Talker - Battle Standards Remixes

After unanimous praise for Talker's "Battle Standards" and play from the likes of Ancient Methods, Headless Horseman, Sunil Sharpe, Mumdance, Shifted and many others, Standards & Practices returns with a powerful set of remixes from iconic UK techno artists Surgeon, Regis, and Broken English Club.

Anthony Child kicks off the proceedings with his first remix in a year, and it's one of his best to date. His version of "Battle Standard" takes the track in a radically different direction, building a hair-raising wall of sound culminating in an unforgettable melodic refrain-beautiful and brutal in classic Surgeon fashion. The A2 track is a special bonus: a Talker cut only previously available on a limited edition CD compilation. Entitled "My Favorite Color Is Gold", this is a dark and cinematic ambient take on "(Gold) Standard".

On the flip, Oliver Ho delivers a remix of DJ favorite "Snub Nose" under his Broken English Club alias. His overhaul is nothing short of remarkable - only retaining a segment of the original drum track, he adds a post-punk-esque vocal while a vicious, monotone bassline snarls underneath, sounding like it slithered off of a Big Black LP sometime around 1985. Regis closes the EP with his brilliant broken-beat take on "Battle Standard", stripping the original to its essentials for maximum dancefloor impact.

As with the label's previous EPs from Stave and Talker, this package features stunning full-color sleeve art from acclaimed graphic design studio Common Name, and a limited number are pressed on silver colored vinyl.

Various - 3x12" Leyla Various Salespack Incl. 1/2/3

LEYLAVA001:
Leyla's 'Parallels & Influences EP' brings together Mondkopf, Positive Centre, Codex Empire & Yuji Kondo for an assaulting 4 tracks of power infused and industrial strength techno.
Mondkopf starts things roling with militaristic snare rolls and off-kilter analog synthesis into a climatic fervor of dystopian scene-scaping. This then is followed upu energetically by the pounding pressure and liquid 303 squelches of Positive Centre's 'Rub'. Crushed out cymbals battle against booming sub bass as a foghorn call rides high above the tempestuous patterns.
Codex Empire's 'Hessdalen' is as slick and detailed as it is ruff and raw. Huge sweeping backgrounds with intense high end percussion lick over a stomping, staggered kick pattern. Yuji Kondo (one half of the excellent Steven Porter project with Katsunori Sawa) brings things to a close with 'Whip Blow'. Bringing his signature refusal for traditional percussion sources - this peaking track pits high level technicality against deeply hypnotic and brooding rhythm.
---
LEYLAVA002:
Amsterdam based Leyla records presents part two of it's various artists compilation, this time bringing together a host of international artists, as well as a contribution from label boss Chafik Chennouf.

The four tracker commences with Insufferable People from label regular Manni Dee. Following his spectacular EP on Perc Trax, Dee delivers a dancefloor roller containing punctilious sound design integral to his work, with vocals from the artist superimposed over crunchy drums, riding the waves of submerged synths.

Track two from France's Von Grall offers a similar treat for DJs, this time with more introspective elements working in harmony with with propulsive polyrhythms. As the track creeps forward the revelation of drones and synth lines further involves the listener and contributes to a musical landscape populated by rhythmically independent segments, coalescing to form a cogent whole.

Head honcho Chafik Chennouf injects light in to the darkness on the B1 with Kosmai, redolent of EBM style funk rhythms. The stolid arpeggios function as the foundation for percussive interplay which propel the track in to new territory as it progresses. The 90s rave influence becomes apparent as the automations mould and shape the multidimensional lead.

The closer, Useless Landscape, from Japan's Katsunori Sawa immediately immerses the listener as the concrete groove is quickly overtaken by field recordings and a unique tonality emerging through layered drones and warped artefacts. Reminiscent of his work with Yuji Kondo as Steven Porter, the track unveils an intimacy through detail, while maintaing distance through evolving layers of sound creating mystery and magic.

The Sprawl (logos, Mumdance & Shapednoise) - Ep2

William Gibson's prophetic sci-fi novel Neuromancer inspires Mumdance, Logos and Shapednoise to sensational new heights on their 2nd EP in The Sprawl trilogy for The Death of Rave. The trio's EP2 is all about 'Data Flow', or the relay of information between software, hardware and its human agents, triangulating The Sprawl as biologic semiconductors in a quantum network of emerging AI consciousness, parsing their corrupted memory flashbacks of physical ecstasy, excess and synaptic muscle memory into premonitory visions of future hardcore rave.
Arriving at the project's midway point, equidistant to futures past and the singularity, the trio's 2nd cybernetic merger generates pivotal plot twists and an expanded palette of styles in flux between virulent mutations of noise torque, hardcore techno and sci-fi cinematic memes.
Across its four tracks, each producer's recognisable characteristics are strategically subsumed, consolidated to an inseparable, if fractious, energy that describes and manifests the themes and energies of William Gibson's prescient cyberpunk fiction in hyperstitious form.
The A-side picks up directly from EP1 with the synaesthetically-enhanced sensations of Burning Chrome, titled in reference to one of Gibson's first short stories set in the fictional dimension of The Sprawl - the first to coin the word 'cyberspace' - with a turbulent roil of bruxist shockwaves unpredictably punctuated by lush pads, before the cyberpunk terror of Black I.C.E. hacks into the nervous system with visceral, arrhythmic dynamic.
On the B-side, the story really shifts up a gear or five with X System, a breathlessly brutal 150bpm techno assault that sounds like late '90s Dutch rave or NYC bunker techno dialled in via faulty ISDN connection, which makes for a steep contrast with the shocking emotive pathos of the EP closer Online Seance, where the trio fulminate a transcendent vision of cinematic synth noise redolent of Leyland Kirby's Intrigue & Stuff series, but with a vicious digital edge and serontonin-frying euphoria of their own imagineering.
This is the sound of The Sprawl really coming into their own as a thrilling, innovative, and boundary-probing prospect within the noise techno nexus.

Prurient - Rainbow Mirror

Prurient

Rainbow Mirror

7x12"-VinylHOS-597
Hospital Production
23.01.2018

Marking 20 years of Prurient and Hospital Productions' concurrent paths, the epic 3 hr 20 minutes of Rainbow Mirror inarguably ranks among Prurient's most compelling statements. While still the blood child of Dominick Fernow, the album's massive scope demanded more hands on board, with Jim Mroz (Lussuria) and Matt Folden (Dual Action) lending their expertise before post-production by Shifted and mastering by Paul Corley cemented this towering work of Doom Electronics for the ages.

Offered up as 'a portrait in perpetual tension', and housed in cover art created as the first collage in the pre-recording era of Prurient, Rainbow Mirror draws on the project's roots in order to locate itself in the modern day. What it finds in the process is that little has changed since Prurient and Hospital Productions' conception in '97 - the world is still a torrid, evil mess beyond control, and one that needs notions like Prurient to try and define its heaving mass more than ever.

Like Frozen Niagara Falls before it, echoes of the old world riddle the long, stark corridors of Rainbow Mirror, too. But here those echoes are more fragmented, distant and entropically obfuscated, emulating the effect of trying to find your own image in a hall of mirrors, or locating yourself drowning amid the clamour of more than 3 billion other people online, all saying the same, mundane shit at the same time.

With a length and intensity proportionately reflective of the world's increasing socio-political tension and rate of homogeneity, Rainbow Mirror holds firm as a space to immolate the senses in preparation for the ever nearing eschaton.

Stavrogin - Collectors

Finally here we are with the fourth release on Last Drop Records, signed by the london-based Stavrogin. 'Collectors' takes a more subdued approach from his debut on Australian label 3BS, focusing on ampdriven ambient textures and digital experimentation. 'Sixty Acres' is a juddering mass of static textures and penetrative low-end, forcing itself to a crumbled close. Title track 'Collectors' is something like the afterglow. Weary and destitute, the track stumbles through heatwave-soaked atmospheres, fragmented voices stuttering like a malfunctioning android. 'Are These Actual Miles' is perhaps the most direct, with its tremors of noise punctuated by a rhythmic pulse. This is a feature Italian duo Ichinen have capitalised on in their closing remix, reducing the track to a warbling, dead-eyed drum workout.

Ryuji Takeuchi - Renaissance Artistique Ep

Welcome to the long awaited 5th vinyl output of HueHelix. This time, we focus on Ryuji Takeuchi, who brings 4 versatile 'factors' to complete the 'Renaissance Artistique' EP. Factor A is no doubt the most straight techno style banger, which Ryuji himself has been dropping in a peaktime of his every set at gigs in Berlin, Rotterdam, Osaka and more, that always takes audience to another place. Factor B shows a strong influence from EBM, noise, industrial music, which can be a starter of a set, with mad and strong break before its peaktime. Factor C is for sure the strongest and hardest track in this EP, with high BPM with crazy acid synth melody. Factor D closes the EP with percussive and synthy aspects. This EP really indicates how Ryuji has evolved for his entire career and where he's heading to. Definitely the one not to miss. Please keep your eyes and ears open, HueHelix never stops.

Naturkunde Museum Ostkreuz - Tropicalyptic Excursions

The Death of Rave are gassed to present the 2nd vinyl release of roiling, computerised No Wave by
exciting pan-European duo, N.M.O. Under the mantra - As Strict As Possible - their 'Tropicalyptic
Excursions' combine militant snares and amorphous SuperCollider shapes in disciplined
dancefloor arrangements, p'raps best compared with a melted hybrid of Powell's cranky engines
and EVOL's mutant rave signals dosed with Low Jack swagger.
They're dead strange, semi-organic dance creatures, stripped to the bare essentials of shifty
rhythm and biting tone, bristling with a concentrated energy that belies their hypnotic, body-
scattering effect on the 'floor.
Without resorting to overly masculine tactics or conventional structures, they carve a path from
kinky, pendulous percussion and grinding globular bass squelch laced with computer gremlins in
the title track, to the bashy, percolated jag of 'Talkingabouttalking' with its metal-tearing build-up,
and over to the whooping industrial bounce of 'Zaragoza Variations', cut loud and clattering for the
B-side by Matt The Alchemist' Colton.
Like the duo's striking 'Nederlandse Maatschappij Ontwikkeling' 12' and 'Dominant Akkord'
cassette for Barcelona's Anòmia label, this 12' is a refreshing inversion and diversion of dancefloor
strictures - getting down with a wickedly raw, awkward and freaky rave flex. If you ever get
the chance, make sure to check their aerobic live shows for a radical take on contemporary live
electronic performance.

Maelstrom - Her Empty Eyes

Maelstrom

Her Empty Eyes

2x12inchRAAR006
RAAR
19.05.2017

RAAR is deeply proud to present the first full length album from label co- founder Maelstrom, entitled "Her Empty Eyes". Both an evolution of the producer's rich history and an intellectual departure from everything that has preceded it, "Her Empty Eyes" is a work that is uncanny, challenging and meditative.
Continuing upon the cross-media mission of RAAR, the LP is in fact the outline of a sonic novel. Maelstrom describes:
"As a kid I was a voracious reader. I used to live in stories. I used to go to sleep dreaming I'd wake up inside one of them. Sometimes I still do, and this album has been recorded inside one of these dreams.
During the last 12 months, my music started to become the soundtrack of an imaginary novel taking place between 1936 and 1939 in Spain.
The novel depicts the life of Marina, a news photographer covering the war during these 4 years, meeting John Dos Passos and Ernest Hemmingway at "Hotel Florida" in Madrid, Georges Orwell and Buenavaentura Durruti on the frontline, or anonymous volunteers of the International Brigades in Barcelona.

We follow her investigating the death of Jose Robles, a Spanish
intellectual who was allegedly killed by members of the soviet secret police lead by Alexander Orlov, also believed to be responsible for the torture and death of Andres Nin, leader of the POUM, during Barcelona's "May Days" of 1937.
While looking into the murder, Marina keeps on covering the war for international magazines, travelling with the Lincoln Brigade during the Battle Of Jarama or with Spanish civilians fleeing Malaga by the road as bombs fall and planes strafe the ground with machine-gun fire. The story ends with the exile of hundreds of thousands of Spanish refugees across the mountains and the French border in the winter of 1939, and with the death of Marina. The album's title refers to our heroine's untimely demise, and the evidence of what was captured in her empty eyes, burned forever into the film in her precious Leica.
This is not a metaphor nor an essay, this is the outline of a story. It's the listener's place to make sense of it. The context is a civil war. The characters are a photo-reporter, famous writers and anonymous heroes, and my music is its soundtrack."
Recording Process:
« My recording method has drastically changed since I started experimenting with Milton H. Erickson's self hypnosis techniques about a year ago. I went from overthinking every part of the recording process multiple times over, resulting in dozens of versions of each of my tracks, to a state where thinking wasn't part of the equation anymore. Self hypnosis is quite impossible to describe - more than anything, it's a way to fully exist in the present. After a few weeks of experimentation, it became possible for me to record tracks in one take, without feeling any urge to refine or rework them. I would switch on the studio, work on a sound palette, and then press play and record, every day ».
Rather than focusing on club bangers, Maelstrom depicts a future of techno that is intellectual, historical, spiritual and emotional.

M.e.s.h. - Hesaitix

Hesaitix

12inchPAN82LP
PAN RECORDS
07.12.2017

Further departing from both the cinematic abstraction of 'Piteous Gate' and the hectic drums of 'Damaged Merc', Berlin producer M.E.S.H's new full-length, 'Hesaitix', is marked by its hyper-ornamented rhythms and a sense of pensive, moonlit spaces.

The atmosphere has shifted, the radical deconstruction of previous releases has given way to subtler interventions, building new structures in strange territories. Shifting from the meditative to states of manic unease, Hesaitix is an unnerving injection into both the social space of club music and the interior space of digital audio fantasy.

How did I become so stupid

A sound can be both formless and over-rendered, like a boneless but fleshy hand from a life drawing class.

What agent could set these broken sounds in motion

A laugh behind an evil curtain. A drummer that's cool and grotesque, a detuned siren. A brushfire under a full moon.

Recorded in Berlin and Umbria, Hesaitix sees Janus resident and PAN staple M.E.S.H. firmly engaged in a kind of sonic world building, a place where the unconscious and the alien intersect.

Pharmakon - Contact

Pharmakon

Contact

12inchSBR175LP
Sacred Bones Records
15.12.2017

Bestial Burden, the previous album by Margaret Chardiet's Pharmakon project, focused on the disconnect between mind and body, looking at the human as an isolated consciousness stuck inside of a rotting vessel. For Contact, she wanted to look at the other side of the spectrum - the moments when our mind can come outside of and transcend our bodies. In trance states, music and the body are used to transcend the physical form and make contact with some outside force. Chardiet decided to structure the compositions of each side of Contact after the stages of trance: preparation, onset, climax, and resolution.

Various - Snow Robots Volume 4

Formed in 1997, and inaugurated that year with a split 12' from new-comers and label founders, Solvent and Lowfish, this year Suction Records celebrates it's 20th anniversary with the re-introduction of their famed Snow Robots series of compilations. While originally started as a North American answer to UK electronix labels like Rephlex, Skam and Warp Records, a sound that is still a staple of the current Suction Records catalog, Suction's sound has also swerved into new territories, reflecting our love of dark '80s electronic music - synthpop, EBM, and beyond.... Snow Robots Volume 4 features an international array of artists, from Suction Records mainstays like Digital Poodle, June, Celldöd, and Ceramic Hello (with their much sought-after 1982 vocoder anthem), to label-favourites appearing on Suction Records for the first time: Beau Wanzer, Morah, and one of Skanfrom/Sleeparchive's lesser known aliases, Civil Defence Programme.

Fuckhead - Dislocation
  • A1: Dislocation
  • A2: Neuron
  • A3: Dark
  • B1: Proximity
  • B2: Wormland
  • B3: Doom
