The Future

Mint Condition
13.02.2018

Mint Condition - A reissue label focussed on excavating the outer fringes of classic House and Techno. Unreleased mixes, classics and overlooked gems mined from the last 20+ of contemporary dance music are the order of the day. From Chicago, Detroit and New York to London and beyond, Mint Condition have got their expert digging hats on to bring you exclusive heat and those rarer than rare jams that have been on your wants list for years! Dig in....
If we told you that you'd be seeing the future back in 1996 would you have believed us Maybe not, but Armando may beg to differ, yes that Armando. Chicago's prodigal son (RIP) hooked up with one of Chicago's other prodigal sons - Cajmere - to drop this stellar piece of jacked-up, hi-tech, slamming house on the infamous Radikal Fear imprint ran by Felix Da Housecat. Yeah, that's a lot of legendary names right there, for sure. Sit back, take it in for a second, let it marinate. 'The future' is a banger, no doubt about it. Punishing kick drums, manic synth stabs and that creeping trademark Armando acid is all there, it doesn't let up. Driving in all the right ways it's a surefire weapon. Classic Chi-town sounds here, second wave style. Over on the b-side we are lucky to be treated to an exclusive, respectful re-edit of Cajmere's absolutely heavyweight remix of 'The future', again this one kicks hard in Curtis' unique style. We were granted access to our homie and long time freak, Chicago house aficionado and advocate Luke Solomon's private edit of this jam. To say that it works is an understatement, Luke knows what he's doing 100%, decades spent behind the mixing desk and turntables all over the world have made sure of that. Oh, by the way, be careful with that bassline on the remix, it's capable of bringing out the weird side of anyone exposed to it on the dancefloor.... in the best possible way, of course! Essential stuff here, for the heads for sure!
'The future' has been legitimately released with the full involvement of the rights holders for 2017 and remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original master sources especially for this release. 100% legit, licensed and released. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at Mint Condition!

Pills & Thrills EP

12inchTTXX0006
TEMPLE TRAXX
12.04.2019

4E used to be Khan’s apartment number in New York City’s East Village back in the late 90’s. 4E became the trademark sound for his downbeat acid infused electro work. On his kitchen floor he produced a very unique brand of futuristic funk tracks with only a ROLAND TB-303, SH-101 and the Hip-Hop fundamental SP1200 drum sampler.

Besides a couple of 12”s for Force Inc. Music and the “Gentle Killer E.P.” on Freddy Fresh’s Socket imprint, 4E released the highly acclaimed downbeat electro album “4E4ME4YOU” on German glitch label Mille Plateaux.

Back in 1998 4E shared the now legendary 12” with I-F “Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass” on the “From Beyond Series” by Ectomorph’s Interdimensional Transmissions.

“Pills & Thrills” on Temple Traxx is four previously unreleased acid-electro stomper that are as funky and noisy as it can get on an East Village kitchen floor.

Bizz O.D. “House Of Domination” is her second 4 track e.p. on Temple Traxx.
Bizz O.D.’s trademark ruff Chicago acid stomps are ear bleeding love songs to a hedonistic lifestyle she is celebrating to this day.
Unique live and DJ sets make her one of New York greatest Wild Pitch producers.
Using only Casio RZ-1, Roland TB303 & TR808 and the legendary Emulator SP1200 drum-sampler prove that inspiration is what matters and love is what counts. A bit of rubber and domination does never hurt though. Bizz is in the House!

Bizz O.D. & Jimi Tenor - Traffic EP

Jimi Tenor & Bizz O.D. met 1989 in a Helsinki club called Berlin. They decided to move to New York City in 1992 to start the band "Public Extacy" which never saw the light of day. A few years later, Jimi had already left NYC but was visiting so the two met to record "Bizz O.D. & Jimi Tenor's Traffic E.P.". Released in 1995 on OZON Records founded by nobody else but Jammin' Unit and Biochip C. Originally a 3 track e.p.but we at Temple Traxx thought that it was the right time to remaster and reissue this acid jewel and add an unreleased bonus track called "Girls" in this limited edited edition. This 4 track e.p. shows once more that the two artists are real inovators and pioneers of a sound that is hipper than ever in 2020.

Jammin' Unit - Remot Car Babe Ep

Khan presents: Jammin Unit - Remote Car Babe

Jammin' Unit is not only my brother but one of the most prolific producer of electronic music since the early days of techno. He is one half of legendary electronic super group Air Liquide and made his way into history books with tracks like 'If The Was No Gravity' and 'Revelation' lately featured on Nina Kraviz - Fabric 91 mix.

'Remore Car Babe' was originally released on clear 10' via Temple Records NYC in 1997 and is now remastered by the man himself for our 2018 ears. Re-issued on 12' black vinyl for more gain and better audio quality.

In his own words he describes the 4 track e.p. as: 'The sound was created for headphone listening during remote car racing. Enhancing the feel of speed and aggressiveness was the goal'.

To me it feels like a manga comic strip eched on vinyl. No headphone necessary to go on this speed racing trip of extacy and pounding bliss.
A re-issue I am especially proud of to hear on dance-floors around the globe.

'Don't eat before going to sleep but Do eat before going out!'

Yours sincerely,
Khan (Of Finland)

Massturbator - Massturbator E.P.

Massturbator was originally recorded 1995 in Bizz O.D.'s kitchen in Brooklyn, New York. This hardcore acid 12" went straight to number #1 of the CMJ techno charts back in the days and has not lost any of it's Acid-Punk power. The four tracks are somewhat of a blueprint for bands like Animal Collective's hyper-jazz or Sleaford Mods proto-punk. They mentioned Massturbator in interviews as an inspirational force. For most DJ's too fast, too hard, but thanks to modern technology you can always pitch down 30bpm to please some fat ass, old, Berghain crowd. Jack Off and hail mAssturbator!

Wild Style Lion & Kim Gordon - Lovewasinme Remixes

Wild Style Lion feat. Kim Gordon how the fuck did that happen

Or better ask: how did this young band end up on a record box-set called Psych Box with Hawkwind, MC5, Nico and Kim Fowley out on Cleopatra Records
And if that was not enough they toured Europe with Dinosaur Jr. in Beyoncé's custom made night-liner for a whole freakin' month.

So you would think these guys sit back and get their hard-disks sucked but instead they keep partying and drop ecstasy at Berghain where Khan used to host a monthly party called Smegma with DJ Nd Baumecker presenting bands like The Gossip, GusGus, Opal Bastards or even Lady Gaga.

Wild Style Lion is Philipp Virus and Khan Of Finland a hard working producer-duo from Berlin. Tallmen 785 responsible for the B-side remix who already reworked for the likes of Little Dragon or his good fella Scuba.
Wild Style Lion currently working on a transgender Hip Hop project with mc BIG T shooting to drop a 12' in fall 2018 and a new full length album in spring 2019.

Anything else I forget to mention

Yours sincerely,

'Insular Tone' is a great no-nonsense stomper.
If you're a fan of some older Djax up beats stuff, you'll need this too!
On the B-side, 'Derby' is pure emotion with the touch of roughness only James can add to tracks.

Various - Chicago Is Home Vol.2

It's coming home, it's coming home - house music is coming home! A second instalment of the Groove Access: series Chicago Is Home offers us five fresh tracks from the windy city landing in a glorious cavalcade of razor edged snares and hypnotic jack house. Ed Nine & Kid Enigma's 'Bandleaders' opens side one in spectacular fashion with spoken mantras lying deep in the mix, distinctive phasing arpeggios, poking keyboard riffs and ringing cymbals. JSquare's 'Get Wicked' kicks with even more power, tribal rhythms bouncing of bleepy melodies, before 'Move' by Geto Mark rounds off the side with the strutting, beautifully brutal 'Move', a proper 3AM peak time pleaser. Steve Noah's 'The Hater' opens side two, a wily acid line worming its way across a raw, stripped down backing before exploding into serious gnarliness when you least expect it. AFTR's 'Undercover' rounds things off with another knuckle duster of a tune, leaving no doubt that Chicago is still the place to be when it comes to house.

Billy Nightmare - Reality Check EP

Digging deep into the Chicago Rave vaults to re-issue the debut EP from Billy Nightmare aka 'Mystic Bill' Torres. Growing up in Miami, Bill was involved in various parts of the music industry, from working at Flamingo Record Pool, to playing guitar for the band Life In Sodom (80's Synth/Goth band). His interest in both House & Industrial music inspired him to make his move to the Windy City. Bill quickly became involved in the night scene with residencies at clubs like Shelter, Crobar, & Smart Bar. His studio work began with a remix of Kay Ladrae's 'Lack Of Love' with Vince Lawrence, followed by a string of releases, including an LP on Trax Records. He has recently relaunched two record labels and several releases and remixes out each year.

'Reality Check' was released in 1996 on Woody McBride's label Sounds. Originally the project was to be titled " Billy's Nightmare", but to avoid being jinxed for life, Torres decided to switch it to Billy Nightmare. He put the Mystic Bill alias aside, got a hair cut, changed his sound and became this new persona. 'Reality Check' consists of 4 tracks, recorded at Mirage Studios in Chicago in 1996. Two tracks on the A-side are dark thumpers and will haunt your head for days. Side B has 2 versions of the same song, lighter and funkier in mood both show the diversity Mystic Bill is capable of producing.

All songs have been remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. Each EP is housed in a custom designed jacket by Eloise Leigh featuring a 90s photo of Billy Nightmare staring into TV static and includes a postcard with notes.

Filthy Rich - Captain Tom’s Scratchy Rascal

Zimp Recordings is an independent techno label based in Edinburgh, Scotland run by Filthy Rich.

The label is out to prove that techno doesn't have to be boring any more, why be so serious? Can't we have a bit of fun on the dance floor with our crunchy beats?

At Zimp Recordings they strive to release bangin’ techno to turn the gurns to grins, pounding, but light hearted, where they seriously don't take themselves too seriously. They take their inspiration from the quirky beats of Sativae Recordings and Don't with the driving quality of Hybrid and Primate Recordings. They aim to bring you the best in weapons grade dance floor bangers while representing the Scottish club culture that nurtured them.

This is the 2nd release on Zimp Recordings, an independent techno label based in Scotland.

Edinburgh based DJ and producer Filthy Rich, label boss at Zimp Recordings, is a deliciously slippery artist with an engorged techno sack who’s always at the ready to spurt his computer generated juicy tit bits all over your proverbial techno flaps.

After the runaway success of Filthy Rich’s digital only ‘Gallus Phallus’ EP on Zimp Recordings in December 2020 and various appearances on RIOT Radio Records ‘with his own music and remixing ‘RIOT’ by The Horrorist, he’s excitedly proud to announce a second release on his fresh new label, now also on vinyl 12” due to much online demand and requests.

There’s four bass driven track on this slammin’ EP that punches and kicks in every part of its tough facade. You can easily hear Chicago, Detroit, electro and funk influences through-out with tight pounding kicks, funky basslines, retro-synths, vinyl scratching and a mangled Alan Ginsberg poem can even be heard overdubbed along the way. In essence, any dance floor will be given the spark of life once this super deluxe bespoke, 2021’s Faberge egg of techno, luxury item hits them bass bins.

In just a year, he has released three releases, including the "Matrix Computer Poetry" EP on the German Twig, "A Man's Hurt" EP on the Lumbago from Lyon and "P" on the British Cartulis Music.

Komponente and Kurilo were preparing their debut live and were in search of a new sound, so the record has absorbed many elements from different genres.

A and B sides are completely different, but they are one in the atmospheric flow. Each track has its own idea and purpose for the dance floor, it's up to you to choose. The artwork for the release was created by the designer Dima Phase.

Dircsen / Scott Hallam - Reflection 002

Mark Archer

A1 is a deadly downtempo number with distant clinks providing the melody underpinning, accompanied by some beautifully dreamy pads and wobbly 303 line, absolute eyes closed head nodded. A2 continues on the downtempo vibe but with a more electro style, slowly rising drippy acid and spacey vocal effects, despite the tempo it’s proper screw-face material.

B1 is another laid back groove with ethereal pads and sparse, crisp drums. Another track on this twelve that you can completely lose yourself in. B2 rounds up the release in a completely no nonsense, head down hi-res(sonance) 303 and 909 box-clash.

Damo B

Take a second glance into the mirror for another reflection of yesterday.

Dircsen hits you with 'Mono Operator' with its subtle acid switch ups and haunting melodies coupled with the bounciest of beats and thunderous claps ensues 303 nirvana. Heartfelt.
Scott Hallam offers up the stretchy acid meets dub reggae meets hip hop influenced 'Saturday night drop' Low slung, wigged out Sabresque acidic goodness.

'Slow float' With its groove building capabilities and intricate beat work married with an acid line that unfurls and caresses the mind, body and soul. Winner winner, acid for dinner. Biblical!
Next up totally going for the jugular in a +8 Hawtin kinda style is 'Distorted Reality' 3 am dance floor/club night decimation from this brutally lovely 303 jam. Banger!

Placid

Four tracks of 303 laced Machine funk. Made with soul. Absolutely essential. That aside. That’s really nice Scott. All 4 should keep the acid enthusiasts happy.

Derek Carr

Dircsen - Mono Operator and your Distorted Reality tracks are the pick here - Mono Operator has that deep underlying dirty funk but the Detroit soul, a beautiful combination.
Distorted Reality is like getting hit by a steamroller driven by an acid smiley face.
Wonderful EP.

Al Bradley

That EP is ridiculous haha! Outstanding!
"After being hugely honoured to offer up some acid-house-infused cuts for ROY 001, label boss Scott Hallam brings in the ace Dircsen for four more acid workouts & fuck me, do the two artists deliver! Taking what was introduced on 001 & upping the squelch ante, the flow of acid on these tracks is phenomenal. Ranging from slo-mo deepness, to full-on headfuckery twistedness, this is, to put it mildly, an absolute killer of a release."

Pearl River Sound - Train With No Name

Repress

Channeling that classic playful braindance feel of early AFX, U-Ziq and fellow acid-connoissuer Luke Vibert, Pearl River Sound (real name Roberto Semeraro) has quietly builded up his own profile in the last 5 years with releases on R&S Records's own Meda Fury, Further Records, Seagrave and X-Kalay. Not another average idm/breakbeat throwback tough: here PRS delivers 'Train With No Name', a 6-tracker of razor-like rephlexian science, taking inspiration from his ambivalent work with laptop & old hardware machines; yet, the magic lays down in arrangements and spaces, builded around jacking bassline swings and detuned, lush pads all melted together in powerful u-turn rhythms and genius sampling, from the moody opener 'Elek41' to the demented vocals of 'Cccc2' and 'Mr Continue' or the straight-up acid of 'Mono Sequencer Bass'. Occasional walls of white noise and distorted tones emerge in 'Train 2', possibly his most tense track ever but also one that reveals new sonic solutions for a forthcoming full length that should see the light anytime next year on the label. Sharing the same sensibility of fellow Roman institutions like Lory D or Leo Anibaldi to keep the acid legacy of the city alive, Mixed Up is proud to start a new beginning with this release. Full sleeved and cut at 45.

Truncate & Chambray X Biri - Figure Jams 006

Jamming things up once more, we?re pairing Chambray with long-time Figure-affiliate Truncate for a pair of exciting floor-killers, then go out with some fresh take on techno by Biri.

No Stress is exactly the reminder needed when letting things fling in all directions with this unpredictable, spiralling power work-out. Trax 4 The Club pays hommagge to the its heritage, but shoots way beyond the treaden template. Tongue-in-cheek and swinging widely, this one hits far more carefully than expected, yet all the more satisfying when it does!

On the flip it?s Biri deploying his rigid style of layering sounds which he makes seem fluid and lively, never changing things up too soon or too late. By such his drive along the meticulously shaped arps on Snox101 stays a constant thriller, while Through The Fields becomes an ambient-leaning excursion through time and space, opening up the body and mind.

Marking the first release on DJ MELL G's Juicy Gang Records label, the legendary DJ Godfather joins forces with an artist who has continuously shone throughout the dark days of 2020 and beyond -- DJ MELL G herself. Echoing the pair's bouncy aesthetic and love for freakish electro and ghettotech, the Detroit legend and rising star from Hamburg have produced a 4-track EP called 'COPS CAN'T DANCE'. Combining the vibrant efforts of DJ Godfather and DJ MELL G with Detroit vocalist Parkhouse, 'WERK N' TWERK FEAT. PARKHOUSE' opens up the EP with pulsating aplomb.
