On 1972, veteran producer and live musician Tobias Freund offers up four tracks of layered and meticulously-crafted techno using his extensive archives of tape recordings collected since childhood.
Referencing a mix of profound political events in German history
and esoteric meditation guides, the Berghain resident's warm, detailed sound edges beyond the floor toward brain-tingling home listening and wanderlust autobahn escapism. The EP begins with the titles track’s buzzing synths panning rhythmically across the stereo field like a hypnotist’s pocket watch, while a somber, sampled string melody pushes further into cosmic territory before concluding with a bi-lingual eulogy. “Schism” soars with a never-ending snare roll and sparse kicks – an entire track floating on a break that never lands.
On “The Wisdom Of No Escape”, Freund combines soft,
polyrhythmic bleeps with esoteric vocal samples on an inward
path of hallucinogenic internal discovery. EP closer “Electric Storm” makes a turn for the ultrastoned, with hats and writhing vocals disintegrating and reforming over a soft, round steady pulse.
Overall, 1972 features a sound that Tobias. has honed for over 30 years, having initially made a name for himself mixing various pop hits in the 80s and 90s while simultaneously producing experimental electronics under various pseudonyms including Metazone, Phobia, Pink Elln, and Zoon. On his own Non Standard Productions imprint he has regularly collaborated with the likes of Max Loderbauer and Ricardo Villalobos and most recently with visual artist Valentina Berthelon as Recent Arts. His releases and lengthy live techno sets with AtomTM continue to set the bar high for improvised electronics.

Returning to Cadenza Records after two previous singles ('The Motorglider' EP and 'Precursors' EP), Eduardo De La Calle drops 'The Methodical Machines EP' this December on Luciano's imprint. Across two pieces of vinyl, and five tracks, Eduardo flexes his unique sound design of minimal and soulful grooves. Heavily indebted to the classic sounds of the Detroit techno visionaries, Eduardo has built up a solid reputation through his Analog Solutions label, and also through his film production career (check the electronic music documentary 'Beatz' for some insight here). A staunch supporter of all things analogue, Eduardo manages to tease out some highly emotive and melancholic music from the machines. The sci-fi vibes of opening 'Gajapati' build gradually over the brooding and spongy production, whilst 'The Namuci's Mistery' is soaked with pitch bending synths and rasping acidic stabs. Eduardo brings into play his jazz influences on 'Concierto De Aranjuez', floating some freestyle keys and wandering waveforms over a body popping beat whilst the sparse beats of 'The Demigod's Control' are brought to life with the stuttering electronics and rising pads, as ever filled with heaps of emotion and soul. Quickly becoming a key player in Luciano's Cadenza stable, Eduardo continues to produce unique and inspiring electronic music, a quality that the label always strives for, and can be found in abundance on 'The Methodical Machines'. Select DJ reactions Matt Tolfrey (Leftroom) - Some great tracks here, very trippy Osunlade (Yoruba) - Digging this vibe, very personal in sound and approach Eric Cloutier (Bunker NYC) - Another insanely good release from Eduardo Zak (DSV1) - Eduardo, always dope!

Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of UK dance music for over 3 decades. This is the roots of their story told through music.
The 2 London DJ's are part of the DNA of the global Jungle / D&B movement and they have remained relevant, cutting edge, authoritative and essential to this truly underground art-form since it's inception. RAGE could arguably be the ground zero of Jungle. The party was started at London's cavernous Heaven club by Fabio & Grooverider in 1988, at the height of Acid House fever that was making it's way up and down the motorways, slip-roads, fields and warehouses of the M25 and further beyond every weekend, troubling the nation, the police, your parents and the press as it went. RAGE was a different beast, it certainly channelled some of that Acid energy but pitted it against the new and exciting sounds emanating from Belgium, Amsterdam, Detroit, Sheffield, Essex and Hackney and in turn created a new style, a new sonic attitude and energy in the process. Rumbling bass-lines, narcotic synth rushes and roughly chopped and sped-up breakbeats all merged into a style that we now know as Jungle. Nothing like this had been heard before, this was a brand new style and it was coming out of London's West End and Fabio & Grooverider were the people firmly behind it.
RAGE is approaching it's 30th anniversary. It's sonic and cultural legacy is still being felt today, Fabio & Groove are still shutting down raves and festivals every weekend all over the world with their superior DJ sets and musical knowledge guided by their pioneering spirit. This musical selection you hold in your hands, the first of 4 parts, sees them delve into their prodigious memories and record boxes to select a true musical representation of the very beginning of one of the UK's most unique and influential musical movements of the last 50 years. Across 4 x 2 x 12"s compilations we are taken on the journey through the sounds of RAGE, accompanied with track by track notes from Fabio & Groove themselves. This is the sound of the underground, from the inside out.
This is a masterclass in the old-school. The roots. There is no filler here, it's simply ALL killer. Lovingly selected and programmed by the masters - 'The Living Shock' & 'The Ladies Choice'. Produced in conjunction with Above Board distribution and Fabio & Grooverider. All tracks mastered from original sources and fully licensed. Mastering by Optimum, Bristol. Artwork and design by Atelier Superplus. 2019

The return of the EXTERESTRIAL TIME TRAVELERS Aux88, has returned with an all new double LP, Counterparts. Unforgettable bass lines and vocals that make everyone run to the dance floor and ascend to the DJ booth for confirmation of, “who is this?” Side A - starts with the track “INTEL.” The string work and Kraftwerkian tone is evident with this gem. Aux88 takes it even further with a message to the electro haters, “You Don’t Want None of This!”
Side B - “Moon Walker” simply put...that Bass Line...wow! As only Aux88 and a few others can do it ... Detroit styled Parliament Funkadelic funky. Side C - gives homage to the Detroit jitters with the track “Pothole Paradise.” It’s fast funky and not for messing around. As Mike Banks said in the Aux88 documentary interview, “when DJ’s drop Aux88 shit, it’s time to dance and shake that ass!” Pothole Paradise is exactly that type of track....Detroit Proud.
The culmination of all original 4 members returning for a new flight from the Aux quadrant to invade the world. The Double LP gives you electro/techno funk from Detroit Legends Blak Tony, K-1, Posatronix & Tom Tom.

In the name of Embra, it's hot ... So I decided to venture deeper into the mountains. It didn't take long before I began noticing peculiar sounds. As I started in their direction I eventually stumbled upon a cavity, the opening crudely decorated with various metallic ornaments.
Inside stood nothing but a tall pedestal, on which rested another one of those weird artefacts. It had similar inscriptions to the one I found at Agip, which lead me to believe it was made by the same creature Mammo. I'm still completely in the dark about its purpose or intended message ...
... Hope, you enjoy.

Detroit native Ryan Elliott has made a handful of weighty contributions to both Berghain and Ostgut Ton, including his Rocksteady and Stepmode EPs as well as his Ostgut Ton 5-year anniversary mixtape and the label’s inaugural digital mix compilation, Panorama Bar 06. A resident DJ at Berghain / Panorama Bar since 2010, Elliott’s mixing is technical, confident and fast, stubbornly riding the border hard between house and techno, melody and rhythm, stayed and future classics. It’s also this DJ’s perspective that has informed Elliott’s own analogue productions, with Paul’s Horizon turning its focus toward deep and slick percussion. This is apparent from the get-go, with the title track’s triangle/clap interplay, funky 5-6 kicks per bar, and bleary-eyed atmosphere. From there “Martinsville Morning” slows down into an understated sunrise groover, led by bassline, strings and pads. EP closer “Grafton Road” turns up the pace again with gasps for hats, aggressive punctuating snares, and a modulating synth bubbling-up throughout. Paul’s Horizon – Ryan Elliott’s first EP in six years – falls musically between Berlin and Detroit, between house and techno and between hypnotic repetition and unpredictability, revealing a subtle ear for groove and composition.

They come from Livorno, Italy but these four young men seem to have landed from Detroit in the mid-90's. Raksasa is the debut ep of the Talkin' Robots who have been remixed by the dextrous brain of Jerome Sydenham who has once again shown immeasurable talent with Soul Research.
Analogic and definitely old school, is the sound of the original mix while Sydenham's mix is dark and refined: deep techno for all hours.

The next in ART’s classic Remaster series is another gem from the early Eevolute catalogue. Max404’s (Erwin van Moll) “Recycler” EP was originally released in 1992 during the heyday of European Techno meets Detroit influences.
The legendary Solid Bass DX100 preset sound dominates the opening track showing its Detroit influences from the off. Mamoulian brings the European EBM/synthwave sound to the fore whilst Hangover merges the Chicago/Detroit sounds in a funk bass led feast.
Fractal View was the big hit from the EP. A techno-breaks hybrid perfect for the raves of today and yesterday. The EP ends with the dark, heavy breakbeat Quiddity - a haunting track that ensures ths classic eclectic EP stays in the mind forever.
Never previously reissued in its full vinyl format and only previously available as an in-demand original with prices to match - the remaster meticulously brings the sound up to modern standards.

Fresh for 2018 the ever pioneering Octave One are bringing us some brand new music for the new year. Using their much loved Random Noise Generation alias the upcoming release entitled 'N2 The Enfinate, contains a new single as well as a remake of 'Rock my Soul' in the form of the 'Reborn Vocal Remix'.
The first Random Noise Generation release was 'Falling in Dub' in 1991 and sounding just as fresh 27 years later, 'Enfinite Soul EP' is due for release this April.
For this single a retro energy has been explored in the title track 'The EnFinate', running parallel to a more contemporary groove and rolling, marauding baseline. The second track on the package, 'Rock my Soul' (Reborn Vocal Remix) starts with a strong intent and a weighty bassline paving the way for precise and bright chord stabs.
The single is taken from the new album 'Endustry', a full body of work encompassing 7 full length cuts, set for release in spring.
After touring and making music for decades the spirit and essential energy of the craft is what keeps them eternally inspired to keep creating and touring the globe... 'Once it takes hold of you you can't stop even if you wanted to.' say the brothers.

DEMF and raves cultivated an interest in dance music that Pablo brought with him when he moved back to Chile in 2006. He began producing and DJing in underground clubs around Santiago. In 2016 Pablo returned to Detroit, purchased more gear and began producing a new body of work, all recorded straight to tape. The "Bad Hombre" EP is our selection of the fruits of his labor.

EPM are thrilled to announce their next release, which not only invites back Esteban Adame with a new track to follow his beautiful 'Day Labor' album but it's also backed by remixes from the legendary Juan Atkins and recent newcomers Tresillo.
Esteban's original version of 'Descendants' is a beauty, drawing on his LA meets Detroit background. Its deep bassline with flourishes of vibrant synth work deliver meaningful and emotional techno from this ICAN man and UR collaborator.
Tresillo first appeared on the scene in the summer of 2016 with their Sueno Latino-esque 'Contra Tiempo' white label gaining the support of DJs like Tony Humphries, Kevin Saunderson, Terry Farley and Steve Mac. Here they show another string to their bow this tracky Chicago-style remix.
Dominating the AA side is the mighty Juan Atkins who brings the heat with his unique remix. Pushing the 808 bass to its limits, adding an infectious break and using elements of the original in a staccato arrangement to twist and layer; it's a work of art in itself.

Following two sampler EPs in April and June this year, Vince Watson finally releases this double LP as last part of his 'DnA' album. A project focusing purely on Detroit Techno and House and what might be his biggest and best album to date. Released on his own Everysoul Audio label, Vince's 12th album has been years in the making and sees him go directly back to his Detroit roots. It was being requested to remake Rhythim Is Rhythim's 'Icon' and 'Kao-tic Harmony' by Derrick May himself in 2015 that greatly inspired Vince to begin writing new original Detroit material and was the catalyst for 'DnA's inception. The album is a dedication and reflection of the three waves of Detroit Techno that inspired a generation and countless electronic producers around the globe. Watson wanted to honor this in the music as closely as possible. Hints of Derrick May, Carl Craig, Mad Mike, Juan Atkins, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen and Dan Curtin can all be heard influencing across the album. Featuring a selection of sketchy hi-tech soul, lushest pads and string sequences, jazzy 909 hi-hat workouts, raw 808 electro and filtering Chez Damier styled house tracks all brought together with a succession of short variations and instrumental snippets from the albums best moments contribute to a vision of what the past thought the future should be. Not only is 'DnA' suggestive of some kind of mysterious gene required to create such music, but it also represents Detroit (a city where Vince grew his musical inspirations from) and Amsterdam (the city where his musical inspirations are now created). Watson's association with Detroit Techno runs deep with some of its original innovators. Not many artists outside of Motor City can say they have had five releases on Planet E, Transmat and 430West while he has also remixed Carl Craig, Derrick May and Octave One. With this in mind, 'DnA' suddenly feels like a natural (re)evolution. 'DnA' will be released across four records of vinyl as well as Digital. This wax version of the album sees the remaining 8 tracks from the project that were not featured on the vinyl EP sampler's earlier this year. The digital version of the album comes in its original intended running order as a complete package and is only available as an 18 track full-length album featuring some exclusive tracks not available elsewhere.

Never underestimate the power of a good bassline. Mark du Mosch certainly doesn't. This veteran from the harbor city of Rotterdam let's his vicious bass line creep up on you from behind on 202 AC Ra. A dark and jacking club belter with clear Chicago roots. The five track EP The Heavens may be his debut on SoHaSo, Du Mosch has been releasing music for over fourteen years on a variety of respected underground labels, such as Moustache, Dekmantel and Royal Oak. His versatile style draws on sounds that evoke strong mental imagery and a sense of eternity, which clearly shows on the introspective Resonance Delay (She) on the B-side. In which a melancholic melody is supported by muffled slow motion beats. The beautiful artwork on The Heavens EP is by Joost Stokhof, an Amsterdam based graphic designer who is known for his love for detail. Which makes him perfectly suited for Du Mosch' subtle and well crafted dance tunes. In a normal world you would open your EP with the title track. Du Mosch chooses to close with it. The Heavens stays true to it's name. A harp like melody that washes ashore as foam from a greyblue Northsea that calmed down after the storm. Heaven indeed.

The first Planet Tapes EP is ready to go. It will be a V/A composed of 5 tracks, obviously different from each other but we think they have something in common. Bored in a Cosmic Network is the mirror of what reflects us and above all of what we believe can
remain imprinted in the listener’s mind Let's move on to presentations:
A1 written by the Belgian, Gravitational Effect. A real electro lover who uses sounds which seem to come directly from the lovely 80's.
A2 created by two of the Italian co-founders of the label, Two Opposites. A perfect combination which has lasted for years, this time with a breaks rollin bass track which reflects them perfectly.
A3 composed by a very talented French guy who has the composition in his soul. Fresh from his first release on Antam Records, Gabriel in art Sans Sucre, will continue to amaze us and we are certain of it.
B1 belongs to the other Italian co-founder of the label, Solidwood. In composing this track he has experienced a mixture of melancholy and hope , that only love can give. “Love Battle” is fruit of a lived experience.
B2 represented by Bowyer, leader of his own label Rube Goldberg Series. Originally from England he can already boast an EP on another Italo-Uruguayan label, Novi Orbis, and obviously other appearances around. We don’t believe he needs further presentations,
better go and listen to his space melodies.

Frank Bean aka "The Classic Mutha Fucka" first hit the decks in the early 90's and has since then built up his audience through his own parties and very memorable classic electro DJ sets at the world renowned Killekill parties in Berlin.
Detroit Techno has inspired him throughout the years and that is noticeable in his productions under the moniker "The Almost People" and his new project "The Classic MuthaFucka”. The likes of Funk, Hip Hop and early Detroit Techno have helped him train his ear. What to expect from a Classic Mutha Fucka set? The perfect marriage of sound scapes blended with electro and hip hop that mutate every so softly into a zone that scrapes the surface of sex and nerdism. His delivery is ever so subtle to the musical ear and that of the listener/party goer. You must expose yourself to a full Bean set in order to experience the Tension that builds ever so subtlety. A little while before Metro Area came into life, there was Acronym City. Originally released on Sub Freq Recordings in 1996, Darshan Jesrani's moniker deals with the impact that electronic music from Detroit had on some inhabitants of said metro area. Long out of print, now carefully restored, re-mastered and slightly re-edited by Gerd Janson, Darshan Jesrani finds the missing link between techno soul and the sort of contemplative and playful heavy deep house that New York's underground was bringing forth in the early nineties. Without plagiarizing the one or the other, Acronym City naturally explores form and function of a sound that will never grow old. Backed up by an ethereal stop and go remix version of 'Powermoves' by DJ Sprout and escorted by 'The Push", this one is for the users.

Reflecting over new life, Krasch 3 takes inspiration from a future untold. Noah Gibson returns with a different and more reflective atmosphere. Standing at one point at the dawn of a bright tomorrow: new life. Paired with a technologically backlashed futuristic city scape: piles of illuminated displays, desolate buildings that stand tall as a symbol of a former glory. 'Krasch 3' is a scenery with different takes on the same theme. 'Edge of Tomorrow', 'Emerge' and 'Route I' symbolize the brightness where 'City Entrance', 'Backstreet' and 'Route II' brings us a dystopian vision of the next tomorrow. What we have is a solid return. Noah Gibson brings something new and exciting, something that Krasch Records stands for.

Newworldaquarium adds to his small but perfectly formed discography two unreleased extras from his Dead Bears album, and describes them as "early 2000s minimalism trying to survive in today's maximized society." 'Mercury' is a ten minute epic that journeys to the stars. Cosmic melodies shimmer in expansive skies as rubber kicks speed up and slow down back on earth. Synths twinkling and change shape, grand pads wash over you and the whole thing is utterly beautiful and hypnotic. 'Levels Halo' is a vastly spacious cut with arcing pads reaching up to the heavens as super deep kick drums gently thud way down below. Part dub, part ambient, part soundtrack, it is a truly cathartic listening experience. These are two more devastatingly deep and emotive cuts from Newworldaquarium.

For the third instalment of Detroit Love's acclaimed mix series, none other than Dirt Tech Reck label boss and Slum Village co-founder Waajeed steps up for a 20-track mix paying tribute to the margins of Detroit and beyond.
Hot on the heels of Carl Craig and Stacey Pullen's mixes, Waajeed's tells a highly personal tale of the Detroit spirit, of someone living and breathing its culture since a young age. Having grown up to the sounds of Roy Ayers, Kraftwerk and Funkadelic, cultivated his sonic profile alongside J Dilla as part of Slum Village, Waajeed launched his own Dirt Tech Reck label that veers towards more dancefloor-focused tracks. And even though Waajeed's sound has gone through a multitude of changes over the years, his cautious understanding of the symbiosis between soul and grit has always remained true to its Motor City roots.
For the mix he calls upon a number of his most respected contemporaries, forging an authentic blend of genres spanning familiar grooves and a slew of unheard exclusives. From Patrice Scott and Doc Link to LADYMONIX and DJ Rimarkible, Detroit Love Vol. 3 blends the old and the new, the jazzy and the industrial, bound together by their idiosyncratic nods to the city's legacy.
