Rising London duo, Mounter & Mifi, kick start their 2014 campaign with a release on Save You Records, and this, their debut EP on Losing Suki.
'Temper" is a steppers delight; more wobble than a Weight Watchers meeting, some Redneck vox samples and some precision, jacked up beats, proper tackle for the dancefloor from Mounter & Mifi. "Fiercely Pretty" is no-nonsense, minimal gear, an incessant bass synth stab bounces over the drums whilst the track gets proper twisted, with sounds akin to nails slowly scraping over a chalk board (don't be put off by this though).
Turn the disc over, and "Feel Ha" is in a right uptempo, jump-up stylee, the Reese-esque bass worming around the steppy beats and 'Feel Ha' vocal, whilst EP closer, "1000 Snares" is the EP's deepest moment, whether or not the lads have actually used 1000 snares is yet to be confirmed, but this jam is percussive to the max, a solid groove from these talented chaps, and not the last we will hear from them either....
'Temper' EP is available from 3rd March 2014 on 12" vinyl and digital download.

* Pokk! - SM-LL 0000 is the first main label 12' release on SM-LL. Furthering his deep interests in rhythm, repetition and reduction, Pokk! crafts white noise with clinical tone bass percussive elements to form shifting patterns alike that of Steve Reich, and creates a particular sonic rawness parallel to 'The Works' by JB³ . This 4-track release spans from intense rhythmical drive such as '203', calm and broken structures found in '172' and '207', to a classic Yves De Mey heavy bass pulsating remix created using a Nord Modular patch provided by Pokk! Their mutual passions for the Nord Modular system brings Pokk! and Yves De Mey together, crossing creative paths for the first time.

The sixth release on OTB Records sees debutant Lockyear explore new territory for the imprint/label.



Honing his craft and tastes in Manchester, the now London based producer draws influence from dance music spanning multiple decades and regions: from Detroit to Norway, Amsterdam and Vancouver. On the A side, Store Street channels the capacious vigour of packed Manchester warehouses from years gone by. A charging lead and polyrhythmic drum line combine to disorient and urge dancers to frenzy. Katabatic Wind finds Lockyear in more contemplative form. As a symphony of disjointed ambient textures and glassy, washing synths envelop a tense bottom line, the groove's driving meditation tugs on feet and minds alike.
For the visual identity, OTB records started collaborating with 88888, an interdisciplinary artist-duo who designed an art stamp that will be used to produce the vinyl sleeves by hand, making each piece unique.
Vinyl will be available 1 month before the digital release.

The Chicago artist collective and underground party series presents its first vinyl only release, Tied 001. For the label launch the guys welcome Berlin based artists Topper, Andrea Ferlin, and RG (Sleep Is Commercial, Club der Visionaere) as Memo Boys.' The release contains two original tracks on one side, and includes a special remix by Martinez (Concealed Sounds, Moon Harbour) on the other side. "Gem 1" takes the lead on EP with an upbeat stripped down groovy bass line and hi-hats that take you on a journey, while the sounds of "Gem 2" and Martinez version of "Gem 1" are both perfect for deep after-hours sessions.

'Sidetracking' is Jona's highly inventive and musically diverse ebut album project for Alex Niggemann's forward-thinking AEON label. The musical jigsaw puzzle began with 'Sidetracking - Part 1: Prologue' (the frst 2-track vinyl instalment with remixes) in December 2015 and is completed in February 2016 with the release of a second vinyl instalment (featuring 6 more original tracks) and the full 10-track album on CD format. Created over the course of two highly creative years, the concept for 'Sidetracking' was for Jona to invite some of his musician and producer friends to collaborate with him in the studio and compliment his album's solo productions. This inspired project features Varoslav (Rue de Plaisance, Paris), Usio (Studio Barnhus), David K (Cocoon), Bolivian percussionist Daniel Aguilar, Italian pianist Giovanni Verga, and Edinburgh-based producer The Reverse Engineer.Driven by his desire to explore new sound perspectives and ideas, Jona has carefully forged his career path by consistently creating exciting and forward-thinking music. His previous label outings: 'Trafc' on 'Lost Tapes Volume 1' (AEON010) and 'Gemini EP' (AEON016) have seen him fne-tune his own unique sound. By incorporating a wide range of styles into his tracks, Jona strives to break down unnecessary boundaries and explore new ideas and ways to ignite that hallowed dancefoor fame. It is therefore no wonder that his solo and collaborative creations for 'Sidetracking' have yielded such stimulating aural delights.'Microcosm' with its subtly mesmeric intro and snappy, swinging percussive energy is the perfect introductory aural treat, before diving into a spiraling, glitchy ambient 'Descent Into The Abyss'. Varoslav (label boss at Rue De Plaisance) is a Parisian of Czech origin who brings his 'from the heart' creative energy to the gentle chiming chug of 'Over And Out', the album's frst collaborative venture.'The Chase' is a track whose style is heavily infuenced by the jazz music that Jona was so in love with during his formative years. Calling on the somewhat mysterious Usio (whose 'Kuwa Huru' LP on Studio Barnhus should be checked by everyone) to join him in a studio jam, has resulted in an utterly compelling afro-beat infuenced percussive groove, topped with swirling funk-fuelled stabs and strings, mesmerising melodious piano, and a large helping of pure, hip-swinging goodness.

For their second launch a-records turns to Sandburgen aka Ralf Noetzel.
With Sandorama he delivers a varied 4-tracker which dances around minimal techno yet could find itself dropped all over.

A1 - Quartz: atmospheric minimal trance, clattering beats, insistent bass and a mesmeric synth harmony for early morning dancefloors.
A2 - Sandorama: the title track breaks in with a stumbling bassline which funks its way across stomping minimal beats and fluttering white noise percussion.
B1 - Sunshine: the non four to the floor track of the EP. Hypnotic staccato synths culminate in an atmospheric sound spectacle, soundtrack to gamma radiation.
B2 - Minced Meat: inspired by 80s synth-pop anthems and trance fundamentals. The track starts off with dry bass and drum sounds before being carried away by swelling synth arpeggios.


Sandorama continues the a-records saga with the same philosophy yet an alternative form. Where Sumad rocked with brilliant dryness, Sandburgen wallows in treacle-laced melodies without lapsing into mainstream

Für ihre zweite Veröffentlichung holen sich a-records den Düsseldorfer Produzenten Sandburgen aka Ralf Noetzel ins Haus. Mit Sandorama liefert er einen abwechslungsreichen 4 Tracker ab, der nicht nur in Minimal-Sets seinen Platz finden dürfte.
A1- Quartz: Ein athmosphärischer Minimal Trance Track. Klackernder Beat, eindringlicher Bass und eine hypnotische Synth-Harmonie, dürften die Crowd auch in den frühen Morgenstunden noch auf Reisen schicken.

'Sandorama'schließt nahtlos an den Grundgedanken der hoffnungsvoll beginnenden a-records Serie an. Wo Sumad genial trocken rockte, wird hier an schmalziger Melodik nicht gegeizt, ohne in Mainstream-Gedudel zu verfallen.
