Techno News
* Techno producer Bruno Pronsato and Benjamin Myers (one-half of Benoit & Sergio) return as NDF, with their new EP, 'Cruel Is The Color'. It comes six years after their only release so far, the William Trevor-inspired twilit-techno opus, 'Since We Last Met'—an EP which caught everyone off-guard.
* Issued on James Murphy's DFA label, and also featuring a 17-minute Ricardo Villalobos remix, its title track was heralded as a "10-minute dance track you don't ever want to end" by Pitchfork, who subsequently included it as one of their highlights in their My Decade in Music So Far round-up of last year.
* By September 2014, Pronsato & Myers had been sharing a studio in Berlin for about a year, but were focusing on separate projects, keeping opposing schedules. Lunch plans at the studio one day that month instead resulted in the creation of a new track, the eponymous 'Cruel Is The Color" .The entire process took about 30 minutes, with Pronsato on percussion and synths, and Myers on vocals, synths, and an acoustic guitar which had been lying around the studio. It was the first time they'd worked together in years—and they recollect that 'the guitar and synths just climaxed together, like two lovers reuniting after a long absence.'
* Having now resolved to write an EP, they felt that the other tracks needed to follow in that same vein—'a more acoustic treatment with elements of dance music still present'—so they sat down the following winter in Pronsato's apartment and recorded 'Certain Corners' (with Israeli bassist Yonatan Levi), and 'Another Year' ,in that same style. Myers recalls 'waking up early and walking in the cold Berlin mornings to Bruno's spot and, perhaps because there was a lot of personal turmoil in those winter months, we both really got into skullduggery and chicanery as concepts for the record—the ways that dishonest behaviors amongst friends, acquaintances and lovers (old and new) undermine a sense of self and security in our music scene and all its overlapping systems of value and parameters. We wanted to make a moral record.'
* The EP also includes reworkings of the new tracks by BBC Radiophonic Workshop director Matthew Herbert, and Foom label head Ben Freeney. It is set to be released on October 21st on Foom.
BIOGRAPHY
* Bruno Pronsato first came to prominence with his 'Why Can't We Be Like Us' long player, rated a rare 5/5 by Resident Advisor in 2008. The follow-up, 'Lovers Do' was dubbed "a massive and striking statement" by Pitchfork. Pronsato also records with Sammy Dee as Half Hawaii (on Perlon), with Ninca Leece as Public Lover, and as Melchior & Pronsato with Thomas Melchior. He co-produced Ellen Allien's 2013 album, LiSm and was also a member of the techno supergroup Narod Niki, alongside Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Zip, Akufen & Daniel Bell. 2014 saw the release of his latest solo project, Archangel. The new material has since been reversioned by Dean Blunt, Oliver Coates and Peter Gordon of Love of Life Orchestra.
* Benjamin Myers is the vocalist and one half of production duo Benoit & Sergio. They first broke through with their 'What I've Lost' EP on Bruno Pronsato's TheSongSays label. The tracks were later rereleased on DFA, who also released their 'Boy Trouble' EP. While some of Benoit & Sergio's lyrics might speak of loss or loneliness, the past years have ushered in a room crowded with critical accolades: iTunes Breakthrough Electronic Artists of the Year; Resident Advisor Top 10 Live Act; DJ Forum Breakthrough Artists. In addition, Benoit & Sergio had four different singles-'Everybody', 'Principles', 'Let Me Count The Ways', and 'Walk and Talk'-variously charted in top 20 year-end polls, including DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, and Mixmag. They have also remixed Matthew Dear, & Metronomy.

Rough techno versions, derived from Stefan Goldmann's synth-heavy 'A1' film soundtrack. Five cuts remixed into the mighty 4/4 grid (mostly). Free wheeling hardware synthesis and heavy-handed beats line up for concrete-blasting impact on 'Constructor' and 'A-Drive'. The B2's 'Spikes' is a more loose affair around a scintillating analogue synth riff. Contrastingly, 'Inward Slope' features a warped beat layout and wavetable splashes, sounding like a weeping robot fighting with a cat. 'Roadside Lot' is a soothing ambient FM tech tool. That's it. On to the next fifty.

Despite the fact Moon Harbour is celebrating 15 years in action this summer, they still have
plenty of time for new music. Next up is label regular Sable Sheep with three brand new cuts
that all continue in his fine tradition of serving up surefire dancefloor bombs.
Before now, Sable Sheep has served up memorable moments like 'Upon Burning Skies' on this
label, as well as others on Desolat and Be As One. As such he now has a large fan base
around the world and both DJs and dancers love his always evolving output in equal measure.
Up first here is the title track, 'Butterflies Drowning', a playful affair that packs a lot in: off a bed
of rubbery, bouncy drums, lots of jangling melodies, glassy tinkles and feel good piano chords
all dance a summery dance. It's a real hands in the air tune, for sure.
'Kushhh' is a much more forceful and physical tune, with raved-up stabs, siren sounds and
bulky drums banging out a pattern. It's one for the peak of the night and is sure to inject tons of
energy into any party.
Lastly, the excellent 'Grim' is a deep, bubbly offering for backroom basement parties This
irresistible groove stays low, with thick, gloopy synths and subtle hi hats rippling along at an
inviting pace.
This EP proves Sable Sheep has a lot of variation in his arsenal, and for that reason is one of
his best offerings yet.

I am catalogue number 016 on Synapsis Records. Four tunes called 4D Mind Sculpting comprise this 12' that fill up the frequency spectrum with its acid lines, chord progressions, and arpeggiation lines. Four dimensions do not exist in our reality but if one could imagine the extra dimensional sense, then these four compositions are what I imagine.
A1. Arp Love Confusion:
Arp Love Confusion///Strong words of advice begin with a full bass and sparse chords as the percussion strikes in the background. Later an arpeggiation followed by a second arpeggiation happens to create moody and malleable effects. The intensity picks up as the chords swell and the vocals continue, all the elements persist with fluid motion as it slowly descends to a kick at the end.
A2. Leecher:
Leecher///A warm kick and panning arpeggiation begins the composition followed quickly by a melody and then another arpeggiation appears. The percussion is sparse and moving, then an acid line drops that causes counterpoint before becoming the main focus of the tune for a while. The acid line modulates for a bit and leads us back to an arp line. The head bobbing is now in full effect, as all the elements move back in forth and fill up one's eardrum with waveforms. The acid line makes a break and the journey comes to an end with the arp line.
B1. S¸imarik:
S¸imarik///A filtered percussion loop with sparse chords begin the piece. Hi hats come in hot that leads us into acid line which also serves as the melody. Then suddenly a counter melody appears as the chords hit more often. Many modulations occur as the tune moves through time causing great variety due to the decay from the chords. The acid line comes back to do the work and is the focus as the track builds back up just to be deconstructed at the end.
B2. Sensei:
Sensei///The 12" ends with banging percussion complimented with fluttering flute lines. The acid line comes in to add a groove that leads us to a chord progression. The bright chords ride over the top as the acid line modulates. The chords gain steam and the acid line becomes the focus as the synth toms syncopate, the kick also moves around adding additional syncopation. The interplay between the elements continues until the conclusion.

Kicking off with the first track "Lose Yourself", Viken Arman mixes different cultural
influences to an exciting and mysterious intro of the 3 track EP. Guitars rise into
unknown spaces of deep bass and hidden complexity of beatstructures.
The second track, "Red", lead by wavy-delayed chords and soft vocals spreads the
EP into a more percussional quiet way, supported by sitar and slight bass.
Lastly, Maher Daniel abducts "Red", the rhythmical trip, straight back to the dark
clubroots. Alternately combining the tight instrumentally base of Viken Arman and his
own terms of reference.

Next to step up to D Edge's conceptual label OLGA is solo Berlin artist Martin Mueller aka youANDme. The acclaimed producer serves up three brilliant tracks that, like all releases on this label, are designed specifically with the Brazil club's futuristic styles and sumptuous sound system in mind.
youANDme runs a bunch of his own labels including some mysterious ones but also Rotary Cocktail Recordings, Polymorph and CUTZ.ME. He has been turning out deep and seductive jams for almost ten years now and have done so on Cocoon, Desolat and Finale Sessions amongst others. Always serving up brooding and physical machine made music with real underground soul, the music here is made up of great modular synth jams done in one take on old analogue machines that have authentic textures and atmospheres hidden within. It really feels like youANDme is speaking to us through his machines here, with subtle messages mirroring the turmoil of the global political times in with we live.
The first A1 cut on this Sinus Cosinus EP is a spooky and spine tingling num-ber with freaky and creepy synth lines sounding all trippy above a firmly rooted and rolling drum line. Dubby and full fat, it is the sort of heady tune to really drive a tight club crowd wild.
The second offering B1 is then a pressure building cut with heavy kick drums demanding you march to their beat. More sci-fi and spaced out sounds flesh out the grove up top and will help make for an otherworldly experience on the dance floor.
Last of all, the B2 track is more loose and unhinged, with watery and squelchy sounds dripping and popping off over rubbery drums. Textured and full of expert sound design, it is the sort of cut to really get people under a hypnotic spell.

Many people ask me what 30' means to me as it's just a simple number.30 is my current age, and age is nothing but a way to measure time that has gone.30 is the name of my first album, where I tried to involve in just one work all of my background and all of the efforts I made through the years. It's a goal achieved, an artistic and personal consciousness that I'd like to share as much as I can with you guys.I wanted to call it this way because I had the need to prove points, involving emotions and feelings, knowing that emotions and feelings are hard to contain. In these 18 tracks there's everything I've been, 'till this moment and everything that I want to be from now on.It's an emotional path full of colors, the perfect painting to make you understand my interpretation of music.
Inside the album you will find linear tracks and techno killer,in the same time tracks more downtempo and introspective. To each of them I wanted to give the most intimate interpretation I could give, trying to make you absorb everything that has influenced me,musically in my carrier. This is the firt time I'm showing myself this way as it's the first time I really feel ready to do it,so then 30 perhaps is an acquired maturity to make me experience this revolution. The album will be out on RIOT my music label,it's not an accident if Riot' is the acronym for Revolutionary Idea On time.
Enjoy the music.
COME ON is a perfect track to bring the dancefloor to delirium. It is innovative, with a house groove and more Chicago House sounds. It has been already supported by many dj, finding a huge success in most important festivals.
CRAZY MAN is madness. The neurotic synth in the track is the best state of mind different, crazy and sometimes hysterical.
IN&OUT causes an adrenaline rush by harmonizing the bass of up to almost half track. With its 125 BPM has an incredible impact on the audience. The title is a clear criticism of the musical world, now locked in a system that often leaves home phenomenal artists rather than evaluate them as they deserve.
MY OWN SENSATION is a solar track. Melodies and mentioned vocals, accompanied by repeated bass throughout the track, blow up the track into a big party, maybe in Ibiza.

With a lengthy discography on influential imprints like his own Sub Static, Triebstoff, Dumb Unit, Contexterrior, and more, Falko Brocksieper has been a force in the development in deep, minimal sounds for a decade and a half. Working alongside label co-head M.I.A., Sub Static and sublabel Karloff released music from prestigious producers - René Breitbarth, Mathew Jonson, Pan/Tone, DJ Slip, Shonky, and themselves - from 2001-2010 and established the lasting reputation of Falko while identifying their label as a source of quality dancefloor ideas for its decade-long run.
If things have been quieter for him since 2011, he has remained active in his Berlin base, and for the 9th release on Caduceus Records we proudly offer a pair of originals from the respected German producer with remixes from Petar Dundov and Ladislav.
Following on its evocative, mysterious title, 'Ocean Machine' explores aquatic dub atmospheres and clear melodic elements as it slowly accelerates to cruising speed and remains there for the duration exploring these depths. While remaining invested in dubby melody, 'Loom' is a tougher techno track driven by a powerful, growling bassline and gritty drum programs that exchange energy with the keyboard parts while slowly gaining momentum.
Known for his deeply textured sound, Dundov transforms 'Ocean Machine' into an epic that rides to high drama on suspended pads, rolling, pulsating bass, and understated but hard-hitting percussion.
Adding vocal samples and more dramatic drum changes to 'Loom', Ladislav keeps drive intact but builds on the atmospherics to create rousing peak-time techno. A digital bonus is Falko's heavily ambient 'Give up the Ghost', a submerged journey where static, synthesizer zaps, and incomprehensible vocals build to a subtle climax before slowly fading away.

After being introduced to the OFF camp by a number of sets on OFF showcases around the
globe, Amsterdam-based DJ-Producer Lauhaus presents his premiere EP as one of the new
core artists on the label.
Things kick off with "Dyson Sphere", a rolling bassline serves as fundament for a deep and
toolish groove, topped by spacy synth pads and stabs.
The "Dyson Dub takes things into an even rawer direction, a massive subbass, distorted chords,
and energetic oldschool drums drive the track forward.
"Transits" offers a deeper vibe, perfect for the afterhour or a chilled sunday afternoon set.
Anonym steps up for a trippy minimalistic remix of "Transits", an ideal set opener.
"Flux" completes the ep with mental hypnotic techno vibes.

For this vinyl release we have the pleasure to bring you a collaboration between three great producers, Andre Butano and Arfil, which is the new duo that includes Argenis Brito and Phillipe Liard. Their release is called Arbolea EP and it contains two original tracks. The first one is Arbolea, which presents a tech base but a slow and crazy groove driven mostly by synth bass line that carries out the whole vibe of the track. Besides that, we have a decent amount of percussive and iterated elements that creates different layers of sound, which are also perfectly placed together with a fantastic articulation between them. The second track called Dirty Harry, presents a more minimalistic composition and selection of sounds, but never leaving behind that funky tech style that characterizes these producers. The first melodic element for this track results from the bass line, which adds only a few but necessary notes to lift up the mood with ease due to its perfect placement. Several other sounds are present to create a great vibe as the several percussion sounds that, again, are blended perfectly to each other. The siren sound working as pad, and the acid synth that appears in the backend of the main break working as the second melodic element, shows up mostly to reset the heads of the crowd and keep groove going on after the release. These are definitely two great pieces of work, result of an impressive collaboration from these great producers.

For the latest release on Dissonant, his founder Marc Antona presents two grand journeys that reach into the deepest parts of his musical psyche. In'Rattle Snaps' he turns out a seductive bass line and a captivating beat drawing on his strength in layering up ingenious sonic details. The stripped-back feel of the track supports scattered drum hits with skillful and subtle touches while the energy rises and falls without breaking the immersive atmosphere. Stretching out over twelve gripping minutes on the B side,'The Fifth Season' is a powerful track with strong sub-bass ripples and a rising pad tone that sends shivers up the spine. It's the perfect demonstration of the drama and excitement giving a step forwards.

Foremost minimal techno producer Barem is next to serve up a compelling three track EP for the ever more essential Rhythm Cult label and comes hot on the heels of EPs from Deadbeat and Greenville Massive amongst others.
As well as being a key artist on the Minus label, Barem has appeared on Leftroom, Mindshare and Moon Harbour, and is a revered live performer who has headlined everywhere from DEMF to Mutek.
Of course, he is a stylistically diverse producer who shows us his well-honed
production chops here once again.
First track 'Vanda' is awash with beautiful melodies as synthetic, intricate drums form a liquid groove down below.
Both minimal but colourful, groovy but organic, it's a charming track with plenty of summery warmth imbued within.
Next up, 'Phaius' is slightly darker and more late night, with its nagging sine waves, skittish percussion and flappy drums.
Alien sound effects scurry across the face and wooden hi hats add another micro-groove with which dancers will easily relate.
Finally, 'Lycaste' gets all shimmery and shuffling with a soft edge cloud of hi hats, rolling drum fills and snares all coming over in jazzy fashion.
Off time hits, synth blurts and Villalobos style details all characterise this cerebral track, and a killer, classic house bass line and wandering piano line both tie the whole thing together in style.
This is an EP of superb techno that is stuffed with charm, emotion and organic textures that really makes you feel something whilst drawing you to the dance floor.

A SHIP CALLED MISTERIO takes us on a journey to the darker and harder spaces of NOON RECORDS. Where the last releases have been more dreamy and funky, this EP is nothing but Techno at its finest. A SHIP CALLED MISTERIO takes off from the very depths of dissonant frequencies and builds up
into a massive rolling drum pattern, distorted hooks and a hi-hat thunderstorm. Be warned: this track doesn't show any mercy. A true peak-time record and nothing but dynamite for the dance floor.

NOON means midday, the time when the sun is at its highest each day, even if we cannot see it.
It is the moment of greatest light, where one cycle ends and another begins. It is the end of the day and the beginning of the night. It is that brightest moment that always leads us to the darkest one, and vice versa.
THE EP
SIMPLE THINGS is a love song about the end of love and a new beginning. Simple things are those that separate the real, the true, and everything else.
SIMPLE THINGS is about that love that we all let go of, that we lose, and from which we learn so much about ourselves. Because love always happens for the best.
GOD HATES US ALL is a digital extra that takes us to the dance floor as a place for rebirth, where the music heals us and returns life to us and to the celebration that it is.
THE ARTIST
MATTEO SPEDICATI could have been a rock star if he had been born decades ago in California.
He is a producer that combines elements of pop/rock with electronic music in a very chaotic and imperfect way. He is very authentic in his creative process and the results are authentic, too. Matteo is a composer, guitarist, producer and a fantastic DJ.
He convinced us with his work (and his chaos) that he needed us and that we needed a little bit of chaos in this time of calm. Now he is part of our roster (also for bookings and management of NOON ARTISTS worldwide).
THE REMIXES
CESAR MERVEILLE
Cesar was part of NOON when our label was only an idea. We always knew he would fit in at NOON. We asked him to give us his version of SIMPLE THINGS because we were hoping that he would take us on a splendid journey through the little things, because we knew that he was going to recreate these SIMPLE THINGS and make them more profound, complex, and beautiful.
REBOOT
It has become tradition to have Reboot himself welcome our new talent and remix one of their songs. In this case the remix is very faithful to the original version, but it makes us dance with the Reboot sound that is so characteristic of and essential to our label. What more can we say about Reboot

Cocoon Recordings presents: P! Who would have thought of this at the beginning of this compilation series It's letter P everybody, which means this is one of the longest running techno compilation series around! Loaded with power and purity the latest edition of our series offers you a great selection of freaking crazy and kicking techno tunes. Our last compilations followed the basic concept of good club nights with an introduction part, the peak time and some cool downs and even after hour sounds. In contrast to this we open the clubdoor with P right from the start, no time for easy chit chat and soft entries - we want to move our feet and heads right from the beginning and here we are: Mirko Loko is in control for the beginning. His track Artificiel' is energetic, crazy and minimalistic at the same time. With destroyed digital sound fragments, yet consistently demanding, Mirko Loko opens the door and welcomes you to the club of P! Wouter de Moor follows with his Tesla Coil' - a speedy acid tune that has only one message: Freak out! With the pace, the simple structure and those crazy hihats - Tesla Coil' sounds almost like an old steam locomotive. The sounds hiss and the beat rolls and the clubtrain won't stop! Einzelkind & Robin Scholz present their Rhythm Factory' project next and their mutual work n.2guts . Another kickin' acid-tune, full of power with a energy loaded forward boost. Slightly slower than Wouter de Moor but certainly with a similar vibe the two tunes act as a perfect double-pack!
