Samuel Rohrer, the multi-faceted, forward-thinking percussio- nist and producer behind the arjunamusic label, the AMBIQ trio and a wealth of other musical projects, has set out on his own with a new full-length solo album Range of Regularity as a double EP set with a deceptive title if ever there was one: the sonic experience of this record is, in fact, a highly irregular one (and a highly welcome one at that). Constructed almost entirely upon electronically-treated recordings of acoustic in- strumentation, with a bare minimum of synthesizer voicing, RoR vibrates with a compelling organicism - as if old-growth Black Forest trees had conspired together to make an album of ultra-modern improvisational music. Indeed, the record feels limned with contributions from some 'other' intelligence, despite being a clear extension of the fluid, percussion-driven musical technique that Rohrer has exhibited in previous years.
Opening with the track 'Microcosmism,' the sound-forest feeling immediately takes effect, and the listener can either enjoying navigating a path through this verdant total environ- ment or just being lost in it. Sonic organisms fly in and out of your headspace here at different speeds and bring with them all kinds of different dispositions, though Rohrer's reliable propulsive rhythms are always there to help direct traffic. 'Le- nina' does not abandon this unique aesthetic, but reprises the story with a different vocabulary (in this case, deep synth-bass signals, piano runs and all sorts of hyper-real ventilations). 'Nimbus,' not at all an ambient cloudscape like the title might suggest, temporarily dials back the feeling of modular assem- blage that powers the previous two pieces, and allows Rohrer's drumkit to come to the fore, working away at a determined snare-driven beat that brings a variety of treated sound ephe- mera out their hiding places.
After the gentle - but never too precious - interlude of 'Sun- clue,' 'War On Consciousness' emerges as the album's infec- tious tour de force. As the title implies, the feeling here is of using sound to fend off some sort of invasive energy, and the epic battle that ensues features a full concert's worth of tim- bral variations and audio events. Incisive rhythmic patterns slice away like finely honed blades at an insistent mechanical chattering, while cautiously walking acoustic bass adds an ex- tra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with an extra layer of defense. 'Uncertain Grace' closes the set out with a busy multi-layered arpeggiation punctuated with bass drum hits, from which a melodic narrative gradually emerges like a distinctly human face rising from a field of visual noise. As the drums again join in, the final exclamation point is added to a very personal artistic statement. Though fans of adven- turous music will find similarities to other progenitors of rhythmic intelligence (classic Can, for example), Range of Regu- larity stands perfectly well on its own.

He worked with numerous artists including Sidsel Endresen, Ricardo Villalobos, Skuli Sverrisson, Nils Petter Molvaer, Lau- rie Anderson, Nan Goldin, Eivind Aarset, Max Loderbauer, Mark Feldman or Jan Bang. He recorded several albums for ECM and built his own label arjunamusic records in 2012, on which he implements his idea of overlapping improvised acoustic music with electronic club music.
Besides working on many new projects including AMBIQ (with Max Loderbauer and Claudio Puntin) or with Nils Petter Molvaer, he collaborates with Soundwalk Collective, Nan Goldin, Harmen Fraanje, Daniel Erdmann & Vincent Cour- tois, Max Loderbauer & Luigi Rangino, Tyler Friedman, and many others, and is focussing on his solo work in the field of acoustic/electronic music.

Recognition opens up its archives and invites to a futuristic sentimental journey with respective stages set by the records 9702 (CD version) and 9799 (four exclusive tracks on a vinyl EP). Four tracks from single come from the time of Jacek Sienkiewicz's first record (Recognition CD). These earliest recordings openly refer to a formula and rhythmical density of Detroit Techno, although end result of this confrontation turns out to be surprisingly 'separate' and individualistic. In turn, 9702 album contains a set of varied tracks recorded withing five years after Warsaw label's launch and its first release. Extended compositions and short improvised sound notes resemble eccentric propositions of such labels as (early) Warp or Rephlex, standing next to melancholy-saturated minimalistic techno and abstract collage structures which prove out to share many characteristics of clicks'n'cuts movement of the second half of the 1990s. Usage of human voice samples is an outstanding feature of many of these archive materials. Entirety of mastered-anew content encompassing both records, contains all principal trademarks which distinguish Jacek Sienkiewicz's creations an his label Recognition - utmost care about depth of sound sphere, experimental inclinations and focus on complex motoric aspect of the rhythmical base. This collection of music from Recognition's first five years, surprising for its freshness and sheer impetus, is a must for all fans of Jacek Sienkiewicz and Polish electronic music of the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. In connection with publication of yet-unheard tracks, Jacek shares another slice of yet-unknown artistic vision, connecting sound with other media such as image, light and movement. RECOGNITION XX - audio-video performance - comes out in summer as a result of this retrospective look.

arrangements opens side two followed by 'Jukebox' a dodgy future step hurricane which
crashes into a glitchy sample storm front and a sanguine vocal finish which tells us: Thank

Since ancient times we knew that everything was about vibration, velocity and frequency. Anubis Ep wants to bring back metaphorically that solid foundation of reality through music and feeling. The first track, Anubis, like the Egyptian god, provides a safe passage to another world through its dub chords, dark techno berlinish synths and hidden messages in the voices scatters on the whole track. The remix, made by Canadian based artist Hooll, has a more minimal and deep dub approach completing perfectly the other side of the journey. Finally the last track, Thoth, represents a mediating energy between dark and light with raw low ends and groovy percussions creating a wormhole like journey for the listener.

Live recorded analogue natural sounds and horns combined with tight beats and grooves: that is the very unique approach from cosmo rec. Lucidflow make a ninth journey onto wax with label co-owner Nadja Lind's 'Tribe Dub', and no punches have been pulled with the array of top drawer remixers on board - featuring Brendon Moeller, Tigerskin & Jack Jenson, and Terry Lee Brown Jnr. Nadja's original fires on all cylinders with a frantic sub-bass assault that isn't going to be happy unless your lungs have been thoroughly bruised by a main room's speaker stack. As the bass tumbles, phasing dub stabs gracefully arc into the stratosphere and back again.

Production veteran Brendon Moeller steps up first on the mix with an interpretation that plays on the dancing dub elements of the original. A bare percussive anchor runs through the track allowing the rest of the elements to waltz around it in a shimmying and synchronised display.

Usually present under the Dub Taylor guise, Tigerskin adopts his main identity in tandem with Jack Jenson to bring a bit of dreaminess to the dance floor thunder of the original. Here, the elements are whispered, like the hush of walking out on a first light and frost covered morning. As the frozen pads thaw out, you emerge from the countryside into the hustle and bustle of the city, with apt field samples layering over the subtle and insistent groove.

Plastic City head honcho Terry Lee Brown Jnr is given the task of tackling Nadja's stellar 'Ignore And Block'. Like Tigerskin & Jack Jenson before it, the theme here is frozen melodies over precisely deployed percussion. Anyone familiar with his work will immediately find them at home in the deep-but-tech groove laid out over the track.

Coming out in 2017, the release will surface on smouldering orange marbled vinyl.

Caveman LSD, aka DJ Paradise, is a producer operating between Chicago and Berlin.

Jesse Siminski otherwise known by his DJ name Heartthrob and as label boss of imprint ISNISNT, returns with a fierce 4 track EP (5 tracks Digital) of jacking modern acid funk. Heartthrob has been producing for over a decade and his innate ability to create cutting edge and propulsive techno grooves has kept him busy with a touring schedule that takes him across the globe, as well as a new party series named after the label. His third release titled 'Haus Arrest' begins with the track 'Never Wanted One.' This track builds upon a solid manifold of thick arp bass, dusky synth melodies and sharp TR 909 drum work. Midway, a complex and funky bass line propels things forward, working with the jacking drums and spare synths. The release continues with 'Hours Lost.' This track fuses codes of Detroit techno with spinning Latin tinged drums and a rough funk tinged arrangement. Industrial stabs bounce and build until the main melodic theme rises and burns. 'A Fete Worse Than Death' moves through swinging drums, steady pulsing synths and a growling bass that builds to a crescendo of warped cosmic techno. The last track on the Vinyl 'Does Your Car Know' is a straight and steady drum led jack track. The pitch mutates, shifting through acid bass and more Detroit reminiscent pads. Finally, a bonus for those buying digital is a stripped down version of 'Does Your Car Know' which cements the infectious impact of the EP.

Marko De Gregorio & Tommy Paone aka Neverdogs are an Italian duo on the rise, over the past five years the pair have released material via the likes of Tenax Recordings and Oblack and this year has seen them hold a residency at Music On (Ibiza) held at the infamous Amnesia night club on the island. Here the duo return with some new original material for Decay Records, a blossoming British imprint home to music from the likes of Ed Davenport, Jay Tripwire and DJ W!ld, following their 'Hall 9000' release.

Title track 'This Is Not The End' opens the EP and sees Neverdogs deliver an eerie, hypnotic number with dubbed out synth flourishes, sparse rhythms and gradually blooming, ghostly vocal stylings. Morris Audio's Julien Sandre steps up to remix 'This Is Not the End' next and in typical fashion from the French producer he reshapes the original number into a groove-led house workout with crunchy drums, an unfaltering bass groove and sporadic glitched out synth licks.

On the flip side Neverdogs are back with 'September Time' taking things deeper with bright bell chimes, meandering bass notes, bright stab sequences and bubbling atmospherics, Canada's Nathan Barato then steps in round off the package with his take on 'September Time', delivering a more direct, loop driven interpretation on things.

He continues to push his music production for a unique and distinctive, high-quality sound which comes to the foreground in this Deep Soul mix of 'Wise Man.Rob Perry takes a new step in this production, putting a spin on his signature style of deep tech house with a new underground direction.

Manchester native Alex Coulton has nurtured a reputation for creating sub-heavy rollers thanks to 12's for the likes of Black Acre, Livity Sound and Bloc. With Gamma Ray Burst, the next in his series of releases on London low-end specialists Tempa, Coulton consolidates his sound to deliver some of the most sparse, rhythmic work of his career.

With the record's title track, Coulton weaves from hard-hitting kicks, through to dizzying tribal polyrhythms the whole time maintaining a minimal, space driven atmosphere that remains omnipresent throughout the track's most intense moments. 'Ground Zero' revels in its spaciousness, allowing reverb to flood into the negative space between flashes of heavyweight techno percussion and saturated ripples of synth while the pulsating kicks that underpin 'Alpha Decay' are punctuated with bleak, discordant bells, rhythmic bass hits and hypnotic filtered percussion.

Showing his diverse abilities, 'Phase Two' is an exercise in measured restraint, as a cacophony of clicks and hisses come together to disorientate before forming a driving rhythm section before Coulton maximises his expansive elements on the fog-tinged 'Ascent'.

Closing with the steady flowing, brighter-hued melodic work of 'Distant Resonance', Alex Coulton has created a masterful collection of experimental tech-focused electronica that bewilders, intrigues and will draw the listener in with each play.

Swiss-based Questo! Music gets a little sister called Questa! (sub-label with limited 150 vinyl records). For this, label-head Francesco Ballato merges with Chris Milla, who both are well-known for their specific sounds from the brother label. So the kick-off release called 'Galmus Longus' is a sophisticated and smoothly driven Original.

The B-side belongs to Zürich-based Andri, who already convinced with his producing skills on labels like Heinz Music, URSL, Highgrade, Cityfox and many more. His interpretation leads with a melodic and flashy hook straight ahead to the open air floors. Be quick and safe one of these limited gems.

Ygrok brings a long-awaited fourth release to its catalog. René Audiard's Sakhalin' takes things a step away from traditional club music.
The A side, Vox Out' opens with the skeleton of a rhythm. Scattered tom drums and barely detectable whirs, fading and reeling in the background. When the distorted voices begin their story behind a hissing, grinding off-shaker, you know this will not be your traditional club track. A story develops. The barest hint of a shuffling beat, a subtle reminder of Soren's previous work, pins down the journey into the darkest psychic territory. The title track Sakhalin steps even further into darkness. Crackling electrics and disjointed atmospheres change at a glacial pace over a submerged hydraulic beat. Sakhalin Audiard experimental territory.

Keep your eyes open because this September the mighty Serkal imprint drops its 8th vinyl release coming from Saved Records' Clio and backed up with Luca Agnelli's remix.

New York has always been famous for its Garage and House scene. Serkal has put the American city on the Techno map, releasing a series of quality records coming from producers all over the world. In September they present another strong package, 'Leave Me Alone EP', this time out on physical support, featuring the talented Berlin - based but French - born producer Clio. After releasing on Saved Record, Clio now offers up three tracks which move towards different genres, from Dub techno to raw House, clearly showcasing the producer's influences. The title track is a brainy and dark House cut driven by straight grooves, ethereal vocals and deep pad melodies. Desolat and Be As One's Luca Agnelli offers up his version of 'Leave Me Alone', a monstrous Techno dance-floor killer Berghain inspired. Following is 'Wanna Tell You', a melanchonic raw House track in which sampled vocals are fused with industrial sounding bass lines. The EP closes with 'What Is Life', an hypnotic Tech House tune in pure Serkal's style.
