The reciting of vows, the exchange of rings, the nuptial blessing: the Catholic rite of marriage centers around well-structured passages of a sacramental nature. When Frederik Croene was asked to rethink the musical settings for a wedding mass of a couple of friends, he got intrigued by the challenge of playing the Van Peteghem organ at St. Peter’s Church in Gent.

The family of its creator Pierre Van Peteghem was famous in the Romantic period for their exquisite organ constructions. It was not the first time Croene made improper use of traditional instruments: for his album ‘Le Piano Démécanisée’ (AudioMER, 2010) he turned to the frame of a piano, navigating between the classical repertoire and radical deconstruction of the musical idiom. With Timo Van Luijk (aka Af Ursin) he released ‘Voile au Vent’ (La Scie Dorée, 2009), creating a haunted cosmos of classical instruments pushed to the edge.

Impressed by Croene’s exploration of the Van Peteghem organ, B.A.A.D.M. invited him to return to this massive instrument for a recording of his battle with the registers of pipes and pedals. ‘F.C. Me Fecit’ is the result of hours of variations high up in the organ loft of the St. Peter’s Church. Recorded during stormy weather, this album reflects the different moods instilled by the idea of an eternal alliance between people. Alternately connecting and disconnecting with the organ, Croene’s polluted chords unfold a world of archaic aesthetics and romantic ambiguity.

In the split universe of both album sides of ‘F.C. Me Fecit’ (a deliberate wink to artistic mastery), Croene tames the organ and puts you under its spell.

With the world burning around oneself, the importance of the current moment is core, not to get lost. Focus on the important, i.e. the non-urgent, the ectoplasmatic material in the cracks between the whirlwinds of hurry, angst and greed around. Scarred ourselves, yet with unrelenting blissful resistance to the unforgiving circumstances, an apocalypse is not about giving up. Circling around the chaos to find one's own unique place(s), hailing and embracing the rare people that share those whereabouts. Connection, mutuality and community as the means to walk through the harsh cliffs of the world.

Aar & Dag is a collective of four Danish composers: Andreas Pallisgaard, Mads Forsby, Anders Lauge Meldgaard, and Michael Mørkholt. Each of the four members has an independent practice as a musician/composer, working with instrument-building, computer programming, live improvisation, and notated composition. In bringing the four members together, Aar & Dag’s intention is to create an open field for the examination and exploration into new methods, instruments, and systems for composing and performing music as a collaborative entity.

The music on the LP Tifold af Fri Form og Fælles Motiv is the product of several years of development, live performance, and studio recording, documenting Aar & Dag’s work with a large ensemble of 10 musicians that includes self-built synthesizer and electronic instruments, reeds and brass, and percussion. The uniqueness of Aar & Dag’s sound has a great deal to do with the lack of hierarchy in their approach to composition and performance, and the collective element of Aar & Dag is essential to understanding how their music is made. Large groups have often approached the question of structure through either notation or the dynamic of the player/composer as bandleader, with the leadership taking musical form as a melodic or rhythmic figure, from which the other players either support or embellish. Rather than the composer at the top of the pyramid sending their orders downward to the players, Aar & Dag functions more like a series of ever-widening circles, where sound flows inwards and outwards, generating further commands or conditions for the players, who can then respond and reintroduce elements into the sound field.

To start simply, one could look at the object depicted in the center of the LP’s cover: a circular wooden object which the group calls a “clock wheel sequencer”. The sequencer wheel is mounted on a stand, with a crank handle and a series of small metal points attached to the wheel’s body. As the wheel is rotated, magnets placed in different positions trigger an electronic sensor on the wheel’s base, creating a pattern of sound at different pitches and speeds, with variations dictated by the hands of the musicians.

Since the whole logic of the music on Tifold af Fri Form og Fælles Motiv revolves around these self-built wooden wheels, circular form, wonky movement and uneven time flow like undercurrents throughout the LP. The nature of the wheel is adopted by and shared between the 10 musicians in their way of playing, and a shattered multi temporal time signature presents the listener with an often dense, layered and unstable experience of time, pulse and period. As three members of Aar & Dag turn the sequencer wheels, tone patterns and rhythms are created that are fed into the organic mesh of the group. And, as with the hand driven wheel-sequenced synthesizers, each of the four percussion players play in a different time domain to one another, creating weirdly natural and yet novel and unfamiliar macro patterns together. The wind players share a group of note constellations with the synths, creating a canonic relation between the two, cross-mirroring and offset in dimensions. From this starting point, as each musician begins to respond, and thus introduce new sounds in the system, Aar & Dag begins to function like a giant feedback loop, expanding and contracting over the course of the album, like rolling, rotating waves of sound within a hand-drawn grid, vibrating in space, constantly changing and yet maintaining a tangible form. Aar & Dag describe this approach as “the collective instrumentarium”, the idea being that this entire construction of instruments and players is, in some sense, one instrument.

Following the sensory adventure of Tancade, in which Gaspar Claus led his listeners to a secret beach, somewhere between friends’ parties and summer sun, a new territory opens up. With Cells, he offers an even more expansive journey: an inner journey as much as a cosmic shift, a plunge to the point of origin, where life is invented.


True to his sole instrument, the cello, Gaspar multiplies its sound to the point of abstraction. This new work seeks to reach the primordial moment of the first cell division: a tiny, infinite moment when everything was still possible. On stage, he has built a shelter, a refuge-cell, a porous space where the visible and the invisible respond to one another. Lights, electronic breath, uncertain presences—everything conspires to confront the audience with its own dizzying presence in the world.
On the album, this architecture unfolds across ten “musical cells.” Each piece observes the same phenomenon: the cello allows itself to be absorbed, dissolved, stretched, or replicated by the machines. Sometimes preserved, often transformed, the instrument becomes living matter, an unstable organism, capable of emitting both electronic landscapes and archaic beats. A rich, luminous album, imbued with an almost healing energy, Cells might seem more electronic than Tancade. Yet every sound that makes it up comes from the cello— transformed, filtered, and reworked through a series of successive transformations. This is music that doesn’t merely describe life: it re-enacts it, cell by cell.

Der lettische Pianist Georgijs Osokins widmet sein Debütalbum bei der Deutschen Grammophon dem estnischen Komponisten Arvo Pärt. „For Arvo” ist eine Hommage an die baltische Klavierkultur und die

Neben Originalwerken für Klavier enthält das Album Osokins eigene Transkriptionen zentraler Pärt-Kompositionen
wie „Fratres”, „Pari intervallo” und „Fragile e conciliante, die das Vertrauen in Osokins’ musikalische Integrität und seine tiefe Auseinandersetzung mit Pärts Werk unterstreicht.
Osokins erforscht mit dem Programm die „verborgenen Beziehungen zwischen den verschiedenen Stücken
in Pärts Klavierwerk“ und spannt so den Bogen von Pärts frühen Kompositionen bis zu seinem charakteristischen Tintinnabuli-Stil. „Ich wollte genau den Moment kompositorischer Erkenntnis einfangen –

An extraordinary Italian Library recording originally released on the Costanza output in 1974 – series “Musica Per Commenti Sonori” with a mispressed catalogue number. The unveiled twin session of legendary Stefano Torossi’s FEELINGS album featuring the same line-up and same composers of that lucky production including music and direction by Giancarlo Gazzani and compositions made by Sandro Brugnolini and Stefano Torossi himself. After the release with the wrong catalogue number that was actually belonging to another Costanza recording, the album was immediately withdrawn, making it a real obscure item and never appeared for at least 40 years. According to original artists, this was originally recorded in Rome and Milan between february and july 1974. Music is on the same line of FEELINGS album with mental Jazz-Funk grooveness but with less orchestral elements and more underground vein.

‘With Time, We Learned To Ask Less’ is the first duo album by Giuseppe Ielasi and Riccardo D. Wanke after decades of friendship and the occasional artistic collaboration. Working with only electric guitar and electric piano as well as a gentle dose of reverb, these improvisation-based recordings showcase the rapprochement of two artists whose interests are perfectly aligned. Their carefulness, attention to detail, and shared desire to sculpt space through music instead of just occupying it create a unique harmony between these two exceptional musicians who consistently stay mindful of the old adage that music is the space between the notes. Following up on solo albums sees them seamlessly combining the sparse but lush aesthetics of those experiments throughout these 44 minutes. Having lived close to each other in Northern Italy, where the prolific mastering engineer Ielasi still resides to this day, he and Wanke were members of the group Medves together with Andrea Belfi, Renato Rinaldi and Stefano Pilia before Wanke relocated to Lisbon. When Ielasi, who had mastered Wanke’s recent solo albums including 2023’s »i« for electric pianos, was invited to play a concert in the Portuguese capital in the summer of that year, the two took the opportunity to go on stage together. Infatuated by the results of this fully improvised set, they organised a two-day session in Ielasi’s Monza studio shortly thereafter and edited the recordings over the course of the following months. The resulting album shows them moving slowly through sonic space and time, complementing and counterpointing each other’s playing. They leave each other room in which to unfold and let short moments of silence speak for themselves. ‘With Time, We Learned To Ask Less’ is the closest you will get to hearing the air sing.

Canadian pianist Glenn Gould (1932-1982) became one of the best- known and
most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century and particularly renowned
as an interpreter of the keyboard music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Gould's
playing was distinguished by his remarkable technical proficiency and his
capacity to articulate the polyphonic texture of Bach's music.
This release presents Gould's complete original 1955 rendition of Bach's Goldberg
Variations (Columbia, ML-5060). The work launched the pianist's career as a
renowned international player and became one of the most well- known piano
recordings. Sales were astonishing for a classical album at that time - 40,000
copies by 1960, and more than 100,000 by the time of Gould's death in 1982.

Kenniff wrote and recorded everything on the album with the exception of the track "A Word I Give", which is a collaboration with preeminent Japanese pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, who once described Goldmund's music as "...so, so, so beautiful." In an interview with NPR's Weekend Edition Keith Kenniff discussed his appreciation of Civil War era music, and it's ability to covey "...so much story in so few notes." Similarly, these improvisations manage to be richly evocative despite their technical and compositional simplicity, using subtle details and dynamics to express what might otherwise be inexpressible.

Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela celebrate the best in Latin American music, which “is all about dance, about rhythm” (Dudamel). “They set the concert hall afire with an enthusiastic fervor the likes of which none of us had ever witnessed from a symphony orchestra” (Los Angeles Times). The Hamrahlid Choir has been at the forefront of Icelandic musical life for more than four decades. Its members are former students at Hamrahlid College in Reykjavík, where Pergerour Ingolfsdottir formed a choir in 1967 and was its conductor until 2017. This was among the first college choirs in Iceland, and has maintained its leading position ever since. In 1982, Pergerour formed the Hamrahlid Choir, an ensemble made up of graduates of the college choir, and she has been its conductor ever since. More than 2,500 Icelandic teenagers have come into contact with classical music through the Hamrahlid choral experience. Many of these have had no prior musical training, but through diligent practice they have gone on to participate in music-making of the highest quality, from new Icelandic compositions to the choral masterworks of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. The Hamrahlid Choir has been a breeding ground for many of Iceland's leading singers, instrumentalists, and composers. Alongside Björk, the many musicians who are former members of the choir include pianist Vikingur Olafsson, composer Haukur Tómasson (recipient of the Nordic Council Music Prize 2004), musicologist Arni Heimir Ingólfsson, and bass Kristinn Sigmundsson (a frequent guest at the Metropolitan Opera stage). Although the Hamrahlid Choir is primarily devoted to musical education, it has from the very beginning been dedicated to giving performances of the highest quality. The choir sings with a pure, flexible, well-blended sound, and it performs with exuberance and a youthful sense of discovery. Critics throughout the world have praised its accurate intonation, clear diction, and the high level of enthusiasm and commitment that are among the hallmarks of the choir's music-making. Throughout its history, the choir has collaborated closely with Icelandic composers. Over 100 works have been composed especially for the choir, including works by virtually all of Iceland's leading composers. Apart from its close association with native composers, the choir has collaborated with foreign artists such as Arvo Pärt, John Cage, and Vagn Holmboe in the first Icelandic performances of their works. Arvo Pärt was so impressed with the choir's performance of his Te Deum in 1998 that he composed a choral work dedicated to Pergerour Ingolfsdottir, ...which was the son of..., which was premiered in 2000. With its dedication, passion, and spirit, the Hamrahlid Choir has touched audiences around the world. The Choir has travelled to 24 countries and has performed at many of the world's leading choral festivals to great acclaim, introducing audiences around the world to the rich legacy of Icelandic choral music.

In 2009 in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the death of George Frideric Handel, and the 800th anniversary of the University of Cambridge, the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge performed Handel’s best known work, Messiah, on Palm Sunday, April 5 2009 in the magnificent setting of King’s College Chapel. The performance was conducted by Stephen Cleobury, who sadly passed away last year, and featured the Academy of Ancient Music and soloists Ailish Tynan, Alice Coote, Allan Clayton and Matthew Rose. This event was broadcast live in many cinemas around Europe, US and Canada and released on CD and DVD. It is now available on vinyl for the first time.

Grzegorz Ciechowski einzuspielen, dem Gründer und Frontmann der Band Republika, einem früh verstorbenen Rockmusiker und Komponisten. Sie bat Hania, gemeinsam mit ihr an dem Album zu arbeiten. Biała
flaga (»Weiße Flagge«) wurde ein umgehender Erfolg. Gleich nach Veröffentlichung im September 2015

Auf seinem neuen Album "Chopin Orbit" eröffnet Piano-Shootingstar Hayato Sumino einen ganz eigenen musikalisch Kosmos rund um den berühmten Komponisten Auf dem konzeptionell vielfältigen und emotional bewegenden Album, stellt der weltweit gefeierte japanische Pianist und Komponist Hayato Sumino (alias "Cateen") die Musik von Frédéric Chopin in den Mittelpunkt und baut seinen ganzen eigenen musikalischen Kosmos darum auf. Frédéric Chopin, der zu Hayato Suminos Lieblingskomponisten gehört, ist seit Langem eine treibende Kraft in dessen künstlerischen Leben. Diese Verbindung wurde erstmals während seiner vielbeachteten Auftritte beim Internationalen Chopin-Wettbewerb 2021 deutlich und kommt nun in "Chopin Orbit" voll zur Geltung. The gentle music and quiet nostalgia of some of the most exquisitely beautiful poetry ever written flows through Hélène Grimaud’s latest album, a tribute to the Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. Together with baritone Konstantin Krimmel, winner of the 2018 International Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition, Grimaud presented extracts from Silvestrov’s song-cycle Silent Songs at the Stienitzsee Turbine Hall near Berlin last August, in the presence of the octogenarian composer, who has lived in Berlin as an exile from his war-torn homeland since March 2022.

The fourth title in the April vinyl batch marks the 30th anniversary of the death of the incredible Helmut Walcha. His acclaimed interpretation of three Bach Toccatas and Fugues (BWV 565, 540, 538), and the Toccata, Adagio & Fugue, BWV 564, played on the Schnitger Organ at St. Laurenskerk in Alkmaar, Netherlands, is now made available again on Archiv Produktion.
