This US initially comprised Steve Hayton (guitar/vocals), Cliff Carrison (drums) and Kurt Palombaki (bass/clarinet/vocals). The Trio spent its early months on a farm in New York state, before moving location to New Mexico. The promise of work in films brought the group to Europe in 1969, and although such plans were later aborted, they decided to settle in England. Daddy Longlegs showcased their appealing brand of good-time, country-influenced rock before the line-up was expanded to accomodate vocalist Mo Armstrong. Both he and Hayton then left the group, following which the drummer and bass player were moine by Peter Arneson (piano) and Gary Norton' Holderman (guitar), the latter of whom had worked with Carrison in Slim's Blues Band. Oakdown Farm was released on the renose Vertigo label, but progress was ampere by further changes in personnel.

In early 1965, just as the West African High-life scene was starting to get boring, the revolutionary sound of Fela Ransome Kuti & His Koola Lobitos burst upon us. A strikingly original musician, Fela Kuti was trained at the Trinity College of Music in London. From the very first, he was influenced by those "greats" of the jazz world - Thad Jones and Miles Davis. He gained much practical experience gigging in his spare time with London-based jazz men. A very talented musician - Fela's primary instrument is the trumpet, but he is also a swinging pianist and rave vocalist, as well as a composer and arranger. A musicians' musician. To maintain his reputation as West Africa's leading musician, Fela continuously experimented with varying forms of High-life and other exotic rythmic patterns. The results of these experiments are evident on all the numbers on this LP. Even the old familiar tunes have that new and original High-life tempo that Fela has made his own. Many so-called original bands have found fleeting success on the West African scene - only to fade quickly into obscurity, but Fela's extreme talent has made him one of its perennial stars.

Really just the best blues music you could ever hope to hear. Another testament to the brilliant ear of George Mitchell, who traveled the south in search of the real stuff & found it.

Roy Wood is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was particularly successful in the 60s and 70s as member and co-founder of The Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard. As a songwriter, he contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of these bands.

The BBC has described Wood as being responsible for some of the most memorable sounds of the Seventies' and credited as playing a major role in the Glam Rock, Psychedelic and Prog Rock movements'. In 2008, Wood was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to rock and pop by the University of Derby. In 2015, his long and eclectic career was recognized with the Outer Limits' award at the Progressive Music Awards in London. Wood will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of Electric Light Orchestra.

Boulders is the first solo album by Roy Wood. Apart from harmonium on track one played by John Kurlander, all the instruments (including guitars, cello, saxophones, recorders) and voices were recorded by Wood, who also wrote, arranged, and produced the entire album, and did a self-portrait for the front cover. Originally issued on Harvest, the album peaked at No. 15 in the UK Albums Chart.
Two singles were taken from the album, When Gran'ma Plays the Banjo' and Dear Elaine'. The latter reached No. 18 in the UK Singles Chart.

Kiss Each Other Clean, Iron and Wine’s fourth full-length record, was originally released in 2011 and came three years after his biggest selling record up to that point, The Shepherd’s Dog. The bands two earlier albums had been sparse, intimate solo affairs that offered no hint of the direction he would take with records three and four. Like The Shepherd’s Dog, Kiss Each Other Clean is layered with textures, poly-rhythmic sounds and a more is more approach.

The album's 10 tracks were recorded in Chicago and Beam's hometown of Austin and produced by Brian Deck and sounds like the music people heard in their parent's car growing up. clarinet and saxophone on the album comes courtesy of Dave Sitek collaborator Stuart Bogie. Beam has also experimented with other genres on the record as well as classic AOR. There are straight-up jazz, blues, and african elements.

This is the album that Link Wray originally offered to the Cadence label in the wake of his groundbreaking debut hit 'Rumble' back in 1958. Even though people loved 'em in Washington, D.C. Link and the boys did not last long on the label. Faster than you can say Rumble, everyone was talking about the new threat to the morals of American youth. their street image seemed to be sharply at odds with Cadence Records' formality, so the guys were dropped. Link eventually re- recorded some of the tracks for his next label, Epic, who actually released his debut album but these are the original Cadence versions from the original session tapes. Finally on vinyl, Link's debut album the way it was meant to be!

16 Horsepower were a Denver-based alternative country band that revolved around the unique songwriting and singing of David Eugene Edwards. The band made its name with music that combined rural backwoods kitsch with edgy, off-kilter country-rock.
'Sackcloth 'n' Ashes' is their first full length album and was originally released in 1996.

Abner Jay is an extraordinary one-man-band with one of the deepest emotive voices ever recorded. “Man Walked On The Moon” features Abner material from two different periods. Side A opens with an early deep 1970’s version of his signature song “I’m So Depressed,” which has never before been reissued on LP.

The hit is followed by four previously unreleased songs from the same period - “The Royal Palm” (a classic train song), “Old Black Joe,” “I’m A Hard Working Man,” and his paen to space travel, “Man Walked On The Moon.” All are sung and played by Abner with his standard one man band set up - electric banjo, drums played by his feet, and harmonica.
Side B of the LP features Abner’s emotionally charged last recordings. These were made two months before Abner passed away, and here we nd him pensively playing acoustic guitar and singing. The songs are incredibly emotional and not for the faint of heart. These mournful tracks were previously released on a Mississippi
10” EP back in 2011 (“Last Ole Minstrel Man”) and is long out-of- print. This LP collects some of Abner’s greatest work from across his career, all rare or previously unreleased classics!
LP comes housed in an old school “tip on” jacket and includes a 20 page booklet with photos and a loving tribute to Abner Jay written by Jack Teague. All tracks fully licensed from Brandie Jay, Abner’s daughter.

Out on May 3rd, "Anniversary" is the new studio album from critically acclaimed artist Adeem the Artist. The album was produced by Butch Walker who has produced hits for artists including Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Pink, Katy Perry, Panic! At the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Avril Lavigne and many others. This record is the continuation of a project that they began four years ago, directing their attention both inwards & outwards simultaneously and to exact correlating values so that they might be able to unbind the inner workings of themself while imagining new tools for stitching the fabric of society together again. AhGeeBe is the stage name of Welsh songwriter, pedal-steel player and general all-round multi- instrumentalist, Rhodri Gwyn Brooks. Through the past decade performing and recording with various artists (Melin Melyn, Gia Margaret, Novo Amor, Georgia Ruth & Ivan Moult to name a few), Rhodri has drawn on inspiration from artists such as George Harrison, Wilco and Neil Young, to produce his distinct brand of country Americana.
Through Bubblewrap, Rhodri has released lo-fi home
recordings and a couple of EP’s under his own name, as well as a Welsh Music Prize nominated album ‘Pontvane’, alongside Eugene Capper. Now, a decade in the making, AhGeeBe’s debut album ‘Chin Up, Chief‘ drops on November 3rd, through Bubblewrap Collective.
Rhodri shares some of his thoughts and processes...
Over the years I’ve come to realise that I much prefer playing for other artists, and collaborating with people, more than writing and releasing my own music with all the ffaff and headspace it takes up. But here we are.
The name of the record comes from a line in TV show Fargo, where police officer Molly tries to cheer up the police Chief. It stuck with me and seemed all too fitting a title for the songs as a whole.
Musically I wanted to make an album with all the sounds and feel I really love from artists like George Harrison, Wilco, Neil Young etc with piano and acoustic guitar, interupted by spikey electric guitars or mad fuzz solos with a solid slight funk to the rhythm section - my attempt to sound like a David Axelrod record. I got a pedal steel guitar around 3 years ago so there’s a veriety of bottleneck slide, lapsteel, and pedal steel guitar on the record. And then on the flip side, have moments of calm and sparsity, with room to woozily meander around.

LPs of it have been a demonstration staple on turntables around the world for over 40 years. To celebrate the lasting impact of this singular album and the legendary concert that it represents, Impex Records is proud to announce the long-awaited follow up: Saturday Night In San Francisco.

Working with hours of original 16-track live session tapes, Al Di Meola and his team have brilliantly curated this musical tour-de-force, bringing to life for the first time on LP, SACD-Hybrid and CD the explosively virtuosic final performance of Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco De Lucia at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, December 6, 1980. In the exclusive essay by music historian Charles L. Granata, Di Meola says of that final night: "It's exciting because the audience was right there with us, savoring every single note of music. And, we were ripping. It was crazy good!"

Impex worked carefully with Di Meola, mixing engineer Roy Hendrickson (SPIN Studio), and mastering engineer Bernie Grundman to recreate the magic of Friday Night In San Francisco so these never-before-released solos and trios burst out of your system with striking clarity, dynamics and technical brilliance. "Crazy good," indeed.

They have been called, amongst other things, "the best live band in Britain." Their music has graced everything from The Sopranos to The Simpsons, and celebrity fans include Irvine Welsh and the world's biggest selling author, Stephen King. They are undoubtedly the greatest American act the UK ever did produce, and their heady combination of techno and C&W, alongside a proclivity for rock 'n' roll decadence and an acute social conscience means that they are effectively a unique entity in modern music. Exile on Coldharbour Lane is the debut album by Alabama 3, originally released in 1997. The name and cover are references to Exile on Main St. by The Rolling Stones and Coldharbour Lane a major street in Brixton, South London best known for containing several after-hours clubs. Upon its release, the album received favourable reviews, including an 8.9 review from Pitchfork Media. The song "Sister Rosetta" was featured in the film "Barnyard". "Woke Up This Morning" is best known as the opening theme music for the television series, The Sopranos, which used the "Chosen One Mix" of that song.

More than a decade into one of contemporary folk’s most quietly extraordinary careers, Alela Diane returns with Who's Keeping Time? The Portland songwriter’s seventh full-length came as the consequence of intuition, coincidence, and community. “I came to the end of a season last year,” Alela shares. “My daughters had grown a bit. Alex Williams revisits his favorite ‘80s Hard Rock songs and gives them some Outlaw Country grit on his third studio album, Space Brain. Originally pressed in a limited run of 1000 numbered copies in December 1974 The Alice Island Band is one of the rarest UK folk private pressings, having sold in auction for over 600 pounds. Little would school friends Keith Hughes, Tim Phillips and Roger Moore imagine that when they formed The Conqueroos blues band back and subsequent projects like Cinderella's Party Songbook from 1967.



By 1974, Keith, Tim and Roger were ready for something special, and the arrival of Cinny - the ‘Princess’ from the principality of Wales - completed the line up for the next LP. They became The Alice Island Band and recorded Splendid Isolation - Tim, Keith and Cinny played, Roger produced and recorded the 14 songs, some of which had been conceived back in 1968.



For those into the UK folk and psych scenes who love the homemade recordings of Peter Howell and John Ferdinando's projects (Tomorrow Come Someday, Alice Through The Looking Glass, Agincourt, Ithaca...), the bare, raw sound of Comus or those impossibly rare folk albums cut through the Deroy Sound Services – but also for lovers of good crafted songs with male & female vocals and mostly acoustic performances.

For the 2024 reissue, the original 8-track, 1” multitrack tapes were transferred at a resolution of 192kHz/36-bit, and remixed and mastered. The album was produced by David Grisman and includes guests included Alison Krauss (fiddle), David Grisman (mandolin), Mike Marshall (guitar, fiddle, mandolin), Matt Eakle (flute), Joe Craven (percussion) and Jim Kerwin (bass).

This led to her immediate recognition as a banjo pioneer and to her win in 1991 of the Banjo Player of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (the first female to win an Instrumentalist of the Year award). For the 2024 reissue, the original 8- track, 1" multitrack tapes were transferred at a resolution of 192kHz/36- bit, and remixed and mastered by Matt Coles at
Compass Sound Studio in Nashville.


The album was produced in 1989 by acoustic music icon and frequent Jerry Garcia cohort David Grisman (architect of "Dawg Music," the jazz- influenced breakout fringe of the bluegrass genre) and recorded with a cast of all- star musicians at Dawg Studio in Marin, CA. Recorded 18th September 1971 at The Goodbye Summer Festival, The
Oval London, which might seem an unlikely venue for a rock concert,
however at that time, the home of Surrey Cricket was on the verge of
bankruptcy and looking for alternative income promoter Rikki Farr was on
the lookout for a large outdoor venue to help raise funds for the
humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh
The Oval, close to the city centre and with a capacity of 31,000, was the ideal
venue. America's infectious folky acoustic songs were ideal fodder for a festival,
however they were largely unheard of in '71. Their self-titled debut was released
earlier that year, however "Horse With No Name" wasn't on it and in fact was
released later in November '71.

CHICAMACOMICO is a record about loss. Over a six-month span at the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, I lost my grandmother, my mother and watched as the world fell into a 2+ year pandemic that decimated businesses, relationships and dreams. This is a record about dealing with those losses. My hope is these songs serve a salve for anyone else experiencing loss. A reminder that you are not the only one that lost a friend this year, or a parent, or a loved one. There's a special kind of hope that comes from that realization. I am not alone. I wrote this record in the February 2020 on the northern coast of Hatteras Island in a small beach town called Rodanthe. In the summer, this area is an extremely popular vacation destination packed with tourists, but in the winter, it was a desolate ghost town. The perfect backdrop for the record I was trying to write. Over the course of two weeks these songs would take shape and come to life, and it quickly became obvious that the overall theme would be dark. During my stay I realized that the town used to be named Chicamacomico until the locals changed it in the name of ease and progress. In that moment, I knew I had the name of my record. We enlisted Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Nathaniel Ratliffe, Waxahatchee) to produce the record and traveled to Sonic Ranch, a world-renowned recording complex tucked in the middle of a 1,700-acre pecan orchard, in the Texas border town of Tornillo. Over the course of ten days, we watched these songs go from simple folk ruminations into fully formed band arrangements. In my sixteen-year career I have never been prouder of a set of songs, lyrically or stylistically. The songs have weight, but they aren’t weighed down. It’s a sad record, that makes you feel good. It's a culmination of nearly two decades of work. Chicamacomico sounds like nothing we've ever done yet it sits comfortably amongst the rest of our catalog. My records are chronological observations and I feel like this record perfectly represents the highs and lows of the last few years. Playing festivals, weddings, funerals, therapy sessions, and music lessons has
become the soundtrack of life. 'Gonna Be You' landed on this planet the same
weekend as my first son so I will love that song through eternity. As she always
does, this music brought about a full revolution in my existence as a human." The
11-track project was produced by American Young, Kyle Schlienger, Lee Brice, and
John Vesley.
