The new longplayer for Austin, Texas-based Americana artist mixed by Vance Powell! - Jesse Dayton released his first solo-album in 1995, has been on tour non-stop for the last four years and is best known for his guitar contributions to albums by country musicians including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.

Jesse Dayton has been on tour non-stop for four years all over the US and Europe. His new record The Outsider was literally recorded while on tour in Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and Austin and mixed by Grammy® Award winning engineer/producer Vance Powell (who has worked with the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Jack White). About The Outsider Dayton says, It's a lot like my previous album The Revealer, but even more stripped down with some sweet acoustic guitar songs and some raw electric guitar work.' All the influences are there, the George Jonesinspired singing on Changin' My Ways,' the Outlaw country twang of Waylon and Jerry Reed on Belly of the Beast,' the angst and energy of The Clash and X on hillbilly protest song Charlottesville,' and the deep east Texas blues and Cajun rockabilly of May Have To Do It' and Hurtin Behind The Pine Curtain.' While there are many different sides to him musically, this all rolls into one big hybrid that Jesse Dayton has been honing for over 20 years. Born in Beaumont, TX, and now based in Austin Jesse Dayton's pedigree is not only impressive, but varied, to say the least. His nine previous solo albums only scrape the surface. Dayton played all of the lead guitar on Waylon Jennings record Right For The Time and on Ray Prices' record Prisoner of Love. He's also recorded with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Johnny Bush and played live with Kris Kristofferson. Dayton played the lead parts alongside his personal hero Glen Campbell, right after Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. His exploits are not solely within the country genre either, Dayton has jokingly declared onstage The Clash and X saved me from going to Foghat concerts!' After touring with Mike Ness from Social Distortion, then playing with punk icon John Doe from the band X, (the two appeared on David Letterman), Dayton got the call to play guitar for X on the bands entire North American Tour, filling in for Billy Zoom while he was in cancer treatment. Dayton has also collaborated with Rob Zombie, creating the soundtracks to three of his films The Devils Rejects, Halloween 2 (in which Dayton played the part of Captain Clegg) and Zombie's animated film The Haunted World of El Super Beasto, and wrote and directed his own film, Zombex, starring Malcolm McDowell.

Jerry Garcia created an unparalleled legacy across the American landscape, most notably in his role as a founding member, singer, songwriter and lead guitarist of the Grateful Dead. Jerry's unmistakable guitar tone enchanted multitudes of "Deadheads" throughout the band's 30-year career and beyond. The prolific nature of Garcia is evident in the breadth of albums he released throughout his iconic musical career which in addition to the Dead included work with the Jerry Garcia Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Old and in the Way, Legion of Mary, Garcia/Grisman, projects with Merl Saunders and as a solo artist. Considering Jerry was the most recorded musician of all time, there's always some overlooked gem just waiting to be discovered.

Originally issued in 1982, Run for the Roses is Garcia's fourth and final solo studio album. Produced by Garcia and John Kahn, it features several new Garcia/Robert Hunter originals, including the album's extraordinary title track, "Midnight Getaway" and "Valerie," plus choice covers Bob Dylan ("Knockin' on Heaven's Door") and The Beatles ("I Saw Her Standing There"). Recorded at the Grateful Dead's Club Front studio and Devonshire Studios in Los Angeles, Garcia and Kahn were joined on the sessions by organists Merl Saunders and Melvin Seals, pianists Jimmy Warren and Michael O'Martian, drummer Ron Tutt, horn player Roger Neuman, and vocalists Liz Stires and Julie Stafford. The album's artwork was created by legendary psychedelic visual artist Victor Moscoso.

Like many of Johnny Cash's albums from the late 50s and early 60s, Blood, Sweat and Tears is a concept album. This time around, for his 15th long player, The Man in Black sings a suite of songs about the plight of the working man. Featuring The Carter Family on backing vocals and longtime guitarist Luther Perkins, this is a killer album that features two classics he'd later record on the legendary Folsom Prison sessions ("The Legend of John Henry's Hammer" and "Busted"). Another classic from Johnny Cash on Wax Love.

The late, great, man in black made appearances on the legendary radio and TV show broadcast out of Shreveport, LA in 1955, 1959, 1962, and 1963. This LP collects recordings from all of those performances. Though we all know and love his studio hits, Cash was often at his best in front of a live audience and his performances here leave no doubt about that. With stunning performances from his Tennessee Two, the loose, humorous vibe of these recordings highlight Cash's best side. Absolutely essential.

An ethereal, unresolved presence fading into the stereo field, Hilja breathes into life with a haunted synth line and self-sampling vocal hook that instantly creates an enchanted space. Hilja is the debut album by Glasgow-based musician Maria Rossi aka Cucina Povera. Named after a style of southern Italian traditional cooking associated with precarity and making-do, a philosophy of simplicity and stoicism that applies perfectly to the spare but beautiful music Rossi experiments with. Hilja's marriage of minimal synth, field recordings and the hymnal dexterity of Rossi's vocal performances creates a new language, sometimes literally, to be spoken in some mythological Fourth World we've yet to create.
Originally from Finland, Rossi brings an acute sense of space, surroundings, and practicality to her working practice, with each composition often relying on a limited sound palette to create deeply affecting messages which transcend language. Cucina Povera's power is to communicate purely, often down to the solo-choir nature of Rossi's multi-layered voice, an achingly beautiful instrument which has seems to have an innate spirituality in its grain. The tension between the means and the end is at the heart of Cucina Povera, the invocation of a kind of secular spirituality at times using nothing but Rossi's voice. Indeed there's almost a Dogme-like purity to the arrangements: Elektra is a soothing song based around the lapping waves of Rossi's wordless backing vocals and a simple field recording of stones knocked together. Kehoitus is completely a cappella, a haunted fairytale told in glossolalia, evoking a quasi-religious experience with very little.
For music often minimal and simple there's a boldness that belies Hilja's status as a debut. Rossi allows each word, each sound and rhythm to exist in its own space, finding its own relationship with its surroundings. Mesikämmenen Veisu is perhaps the most ecclesiastical sounding composition here, burbling water trickles below a virtuoso vocal, with incredible arrangements in several registers undulating above. A meditation to relieve hunger and restriction, it's a perfect summing up of Hilja, a music ambient but completely earthed, finding enchantment in what you have to hand, the realism of magic, the magic of realism.

Boothroyd releases debut album on Fnord Communications the London / LA based label recently responsible for unearthing post-punk band Shame. Cutting his teeth in 2014 with debut EP Idle Hours on revered NY electronic imprint Triangle Records, and more recently contributing to critically acclaimed Grime LP's on 1-800-DINOSAUR (Trim) and Rinse (Maxta), Boothroyd reappears in 2018 with 'Pure Country' a typically idiosyncratic and forward thinking debut album.

The 70s band Brinsley Schwarz evolved from a steady rock band to a group which became the definitive pub rock band. The detailed sound of their fourth album Nervous on the Road and the smooth production makes it a great album to listen to. There are some excellent rock & roll songs on the album, like Happy Doing What We're Doing' and Surrender to the Rhythm'. A lot of fun and humor is to be found in the good old country tracks, but there is also an emotional side when you hear the ballads.

Brinsley Schwarz started back in the beginning of the 60's, when Nick Lowe and Brinsley Schwarz met at school. The following years the definitive line-up were changing the style of the band from pop to folk and from psychedelic to rock. The album disbanded in 1975.

J.J. Cale († July 26, 2013) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. His influence as a musical artist has been widely acknowledged by many rock musicians and is considered to be one of the originators of The Tulsa Sound, an amalgamation of blues, rockabilly, country and jazz.

Classic songs, written and performed by J.J. Cale, like After Midnight', Cocaine', Call Me The Breeze' and many more were re-recorded by other acts and artists who enjoyed success with them. His collaboration with Eric Clapton on The Road To Escondido' won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2006.

A Love Sleeps Deep's bones rattle with all the seismic changes of the last five years since the release of The Moondoggies' Adios I'm a Ghost. While the Washington band got lumped in early on with the woodsy folk-rock/Americana movement that sprung up in the Pacific Northwest in the 2000s, the core Moondoggies sound has always been rock in the more classical sense—more Pink Floyd than Woody Guthrie. A Love Sleeps Deep crystalizes that. Perhaps more importantly, A Love Sleeps Deep finds singer/guitarist Kevin Murphy at his most pointed as a songwriter. There's no lyrical pussyfooting this time around. Lacking the need to prove himself, he opens up and lays bare his feelings. Generally, I feel frustrated because there's a lot of this escapist stuff going on in rock and roll,' says Murphy. I just didn't want to not talk about my frustrations with what I was seeing around me. I have two little girls now, and I'm just thinking about where things are going. Love in my life has changed everything.' Recorded in Seattle in the spring of 2017 with production wizard Erik Blood (Shabazz Places, Tacocat, THEESatisfaciton), A Love Sleeps Deep is also an album of collaboration. The band seemingly threw each tune up in the air to see how it bounced around the room, making sure everyone got their hands on it. From around 30 initial demos, Blood helped select the most jam-heavy numbers. They had that vibe that made me love the band in the first place, but with a weathered distinction and confidence that moved me,' says Blood
