After releasing their accomplished debut album “NEW AGE PARANOIA” in 2023, THE DSM IV are following up with this limited edition, vinyl only EP “NEGATIVE UTOPIA”. Formed by Guy McKnight of the critically acclaimed and cult favourite The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, THE DSM IV has a dark sound that blends hypnotic noise-rock with synth-pop industrial aesthetics. “NEGATIVE UTOPIA” features six more synth-pop-acid-house-goth-rock-new-wave bangers. The A-Side consists of three new songs by the band. Meanwhile on the B-Side there are remixes of two tracks from “NEW AGE PARANOIA” (‘Racist Man’ and ‘Pennywise’) plus a cover of Joy Division’s iconic ‘Isolation’. I'll always jam with those guys. Once the invite was extended I knew I had to drop some money on new pedals. Haha. Not that I don't have enough already but jamming with Yawning Man means you have to build a massive pedal board and try to get the most "out there" sounds you can. At least that's what it means to me. Another aspect is once we start jamming I like to improvise riffs but keep them in mind so I can return to them throughout the jam. It was an honor to share a few hours playing with those dudes and I'm always surprised how much material we get out of it. Volumes 3 and 4 were recorded in one five hour session April 20th, 2024 in Joshua Tree, CA.

2019 Repress of one of the most outstanding records in the history of german avantpop/punk. Originally released 1981 on the legendary ZickZack label, the debut LP by Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle soon reached cult status and became one of the most important NDW / german postpunk releases ever. Active since today (and right now working on their 13th longplayer) F.S.K. were one of John Peel's all time favourites and actually did more Peel Sessions than any other band - besides The Fall, of course. The 2 Tone sound was a great period in the aftermath of Punk and included influences taken from Jamaican Ska.

Mal-One had already worked on some Two Tone collages and had them put aside for some future project. He thought it would be fun to record some tracks related to these images and sounds. The first track he recorded was an instrumental track in the style of Harry J All Stars ‘Liquidator’ which he called ‘Rude Boy Shuffle’. Initially to be put out as a stand alone track on some reggae label of some sort. He had a poem already which he called ‘Two Tone Story’, so put that on top of the ‘Ska Train Is Back In Town’ rhythm which he had put together for another song of that name. Finally ‘Rude Boys and Rude Girls Listen Up! ‘came together.

Adding to this a couple of dub mixes and we have a 6 track 12”. Mal-One thought the artwork worked better on a 12” format.

Diese Edition verbindet den unverän- derten musikalischen Kern mit einem frischen auffälligen Design das die bunte und kreative Vielfalt der Berliner Subkultur widerspiegelt:

Der Soundtrack von B-Movie erzählt von der letzten Dekade der geteilten Stadt. West-Berlin eingemauert und isoliert wurde zum magnetischen Anziehungspunkt für Künstler Musiker und Visionäre. Der Soundtrack fängt diese wilde Zeit ein von den düsteren Klängen von Joy Division und Malaria! bis hin zu den treibenden Beats von Westbam und den provokanten Rhythmen von Abwärts. Jeder Track erzählt eine eigene Geschichte und verwebt sich zu einem musikalischen Kaleidoskop das die Sub- und Pop- kultur jener Zeit lebendig werden lässt.

KingCats are a German Show Band from West Germany, formed in 1972 first as AristoCats. They became KingCats in 1976. The lineup was Peter "Pit" Kurz and Norbert "Knox" Rieger on vocals and guitar, Theo Wild (and later, Hans-Jörg Koch) on keyboards and vocals, Eberhardt "Lupp" Krieg on bass and vocals, and Rolf Knauss on drums and vocals. French drummer/singer Patrick Buchmann, alias "Sdinganuff", joined the band in 1980 upon recommandation from Claus Backhaus (Studio 2000, Mannheim, Germany) and saxophone superstar Peter Drischel, alias « Pete Tex ». Before Buchmann’s departure to Los Angeles to study at Musicians Institute, he suggested they record an LP to document some of the band’s compositions which led to the original self titled "KingCats" album in January of 1983.

This rare album was recorded and mixed in Strasbourg, France at Omega Studio by sound engineer Francis Adam, the LP showcases a variety of 80’s unique compositions by Buchmann, Kurz and Rieger. The song "Down In California" gently made its way to the public ear since. Luckily, Francis Adam found the original 16 track, 1 inch tape in early 2024 and saved the original project from desintegration. This long awaited discovery led to this freshly edited, remixed and remastered 2024 version of "KingCats". Produced by Francis Adam, Patrick Buchmann and Peter Kurz, no instruments or vocals were added, and no animals or vegetables were harmed during this process. We hope you will like this new limited edition of "KingCats" !

Die Band brach von Beginn an mit genre-konformistischen Erwartungshaltungen und machte Musik, die sich bei Rock, Punk und Kraut genauso bediente wie bei der Zügellosigkeit des Dadaismus und der Realität des Tagesgeschehens. S.Y.P.H. entstand 1977 in Solingen und begann im nahen Düsseldorf Konzerte zu spielen. Anfangs deutlich am Punk angelehnt, entwickelte sich der Sound der Band schnell weiter und wurde zusehends schwerer einzuordnen. In intensiven Jahren entstanden Produktionen, bei denen immer wieder Gäste aus der Düsseldorfer Szene um den Ratinger Hof mitwirkten, aber auch Holger Czukay von der international bekannten experimentellen Rock-Band CAN, mit dem sie zwei Alben aufnahmen. Zunächst wird die erste Schaffensphase der Jahre 1977 bis 1982 aufbereitet. Die "Pure Freude Singles" inkl bisher unveröffentlichter Songs und das selbstbetitelte Album "SY.P.H". sondern eher ein Aufruf zu den Waffen für eine Band, die noch nie lange stillgestanden hat. Nach eigenen Angaben ist „Buyer Beware“ ihr 15. Album
seit ihrem Debüt „We Are The Men“ (2009) und ihr viertes für Fuzz Club.
The Men haben eine Arbeitsmoral, die so altmodisch ist wie ihre Rockwurzeln, doch trotz der Hektik scheinen sie nie in Eile zu sein - ein Widerspruch,
der sich in ihrer Musik auf natürliche Weise auflöst, indem sie die rohe Wut des Punkrock mit der minimalistischen Strenge eines Steve Reich (oder,
außerhalb der Musik, Mark Rothko) in zenartiger Ausgewogenheit in Einklang bringen. "Buyer Beware“ ist die fünfte Zusammenarbeit von The Men
mit dem Tontechniker Travis Harrison (Guided by Voices, Built to Spill), der die Nuancen der Gruppendynamik - Nick Chiericozzi (Gitarre/Gesang),
Kevin Faulkner (Bass), Mark Perro (Gitarre/Gesang) und Rich Samis (Schlagzeug) - sehr gut einfängt. Durch die direkte Aufnahme auf Band fängt
Harrison das rohe, konfrontative Fieber ihrer Bühnenshows ein, ohne dabei ihre introspektiven Untertöne zu opfern. Das Ergebnis ist zweifelsohne ihr
aggressivstes Album seit „Leave Home“ (2011) und ihr psychedelischstes seit „Immaculada“ (2010)

90s NYC indie heroes The Van Pelt have had a lasting power far greater than so many of the other once bigger bands of that era have had. The sort of interest that has neither waxed nor waned over the decades since they disbanded, yet just mysteriously continues on despite their discography being out of print since the end of the last millennium. So what is it that sets them apart? Too soft to have ran with the AmRep or Touch and Go crowds, not hip enough to have made sense on Matador or Merge, ernest yet not histrionic enough to make it onto the “best emo bands” lists, not weird enough to be on bills with Arto Lindsay and Thurston Moore, etc. In a sense, their outsider status comes not from the wings, but from the dead center eye of the storm. The 90s were happening all around them, they were witnesses thereof, yet they emerged transcendent of it all. You Follow? Maybe it’s worth having a listen to see what I mean.
Barcelona’s La Castanya records is treating us with the first ever rerelease of the two Van Pelt albums to mark the 20th anniversary of Sultans of Sentiment, their benchmark album. They teased us in 2014 that this might be on the docket with the release of Imaginary Third, a collection of singles and unreleased Van Pelt tracks which were originally intended to have been the components of their third album, including the alt-famous “Speeding Train”. Now we’ll finally have access to their entire discography. The first album, Stealing From Our Favorite Thieves is an explosion of anthems belted out as if the war was already lost yet they were hoisting that tattered banner anyhow until there wasn’t a shred to salvage. The momentum coming out of that album had every major label in the States salivating at the possibility of turning them into the next Nirvana. Instead, The Van Pelt followed it up by pulling the van into the garage, leaving the engine running, funneling the exhaust into their lungs, and blissfully deciding to bow out of the race with the epic Sultans of Sentiment. Of course as the story goes, their intended financial flop was the exact opus that jettisoned them into the history books. Buy both albums. You’ll need them both.

Die Südeuropäer von "No Restraints" könnte man auch als "Italien's Agnostic Front" bezeichnen! Nach ihrem längst vergriffenem Debüt-Album "Stand your ground" und der Split mit "This means War" haben sie sich nicht nur live einen exzellenten Ruf erspielt - ihr Song "Streetcore Worldwide" ist längst über alle Grenzen zur Szene-Hymne geworden. Mit dem Opener "Another kind of hate" ihrer neuen 5-Track Mini-LP setzen sie ihre Mission beeindruckend fort: Fernab von Klischee's und aufgesetzter Strassenromantik knallt dieser kranken "world of deception" die ganze Verachtung und Hass von Shouter Johnny Wesson entgegen. "No Restraints" wissen wovon sie singen! "Suburban Dreams" sind alles andere als "easy living". Ihren Sound hat die Band dabei weiter perfektioniert ohne ihren Stil zu verändern. Eben "through the oldschool"! Einseitig bespieltes 5-Song Minialbum als klassisch schwarzes oder Blutrot mit Schwarz farbiges Vinyl!

Das aktuelle 2023er (Comeback)-Album von LOIKAEMIE mit Namen "Menschen"! 2022 erschienen mit "Lumpenmann" und "Tief im Herzen" die ersten neuen LKM-Songs seit 2007 (digital und als limitierte 7"-Single), dazu gesellenen sich noch "Was Soll Die Ganze Scheisse?" und "Lasst Uns rein", alles Vorboten des fünften Studioalbums "Menschen" und schon auf einer Menge Playlists zuhause. Kein Wunder, dass nach 16 Jahren die Erwartungen riesig sind, bei den Fans wie der Band selbst. Und ,Menschen" ist nicht weniger als ein Manifest dessen, wie Punkrock im Jahr 2023 klingen muss: Rotzig und melodisch, kompromisslos und reflektiert, politisch und gut gelaunt. Alle zwölf Ohrenfräsen atmen den unverkennbaren LOIKAEMIE-Spirit und doch ist ,Menschen" ein Riesenschritt nach vorn. Schon der überaus modern klingende Opener "Wenn wir alle so wären" fegt alles weg, was derzeit belanglos auf Allgemeinplätzen durch den Punk pogt, vom anschließenden hymnischen Titeltrack bis zur abschließenden Selbsteinladung "Lasst und rein" bleibt die Energie ganz oben, gleichzeitig ist das Album vielschichtig wie nie zuvor in der Bandgeschichte. Zu Streetpunk- und Rock'n'Roll-Brettern gesellt sich Reggea, Sprechgesang, Ballade und Melodien, die sich auch im Pop nicht verstecken müssten. Statt markiger Statements erzählen die Texte pointierte Geschichten, teilen durchdachte Gedanken zu aktuellen Miseren in der Welt, der Szene oder des eigenen Kopfes. Aber es gibt auch keine Scheu vorm hymnischen Refrain, den fortan volle Konzertsäle gemeinsam intonieren können. Oi!, was sind das knallende Hits!

"Volcanic Tongue" war ein Plattenladen, der von 2005-2015 in Glasgow von David Keenan und Heather Leigh betrieben wurde und zeitgenössische DIY-Musik aus der ganzen Welt in kleinen selbstgemachten CD-R-Auflagen veröffentliche. Parallel versuchte man, vergessene Künstler aus der Vergangenheit ins Rampenlicht zu rücken, die ihre Musik oft als Privatpressung veröffentlicht hatten. Der Laden war für seine wöchentliche Mailingliste bekannt, in der Keenan enthusiastisch über Neuankömmlinge rappte, insbesondere über die Platte der Woche, die den Spitznamen "tip of the tongue" (Zungenspitze) erhielt. Dieser eklektische Sampler mit 20 "tips of the tongue" - von Outsider-Synth über Psych-Folk bis zu kaputtem Rock'n'Roll, aufgenommen zwischen 1968-2013 - ist eine Hommage an eine lebendige und vielseitige Underground-Avantgarde. Life Won"t Wait, the 4th Album oft he Band, was released on June 30, 1998, and was the last Rancid Album for 16 years to be released through Epitaph Records until Honor Is All We Know (2014). After its release, the Band moved to Frontman Tim Armstrong"s label (a sub-label of Epitaph), Hellcat Records. Although not as successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves, the Album peaked at Number 35 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts, making it one of Rancid"s highest ranking Albums ever.

Die Idee zu dieser Platte war schon sehr alt. Oft haben wir damals beim Proben ganz frühe Werke von uns ausgegraben und wir hatten immer vor die ollen Kamellen mal zu recorden, denn es gab von den meisten Stücken nie Aufnahmen. Zunächst wollten wir die Songs nur für uns aufnehmen - so als Erinnerung - doch dann haben wir uns entschlossen, sie doch zu veröffentlichen. Da wir mit Dritte Wahl im Jahre 1999 elfjähriges Bühnenjubiläum feierten (1988 - 1999), wurde die Delikat Platte auch eine Jubiläumsscheibe. Sie gehört im Plattenregal vor die Fasching in Bonn, dann stimmt"s!

Der FotoGraf comes from Oberhausen/Germany and has played in various indie/garage/punk bands. With the new album he has transported himself back to the 80s. This is where his beginnings and first ideas lie, which he brilliantly implemented musically. Post-Punk at its best.

Daniel Lewis aka The Recluse, Death Posture or Holt merged raw strings with primal percussion to forge a sound of his very own. Lewis now returns to Frigio with "Tabula Rasa¨. The entrancing title piece is a heady brew of intricate guitars, smoky basslines and a pulsing drum patterns. The uplifting melody indie wave of “Breaking Free” follows, with Lewis’ vocals haunting from an echoing distance. The low slung “Conclusions are Nil” gives way to the eastern infused harmonies and underhand dealings of the soundtrack streaked “Military School.”

Distortion drenched, the short and intense “Obedience” shrouds sorrowful vocals in drum machines, strings and haze. Those pain ridden lyrics are central in the closer. If you know anything about me – as in Andrea, the record label’s head – you know I have a thing for Oi since I was a teenage skinhead.

And with Avant! being a coldwave/synthpop label, our next release couldn’t be more special. No Filter are three children of the French region of Dauphiné, active in the black metal scene for 20 years through different projects.

They created No Filter with the aim of exploring punk, Oi and coldwave sounds. They started by singing in English but after their first demo they decided to opt for French to improve their lyrics by singing in their own native language. Themes addressed in their songs are violence, hatred, party nights, the countryside, their roots and friendship. “Synth punk, bagarre et blousons noirs” in their own words. Musically speaking they somehow fit in the current Cold Oi French scene (Bromure, Syndrome 81, Cran, Kronstadt) but they exaggerate the synth/wave element ending up sounding like one unprecedented, fresh as hell mix between New Order and The 4 Skins.

If you think you’ve heard this one before it’s because one year ago they self-released a 10-track cassette called “Sans Filtre” which is exactly what we are pressing now on vinyl for the first time because this was simply too good to stay only on tape forever.

To make this even more special we have recruited Canadian multi-instrumentalist and artist Nakkabre (Conifère, Spleen, Vespéral, HazeHound) to do a brand new artwork and spice things up for the occasion!

The highly acclaimed U.K. post-punk band Joy Division was originally called Warsaw. Formed in Manchester, England in the late 1970s, the group consisted of Ian Curtis on vocals, Bernard Albrecht (aka Sumner, aka Dicken) on guitar, Peter Hook on bass and Stephen Morris on drums. Hook, Albrecht and Curtis hooked up at a local concert and later formed the group Warsaw. The band’s name was taken from a David Bowie-Brian Eno composition, “Warszawa”. The 5 bonus tracks on this album are demos cut by the group at Pennine Studios in Manchester on July 18, 1977 with Steve Brotherdale on drums. The first eleven tracks presented here were the result of a recording session for that album that took place in early May of1978. Rehearsals leading up to the session resulted in two new songs being added to the group’s existing repertoire: “Interzone” and “Transmission.” “Interzone” was based on the backing track of the song “Keep On Keepin’ On,” to which the band added their own lyrics. The result was a song distinctively their own. “Transmission” was written by the band during the final week of rehearsals. The first verse contains a quotation from Alistair Crowley’s The Book Of Thoth. The two recordings are interesting renditions of songs which would later became famous.

Music journalist Oscar Smit described these tapes in the 80s - in his column Dolby of the legendary Dutch magazine Vinyl - s.a.: “Big city music, metropolis beat, drum composers, funking basses, nervous rhythm guitars, radio and TV sounds in the background and intonationless vocals.”

Ein Livealbum (nochmal) ist eine recht offensichtliche und doch für Talco passende Idee zum Jubiläum. Im Jahr 2022 hatten Talco beschlossen, ein Mischpult für die "Videogame"-Tour zu mieten. Die Möglichkeit, jedes Konzert mitzuschneiden, verlockte, und am Ende der Tournee gab es etwa 35 Sets, aus denen ein echtes Live-Album werden konnte. Und genau um "echt" geht es. Es durfte nichts gefälscht, neu aufgenommen oder überspielt werden, nichts bereinigt werden. Das moralische Diktat, live darzustellen, wer Talco ist, mit der Musik, Entschlossenheit, den Witzen, dem goliardischem Unsinn, der Herzlichkeit der Menschen, all das musste erhalten bleiben und daher "wahr" sein, nicht perfekt oder künstlich, sondern wahr. Ein echtes DIY-Projekt, an dem die gesamte Talco-Familie mitgewirkt hat: von Tontechnikern Matteo "Houdini" Piccolo - der alle Live-Auftritte der Tournee aufgenommen hat - und Edoardo "Dodi" Pellizzari (Overdrive Recording Studio), der das Album abgemischt hat, bis hin zu den Beiträgen der gesamten Band, die während einer anderthalbjährigen Europa-Tournee aufgenommen wurden. Talco in eigenen Worten: "Wir hätten nie gedacht, dass wir noch einmal ein Live-Album machen würden, aber vielleicht haben wir es nach weiteren 10 Jahren nötig. Viele Bands erreichen ein Ziel, und feiern es mit einer Best Of-Compilation, aber die Greatest Hits einer Live-Band kann nur ein Live-Album sein." Und hier sind nun die essentiellen Songs der bisherigen 20 Jahre-TALCO-Karriere, aufgenommen zwischen 2022 und 2024 in unterschiedlichen Städten, eine traumhafte Set-List vor den besten Fans der Welt.
