ODW were also distinct in that they employed a punchy, energised and even slightly aloof take on electropop that simultaneously stayed true to their punk and rock 'n roll upbringing, an authenticity that drove them to play all electronic instruments live without the aid of any sequencers. Their signature track Lawnchairs instated ODW in the clubland etha by becoming a instant dance floor hit and remains a high point in the history of the synthesized pop. Produced by the mega-talents of both David Spradley (Funkadelic) and Colin Thurston (Duran Duran, Iggy Pop) this version of Moving Windows takes their sound that one step further.

The Men are Rich Samis, Kevin Faulkner, Nick Chiericozzi and Mark Perro. We created Devil Music in our practice space over a weekend in January.

We wanted to give ourselves something enjoyable to listen to with this record...Something that had out personality in it, not just another record to get reviews, to get into festival, to get on TV, to participate in some sort of endless, winless game. This isn't a campaign.

Jordan Lovelace (mem, of Pampers) engineered and recorded Devil Music. Jonathan Schenke ( mem. Of Easter and engineer of 100's of records) mastered the sessions on a Neve console in New York. These fine gentlemen knew we were after a raw four track sound. They Used our strokes on the tape to get us where we wanted to go. Every record sounds a bit different than you think it will.

Some newer things came along for the ride like cassette cut ups, damaged vocal cords from years of yelling, a saxophone and of course the ten new songs. Some old ideas are still in the mix: the tracks were done live, including the vocals. The packaging/artwork was designed and produced by us

In 2014, Sacred Bones Records launched the series Killed By Deathrock to document an entire scene of bands that haven't yet received proper recognition.

The thread that holds these groups together as deathrock bands comes down to their willingness and sometimes compulsion to reveal and explore the darker side of their psyches. Night-soaked dirges of fatality, despair, and horror were rampant, rooted in that sublimity that is found on the edge of the horror genre, as famously developed by Edgar Allan Poe — an edge that relished in misery and openly recognized the inevitable end of any human life.

group A started in Japan in 2012 by Tommi Tokyo (synthesizers, electronic rhythms, vocals) and Sayaka Botanic (violin, tapes, voice). Since the beginning this project has been developing a very unique sound and image blending performance art and DIY post-punk. Their music could be described as a clash between UK industrial and Japanese underground from early 80s. Their shows are very conceptual and stagey with the use of looped projections and original outfits. Group A have been playing their mix of spiky noise, no wave minimalism and sinister cabaret on the road for the last four years. It's taken them from Tokyo to London and their present home in Berlin.'Wire Magazine, July 2016. After some releases on digital format, cassettes and self produced CDs, including a 2-track collaboration with Tom Furse (The Horrors), their last album '70 + a =' is finally pressed on vinyl with a brand new extra track ('Deadly 16'). Acting as the first release since 2015's sold out I Am Material' tape, Royal Hush' reveals a sharper and more emphatic feel to the band's already unrelenting output. These new songs have been recorded with long standing engineer and friend Rory Attwell and mixed by both Rory and Ben Greenberg formerly of 'The Men' who the band met and found an instant affinity for on their 30 date US tour last year. H. Grimace's integral guitar pairing of Marcus Browne and Hannah Gledhill now masterfully hone in on their part shoegaze, part post-punk compositions which lays the foundations for the enigmatic duo, from Yorkshire and Melbourne respectively, to make their mark this year with a vigorously captivating live show to match. Uniform formed in New York City in 2013 when old friends Ben Greenberg (ex-The Men, Hubble, and the producer/engineer responsible for much of the Sacred Bones catalog) and Michael Berdan (ex-Drunkdriver, York Factory Complaint) reconnected and realized that they had evolved to a similar place musically. Wanting as intimate an experience as possible, they decided to keep the project a two-man show, eschewing a live rhythm section for programmed drums and low-end synths, augmented with Greenberg playing guitar and Berdan handling vocals. The collaboration quickly yielded a raw 12", followed by a full-length, Perfect World. The Ghosthouse12", is the first Uniform release on Sacred Bones Records, and it will be followed by a full-length in early 2017.

Ghosthouse shares a basic configuration with the previous Uniform releases, but the tools have evolved far beyond their initial drum machine and bass synth setup. These songs have grown from a broader palette of sounds — shots, explosions, implosions, impacts, ricochets, collapse, the sounds of conflict, war, and destruction that we witness every day. The result is the most sonically confrontational Uniform material to date, and Berdan's lyrics, largely inspired by his lifelong battle with insomnia and depression, match them for relentlessness.

The three songs on Ghosthouseshow the incisiveness that Greenberg and Berdan now have at their command. The title track addresses the feeling of lying awake at night and wondering if it's still possible to make peace with an estranged friend after their death. Waiting Period,' a riff on the Hubert Selby Jr. novel of the same name, is the internal dialogue of a man waiting for his handgun application to clear so he can kill himself. The Symptom of the Universe' cover pays mostly faithful homage to Black Sabbath, but trades the original's summer skies of love' for something far bleaker. These tracks reveal the incredible range that's possible within the Uniform musical template, and they provide a fascinating glimpse of what's to come.

HOGG first began performing in Chicago during 2014. Working as a duo, they played raw and minimalistic pieces using crudely-strummed guitar, scrap metal, floor tom, and drum machine. While their music takes influence from early industrial, no wave, noise, and punk music, they have devised a sound and style that is uniquely their own

Operation Ivy's contribution to the history of US punk rock has never been in doubt. Not only did they invent and define the entire ska-punk subgenre, but they also featured Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, i.e. half of the members of one of the most successful punk bands ever: Rancid. Un-defined by genre, Ravioli Me Away's high energy, dangerously ambitious and delusional jazzy-post-pop-punk-hip-funk sound with stylistically schizophrenic motifs span all-known past, present and future human cultures and sub-cultures. This is social realism soaked through with a heady dose of fantasy, idiosyncratic poetics, keyboard flurries and vocal vicissitudes described as 'vintage drag-queen Bananarama Youtube footage played with twice the sass and in double time with an incredulous broadband connection reflected in the eyes of a much overworked and downright exhausted Julie Burchill on acid.'
 Ravioli Me Away are Sian Dorrer, Rosie Ridgway and Alice Theobald and more recently, have recruited Monika Kroll as an intermittent member.
Since forming in January 2013, they have performed extensively at various events, venues, festivals and galleries in the UK, France, Switzerland, Germany, Czech-Republic and Holland. They have also recorded and released records and appeared on radio shows on 6 Music, Resonance FM and NTS Radio.
Theobald, Dorrer and Ridgway have a mutual interest in identity, politics, human relationships, love, gender, class and current affairs, and use performance, art and music as a means to explore, debate and express such interests using of metaphor, clichés pop references and repetition. To date they have together written and produced up to 30 songs and have performed over 80 concerts, each high-energy and curated to reflect a different theme or character inspired from everyday life ie. City workers, beauty queens, painter and decorators, sportsmen and beatnik poets to more abstract interpretations of everyday life such as luggage, snacks and e-bay. These themes are evident in costume, visuals and stage presence. More recently they have been developing their own individual alter-ego/characters for their performances.

Somewhere in the dusky afterglow of the 80s Detroit underground, Brad Horowitz and Odell Nails stumble into the live show of local post-punk outfit Grief Factory, fronted by the enigmatic singer Bob Sterner. Unbeknownst to these three players, this encounter would lay the groundwork for the formation of one of Detroit's most preeminent musical secrets, Spahn Ranch.

Blending the moody goth minimalism of their art-punk predecessors with the unique lo-fi drone intuition that had forsaken most hardcore punk audiences, Spahn Ranch became a staple curiosity in Detroit, opening for one of Jesus & Mary Chain's first North American shows, and always searching for their place within the 80s underground circuit. In 1986, the band's singular album output entitled 'Thickly Settled' was released on Insight Records run by kindred spirit Eric Cope...the front man of seminal 80s post- punk outfit Glorious Din and publisher of the likeminded fanzine Wiring Dept. After the album's initial release, Spahn Ranch would take on bassist Hobey Echlin and perform alongside countless luminaries such as Killing Joke, Swans and Psychic TV.

Once the decade came to a dramatic close, Spahn Ranch's brief touring stints would wind down to a halt and their ranks dispersed into the various avenues of adult life, taking with it the memories and experiences of its reserved members. Sadly, the year 2008 brought with it the passing of singer Bob Sterner, leaving the legacy of Spahn Ranch to its surviving cast. 30 years after the creation of 'Thickly Settled,' Dais Records releases this recent compendium of the band's work, which celebrates their impact and reinterprets their output for a current audience.

'Back to the Wood' is a collection of previously unreleased studio recordings, cassette rarities and select tracks from the long out of print 'Thickly Settled' LP, all remastered and supervised by Odell Nails and Brad Horowitz with exclusive liner notes from now rock music journalist Hobey Echlin, along with rare photos and other ephemera, released digitally and in a limited edition of 500 vinyl copies.

Kilwater was formed in Poznan in 2011. Initially, the band played cover songs and their own, surf-rock styled compositions. After several member changes, in 2014 a five-person (previously associated with various formations from Poznan) line-up was established: Marcin "Boogie" Wieczorkiewicz - guitarist, leader and author of most compositions (also known as DJ Boogie, former member of Danse Macabre, Brakdanych and Hellow Dog), drummer Adam Nastawski (Plum, a.k.a DJ Czlowiek), bassist Grzegorz Ksiazkiewicz (Snowman), keyboardist Marcin Szczesny (since 2014, also a Snowman member) and saxophonist Michal Fetler (Tsigunz Fanfara Avantura, TonyTony). Debut album was created in Albert Hofmann's Studio (ahstudio.pl), in Poznan. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Bartlomiej Frank. The album consists of eleven instrumental pieces and two songs, featuring Gosia "Siara" Witkowska and Peter J. Birch. The band describes their music as a psychedelic movie surf rock. On the calm surface of rock'n'roll basin, Kilwater encounters a storm of progressive rock and jazz improvisations. Guitar sails - supported by a solid, rhythmic mast - are being tossed by the squall force of saxophone and synthesizers. Psychedelic wailing sirens and nymphs can be heard in the musical depths of Kilwater music, which is often backed by funky echoes of 70s action TV series.

It's called "Siberia Reloaded 2016" and is ' a work in which Aperture reincidono their first album in 1984 with the addition of 6 new pieces inspired by the sounds and moods of the time. The album sees the collaboration of Gianni Maroccolo ( sounds , treatments , noise ) . CD Edition

Their second for album 4AD, Merchandise have stripped back to the core of Carson Cox (vocals, electronics), Dave Vassalotti (guitar, electronics) and Pat Brady (bass) to make 'A Corpse Wired For Sound'.

The trio travelled to Rosà, Italy to start proceedings, recording half in a studio there and the rest at home, in Tampa as well as in Cox's newly adopted bases of New York and Berlin.

The album's metallic title is inspired by a science fiction short story by JG Ballard but equally sums up the band's current state of mind, We were 'reborn' as a rock band for our last record ('After
The End),' says Vassalotti, and then we straight-up died again. It couldn't last. The result is this distended corpse responding to you from both sides of the Atlantic, forever singing in spite of
everything.'

Featuring the tracks 'Flower Of Sex' and 'End Of The Week', 'A Corpse Wired For Sound is available on CD and LP.
