Classics or true hidden treasures, this selection of nineteen songs is symbolic of the musical dawn that Spain experienced during the decade marked by the return of democracy and by the creative freedom initiated by Punk music.

Levellers - Letters from the Underground

The Levellers are releasing a series of Limited-Edition Coloured Vinyl albums spanning their 30 year career, some for the first time ever on Vinyl.

Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop is the fifth studio album by one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock, Jeff Beck. Together with keyboard player Tony Hymas and drummer Terry Bozzio he recorded this album. They won the award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance at the 1990 Grammys for this release. The instrumental fusion tunes are diverse and on no other album Jeff tried out mixing so much musical styles. His excellent guitar play and the memorable melodies marks this release as one of his finest albums. 'Behind the Veil' is a subtle song, leaning on a reggae groove and Beck's lower register statements. The more sensitive tune 'Where Were You' makes Beck almost sing the melody on his guitar. The album is wonderful produced and a strong addition to his impressive catalogue.

The first pressing of Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop is available as 1.000 individually numbered copies on transparent blue coloured vinyl.

Look My Way is the third studio album by the hardcore punk band Madball. On the raw hardcore album they focusing on the hard life of the streets. Full speed guitar riffs expanding the screams/raps by Freddy Cricien. The overall power of the music is heavy and in balance with the depth of the lyrics. From the breakdown in 'Cut Off' to the aggressiveness of 'Moment of Truth', it's all truly Madball.

The American hardcore punk band Agnostic Front formed their side project Madball in the late '80s. Frontman Roger Miret let his brother Freddy Cricien perform the lead vocals.

Low was the first Testament release not to feature two of its founding members Alex Skolnick (guitar) and Louie Clemente (drums). But even without their company they created a true masterpiece. They replaced Skolnick with death-metal prodigy James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Disincarnate), and put drummer Mike Tempesta (Exodus) behind the kit. The dark and raging sounds represent some of their best work. This thing is utterly crushing from the second you hit 'play,' full of choppy, claustrophobic riffs that are somewhere between thrash and death metal.

Testament is often credited as one of the most popular and influential bands of the thrash metal scene, having sold over 14 million albums worldwide. In their early years they supported legendary acts such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Anthrax, Megadeth, Overkill, Judas Priest and Slayer. They also gained critical recognition for embarking on the European Clash of the Titans tour with Slayer, Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies. To this day, the band continues to record and perform live.

LTM is proud to announce a deluxe double vinyl reissue of Seven Songs, the seminal debut album by 23 Skidoo, originally released in February 1982. 500 copies only will be pressed on clear vinyl.

Originally released on Fetish Records as a mini album, Seven Songs topped the indie charts and immediately established 23 Skidoo as a groundbreaking musical force on the post-punk landscape. 'Intoxicating - one of the most exciting records I've heard since Unknown Pleasures' (Paul Morley, NME, 1982); '23 Skidoo conceived of funk as a sinister energy, and Seven Songs still sounds blood-curdlingly intense' (Simon Reynolds, Rip It Up & Start Again, 2005)

Digitally remastered, this deluxe 2x12' set contains an additional 35 minutes of material, including cult single The Gospel Comes To New Guinea/Last Words (issued on 12' in 1981) and their only radio session for John Peel, broadcast in September 1981 and featuring four exclusive tracks never recorded elsewhere. 

Following the release of Seven Songs, Skidoo issued a series of hugely influential records fusing post-punk, dub, industrial, world and hip-hop styles, including the singles Tearing Up The Plans, Coup and Language, and albums such as The Culling Is Coming and Urban Gamelan. In 2000 the group returned with a self-titled album, 23 Skidoo, and in 2015 issued a soundtrack album, Beyond Time, a documentary film by Alex Turnbull about his artist father William Turnbull.

The Durutti Column - M24J (Anthology)

M24J (Anthology) is a collection of valuable passages recorded by The Durutti Column between 1979 and 2011 for various iterations of Factory Records, including poignant tributes to manager/mentor Anthony H. Wilson.

Available as a double CD set (and also a double vinyl), M24J (Anthology) includes selections from The Return of the Durutti Column, LC, Another Setting, Short Stories for Pauline, Without Mercy, Circuses and Bread, The Guitar and Other Machines, Vini Reilly, Obey the Time, Treatise on the Steppenwolf and A Paean to Wilson.

'The Durutti Column was Tony's baby,' says Durutti mainman Vini Reilly. 'We were the first act signed up to his Factory club night, and the first band signed to Factory Records. Tony became my mentor, somebody to look up to. He was a very tough character, yet he was very gentle. He had many sides. The biggest arguments with Tony were that he wanted to stop me singing with my schoolboy lyrics and my dreadful voice.'

Reilly's music remains resolutely unclassifiable, and sounds better and better with each passing year. 'Don't listen to the form,' he insists, 'listen to the content. Don't listen to the style, the tradition, the technique, just the content of the music. Then judge. People say The Durutti Column is this or that. I don't care so long as we make good music. There's so much good music around. Don't bother with form. Just enjoy.'

Bonus tracks on the CD version include three tracks recorded live in Leeds on 7 October 1980, these being the earliest preserved professional in concert recordings by Vini Reilly. The cover portrait of Vini Reilly is by Mark Warner.

The bonus 7' included with the vinyl package features two previously unreleased live recordings. One is a cover of Albatross by Peter Green, recorded in 2004; the other is Spooky Tune, recorded with Poppy Morgan at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester in 2011, Vini's last major concert to date.

The remastered set is housed in a double gatefold sleeve printed on white matt board and includes a digital copy (MP3).

Garage Class - Terminal Tokyo

'Garage bands suddenly obtain cult status and become the antithesis of their initial appeal'

Garage Class were a group of reluctant outliers who produced one of the finest contributions to the wave of UK DIY music that emerged during the late 70s and early to mid-80s.

Hailing from Alsager in North West England and comprised of Tim Shutt (vocals) Phil Murphy (lead guitar) Clive Williams (guitar) Lynne Sanders (bass) and Phil Bourne (drums / bass on studio recordings) Garage Class originally went by the name of The Pits before their then manager Steve Hurt imposed an alias which, though unpopular within their ranks, would nevertheless reflect the shambolic art they would eventually capture on their first and only single.

As The Pits the group offered a loutish inflection on glam-punk flamboyance, evoking Johnny Thunder hitting the north and remaining disowned yet undeterred in a dreary old boozer. But as Garage Class the group distilled a roughcast and homespun primitivism that felt quintessentially their own. In this they proved too unruly to be assimilated into any wider scene. Early gigs descended into acrimony and recognition proved elusive. Yet what they managed to make back then now sounds like an extraordinary article of underdog ambition.

Released in 1984, four years after it was originally recorded, the Terminal Tokyo single is an unlikely triumph of exceptional messthetic punk. Though raw and unpolished the songs here are precariously pop-minded and indisputably anthemic. The titular A-side reveals the dry and detached drawl of Shutt aka The Subliminal Kid, a sharp, jaded and poetic voice that has some of the most iconic lines never heard in punk. Accompanied by second-hand guitars, on-the-fly handclaps and a chorus like a terrace chant this is the cult hit that never was, a heroically artless masterpiece that has all the ragged character and misfit euphoria of Swell Maps and The Buzzcocks if they were more impulsive and boisterous, and left to their own devices in the remote margins of a Cheshire town. The original B-side is here substituted for I Got Standards, a track that, until now, has somehow remained unreleased. An ideal twin to Terminal Tokyo there's the same brusque and dog-eared quality to the band's delivery, as well as the same upfront emphasis on strong hooks and insistent momentum. Yet again, Shutt is on impeccable form, perfecting an inflated, adolescent antagonism that has all the sardonic, malcontented charm of similarly 'shirty' buggers like Dan Treacy (Television Personalities), Patrik Fitzgerald and Mark Perry (Alternative TV).

Although never accepted in their own time both tracks represent a brief but inspired moment of fervent imperfection, one that epitomized the best of a diffuse and autonomous underground movement spearheaded by The Desperate Bicycles and built upon by the likes of Amos & Sara, The Homosexuals, The Cleaners From Venus and Family Fodder. Like them Garage Class were situated at a point where punk, art, humour and a sense of stubborn independence all intersected.

In the years since Terminal Tokyo has accumulated a retrospective appeal among certain trusted circles, with Jon Dale celebrating the single in his exhaustive and essential Story of UK DIY for Fact Magazine, and original copies regularly changing hands for a foolish forty quid or so. With this inaugural release on the Outer Reaches label Terminal Tokyo is not only restored for the very first time but given a worthy expansion courtesy of JD Twitch (Optimo).

Continuing his own fascination with the fringe history of UK DIY - documented on his own outstanding compilation Cease & Desist: DIY! (Cult Classics From The Post Punk Era 1978-1982) and in his re-edits of Crass Records classics for an early release on RVNG INTL - Twitch reinterprets I Got Standards as an incisive, dubwise outing that pictures Jaki Liebezeit and Muslimgauze on a bender in England's provinces, tasked with remixing the raw product of local punks. A new slant on Garage Class' crude magnificence, built to play loud on contemporary soundsystems.

Although the latter part of 1980 spelled the end for Garage Class with members moving on to other projects (Bourne fell in with The Colours Out of Time, Murphy went on to front The Regular Guys and Shutt eventually left to form Happy Refugees) this reissue attempts to give their fleeting time together and the unique single statement they made the treatment it deserves. If this means Garage Class have obtained cult status, their initial appeal remains. Just listen for yourself.

If you don't know Sick Thoughts, you don't know punk. The band is the mighty Drew Owen. Baltimore born and bred, he then up and moved to the swamps of New Orleans while still a teenager. The general consensus was he'd be another casualty of The Big Easy decadence, and would soon be seen hitting up tourists for money on Bourbon Street with a dog on a rope. But somehow he got hooked up with the best (worst) folks in the city and kept making great music. That, and the fact that forty-ounce bottles just bounce off his head, have kept him alive. Rock and roll romance and the promise of socialized health care sent him to the (imaginary) home of Killed By Death punk, Helsinki, Finland. Which makes perfect sense—this album
is like the perfect KBD record, full of buzzsaw guitars, machine gun drums and hooks that hit like a tire iron. Owen's brand of aural early-20s angst, with doses of Zero
Boys, Reatards, and early Crüe, mixed with the stench of the streets, has never sounded better. This album clearly puts Sick Thoughts on top of the punk heap. It's Owen's world—get in it!

The Brighton-based 5 piece who met at the city's University are comprised of: Ollie Judge (drums/lead vox), Louis Borlase (guitars/vox), Arthur Leadbetter (keys), Laurie Nankivell (bass) and Anton Pearson (guitars/vox).



'The Dial' is a song that's existed in the bands live set for a while, and after label-head-honcho Dan Carey saw the band play live he thought he could help along with the band give it a fresh feel - speeding it up, deconstructing and rearranging it.



On the song itself the band say, 'the song is about a dear loved one - suffering a horrible illness in hospital. At the point the patients' blood is being taken by the nurse we imagined them all turning into vampires and sucking the blood from the patients. All I could think about was the red 'dial' of the weighing scales on the floor as it was happening - which is where the main lyric came from.'



The resulting track is outstanding. Less Brighton Lanes and more Virginia Plain, the track channels post-punk royalty such as Talking Heads with Verlaine Television-esque guitars and a vocal evoking 'Losing My Edge' era LCD over a NEU drumbeat. Also brought to mind are more modern contemporaries like Parquet Courts and enigmatic wunderkind Tom Vek. We love it.



On working with Dan/Speedy the band recall, 'it was one of quickest and most fast-paced experiences we've had in the studio. Despite feeling nervous we didn't feel over-rehearsed at all - and then suddenly Dan told us we had the take! THE AINTS! THE CHURCH OF SIMULTANEOUS EXISTENCE

Forty years after the release of one of the great Australian debut albums of all time Ed Kuepper returns with a brand-new band and a brand new contender for the title.

When the heavily lauded, heavily influential first incarnation of The Saints split in 1978, Ed Kuepper, the sonic architect and primary songwriter of the original band and their three albums: the proto-punk classic (I'm) Stranded (1977), the r'n'b infused Eternally Yours (1978) and the brass-laden genre-defying Prehistoric Sounds (1978) left behind a plethora of unreleased material, however, rather than attempt to salvage what could have been Kuepper chose to move on forming the legendary Laughing Clowns performing and recording in Australia and the U.K. from 1979 through 1984 before embarking on an ARIA award winning solo career that has kept him touring and recording steadily since 1985.

Come 2017 though, and the 40th anniversary of The Saints seminal debut Kuepper was persuaded it was time to revisit and celebrate the music of his youth. Recruiting like-minded souls in Sunnyboys bassist Peter Oxley, drummer Paul Larsen Loughhead (The Celibate Rifles / The New Christs), jazz pianist Alister Spence and trumpeter and brass arranger Eamon Dilworth the band performed as The Aints! Play The Saints ('73 - '78) covering Kuepper's tenure with the band and all the classics including This Perfect Day, Know Your Product, Swing For The Crime and (I'm) Stranded to large crowds and a hugely appreciative response. But rather than purely recycle those formative songs Kuepper began to introduce the new-old material to an audience eager to hear what else Kuepper had been sitting on since 1978. A further positive response from the music department of the ABC saw these two iconic Australians join forces and bring to light what is in essence, the long lost fourth album by The (original) Saints.

Indeed a fantastic find! This steaming gem is a rocking, groovy and intriguing musical escapade! A love at first spin album! This obscure multifaceted album was recorded in around 1976-78 but remained unreleased until now! CHARLSTON GROTTO was a unique, dynamic American band from the late 70s with already more than 15 years of common music up their sleeves, prior to this album. Formed in 1960, they started out as a sort of juvenile surf, and rock'n'roll with a pre-punk aura. They became a well shaped garage, and soul rock band over the years. These tracks from 1976 and 1978 are the vivid proof of their development into a tantalizing musical ensemble that was not so easy to categorize. Funk, soul, powerful rock and the rawness of garage music of the 60s intertwine. This album is intense, haunting with a psychedelic edge that goes beyond the current mainstream funk of the day to challenge the listener, but still give him enough joyful grooves and catchy parts to just rock along to the songs. Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa are the closest comparisons, if allowed. Their complex arrangements with layers upon layers of percussion instruments and twisted moments effuse attitude all the way. Funk, fusion, soul, rock, jazz are among the ingredients of this powerful sound cocktail. A very colorful affair rich in little details which are the actual heroes of the record. All these details add so much depth to the already convincing funk rock tunes. The leadvocal is unique and shows an affinity to punkrock. He is a non trained vocalist who shouts when necessary, his melodies are sparse but insistent. Only a few years later after the decline of the first wave of punk rock, many former bands of the genre opened their hearts towards funk and dance music to create what was named - New Wave', but CHARLSTON GROTTO are certainly one of the pioneers in this field. The mixture is adventurous and the playing is skillful, I dare say on par with the best acts on the big stages. A great soundquality comes with this very first release of these invigorating album. 'Raw sewage' is an album that demands more spins on your turntable! It could appeal to people who love the earliest POLICE and later CLASH albums and it certainly is fans of late 70s punkfunkfusion. A long lost classic of the North American underground of the late 1970s.

The Toy Dolls followed up the success of their debut, the 100-mph Ferris wheel ride "Dig That Groove Baby", with the equally kinetic A Far Out Disc. Having already established themselves as the class clowns of the European punk scene, the band upped the ante by increasing the number of skits and segues and included a frenetic cover of the surf classic "Wipe Out". Frantic punk lunacy at it's best!

Heather Leigh takes her Throne as queen of pedal steel with a suite of heartbleed ballads cauterised with burning riffs. After the rawness of its precursor I Abused Animal, Throne is a record of late night Americana and heavy femininity; intimate love songs smoked in sensuality. The songs on Throne are woozy, gorgeous and uncomfortable, smothered in thick layers of bass but lifted by multitracked vocals. These are rich song forms that stand in contrast to the stripped down steel in her duo with Peter Brotzmann.

Prelude To Goddess sashays in wearing leopard print jeans under the twinkling fluorescent illuminations of the British seaside, like Brighton Rock with extra bass. It is followed in by Lena - arguably Leigh's Jolene - a perverse love song soaked in a subversive sexuality, weighed down with a heavy pulse. Soft Seasons is anchored with sunken beats shrouded in wailing, growling steel and an earwormy melody.

Gold Teeth, the longest track on the record, crests and breaks in waves; ecstatic peaks balanced and echoed by melancholic troughs. It soars on an updraft, and from cosmic heights dives seaward into a gnarly and riotous pedal steel breakdown, before catching the breeze again.

Days Without You and Scorpio & Androzani are shorter, intimate songs, in the latter the synths seethe and the steel bows and bends as Leigh's voice falters above a Greek chorus of shadows and reflections. But this isn't autobiography, and Throne departs on Days Without You, a confrontationally unfinished romantic song, anxious with half-thoughts and missed connections. It glides into the night on stilettos leaving unanswered questions, in a fug of psychic disturbance and lovesick sensuality.

Leigh's artwork (which she photographed and designed) is a visual mirror of the songs on Throne. It is an album of cosmic echoes, abstractions and introspection, of characters and stories that make up Leigh's first best pop record, its melodies and hooks set alight with the fiery core of her unique and distinctive pedal steel.

A compelling abrasive shoegaze band, dealing with the aesthetics of contrasting sounds. Heavy like a gloomy dream yet soothingly vibrant. The vulnerable soft floating voice of Manchester's Isa Holliday underneath layers of grungy shoegaze soaked noisepop, seeking shelter from an f'ed up world. They debuted live in March 2017, released 'Ease' their first e.p. in May 2017 through Flood, White Russian and Dingleberry Records. Played Roadburn festival 2017 in The Netherlands, Fluff fest in Czech Republic, toured Germany, Belgium, France, Holland, UK, Hungary. Played shows with bands like Brutus, Oathbreaker, Sleepmakeswaves, Turnover, Nothing.... all of this in their first six months of being an active band. The band recorded their debut LP 'Aurora' towards the end of 2017 at The Ranch Production house in Southampton with Neil D. Kennedy who produced bands like Milk Teeth, Creeper, Boston Manor,... 'Aurora' was mastered at The Atomic Garden by Jack Shirley known for his work with Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, The Smith Street Band.... Slow Crush are bridging boundaries with their own distinct sound between Shoegaze, Postrock, indierock, Heavypop, postpunk and Grunge.

Formed in 2009 Constant Mongrel begun as a two piece (Tom Ridgewell and Hugh Young) creating immediate and at times improvised songs in an old dishevelled laundry in inner city Melbourne. Inspired by the more flamboyant side of protopunk such as Electric Eels and Chrome, over the next few years the band added members Amy Hill (bass) and Andrew Murray (guitar) building upon their intense sound and developing a unique humour. Consisting of members from Terry, Woollen Kits, Nun and Taco Leg, Constant Mongrel has several previous releases on RIP Society Records and Siltbreeze Records.

After three years since their last release Constant Mongrel have developed a diverse collection of songs gradually over time. Recorded in the summer of 2017 in a studio, produced by Tom Hardisty and Mastered by Mikey Young, 'Living In Excellence' brings a more formed sound and aesthetic with striking riffs and catchy rolling bass over an often unhinged, vibrant rhythm section. Added for this on particular tracks is a fried, effected saxophone with warm synths and analogue sounds added to enhance the LP's thoughtful textures. The new record has a sharper British Post Punk expression reminiscent of the usual suspects in Wire, Blitz, The Mob, Siekiera and The Fall, while also exploring elements found outside of the genre from Les Rallizes Dénudés to Youth Crew Hardcore to Country music and beyond, there's greater depth and sensibility found amongst the angst. James Vinciguerra (of Total Control fame) designed the cover which is a perfect depiction of this modern day punk record with its sharpness, colour and feeling of slight discomfort. The bands lyrics and themes vary in subject matter. Songs of certain romance, the monotonousness of self-loathing, the joy of a riot, atrocity of western religion, an abundance of a fresh modern fascism, white-middle-class-self-entitled guilt and the beauty in misinterpretation. But behind every idea the tongue remains continually in cheek as the bands humor seeps through and prevails in its sound. The truth is that none of us are truly Living In Excellence and this false mantra is prominent throughout a record that is over flowing with character, bleak satire and grunt.

Mit brachialen Tempowechseln und sägenden Gitarrenriffs sowie klebrig-süßen Arrangements und ungestümen Ausbrüchen zwischen Hardcore, Punk und Alternative stiegen die Pixies gegen Ende der Achtziger zu Independent-Superstars auf. 1987 nahmen Frank Black & Co. bei einer dreitägigen Session 17 Songs für das Demo "The Purple Tape" auf. Eines dieser lila Bänder fiel Ivo Watts-Russel in die Hände, der die Pixies schließlich bei 4AD unter Vertrag nahm. Acht der Demo-Stücke landeten auf der EP "Come On Pilgrim", der ersten Veröffentlichung der Band. Im Jahr 1988 entstand das Debütalbum der Pixies, "Surfer Rosa", produziert von Steve Albini. Wieder hielt sich das Quartett nicht lange im Studio auf, in vierzehn Tagen war alles im Kasten. "Surfer Rosa" enthält "Where Is My Mind?" und damit den sicherlich berühmtesten Song der Band. Das Debüt begeisterte die Kritiker, "Melody Maker" und "Sounds" zeichneten es als "Album des Jahres" aus. Auch rückblickend gilt die Platte als eines der wichtigsten Rockalben jener Zeit. Zum 30-jährigen Veröffentlichungsjubiläum bringt 4AD die beiden Meilensteine zusammen mit dem 1986 mitgeschnittenen Radiokonzert "Live From The Fallout Shelter" noch einmal als Triple-Album heraus.

HANS-A-PLAST wurden 1978 in Hannover gegründet und zählen bis heute zu den
herausragenden und prägenden Punkbands der damaligen BRD. 1979 wurde ihre erste LP
veröffentlicht, auf dem sich so brillante Songs befinden wie: "Es brennt", "Amerikaner",
"Rock 'n Roll Freitag" oder "Man Of Stone". Das Album avancierte im Nu zum Klassiker
und war so etwas wie eine Initialzündung für den noch in der Frühphase steckenden,
klischeefreien Punk Anfang der 80er Jahre.
