Jazz band The Deku Trio is back for an encore in Zelda & Jazz II, an 18-track smooth jazz Legend of Zelda tribute album. Featuring intimate piano, upright bass, and mellow drums, The Deku Trio reimagines the music of The Legend of Zelda with influences ranging from lounging bossa nova to coffeehouse jazz. Zelda & Jazz II features music from across The Legend of Zelda series. I won’t revamp the credentials of guitarist Drew St Ivany (Laddio Bolocko / Psychic Paramount) here but you do need to know that he is 1/3 of The Exorzist III. If you are familiar with either of those mentioned bands (and if you are not please quickly give yourself a history lesson/catch up), the maxed energy attack they have created on ‘Gospel Jamming vol. 1’ will be aural bliss to you as it rips and explodes from the opening track ‘Jabber’. Throughout a musclebound throbbing bassline takes the lead role and anchors these hypnotic heady jams, as a vortex of pulsating guitars and driving grooves propelled by drummer Nick Ferrante that are tight and locked in (and The Exorzist III GROOVE), it's disorientating and punishing but at the same time blissful. The music created is single-minded, it exists at higher elevations of decibel, intensity, motion and spills freely over the walls of genre, lost in the joy of the classic combination of excess volume and repetition with crushing levels of heaviness all enveloped in a white noise fury. Like Glenn Branca’s wall of guitars, the shamanic cacophony of The Boredoms, psych-melters Comets On Fire and so much in between - It is punk in its fury, noise in its rash extremity, and psychedelic in form. For anyone that likes to get lost in sound be forewarned: this is one of those 'peak experience' brain-melters, just light a match and see it combust spectacularly.

Exploding on to WONDERFULSOUND from somewhere between the mid 90’s and the vinyl record diggers vintage soundtrack scene, The Hi-Fires drop their debut collection of musics, spreading their sonic Gris- Gris far beyond their own island life.

The origins of this project lies deep within the man responsible for pulling The Hi-Fires together, respected vibester & go to drummer Rupert Brown. His drumming career has seen him work amongst such icons as Roy Ayers and his debut production saw him guide and launch the dust bowl soul of Angelina’s Vagabond Saint back in 2017 on WONDERFULSOUND. With The Hi-Fires his take on Hip Hop is obscenely forthright but his productions and arrangements pull each track through the continents of his experiences.

“The record is set in an exotic world of “ French Kung fu “ in the 1970’s : to create the ultimate soundtrack for a low budget movie shot on location in La Havana Cuba” Rupert informs .

The musics on the album are diverse there’s strains of the 90’s Bristol scene with songs Honest Lies, Beautiful and Heart in my Mouth which all feature actress & choir master Tallulah Smith. But then there’s the swampier grooves with temptress / vocalist Severine Mouletin ... Je veux te transmettre, C’est pour qu’un jour The Sea and the Sun, all with Stereolab but with leanings more to obscure soundtrack records that get hunted down!

But there’s also a lighter, dare I say Balearic, attitude going on here with Le Bas, brit jazz funkers Working Week or early EBTG spring to mind. Maybe this is obviously going to happen with the calibre of musicians involved. Terry Callier’s sax and flute player for 25 years Gary Plumley sax , flutes , baritone clarinet ( co conspirator and co producer and writer of half of the record ) sharing much of the wind section with Andrew Norman who plays trumpet and many brass instruments. The tremendous and generous provider of low end / Rafe Spencer anchors the beats with the double bass.

Rupert explains “there’s exotic brass instrumentation that takes jazz and hip hop influences, mixing them with the African 70’s tones and taking inspiration from the magical musicians from the north and south of the Americas"

Taken from the movie ‘Le Bel Été’, written and directed by Pierre Creton, this new album from The Limiñanas is the first OST written by Lionel Limiñanas. The main theme ‘One Blood Circle’ features French pop legend Etienne Daho.

Lionel Limiñana about writing this soundtrack:
"We met Pierre during the Shadow People tour, he came to the concert and wrote to us asking for music for his film "Le Bel Été". Pierre sent me the script. I thought I didn't have time to work because of the tour but I took a three-day break to give it a try. I wrote a theme and then two, three...... I had a work base and I was able to continue at the hotel or in the band's van, which explains why the music is very electronic. I invited Ivan Telefunken, Pascal Comelade's Catalan guitarist, to play on some melodies. When we arrived in St Malo for La Route du Rock festival we met Etienne Daho with whom we had wanted to work for a long time. We played the script to Etienne and the demo of "One Blood Circle", the main theme of " Le Bel Été". Etienne worked on the text and quickly returned to the studio in Paris to record his voice and choirs. The O.S.T. was done."

Originally released in 1987 alongside the teen horror/comedy film of the same name, cut here on red vinyl, this soundtrack features tracks from iconic artists such as Roger Daltrey, Echo & The Bunnymen.

Comedian Stewart Lee and director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast Of London) investigate a missing piece of punk history. Robert Lloyd, best known for fronting cult Birmingham bands The Prefects and The Nightingales, has survived under the radar for over four decades. But how, if at all, does Robert want to be remembered? Dean Honer is a Sheffield based musician, producer and founding member of many iconic electronic music bands including The All Seeing I, I Monster, The Moonlandingz and The Eccentronic Research Council. He has worked as a producer for bands such as The Human League, Add N to X and Roisin Murphy.

Kevin Pearce is a songwriter from Essex. He has received plaudits for his work from The Independent, The Guardian and Mojo magazine. His music has been used on HBO programmes in the USA as well as BBC TV shows in the UK.

Dean explains the background and inspiration for the album:
“The idea for The Sound of Science had been in my head for a number of years. Being a parent of young kids I endured a lot of very cliched and awful children's songs that were attempting to combine education and entertainment. These quickly became a form of torture to me, something that the CIA might use in covert operations to flush out a drug cartel from their hideout. It became apparent that there was a desperate need for informative songs and music that were appealing and bearable for both children and their parents.

I recruited my friend Kevin Pearce, (who I have produced and collaborated with on various projects over the years), to bounce ideas off and who could put together a nice series of chords and could sing! Which helps when writing songs. Kevin is from an acoustic folk background and I'm more of a one finger synth player in the Human League tradition. I thought it would be interesting to mix the folk and electronic element together for children’s songs. Something that harks back to both the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the 60's and 70's and also the folk songs of TV programmes like Play Away, public information films and music from various weird and oddball kids TV from that era."

Im Januar wurde bekannt, dass Thom Yorke den Soundtrack für Daniele Luchettis Film "Confidenza“ komponiert hat, eine Adaption des italienischen Dramas, das auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Domenico Starnone basiert. Der Film feierte seine Premiere auf dem Internationalen Filmfestival in Rotterdam und wird am 24. April in die italienischen Kinos kommen. Produziert wurde der Film von Indiana Production und Vision Distribution, der Vertrieb erfolgt durch Vision Distribution. Erscheinen wird der Soundtrack am 26. April zuerst digital. Am 12. Juli folgt die Veröffentlichung auf Vinyl und CD. Schon heute erscheint das Musikvideo zur Single "Knife Edge" mit Elio Germano und Federica Rosellini in den Hauptrollen, das eine neu geschnittene Sequenz aus dem Film sowie einen B-Seiten-Track mit dem Titel "Prize Giving" enthält. Der Intro-Track "The Big City" wurde von Yorke im Februar in seiner Playlist für BBC 6 angeteasert.

"Confidenza“ folgt auf Yorkes vorherigen Score zum "Suspiria“-Remake. Dafür erhielt Yorke eine GRAMMY-Nominierung für den besten Song für visuelle Medien erhielt. Produziert von Sam Petts-Davies (Suspiria, The Smile Wall Of Eyes), arbeiten Petts-Davies und Yorke bei "Confidenza“ erneut mit dem London Contemporary Orchestra und einem Jazz-Ensemble zusammen, zu dem auch Robert Stillman und sein Bandkollege von The Smile, Tom Skinner, gehören. 2019 steuerte Yorke Musik zu Edward Nortons "Motherless Brooklyn“ bei und 2022 schrieb er zwei Songs für das Serienfinale von "Peaky Blinders“.

Zuletzt war Yorke mit The Smile (Tom Skinner, Jonny Greenwood, Thom Yorke) auf Tour, die im Januar ihr zweites Studioalbum "Wall Of Eyes“ veröffentlichten,
das auf das 2022 erschienene Debütalbum "A Light For Attracting Attention“ folgt.

Thomas Newman became the ninth composer in the James Bond series history. His score for the 2012 movie Skyfall won the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. In 2013, it became one of two Bond scores to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Skyfall (2012) is the twenty-third spy film in the James Bond film series. It features Daniel Craig in his third performance as James Bond, and Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's villain. The movie was directed by Sam Mendes and centers on Bond investigating an attack on MI6. The attack is part of a plot by former MI6 agent Raoul Silva to humiliate, discredit and kill M as revenge against her for betraying him. The film sees the return of two recurring characters to the series after an absence of two films: Q, played by Ben Whishaw, and Moneypenny, played by Naomie Harris. Skyfall is the last film of the series for Judi Dench, who played M, a role that she had played in the previous six films. Skyfall is available as a limited edition of 1500 numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl. This 2LP package comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes a 4-page booklet.
