Recorded in 4 sessions in 1958 at Columbia's 30th Street Studios with a large group that included Cannonball Adderley, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones, this album is Miles Davis and longtime collaborator Gil Evans' brilliant arrangement of the 1935 Ira Gershwin classic Porgy and Bess. Miles Davis was one of the all-time greatest interpreters of standards and with the arrangements from Evans, this album might be the best example of Davis' interpretive prowess. A beautiful piece of 1950s jazz on Wax Love.
