Auf "Eat Your Heart Out" hat die Band nun neun neue Stücke im klassischen The Klinik-Sound versammelt: kalt, bedrohlich, karg und mitunter ziemlich beängstigend schallt es aus den Boxen. Die harten Sequenzer und Tribal-Rhythmen werden zur emotionalen Grenzerfahrung und Dirk Ivens leiht dem Musik gewordenen Trauma eine angemessen durch Mark und Bein gehende Stimme. Yelle was at Pitti W for Maison Kitsuné's fashion show (Florence, Italy) on January 10, the perfect occasion for her to present for the first time her new beautiful song ' L'Amour Parfait'! Produced by GrandMarnier and Aeroplane, the track is held by Yelle's unique and hypnotic voice and a dark and persistent beat that reminds us of the 1980's electro pop.
After releasing the highly praised album 'Safari Disco Club' in March 2011, Yelle is back with the single « L'Amour Parfait », her third collaboration with Kitsuné, after « La Musique » and « A cause des garçons ».
Out on March 18th, the EP contains excellent remixes of « L'amour Parfait » by Baadman, the very young and impressive 17 years old french dj, Sticky K, The Phantom and Ruben Mandolini who offers us a housey version of the song.

The beats range from about 130 bpm to 180 bpm. This is music for dancing and more besides.
*Some have compared it to the music of Squarepusher, Underground Resistance, Drexciya or Aphex Twin or labels such as Warp, Planet Mu & Rephlex - but this is a very rough approximation. Such subjects of comparison vary enough already, without considering the bonus intensely ambient set you will find towards the end of the album. Sterling work, bring on the next volume!

Dominique Guiot « L'oiseau de paradis » (1974)The composition of this piece was inspired by the rules of cinematic screenwriting. Indeed, the possibilities of an electroacoustic music studio are very similar to those found in the audiovisual field (particularly editing). Based on this similarity, I thought it would be interesting to compose a series of scenes, dramatic atmospheres and suddenly interrupted soundscapes. (D.G.)
Pierre Boeswillwald « Nuisances » (1971)Starting from microphone recordings of numerous sounds, the author chose not to systematically use the "best ones'. Therefore this construction always tried to refine itself whilst constantly being polluted by interferences which are nuisances. As in nature, man seeks to refine his environment but destroys it through his mistakes.
Rodolfo Caesar « Les deux saisons » (1975-1976) This piece results from instrumental improvisations: the first one with the Baschet brothers' glass organ, the second one with a frequency modulation device assembled by Bernard Dürr, who co-created the Trièdre Fertile (Fertile Triad) with Pierre Schaeffer. These were two input channels for a kind of "anecdotism" I was interested in. (R. C.)
Denis Smalley « Pentes » (1974)
The main features of the piece evoke vast landscapes, with their ascents and descents, hence the title, 'Pentes' (both French and Latin, meaning slopes, inclines, ascents). Most of the music was created by transforming instrumental sounds, but there are also synthesized sounds. However, the only recognizable sound source is the Northumbrian Pipes, whose drone is responsible for the slowly evolving harmonies out of which its haunting traditional melody appears. (D. S.)

The idea of the Traces series is to unearth from the GRM Archives short, forgotten or ignored pieces of music. This second volume, which gathers works prior to 1976, features the 'early' works of four composers who each went on to leave a unique trail in music. In addition to reflecting the extraordinary vitality of the musical experimentation of bygone times, Traces aims to reactivate the audibility to such pieces, some of which have never been released before.

After the success of last year's long player, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, El_Txef_A and Fiakun join forces once again to release a set of remixes taken from the album. The remix package will be released digitally and on a special 10 limited edition vinyl, featuring two remixes from the brains behind Permanent Vacation as well as Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. The digital release will feature two extra tracks including a deep disco remix of 'Feeling Idiot,' from Austin-based Andres Aguirre as well as the more melancholic re-interpretation of 'A Place To Fall Apart' by Berliner Peter Armster. This pack will be released ahead of the second studio album from El_Txef_A, scheduled for release sometime mid 2013.

Medical Records presents the groundbreaking electronic classic "Explorer" and its sister LP "Yellow Power" by Tony Carey. (a keyboard whiz from California) In the mid-late 1970's, he moved Germany and began working in Peter Hauke's studio. Here a reissue of the highly-sought after "Explorer" LP along with "Yellow Power" as a 2LP package. Rumor has it that "Explorer" was intended to be demos for the "Yellow Power". Eventually both of these brilliant LPs were released on X Records in 1982. "Explorer" is the more stripped down almost proto-techno meets synthed out Italo disco while "Yellow Power" has a more polished, well-rounded and produced sound with a different array of instrumentation and alteration in mood. The tracks on "Yellow Power" seem to convey a futuristic sci-fi Japanese motif which possibly explains the beautiful airbrushed samurai warrior on the original cover. Some tracks have sparse vocal samples such as on the lovely "Peking Duck" and "Queen of Scots". Comes 160 gram vinyl (LP1 is green and LP2 is baby blue) in limited edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies. Great package!!

Soosh is the recording name of Soroosh Khavari, an electronic music producer born inIranand raised inScotland. After EP releases and appearances on numerous European record labels (including remixes by Lapalux and Jameszoo) Soosh's debut long player 'Colour is Breathe' will be released with Error Broadcast. The name may sound familiar for his critically acclaimed remix of Shlohmo's 'Couch', which was released by Error Broadcast in 2011.
The artist follows up his debut effort - 2011's Soosh EP - with 'Colour is Breathe'. In many respects, it continues exploring the folds that fuse blissful textural ambience and humanised beats, whilst adding a euphoric pop-twist that marks his distinctive sound. The artist's trademark low-swung melodic hip-hop and organic instrumentation, ever prevalent in his previous releases, is countered and enhanced by moments of dreamy and endearing delicacy. Elegant sound design runs deep within the songs but it is also at play in the carefully processed vocals. The record balances lilts that are reminiscent of Nathan Fake, Nosaj Thing and How to Dress Well, with the mellow and lyrical pop silhouettes of Cocorosie and The xx. The result is a musical jamboree, creating a unique album that must be experienced rather than just heard. We are left with not so much a record as a mood itself.


Soosh's proclivity towards perfecting beats that characterise his taste is obvious from the first listen. 'Colour is Breathe' is both intricate and intimate; its wispy notes and pastel melodies at times make the album an intimate headphone affair. Equally, however, these are songs to be shared and appreciated with friends, as well as on discerning dance floors as slow, organic dance music. Soosh's latest effort is a wander through the beat-making science that was born out of LA andLondon, bringing a fresh perspective on melody and texture with honeyed pop sensibilities. The artist's younger sister, Carmel Khavari, contributes vocals that brim with longing and love, gracing the record with an allure that makes it somewhat indefinable for either genre or gender. Here it is: an album in which words provide warmth and cadences are coated. There is motion and reflection, reverie and resolve, and all seems to drift in a dusky, intense and truly heart-warming haze.

2013 is the debut album from Justin Velor, a vibrant Technicolor collision of styles ("you might call it a musical Dr. Frankenstein," he says) incorporating everything from Vangelis-inspired synth drones and nocturnal acid house rhythms to tender folk melodies and psychedelic flourishes. "I wanted to make a fantastical soundscape with colourful dynamics and a soul," he explains.

Trésors is a parisian synth-pop duo based in Paris and operating since 2010. Adrien & Adrien meet while attending numerous noise &
post-punk concerts and decide to start Trésors to try out the electronic experience. 6 months later, they release their 1st EP
called Visionnaires (produced by Saycet) and receive high media attention. They rapidly start to remix artists such as Thieves Like Us,
Of Montreal, Arnaud Rebotini (aka Blackstrobe) & Juveniles to name but a few. Kitsune officially release their remix for 'We Are
Young' (Juveniles) as well as Blackstrobe Records for their reinterpretation of Another Time, Another Place (Arnaud Rebotini).

The same year, they embark on a European Tour (Paris, London, Milan, Berlin, Oslo) and play successful gigs alongside acts such
as Toro Moi (Carpark), Teengirl Fantasy (R&S, Hivern), Puro Instinct (Record Makers) & Suuns (Secretly Canadian) to
name a few. Filled with new experiences, they quickly compose what will become Missionnaires, their new 6 track 12'' planned for release
on November on desire. Influenced by the electronic music scene (from Modeslektor to Burial), they also inject their 'indie' approach & the
spirit from the 70's and 80's scenes. Missionnaires was composed in Paris and produced by Chester Gwazda (Future Islands, Dan
Deacon) in Baltimore (USA), where they also played shows, as well as in New York & Washington. The perfect blend of indie & electronic,
Missionnaires will appeal to post-punk as well as cold-wave and electronic fans.

Hailing from the Belgian capital of Brussels, Squeaky Lobster is known to his mother as Laurent and used to play bass in rock and jazz bands. Nowadays however you're more likely to find him pushing buttons on stage ensuring the system in turn pumps out his heady concoctions of chest-pummel- ling bass and skittering beats. Mind you having said that he can still be found playing bass in the band South of No North, who have released an album on Belgian label Humpty Dump- ty. Squeaky Lobster keeps things close to home having released all his material on another Belgian label, Vlek records, also based in Brussels. It is in fact on Vlek that Squeaky Lobster took flight (huhu, flying lobster) first with a split 7" along- side Russian producer Lapti - AMAI #2/4 - and in 2011 with a solo 10" release titled Will-O-The-Wisp EP.

Darkstar first coalesced in the underground, electronic thrum of London's nascent grime and dubstep sphere in the mid 2000s, growing from attending the now-fabled early FWD club nights to releasing a pair of game-changing 12' singles on Kode 9's fledgling Hyperdub label. What followed was a fitful and productive period culminating in a discarded album's worth of tracks, the crucial introduction of vocalist James Buttery to the fold and, finally, the release of their debut full-length 'North', to wide acclaim. By this time Darkstar had aptly been framed as a very intriguing proposition, one of the first proper 'bands' to rise from the UK's current electronic underground.
The band decamped to a house in the West Yorkshire countryside, secluding themselves from the distractions of London and writing as a trio for the first time. Ultimately, 'News From Nowhere' is a reflection of the time they spent together there. Says Young, 'Every place warrants a story. There are moments in people's everyday lives, no matter how subtle, that can be documented and talked about in great detail. The instances spiral and ascend and take on their own course, altering the perception of how even the slightest change in a day can be felt deeply.'
Eventually proceedings moved from the band's makeshift digital studio in their house to producer Richard Formby's (Sonic Boom / Hood / Wild Beasts) dusty studio enclave, full of tape machines and analogue synthesizers. The songs that had been inspired by English prog rock and obscure techno and created as loops based on the band's affinity for hip hop production ('literally everything from Lex Luger to Geoff Barrow') grew into sublimely arranged works. In the end, the album arrived at an altogether singular existence, delving into the moments between moments and elevating them to epic, kaleidoscopic heights

Die Songs auf Ulrich Schnauss' viertem Soloalbum schweben mühelos zwischen Electronica, Ambient und Shoegaze. Viele bekannte Musiker - von Coldplay bis Depeche Mode - zählen zu den zahlreichen Fans des Produzenten und Musikers. avantgardistische Visionen besonders gut. Neuestes Beispiel:Neustadt - ein 2010 gegründetes Duo bestehend aus Mirko Podkowik und Lukas Heerich. Live erschaffen Neustadt unvorhersehbare Konzertinstallationen, die nichts mit einem klassischen Bandkonzert gemein haben. Podkowik realisiert das Visuelle. Heerich liefert den Sound und die Performance - treibend, industriell und zeitgemäß. Das Künstler-Duo versteht sich als gemeinsamer Arbeitskreis und das Projekt Neustadt als eine Ästhetik, die eine Weltanschauung sichtbar machen soll. Die konkrete Ausformung ist die Momentaufnahme eines gemeinsamen konzeptionellen Prozesses. Ein Prozess, der sich nie offenlegt sondern in seiner unmittelbaren Wucht der Eindrücke entlädt. 2010 veröffentlichten sie ihre Debüt LP - Drohgebärden' als eine auf 300 Stück limitierte Vinyledition über das Düsseldorfer Label Themes For Great Cities und Slowboy. Die darauf enthaltenen Stücke und die herausragende grafische Gestaltung lassen das Zentrale Nervensystem so unweigerlich direkt zucken, dass sich ITALIC Recordings ihrer annehmen musste, um sie neu gemastert der ganzen Welt zugänglich zu machen. The long-awaited next chapter in the Emeralds discography is finally here, emerging as a sophisticated progression in both sound and structure.

Now this is what you can call great fun. Amidst all the numerous releases somewhere between funky house and uplifting disco arrives finally a record again that will reach consensus trans-cending genres. Already in April The White Lamp released their first 12" on British quality imprint Futureboogie. Back then nobody knew that this project consists of no one less than Darren Emerson (Ex-Underworld) and befriended singer Pete Josef from Bristol. This fact doesn't make "Make It Good" better. Because this is as good as it gets. At least if your intention is to bring a club to the point of ecstasy in the year 2012. The hypnotic bassline alone hits the bull's eye. But the way Josef's vocals make an anthem out of the track is classical dressage. And it's a matter of course that pro-producer Emerson provides an arrangement that simply just
works, everywhere and all the time.

'Are you ready for a journey into the mind of a girl who's dedicated her heart to music', Fran asks daringly on 'May I Introduce Myself', the first song of her anticipated first solo LP, Frantastic. For those following contemporary electronic music, little introduction is necessary: the 33-year-old psychologist is known for her dreamy house collaborations with husband and producer/ DJ Oliver Koletzki, with whom she co-wrote hits such as 'Hypnotized' and the successful album Lovestoned. The time has, however, come for Fran to bare her musical self and let the wild desire to create run free. Far from the totalitarian fist of the major labels, Frantastic was born in complete autonomy with the help of newcomer producers Oded K.dar (MiMi Müller-Westernhagen / Eddy Stevens - Moloko) and Martin Seyer (Krabbz Soundsystem). The result is an impressively personal journey through the mind of an intelligent, emotionally rich songwriter, pitched against a diverse sonic backdrop of pop, electronica and folk. Literally exploding, the aforementioned opener bursts of colour and confidence. Here, Fran's uplifting lyrics ethereally flow over poppy electronica beats, climaxing in a chorus that proclaims 'If you believe you can do anything!' - a tongue-in-cheek mission statement Fran is clearly out to prove on Frantastic. 'Sunglasses' starts with a crunchy downbeat as Fran's mesmerising voice lyrically considers the tension between anonymity and exposure in celebrity culture, while the song peaks in a piano-driven chorus. Thing

Rock Bottom' is a triumphantly doomed airstrike of rhythm and blues, while 'Octopus' emerges from beneath a thick cloak of electronic smog and dub textures, melding swathes of low-end frequency and shimmering atmospherics against blissed-out incanta tions and snaking sax solos.....

'Autopilot' is the second single taken from the album 'Light of the North '. Miaoux Miaoux's flair for an insistent and imperious melody strides to the fore. A glittering synth-fuelled hymn to heartbreak, 'Autopilot' incorporates elements of bass and hip-hop, while recalling the stylistic flourishes of Boards of Canada.
The white label 12' EP is limited to 300 copies. The EP features remixes from Auntie Flo/ESA, Tom Furse (from Horrors), Echo Park & Discopolis.
Auntie Flo/ESA kick off with a straight-up, no messin', dancefloor banger African style: earthy conga loops, majestic sounding King Tubby tape delays and deep, dubby chamber reverbs collide to deliver that vintage,
big desk production feel.
Next up is Tom Furse from The Horrors. A simple phrase for you: jaw dropper. Tom goes supremely Gaian on this one, masterfully summoning exquisitely blissed out, choice cuts of shamanic synth work.
Man of the minute Echo Park (with trailblazing releases on Skream's imprint Disfigured Dubz) reverses the vocal Dubstep template and fashions a huge PA tune..

A close listen will reveal their assurance as musicians, but their experience derives from playing DIY shows in underground warehouse lofts, rather than going to school. There is a place for each note in their songs. Complexity disappears behind a veil of familiarity.

A close listen will reveal their assurance as musicians, but their experience derives from playing DIY shows in underground warehouse lofts, rather than going to school. There is a place for each note in their songs. Complexity disappears behind a veil of familiarity.

Two of Australia's most talented prospects have collaborated on a stand alone release. Overachieving producer Flume and left-field crooner-on-the-verge Chet Faker will release the Lockjaw EP worldwide on via Future Classic. Having worked together on 'Left Alone', the plan for a collaborative release was hatched when they toured together on the 2013 Laneway Festival. Shortly after, the two headed to Sandy Point and Narre Warren Victoria for a four day writing binge. The result is a three-track release that unites the strengths of each artist - the classy, understated beats of the ARIA Producer of the Year (Flume) and Chet's incredibly soulful voice and keen ear for a melody.

Our encounter with The Eyes In The Heat (aka Oliver Ho and Zizi Kanaan) was not out of the ordinary. Ivan Smagghe was a
fan of Oliver's other projects (Raudive and his label Wires, multiple releases on staples such as Klang, Cocoon, Pokerflat etc.)
and he just let him know.The surprise came when Oliver mentioned that he was working on a 'rockier' project with a lebanese-
american singer into 'cowboys and brutal poetics'. Red flag rose instantly.
