From a discarded CDR, rediscovered in a dark corner in a sun kissed flea market in Versailles we bring you some rare and unheard personal edits from the archives of the city's Pierre Yves Marie. A name not familiar to many, Pierre was a locally known DJ and switched-on music lover whose interests in Disco, Italo, HI-NRG and early house sounds led him to visit the USA - particularly the midwest - numerous times throughout the late 80's and early 90's. It was here, inspired by the DJ's he heard firsthand in Chicago, Detroit and other places he visited that he became inspired to create his own versions and mixes of tracks to play at his small Disco parties at the city's "Les Caves Du Roi", an intimate club space that allowed Pierre to create his own atmosphere where he attracted a hedonistic, stylish and very mixed crowd to hear him play. These edits were rediscovered a few years back, languishing in a shoebox at said flea-market, dumped after Pierre's struggles with the 'party life' in the late 1990's and he was eventually tracked down via some solid detective work and local knowledge. He has, after much discussion, very kindly allowed a limited amount of these unique DJ tools to be pressed onto wax. Being a keen follower of technology, he had originally transferred his reels and tape edits onto CDR's in the early 1990's, which lends a lo-fi and raw vibe to these edits. We feel this surely adds charm and beauty to these roughly hewn personal mixes and we are lucky to be able to share in this small piece of history.

OVERVIEW: To celebrate 40 years since their formation in Leeds in 1978, Soft Cell, aka Marc Almond and Dave Ball, release some brand-new remixes this summer on their own Big Frock imprint.

Soft Cell have been synonymous with the club scene since their debut single release Memorabilia in 1981, (produced by Mute Records' Daniel Miller) which is widely cited by many dance music luminaries as the first ever acid house record. The band cut their teeth and built their notoriety in clubs across the world, from Leeds Warehouse right across the Atlantic to New York's legendary Danceteria. Second single Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go went on to become one of the biggest club (and chart) hits of all time, reaching Number 1 in 17 countries later in 1981. The first true electronic UK duo, the band have sold over 30 million records throughout their career and have been covered or sampled by artists as diverse as Rihanna, Nine Inch Nails, a-Ha and Marilyn Manson, and well as influencing many others. The EP features remixes chosen by two internationally-renowned UK DJs, both massive fans of Soft Cell. Hifi Sean has remixed Insecure Me, B side to 1982 single Torch, as well as So, flip side to the single What. Jon Pleased Wimmin has remixed one of Soft Cell's earliest compositions, A Man Could Get Lost.

While intended as a club tool for DJs, Soft Cell are making available a strictly limited number of the 12' picture disc EP, for their fans, on a first come, first served basis. These mixes will not be released on any other format, and do not feature on the upcoming Keychains & Snowstorms: The Soft Cell Story box set.

Official remastered re-issue of Jorge Ben's masterpiece from 1981 - Absolute Brasilian classic!

Following up on their debut full length release, 79.5 drops a new and revamped version of their dance floor classic "Terrorize My Heart (Disco Dub)". A tune that leaves no room for gray and finds the ladies of 79.5 walking the line between vulnerability and forthrightness. Setting out with admonishments of love and infatuation that are quickly checked by the bluntness of women who've lived in the Big Apple for years, 'is it her or is it me, that's how it's gotta be'. Remixed and remastered with a new intro for the DJs, producer Leon Michels and engineer Jens Jungkurth managed to take an already smash of a tune to a higher level. For the B side we enlisted one of underground hip hop's brightest stars, Tall Black Guy. His 'Bounce Remix' of 'Terrorize My Heart' is just that. The Detroit producer takes the tune to a different level and turns it into a monster of a head-nodder. Loose drums and chord stabs provide backing track while vocal samples through out keep the track super hype. An easy dancefloor killer for the Hip Hop / R&B jocks.

IDA007 is a vinyl release entitled 'Pagan Rave EP' by label's co-founders Uninc & Kolomensky coming up from the emerging Moscow scene.

Title track opens EP with breakbeat groove, flute solos and slavic vocals combined with progressive and acid lines to deliver unexpected mix of pagan folk music and rave rhythms.

'Ancient Tool' is another original track on the A-side with tribe vocal samples combined with acid and punchy rhythm section filled up with bongos to create a dancefloor oriented DJ tool with ancient flavor.

On the remix duties at the B-side are Ransom Note's craftsman Timothy Clerkin with slow atmospheric and meditative version of 'Pagan Rave' and quickly emerging Olsvangèr from Tel-Aviv who delivers weird oriental progressive club banger made up from the 'Ancient Tool'. Overall there is an 12'' saturated with different vibes neatly crafted and mixed together for a wide range of feelings for the listener and tools for the DJ.

A few years ago, Melodies family members Floating Points and DJ Red Greg got their hands on a couple of original 70s obscurities. While these standout records shone brightly in their own right, the two DJs saw the potential to create their own edits behind the scenes, finely attuning the original versions to modern-day dancefloor standards. Of these new recordings, they cut only five copies for themselves and a few DJ friends of theirs.

Today, Melodies International is very proud to bring you MEL006 and MEL007. Fully licensed, lovingly mastered to the highest possible standards and carefully edited to dial up that dancefloor enjoyment, these two 'You're A Melody' classics weren't originally meant to get official releases. But due to popular request, they are now available to play and share in very special moments at parties around the world.

Unkle ist eine britische Musikgruppe, die 1992 von James Lavelle gegründet wurde. Ursprünglich als
Trip Hop kategorisiert, umfasste die Gruppe einst den Produzenten DJ Shadow und beschäftigte
verschiedene Gastkünstler und Produzenten. Im Jahr 1998 erschien das Album "Psyence Fiction" und
landete direkt auf Platz vier der britischen Charts. Am 18. August 2017 erschien das fünfte
Studioalbum - The Road pt. 1', auf dem sie unter anderem musikalische Unterstützung von Mark
Lanegan, Chris Goss und Twiggy Ramirez erhielten.
Nun erscheint "Psyence Fiction" erneut als 2LP auf 180g Vinyl.

Remastered 2017 version of the 2002 Thump mix with a new version on the flip, played with band and the addition of live instruments.. The legendary German House label NEEDS (not wants) returns after a long hiatus with a new release on the exclusive Gold Edition that is set up for revisiting their own classics to upgrade them with brand new versions and re-interpretations. Walkin Thru Circles - originally produced by Lars & Marek Bartkuhn - has always been a favourite for many of their fans. The original Thump Mix is a constantly building mover that is based on a massive beat, hypnotic soundscapes and highly energetic chord hooks, ready for taking off to outer space. For the Full Expansion Lars has gone back to the studio to recompose and re-record the whole thing over again, combining the skills of some excellent session musicians with lots of live instruments, drum & percussion and vocals all played and sung by the producer himself. The result is a complex, epic and fearless Jazzfunk odyssey, both musically expansive and heavily grooving at the same time.

Almunia (Leonardo Ceccanti and Gianluca Salvadori) unleashed their
debut LP in 2011 with a sweet heady mix of overdubbed disco, guitars
and psyched out grooves. With gatefold hand numbered copies selling
on Discogs for around £170, you now get the chance to own it as a
double LP without breaking the bank. Kicking off with 'Psychedelic'
the pace is set, before 'New Moon' pins you down for a sweet Pink
Flloydian ride. 'Dos Estrellas' hits home to deliver the promise of this
outft, a blissed out subtle-as-you-like intro, coming on like a 12' indie
dub mix from the late 80's, dropping half way through for full on sunset
smiles.
The essence of Peter Green is distilled through 'Electro Blues' and
underpinned with a rubbery dustbowl bassline, vocals wash over the
breakdown in what could be the soundtrack to a weird peyote inspired
movie scene that hasn't been made yet. 'Kissing Time' sweetens
things up with a nifty melody and vocal whilst 'Moving Up Slowly'
really does as it says and notches up the bass, FX, beats and voices
for a hefty slab of midnight boogie.
'Travel' then turns up the sweatiness, with a sluggish, pounding beat,
solid throb of bass and analogue lines from a John Carpenter chase,
dark and heady, with vocals added by Benjamin James Smith from
Smith & Mudd. 'Until She Comes' brings you round nicely at the other
end of the LP with a sweet lolloping bass, choral touches, nifty beats
and a delicate hand on the guitar.

First up, Masters At Work massive remix of the classic "Funky Sensation" by Gwen McCrae, recently jacked by Disclosure. On the B side is the One Rascal edit of Aretha Franklin's timeless "Respect". Both are guaranteed dancefloor bombs!

Ein Trip durch die tropische Dance-Szene in vier Akten, limitiert auf 1000 Exemplare. Sein fünfjähriges Jubiläum feiert das Label Cree Records mit einer exklusiven 12''. Diese enthält vier von
befreundeten DJs editierte Songs aus dem Backkatalog. Bei dem Quartett handelt es sich um DJ Nomad, Keshav Singh, Al Kent und Waxist. Der Berliner DJ Nomad suchte sich Barbara Hernandez' "All Nite Tonight" aus. Keshav Singh ist Teil des trinidadisch-britischen Produktionsduos Jus Now; er verwandelte Mansa Musas "Beat The Drum" in eine housige Soca-Nummer. Die beiden anderen Stücke werden auf der demnächst erscheinenden Kompilation "Gotta Nice Buzz. The Funky Sound Of Semp Studios Trinidad, W.I." zu finden sein: Zum einen der Remix des französischen DJs und Plattensammlers Waxist von Zodiacs "I Believe". Zum anderen ein von Al Kent besorgter Edit des trinidadischen Disco-Klassikers "Music Makes The
World Go 'round" der Hamilton Brothers aus dem Jahr 1978.

Africa Seven presents A7 Edits. The African reissue and compilation output slides over to the dancefloor with its new edits label, packing both holsters with edits alongside sought after originals, a combination you don't see all that often. The man in charge of the first edition is Stefano Ritteri, who has seen recent releases on Freerange and Congoloid, has DJs like Axel Boman regularly playing his edits and has his own imprint Viaggio set to drop in 2019. Stefano is a producer where sampling is key to his creative process and unreleased edits of African and other worldly delights have made up a lot of his DJ sets of recent.

With the A-side we see Stefano take on Ekambi Brillant's 1976 Nyambe, originally released on BBZ productions and later featuring on our African Funk Experimentals series. Stefano takes the Cameroonian's disco number, extends it, speeds it up and adds a whole lot of dancefloor energy, with a well-constructed break down and party-time drop. Stefano manages to create the perfect dancefloor weapon with this one, maintaining a lot of the original energy and reintroducing it into the 21st century.

On the B-side we have Stefano's interpretation of one of the more psychedelic numbers that we have released on Africa Seven, with Zinabu from Bunzu Soundz, originally featured on their 1976 in demand Afrodisia album. This edit sees the Nigerian psychedelic highlife lift off into space, with trippy sound effects playing on top of chunky sampled drums and a well thought out bass line whilst the guitar solo competes against the vocals for lead position.
A7 Edits offer with this release the opportunity to see how the artist has interpreted two original works on the same record. This being Volume 1, it goes without saying that we have others on the way.
