Madonna has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognised as the best-selling female recording artist of all time. She is often cited in the press as the "Queen of Pop" and has the most certified singles by a female artist with 24 Gold, Platinum, or Multi-Platinum singles. From "Like A Virgin" in 1984 to "Secret" in 1994, Madonna had an all-time record 34 consecutive Top 10 hits on the UK singles chart.

Released in 1995 Something To Remember was a compilation album, featuring previously released Madonna singles that had never been featured on her own album, including "I'll Remember" and "This Used to Be My Playground". Something to Remember reached the top 20 in over nineteen countries worldwide and went on to become 4 X Platinum in Australia alone.

Polishing Peanuts DELUXE's first EP (November 2011) opened the door & created a buzz about the band's future projects. The 3 first tracks that came out in spring, started to tease the audience's interest, especially Daniel the EP's title track (out on May 13th) & the crazy video who came along with it. The long awaited LP drops on September 16th 2013, and goes by the sweet name of The DELUXE Family show.

This first album reflects the maturity acquired by the band during the years, full of tracks as diverse & breathtaking as the fellows mustaches. The jazzy touch, trademark of the band's first discographic adventures can be found on tracks Extra Mile & Bleed On, Indisposed (feat. Cyph4) & Pretty Flaws are melancholic & dreamy ballads, whereas Family Show & Baby (feat ASM) are hip hop bangers. The LP travels through different styles, it also features several mc's (Tumi on Too Me, Taiwan Mc on Blocked) and surprises the ears by easily skipping from dub step fuelled rock & roll vibes, to sweet & sour ballads, and even funky disco sounds. With eclecticism, assumed diversity and an urge to tell a story, DELUXE invites his listeners to immerse in this first album's universe, grooving, moving, bouncing, a real musical melting pot with various horizons.

Body 11 is/was the one-man project of Tim Stickelbrucks. Inspired by the late 70s/early 80s icons such as OMD, Human League, and Cabaret Voltaire, Tim wrote and recorded 4 songs in 1987 in his apartment and self-released the "Mind" 7 inch EP in 1988. Rather obscure at the time, the 7" gained cult status later in the 90s when collectors and word of mouth fans began seeking out copies of the record.Medical Records is proud to reissue the "Mind" EP 4 songs along with unreleased recordings created at the same time. The unreleased tracks were songs that were distributed only on cassette (to friends, etc) at the time. The tracks have been transferred from cassette. The LP embodies the essence of the EBM (electronic body music) subgenre that was prevalent in the late 80s. Though retaining a DIY/demo feel, the tracks have a warm synth/beat laced mood that will surprise and delight fans of this era who are not knowledgeable of Body 11. The opener "Wasteland" definitely evokes a rougher/distorted vocal style over a sequenced Front 242 style rhythm with treated guitar highlights. The unreleased tracks seems to interface with the "Mind" EP songs seamlessly. Fans of early Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, late 80s industrial (Wax Trax, Nettwerk) and even early Skinny Puppy will find this collection essential.

For the uninitiated, Odyssey are a band who thrived in the 1970s disco boom thanks to an insouciant blend of live funk, soul and Afro Caribbean rhythms. Recently Yam Who's ISM imprint embarked on the Legacy project, which will see the band get back together in the studio to record a new album that includes updated versions of past hits alongside new material. In addition to this, ISM have commissioned a number of remixes, with expertly selected knob twiddlers turning reimagining Odyssey material for contemporary dancefloors. On the first edition, "Native New Yorker" - the first true Odyssey smash hit - is given a thorough disco treatment from Ashley Beedle with his "Big Apple Uptown Story" rife with piano keys, funky guitars and soaring string sections. On the flip, two upbeat and feel good remixes of "Inside Out" from DJ Friction and PBR are both pure disco euphoria. Bells chime, vocals bounce and the irresistibly groovy bass keeps them well and truly alive.

What can we say, an absolutely solid gold series of releases and they just keep on coming through with the good stuff !

Taking the boom of British bass culture and marrying it to the sweet slickness of classic American R&B, AlunaGeorge - aka Aluna Francis and producer George Reid - are excited to announce the details of their eagerly awaited debut album 'Body Music', released on July 29th via Island Records.

In the 12 months since their first release went viral, AlunaGeorge's DIY video for 'You Know You Like It' has clocked up over 2 million views, the band were crowned the most blogged artist of 2012, they sold out a European tour, performed at Moschino's catwalk show during London Fashion Week and made the top 3 for both last year's prestigious BRITS Critics Choice Award and the BBCs Sound of 2013 (#2). Satisfaction was recorded in 1984 and set for release on Quincy Jones' Qwest label. The album was cancelled due to legal matters. Family Groove Records is making this music available for the first time. The full-length Satisfaction album is due out this summer.

Earthling's choice of name is as self-confident as their performance. The Japanese trio defines itself as a worldly representative, capable of creative exploration without limits. The group calls their first album DANCE to express the fullest flowers of rhytmic movement, attending to both physical and spiritual needs.

Earthling consists of lead vocalist/guitarist John, his wife, bass guitarist Yoko Fujiwara, and keyboard/sythesizer player Jin Haijama. The group was formed in Tokyo one years ago when John and Yoko, who had been fashion and textile designers, felt the desire to give the music they'd written a more permanent environment. They recruited Jim, who was working in an amusement park, and evolved a musical form which pulsed with a steady beat, yet was tempered by hypnotic vocal chanting. The electronic power that sustains DANCE is complemented by Johns's introspective delivery, the natural result of his training as a Buddhist priest.

The sound of Earthling is dedicated to reinforceing the subtle and sensitive connections which link modern music to dance. While the group utilizes a rhythm-machine to epitomize the sustained beat of their society's ordered technology, the emotional vocal impact of songs like "Heavy Feeling in My mind" and "The Guard of Sensitivity" add an urgent, street-wise dimension to their precise instrumental presentation.

Although Earthling are not fluent in English, they write in our language for its universality and appropiateness. Earthling are sound pioneers, painting future dreams that transcend the present day. They understand that the future cannot be easiliy classified, and that tomorrow is not simply another today.

With recent releases for Internasjonal and Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space Records, Los Angeles based producer Secret Circuit (otherwise known as Eddie Ruscha) has had a breakthrough year with his brittle synth jams, taking inspiration from Balearic disco and minimal wave alike. However, he's been a prolific producer since 1996, and this record on Emotional Response, entitled Tropical Psychedelics, collects productions from Rusha up until 2010 that have previously only seen the light of day on cassette releases. Described by the label as a "Balearic-Tropical-Afro-Psychedelic whirl", the album packs a rich palette of analogue textures into its ten tracks, from the Afro dub of "Afrobotics", through the hazy, beatless combination of piano and analogue synth on "Psouvenirs" to the psychedelic tropicalia of "Foggy Twilights".

The legendary digger re-ignites the Lagos Disco Inferno and kicks off his own mouth-watering imprint with these two sides of boogie-down bliss. Irresistible Afro-disco, layered with delirious syn-drums and sick keys, and featuring a horn-line bumptiously whipped from Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson's bass-playing on MJ's Workin' Day And Night.



Originally from Warri where he stayed throughout most of his career, Tony's first band was the Famous Latin And His Dominant Seven. He gigged for a while as a James Brown imitator with The Great Peters, before his breakthrough fronting the Magnificient Zeinians, with some amazing 45s on EMI's HMV imprint — best of all the psych-rock-funk monster Ije Udo. From the early to mid 1970s, his EMI sides range from Afrobeat to rock and pop. All Tony's records are great. He came up with various names for his backing bands — the Black 7, the Super 7, the Black Kings...

From the early-eighties, with the Ozimba Messengers, Grey's two recordings here were originally released on different LPs.

Welcome to Neo Baile, a new take on the traditional sounds and aesthetics of Brazil's Baile Funk (or Funk Carioca) that challenges the established order to create something new, exciting and forward thinking.

Mr Bongo is extremely proud to present The Sound of Neo Baile compilation LP, taking tracks from the album (MRBCD114). Featuring 6 unreleased and exclusive tracks from worldwide producers that re-interpret the love-it-or-hate-it Brazilian Baile Funk sound.

The compilation has been put together by two of the movement's most knowledgeable players: Sao Paulo-based Funk na Caixa aka Renato Martins and London-based Sean Casey aka Bumps, founder of Club Popozuda.

The Sound of Neo Baile EP features established names such as DJ Comdrade aka Xao, whose Favela Trap album made a major dent in the burgeoning scene at the end of 2012 and Rio-based Maga Bo, who has been producing Brazilian-flavoured bass music since the early 00s. Alongside these are upcoming artists you'll most definitely want to keep an eye on including Ophex from Lithuania, Gato Preto from Mozambique/Dusseldorf, Chuck Upbeat from Moscow and London-based Bumps, one of the compilers.

Strut presents the definitive reissues of two all-time classic Caribbean soul and funk albums, The Beginning Of The End's 'Funky Nassau' (1971) and 'Beginning Of The End' (1976).

Emerging from Nassau in the Bahamas in 1971, the band was formed around the Munnings brothers (Ray, Leroy and Frank) and the first song they recorded, 'Funky Nassau', became a No. 1 Billboard R'n'B hit, selling over a million copies. We wanted to create something new,' remembers Ray Munnings, something that was truly Bahamian. We loved funk but wanted to include elements of junkanoo, the indigenous music of The Bahamas.' An album was written within a week and recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami. We brought in more Bahamian themes, like 'Monkey Tamarind', a wild fruit that grows there.'

By the time of their second album in 1976, the band was managed by Don Taylor, also Bob Marley's manager. Don took us to Byron Lee's studio in Jamaica and used Teddy Randazzo (Little Anthony & The Imperials) to direct the sessions,' recalls Munnings. He gave us more of an uptempo jazz funk sound with Chicago-style horns.' The album led to a run of incredible bad luck. Booked to support Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' On' tour, the US Musicians Union stepped in and ordered a US group to fill the slot. They were then added onto a major Bob Marley tour in 1976 before he injured his foot, cancelling all dates.

These definitive official reissues of 'Funky Nassau' and 'Beginning Of The End' are remastered by The Carvery from original tapes and feature full length tracks from the studio sessions. Both albums feature a history of the albums and the band by vocalist Ray Munnings, alongside rare photos. 'Beginning Of The End' appears on loudpress 2LP for the first time. The CD edition features both albums + all extra singles recorded by the band.

Edits may be dead, but just when your elitist attitude comes to a head and you think you're on top of your game, there will always be someone deeper, faster and still motivated enough to rekindle your digging desires. Where Blackdisco Volume 10 saw the return of Lovefingers and Nitedog, Volume XI pushes forward into new territory (and with a new aesthetic) by welcoming a group of three deep diggers who shun musical trends and their inherent fakers. Dea, Albion & Spacelex combine their vinyl-mining efforts to unearth some real diamonds from the rough. Dea's cut Malaka its a floater with a funky sailboat vibe, while his complimentary cut Taubat takes the tired jungle disco vibe to new level with its triumphant synth-led chorus, an absolute stunner that could be extended for 20 minutes. On the flip, Albion spoons water over the coals, steaming up the joint with an uptempo percussion bomb as if Santana had a disco secret, and Spacelex rides us out with a sexy rock groove complete with mysterious male voiceover, almost as if someone lowered the volume to whisper in your ear.

This one has been in the pipeline for a long time now...and finally those cheeky chappies, The Popular People's Front, drop a killer release on Disco Deviance!!

Featuring their usual blend of disco, electrofunk and proto-house vibes, both reworks are 100% guaranteed to rock the dance floor, and are lovingly extended and amended in trademark PPF style.

Zappa and The Visitor Paul Murphy, Alex Searle and Quinn Luke resurrect their
Paqua project for another spine-tingling trip into kaleidoscopic rock territory.
'Late Train' is a decidedly dubbed-out West Coast rock epic - two parts low-
slung dub-disco, three parts stoner rock, and four parts wide-eyed psychedelia.
It ebbs and fows over 11 undulating minutes, sounding like a long lost '70s
prog rock gem produced by the Idjut Boys. It's a bit of a stunner, all right.
'We Are What We Are' offers some respite. Fusing sparring guitars - electric
and acoustic - with a loose, baggy, organic groove, it's an effortless blast of
summer sunshine. While decidedly Balearic in nature, it owes more to classic
West Coast rock than White Isle electronica. As you'd expect from Claremont
56, it's perfectly pitched and more than a little wide-eyed.

Lou was a Detroit artist who established himself in the 60s where he first worked as a writer and producer with Barbara Lewis. In the 70s he was signed as an artist to legendary producer Jerry Ragovoy's Rags label through Epic and these recordings have been internationally regarded by soul fans ever since.
