Limited remastered reissue of Bagarre's cult classic New Wave Italo disco LP 'Circus'. Originally released back in '82 on tiny Italian label Sauvage Musique, this amazing LP which features the wonderful left field vocals of Ann O'Rack over some killer italo disco grooves has become a real collectors item and is now hugely in-demand.

Standouts include the superbly melancholic and sleazy 'Dirty Love', oddball gem 'For Your Pleasure' and the excellent disco version of 'Lemonsweet', but the whole LP is great and a worthy addition to any collection. Top stuff!

Limited reissue for this fantastic in-demand disco cover of The Police's 'Voices Inside My Head'. Originally released on NYC label BC Records in 1980, this version became a staple on the NYC scene back in the day receiving heavy rotation at both the Paradise Garage and Mancuso's Loft, and its druggy hypnotic take on the Sting-penned classic still packs floors today with a superb chugging slo-mo aesthetic, moody strings, dreamy vocals and ultra-funky bass. After the success of the first three volumes, Musica Sol Y Mar are back with a fourth installment of Balearic Sound for 2013. The album contains tracks such as 'In Alto Mare' from sultry Italian singer Loredana Berte who delivers a killer piano-led groove that has been a summer favourite in the Mediterranean since its release in the early 1980s; the dope slo-mo Cosmic groove of 'My Baby My' by US soul singer Sue Ann Cardwell which was a big hit on the White Island as well as being popular with the Afro and Cosmic DJs in Italy. The slo-mo theme is continued with The Alan Parsons Project's mighty 'The Gold Bug' which the Quiet Village guys have been championing in recent years. Our Amnesia days are remembered with Switzerland's finest duo, Yello and their inimitable 'She's Got A Gun' which Alfredo often dropped in his warm up sets. Rock music has always been a key part of the Balearic sound and is showcased here by legends The Who and Rod Stewart. Rod's sleazy groove 'Passion' has been revived in recent years by Balearic Mike and Joel Martin in England whilst The Who's 'Eminence Front' has endured popularity in New York via David Mancuso and Larry Levan as well as Ibizan DJs. Jose Padilla's enduring influence is written large in the songs by Jevetta Steele, Malcolm McLaren and Alphonso Johnson - perfect to soundtrack a Café Del Mar sunset. Even though he didn't invent the concept, Bucharest born and Amsterdam residing, Andrei Idu, or more familiarly, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra has done a good deal of remixes in the previous couple of years. This record showcases his best remixes and dubs. Apart from "Lesson 1 Remix", all tracks are exclusive to this vinyl release.

Starting off the record is the infectious dance-floor filler remix of Odyssey's "Inside Out". The remix was done for the 2011 DJ History Odyssey remix competition. Having received enormous feedback and support, it was about time it saw an official release! The track builds the feel-good instrumental to a vocal chorus driven hands-in-the-air climax. It has been a sure shot secret weapon of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's DJ sets until now. The second track on the A-side is The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's most successful remix to date. His version of L'Equipe du Son's "Lesson 1" is a warm synth driven piece of the highest quality 80's inspired disco. The percussion and strings fill the track with sentiment. It's been witnessed to melt girls on the dance-floor and make grown men shed tears.

The B-side of the record is reserved for the deeper dubs. First off is an unreleased version of Emeron & Fox's "Dopecity". The Legendary 1979 Orchestra takes the original as inspiration and goes deep with it. "Dopecity Deep Dub" is a journey into emotions and euphoria that would fit wonderfully in those late morning deep house sets. Finishing off the record is a Bonus Beats version of Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club's "Marwencol". The original and the first TL79O remix of the track were released in early 2011 on the infamous Russian label Shanti. It was actually The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's first official release. The version on the record strips down the remix going even more dub and keeps the ultra-punchy drums in the forefront for some guaranteed head-nodding business.

With each track touching on a different side of underground dance music, this record is a complete guide to the many styles and tastes of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's compositions. It wouldn't be hard to imagine hearing all four tracks at different times of a perfect club night.

Another fantastic compilation from Sunkissed featuring six incredible Afro Latin flavoured Balearic rarities from 70/80s Brazilian singer/songwriter Jorge Ben. A stunning selection of hard to find tracks that all found favour both on Italy's Afro Funky Cosmic scene and on the dancefloors of Ibiza and beyond. Standouts include the floor friendly 'Ponta De Lanca Africano (Umbabarauma)' and 'Energia Bom Bom' as well as the brilliant 'Falcao' only ever available before as an in-demand limited 1983 seven inch but all the cuts are essential and a great way to collect some of the best work by such a wonderful artist.

Number five in the series and no letting up the pressure for hot African funk label Supafrico. The fifth volume hits the ground running with the in-demand extended version of massive 1979 party anthem 'Let me Love You' from Sierra Leone's disco/funk maestro Bunny Mack. Next up comes Jake Sollo's wonderful dancefloor burner 'African Gypsy'. Tucked away on his hard-to-find album 'Show Me How' also from '79, this superb slice of Nigerian funk showcases the congo master's percussion skills and great vocals as well as some wild psychedelic guitar action. Flip onto Side B for William Onyeabor's conscious soul epic 'Better Change Your Mind'. Weighing in at eight and a half minutes with a heavyweight churning bassline and some hefty guitarwork, this cannot fail to move you in all senses. And last but not least, the fantastic Roverman by Emma Dorgu from his 1979 super-rare album of the same name. An ultra-funky cut with some very cool Fender Rhodes, this sought-after groover is a great end to another essential Supafrico compilation.

The latest offering from the Balearica imprint featuring more top quality sun-kissed gems. First up is Derrick Harriot's 'Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys', a fantastic reggae disco cover version of the Equals classic originally released on the mega rare 'Acid Rock' LP back in 1982. Following this bomb is the funky party killer, David Lampell's 'Iranian Groove'. The flip side features the exceptionally hard to come by 12' version of 'Praise Jah' by Trinidadian singer Oluko Imo that captivates with its predominant funk bassline and inventive keys. Finally, we have Amadeo's hugely in-demand 'Memories', a spacey balearic disco groover that has been popping up on many DJs most wanted lists ever since it was one of the standouts of Harvey's brilliant 'Sarcastic Disco Mix'. With two massive reissues from Suns of Arqa and Jaki Whitren under their belts, the fledging label Emotional Rescue have come up with the goods once again, with this remastered reissue of incredibly rare 70s psyche-funk from Bob Chance. Two versions are included: the original 7" version, driven along by a razor-sharp guitar riff and sweetly lamenting lyrics, topped off with weird cosmic synths and galloping rhythm. However, the real gem is the edit entitled "Wild It's Broken" which sharpens the focus of the guitar and adds some serious kick to the drums to create a beefy counterpart to the new age original.

After a short hiatus, the highly sought after Hot Natured Re Rubs Series is back. Forth in the series features four great re-edit's by Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Miguel Campbell and Richy Ahmed & S.A.S.

Following on from his iconic Hard Candy LP, 1979's Prone is again bursting with Californian sun-soaked gems showcasing Doheny's signature laidback funky musical style and relaxed unpolished vocals. From quality soulful groovers such as Think Like A Lover and If You Only Knew through to the sophisticated disco sounds of Sweet Friction and Funky Love, there's not a filler in sight but the icing on this tasty West Coast cake has got to be DJ's favourite - the great jazz-funk floor-filler To Prove My Love. Essential new release on Sunkissed Records featuring four Balearic disco gems from inimitable 60s pop siren Dusty Springfield. Side A kicks off with Marshall Jefferson's atmospheric dance mix of 'Nothing Has Been Proved' - a blissful orchestral slo-mo collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys featuring a fantastic b-line and Dusty's dreamy vocals, followed by the great 12" version of 'Baby Blue', a summery blast of disco gold driven by some great chugging tropical percussion, recently brought to attention by the likes of Horse Meat Disco and Lindstrøm. On the flip we get the hard-to-find seven minute Tom Moulton Disco mix of 'That's The Kind Of Love I Got For You'. Only released as a DJ promo 12" in 1978, this is a gorgeous upbeat string and percussion-laden extravaganza that builds and builds to a dancefloor-burning crescendo. Finally, we have a cover of The Classics IV's 1968 hit 'Spooky' - a beautiful laid-back groover featuring an ice-cool and ethereal vocal performance from Ms Springfield. Zaf Zafsmusic is a disco weasel of the highest order. He has, by his own admission, got it bad-losing sleep and suffering physical maladies from the want of certain must-have pieces of stamped vinyl. Fortunately, he also has excellent taste and a lengthy history of wheeling and dealing with other similarly afflicted individuals, a history that has allowed him to sift the wheat from the crap, err, chaff, as it were. As a long-time staffer of the notorious Reckless Records on Berwick Street, a hotbed of vinyl commerce in the Soho section of London, these skills were no doubt put to the test on a daily basis when dealing with the continuous influx of hustlers hoping to offload their by-and-large worthless wax at the shop. Faced with this parade of the common and shoddy, it takes a keen eye to single out the precious stones buried in the seemingly endless expanse of decent-but-ordinary (not to mention the middling-to-awful) records that comprise most collections. Our stalwart selector has also travelled an even more treacherous terrain: the world of online sellers. Without recounting any gory digital battle stories, suffice it to say that the online world inhabited by some vinyl obsessives is a rather scary place. It is without any sarcasm that I offer my sincere gratitude to Zaf for the yeoman's work he has put in discovering the tunes herein.
