Limited reissue of this super-rare and highly collectable disco album featuring killer club classic Inch By Inch. Sounding light years ahead of its time, this epic dancefloor dreamscape is powered by a tight driving disco backdrop layered with swirling synths and the sensual breathy vocals of Zell Black and has been justly championed by many DJ big guns including Derrick Carter and Frankie Knuckles. Never released on a 12', this 7 and a half minute track more than warrants the album price on its own. However, with Kenny Nolan, co-writer of Labelle's smash Lady Marmalade, at the helm, the LP features other crisp disco workouts, notably the fantastically quirky club hit 'Comme Ci Comme Ca'. Don't miss!

Milton Hamilton Crystalized - Disco Madness

Limited vinyl reissue for highly sought-after 1976 LP 'Disco Madness' from Milton Hamilton Crystalized. Released on tiny NYC label Disko-Mania, this exquisitely-crafted slice of jazz-funk infused disco heaven from elusive music teacher-turned-pianist Mr Hamilton is sheer perfection from start to finish successfully incorporating a number of styles from lush soulful ballads such as 'I Really Got A Thing For You' and 'Our Love, through the hi-octane funk of Mahogany to cool syncopated jazz-funk bubblers like 'Crystalized' and 'So Beautiful' and the afro-funk styled cover 'Poinciana' with its dazzling interplay of jazzy organ and guitar. As you would expect from an LP engineered by revered disco supremo Bob Blank, the album spawned a number of club hits including the classic 'Love Supreme', a lilting sweeping disco extravaganza of intricate keys, grooving percussion and punchy brass gilded with the classiest of vocals which rocked the whole of New York from Studio 54 to the Funhouse and of course the underground masterpiece 'We Have All The Time', a big play for discerning Disco DJs such as Dimitri From Paris and Danny Krivit with its superb breezy feel and sweetest of vocals. An amazing album - don't miss!

Boy George - This Is What I Do (2-lp+cd)

BOY GEORGE ist wieder da und veröffentlicht mit "This Is What I Do" ein fantastisches Album mit 12 brandneuen Titeln.

Boy George hat "This Is What I Do" gemeinsam mit seinen langjährigen Partnern John Themis, Kevan Frost und Richie Stevens (Soul II Soul, Tina Turner, Simply Red, Culture Club) geschrieben.

Boy George braucht eigentlich keine weitere Erklärung.

Green Linez - Landscape / House Of 7 Joys Ep

We will keep limited stock only 1 month as usual....Please send your order as soon as possible!!!

Greeen Linez is a collaboration between Chris Greenberg (from the British electronic pop band Hong Kong In The 60s) and UK-born/Tokyo-based DJ/producer A Taut Line (aka Matt Lyne, co-founder of the Diskotopia label). The project combines the '90s dance music and R&B that soundtracked Chris and Matt's childhoods with the '70s/'80s jazz-funk and synthesizer soundtracks that they have obsessed over in the years since. All of this is filtered through the cocktail of retro pop, fusion and supermarket muzak that Matt has been exposed to during his time in Japan.

Their debut album Things That Fade was released in summer 2012 on Diskotopia, receiving positive reviews in The Wire, DJ Mag and FACT, as well as support from DJs and producers such as Julio Bashmore, Hyetal and Magic Touch - the last-named has also recently collaborated with the duo for his Nothing More EP, to be released in November on Tensnake's label True Romance. Besides their own music, Greeen Linez have also produced well-received remixes for artists including Seahawks, Maylee Todd, Sorcerer and the Japanese Idol group Especia.

The Landscape EP is the first appearance of Greeen Linez on the popular Japanese label Catune, run by 9dw's Kensuke Saito and home to Disco, Balearic and New Age-tinged releases from such artists as Windsurf, Sorcerer, The Beat Broker and Sauce 81. The title track features Ichirou Fujimoto (under his Awa moniker) on guitar, following on from his collaboration with Greeen Linez on their 2012 album track "Knowledge", as well as work on popular Japanese DJ duo Monkey Timers' debut single "Monk". A2 is Awa's own take on the title track, stripping away the kalimba, guitar and saxophone to create a deep, floaty synth bass-driven dancefloor hit that evokes the works of Larry Heard. On the flip side, the Electro-Funk number "House Of Seven Joys" recalls the pristine production sound of Trevor Horn, whilst the duo's own Dance Mix ups the track's pace to that of a house stormer, ploughing energetically through the accompanying birdsong and natural textures.

DJ Feedback
Great stuff. Really like A1 track and B2...sounds like Rheji Burrell producing Level 42.

Revolution Francaise - Translocomotion / Discocorico

Two tracks from the Jean Pierre Massiera produced band Revolution Francaise, along with updated versions by Dwilt Sharpp and Psychemagik available again on this 12"!!
'Translocomotion' was only issued on 7" as a promotional gift called Bon baisers d'Antibes and next to that, Favorite discovered the 'Discocorico' song: a crazy disco-baroque version of the French anthem, which perfectly demonstrates how eccentric and outrageous Mr Massiera could be.

Eddie Russ - Zaius/i Heard That

Incredible jazz-funk reissue on original Monument label featuring four gems from legendary keyboardist Eddie Russ. All stone cold classics and anthems on the 80s scene and still sounding spine-tingingly good today. Opens with the epic Zaius, lauded as one of the best tracks ever made in this genre and a massive floor-filler back in the day, featuring awesome Rhodes and synth solos as well as some amazing guitar, sax and brass work. Followed by Eddie's huge chugging cover of the Quincy Jones classic 'I Heard That', a swaggering funky groover with searing horns and great sassy vocals from Renee Coles. Flip over for big Harvey play 'Take A Look At Yourself', a sizzling disco/funk jam with trademark energetic keys from Russ and last but definitely not least is the low-down dirty jazz fusion number 'Poko Nose' drenched in sleazy squelching bass and acid-tinged synths. Four amazing tracks on one loud-pressed Monument 12' - don't miss.

Barry White - Can't Get Enough
  • 1: Mellow Mood (Pt. I)
  • 2: You're The First, The Last, My Everything
  • 3: I Can't Believe You Love Me
  • 4: Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe
  • 5: Oh Love, Well We Finally Made It

By the time he hit his stride in 1974 with this chart-topping album, Barry White had firmly established his vocal persona on the contemporary music scene. No fewer than four top-10 R&B hits--two of which had been top-10 pop entries--and two gold albums preceded the release of Can't Get Enough and the man with the deep (and apparently golden) voice was a stealthy force. The allure of White--a Los Angeles native whose early years included a stint as an A&R man with a local record label--lay in his ability to craft relatively simple love songs and embellish them with luxuriant strings, a hard-to-beat rhythm section, and soulful background vocals. The combination is never more evident than on the classic title track and 'You're My First, My Last, My Everything,' an anthem that seemed to appeal immeasurably to White's ever-increasing pop audience.

Ministry Of Sound - 70s Groove

36

With over a staggering ½ million sales of Ministry of Sound's 'Groove' series to date it's only right that we venture back to the decade of feel good funk. A constant influence for the last 30+ years be it Soul, Funk, Disco or Motown, this is where it all began, this is 70s Groove.

We get the ball rolling with 'The Godfather of Soul' James Brown 'Get Up' alongside funk fuelled classics from Curtis Mayfield, Tempations and the legendary Isley Brothers! The beat goes on with the original hip hop classic from Sugarhill Gang, one of the most recognised film soundtracks from Isaac Hayes and Motown's controversial anthem from Edwin Starr.

Moving into the disco groove - Michael Jackson reminds us as ever why he was the undisputed King of Pop with is top five hit 'Don't Stop Till You Get Enough'. We boogie on down with Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang and Barry White whilst including recently covered hits from Donna Summer and Labelle.

This album however wouldn't be complete with the smooth soul legends that became an inspiration to many of today's artists from Marvin Gaye to Al Green, Bill Withers to the Commodores amongst many others; you have it all here on a disc that winds things down in the best way possible.

Pablo & Shooey - The Re-jigs Volume 3

After a superlative EP from Chicago's DJ Rahaan, Dublin's Fatty Fatty Phonographics is back with another installment of Pablo and Shoey's 'Rejigs', which have had support from the likes of Hot Toddy, Bicep, Get Down Edits, Leftside Wobble, House of Disco and Rub'N'Tug.

'No Good (Start The Jack) sees them take on Kelly Charles' 'You're No Good', a late 80's New Jersey house bomb and source of the infamous vocal hook from The Prodigy's 'No Good (Start The Dance). After one of the great 80's dance music clichés - an intro where some sassy mama gives her boyfriend shit down an old school telephone line - they go straight for the jugular with that big big hook, spinning the whole thing out for 10 minutes with lots of hypnotic piano loops and large chunks of the great song at the heart of it all. This is one that the crowd will be immediately singing right back at ya at 2am!

'Gonna Get Ya', meanwhile, goes for some Greg Wilson 'Edit The Edit' style shenanigans, taking on Barna Soundmachine's sly, slinky funk loops. The Barna man's original had a whole heap of Diana Ross' vocals from 'I'm Gonna Make You Love Me' at the centre but never let rip with the big hands in the air chorus. The lads have rearranged it here so it's alot less teasin' and alot more ease-in!

The 3rd track is as important to Pablo and Shoey as it is to Moodymann, so 'Funky Rump (Tribute To MCA)' pays tribute to the sadly deceased Beastie Boy by looping up some busy jazz drums from 'Paul's Boutique' and splicing it with a very fitting in concert tribute from the one and only Flava Flav of Public Enemy. The full track, when it eventually arrives, is a relentless clav funk monster that just keeps going and going....

Tom Tom Club - The Balearic Sound Of...

Another top class compilation from the folks at Sunkissed Records featuring four fantastic dance-friendly cuts from cult 80s band Tom Tom Club. Popular everywhere from the b-boys and underground clubs of their home town New York to the shores of the Mediterranean, Talking Heads' spin off Tom Tom Club was one of the most innovative dance acts of their time with a genre-straddling punk/funk/electro sound reflected in this inspired collection of their most Balearic moments. Includes the long version of the ever popular 'Genius Of Love' with that awesome funky groove sampled by everyone from Grandmaster Flash to Mariah Carey as well as the 12' version of Paradise Garage classic 'Elephant' - an awesome mid tempo disco chugger. On the flip is the brilliant 12' instrumental of club classic 'Pleasure of Love' and the quirky reggae-styled dub 'Lorelei'. Great stuff!

Various - Americana 2 (compiled By Zafsmusic)

Taking its lead from the Americana Music Association, Wikipedia describes Americana as "contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw. While acoustic instruments are often present and vital, Americana also often uses a full electric band." Like its well-received predecessor, the music on this second volume of Americana, showcases a slightly different take on this phenomenon. Contemporary Well, most of these recordings, sourced from the golden musical decades of the 70s and 80s, nonetheless fit very snugly with an interest in all things folk-funk that, while a marked tendency amongst the kind of people who are usually more interested in black music styles since at least the 90s rediscovery of Terry Callier, is very much of the now as we get deeper into the twenty-first century. Roots music Well, most of this stuff has a commercial, professional sheen, redolent less of the back porch and wide open plains than the urban pub and the college campus. The musical syncretism found here represents an easy strain of American popular music that was less lock-up-your-daughters than wow, I think Mom and Pop will like this too. As such, it represents a progressive, adult rapprochement with the civil rights movement, a moment in American cultural life before Reaganomics had fully achieved the backwards march that was a catalyst for the rise of hip-hop and the racial and class-based fracturing of the progressive post-war consensus. Life feels good, if a touch complacent, in these grooves. Its often the reception and not the production that crystallizes a musical style, and the relatively disparate sounds to be found on this album find their home together thanks to the particular aesthetic of renowned crate-digger/archivists Zaf Chowdhry and Mark Taylor. Both steeped in black music, these guys found they shared a penchant for its blue-eyed variant. Blue-eyed soul has of course always been a part of Britains black music scenes, and the discourse has hopefully moved on from the days when earnest record collectors would debate whether only blacks could sing the blues. The quest for authenticity that characterized those discussions really comes unstuck with these kinds of recordings: its precisely their inauthenticity as R&B that makes them authentic. The kind of melismatic, churchy, enraptured vocals characteristic of classic R&B are absent here, in their stead is something cooler and more definitively secular. If they speak to us now, its because were nostalgic for the kind of fit between music and identity that has become so lost with the advent of new recording technologies and brutal commercial realities. Bland, but expressive of new identities, new communities and the searching, reflective self that characterized the singer-songwriter role in the second-half of the twentieth-century, this album deepens our understanding of the influence of black music on American culture, and indeed of American culture more generally on the UKs black music scenes, whilst spreading the love a little wider than the small circles of cognoscenti who have previously cherished these records. This survey of a sound touches bases of all of those aforementioned UK and world-wide black-music scenes too. If the two-step scene has yet to pick up on the likes of Jaye P. Morgan, its been sleeping. Elsewhere, lightly jazzy instrumental funk (Luc Cousineau) jostles the deeper, heavier sounds of Lucy Stone. Southern soul stalwarts Rhodes, Chalmers and Rhodes go disco, TRs Hot Ice fit with the punk-funk/disco-not-disco template, and Hal Bradbury and Steve Eaton can pass muster with the more discerning of collectors as proper soul records. All in all, its another in-depth look at a neglected area of American musical history with a direct line to the eclectic sensibilities of twenty-first century black music collectors.

Die Gesunden - Die Gesunden

Taking influences from Kraftwerk, Roxy Music, and ENO/Bowie, Die Gesunden was one of the first Neue Deutsche Welle outfits. The self-titled LP was released in 1982 on Innovative Communication which was the independent record label formed by Klaus Schulze in 1978 after Klaus became very interested in the earliest Berlin Neue Deutsche Welle bands (such as Ideal, etc). The LP is a diverse collection of songs that display a jagged electronic quality showcased throughout with hints of power electronics mixed with synth pop. The opener "Die Gesunden Kommen" is an upbeat track with bouncing synth leads atop treated percussion with whispered lyrics. The second track "Leutnant Miller" displays some of the aforementioned power electronics harshness with pleasant electronic melodies and commanding vocals. "Sometimes/Manchmal" is a slow and minimal track with emotional vocals and mutated synth parts with monotonous tones that are quite entrancing. Overall, the record is a very diverse listen and will surely appeal to fans of early Neue Deutsche Welle (early Der Plan) as well as proto-industrial and experimental new wave. Contains bonus track of cover of "Waiting For My Man". This reissue is presented on high-quality 180gram opaque "baby pink" vinyl. Features slight alteration and reinterpretation of the original front cover and redesigned back cover. Limited edition.

exposure as the source of his calling: "One of the first physical records I fell in love with was Electric Light

The Dubless - Icarus

Early support from Coyote, Idjut Boys, Pete Herbert, Leo Mas. Deeply rooted psychedelic disco. Remix by Tokyo-based Englishman MAX ESSA. 180g vinyl deluxe packaging

The Dubless originally from Tokyo came back again with a brand-new song, "ICARUS". The release of the original version of "ICARUS" is the most long-awaited song along with the others in the latest mini album. The original sounds like 80's symbolic bass-line represented by Giorgio Moroder but the remix has changed to more raw groove by live drumming having some resemblance like brand new Daft Punk album which huge effects to dance music scene for all over the world. Also their remake has achieved not just longer, but more simple than the original version. The remixer is a world-famous DJ, Max Essa, who has released his successful brand-new album 'Won Ton Sunset'. We can enjoy his 80's style, one of his characteristics, throughout the remix. Especially, the middle of the song with piano is not only powerful but also elegant and it accelerates the song even faster. It is the remix with danceable and musical elements. A mastering Engineer, Chester Beatty has released high-quality techno music since early 90's. He is also known as a person who taught The Dubless how to create music. He has received excellent reputation in composition and mastering from plenty of experiences in his career. The beautiful jacket featuring a motif of "Birds", which catch people's eyes, is an Suno Fujimoto (sanpo design)'s work . Its typography done by Art Director, G, is thought of brevity of Zen. He shows that the record is not an expendable but an art work.

The Jellies - The Conversation

REPRESS ALERT: With just one 7" release to their name in the form of the 1981 release, Jive Baby On A Saturday Night, the cult of The Jellies was possibly accidentally assured with the long lost song being rediscovered by collectors and championed by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore no less. Picked up and reissued by the stellar Trunk Records in 2010, the B-side cut, however, was sadly overlooked. Now Emotional Rescue are proud to license The Conversation and remaster it especially for this rerelease. Based around a simple drum and bass rhythm, interspersed with crowd noise, playful female vocal yelps and sprinkled with dub effects thrown in to the mix and you wouldn't probably think too much would be going for a track that the band put together in the last two hours of their studio time after Jive Baby had been completed. However, what you get is a killer gem of pop-punk-dub oddness that gets your head nodding to its infectious, repetitive rhythm laden with effects. With just this one (perfect) track available for license it seemed only right to hand it over to the in-house production team, Apophenia, to do their increasingly trademark dubbed out reworking, this time in the form of a true, but respectful "Version" for the flip. With both members of The Jellies sadly now living overseas this piece of early '80s British dub as it were, can now be fully treasured for posterity while also, proving a nice little smokers delight.
