Grammy nominated recording artist and legendary guitarist as well as Ambassador of Japan Heritage (!) Marty Friedman returns with WALL OF SOUND, the much anticipated follow up to his Billboard charting album, INFERNO. 11 bombastic tracks featuring a diverse group of guests: Jinxx (Black Veil Brides), Shiv Mehra (Deafheaven) and Jorgen Munkeby (Shining), WALL OF SOUND explores, expands and destroys any conventional notions of instrumental music. It was produced by Friedman, engineered by Paul Fig (Ghost, Rush, Alice In Chains) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Lamb of God, Opeth). Legendary Queen producer, Mack, came on board to handle the mixing on two tracks, Streetlight' and For a Friend'. Regarding the writing and recording process on Wall Of Sound, Friedman responded with this, It`s a challenge to evolve album after album, especially on your 13th solo album. Not only as a songwriter but it is imperative to do new things on my instrument as well. Luckily this is a challenge that I love. You will find this hard to believe when you hear the density and sheer amount of guitar coming at you from all directions, but in fact all of the final guitar tracks on Wall Of Sound were done in 9 days.' Once again, Friedman assembled an incredible and diverse group of musicians to record and guest on Wall Of Sound.

Summoned to play it the old way in a new age, Trondheim, Norway quintet Dunbarrow draws inspiration from freezing winter nights, unpolished demo tapes from the 70's and the Swedish throwback rock from the beginning of the 21st century. The result is Norwegian proto-doom with a back-to-basics sound, from Pentagram and Witchfinder General to Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Dunbarrow's clean, unadorned sound shares the unpretentious brilliance of classic heavy progenitors playing basements and barns, before the big budgets and bloated habits diluted hard rock into an echo chamber awash in reverb and layered in distant, screeching hobbits. The band's 9-track self-titled album is a classic in the sense that every song becomes instantly recognizable after just one listen.
With lyrics like the clever paean to a young witch mother's birth of Lucifer's Child', Dunbarrow has a wealth of gloomy sentiments: Can you understand my young mother's plight / Away from the comforts that burn at the stake / She gave birth to a venomous snake / On her great pyre she smiled / For she carried Lucifer's child.'
Dunbarrow is based in the far northern Norwegian city Trondheim, but is originally from Haugesund on the west coast of Norway. The band has been playing together for over 8 years through different band names and genres. In 2014, vocalist Espen Andersen joined the band upon the departure of original singer/bassist Richard Chappell. Sondre Berge went from playing drums to playing bass. Kenneth Lønning and Eirik Øvregård are still on the guitars, with Pål Gunnar Dale taking over the drums permanently in 2016. Espen Andersen recorded and mixed the debut album at Stoy Studios. Dunbarrow is hitting the studio for their second album this summer.

* 8 is a continuous flux of music, a singular entity, which can be defined in micro measurements by its eight satellite songs. Each track expands upon the preceding song, unfolding into an exceedingly dense, malevolent and formidable journey, resulting in this being UFOMAMMUT's most extreme outing yet, with zero breathing room in the forty-eight-minute venture. The album's predecessor Ecate has now been put to rest and we can be assured that 8 is an essential turning point in the infinity that is UFOMMAMUT's sonic signature.

8 is a continuous flux of music, a singular entity, which can be defined in micro measurements by its 8 satellite songs. This flow can also be seen when you tip 8 horizontally, thus it morphs into the leniscate from algebraic geometry - 8 - a plane curve that meets at central point - or more commonly known as the infinity symbol.

A continuous stream of movement reflective of the uninterrupted nature of the album but also the continued togetherness of the essential elements of the band - Urlo, Poia and Vita - since the beginning of the band's history in 1999. 8 tipped vertically sees us return to the number 8.

It must be stressed there is no singular pronunciation of the title, 8 is to be spoken in every language e.g. 'eight' in Engish, 'otto' in Italian, 'acht' in German, huit in french and so on.

Formed in 2013, by McKenzie, drummer Jamie Barnes and bassist Ben Reffin, Megalomatic do indeed sing about real life issues and they do so with equal parts muscle and heart. A power trio whose musical might comes across as a mixture of Biffy Clyro by way of Mastodon, Megalomatic have proven, over the course of their young career, that heavy music can have profound emotional resonance.

While the band's debut album Hunt For The Midnight Sasquatch showcased their penchant to play metal that was informed as much by Black Peaks as it was by "South Park," the band's new EP Symbolism is a jaw-dropping batch of new material that represents a massive creative leap forwards both lyrically and sonically.

While Megalomatic can play it dark, fast and heavy, their songs have surprising breaks and shifts that catch the listener off guard and beg for repeat listens. Their varied musical tastes that range from Snoop Dogg to Ice Cube to Everything Everything, demonstrate that this is a band that draws inspiration from the least likely of places.

This can best be evinced in Megalomatic's pre-show ritual, which is perhaps one of the more surprising reveals you'll run into all year.

"As a band we hype ourselves up before playing a show," McKenzie laughs, "by listening to Will Smith - in the car and before we hit the stage."

To start the ball rolling, Megalomatic start their UK tour with an EP launch with DF Concerts in Glasgow, this Sept., 2017.

Minneapolis dwellers LIVID bring towering riffage and mammoth doom metal on their Prosthetic debut 'Beneath This Shroud, The Earth Erodes', a sonically cathartic endeavor with nods to the trio's major influeces: Evoken, Mournful Congratulation and Eyehategod to the Melvins, Boris and Tool.

Originally formed in 2013, by 2015 the trio had been evolving their riffs to lay them down to tape and teamed up with producer, Ali Jaafar at Ecstattic Studio to record their first demo. The two part, 22 minute opus, Sint, was released on Bandcamp in the Summer of that year and was met with wide acclaim in the metal underground. Doomed & Stoned, The Burning Beard, as well as Seattle radio station, KEXP, all jumped on board as early flag waivers for the band. 'Sint' was powerful, both in riff and vocals. Benson's vocal style was often compared to Gregorian Monks chants. They are haunting and perfectly complimented the eerie, punishing riffs he played combined with the thunderous support of drummer Leick and bassist Padelford. Throughout the remainder of the year, Livid shared the stage with bands such as Theories, Bell Witch, Cobalt and Mantar.

ZAKK SABBATH: BLACK SABBATH COVER BAND LED BY GUITARIST / VOCALIST ZAKK WYLDE TO RELEASE LIMITED LIVE IN DETROIT LP VIA SOUTHERN LORD, "WAR PIGS" VIDEO CLIP POSTED.

Zakk Sabbath, the Black Sabbath all-star cover band featuring guitarist/vocalist Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne), bassist Blasko (Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie), and drummer Joey Castillo (Danzig, Queens Of The Stone Age, Bl'ast!) will release the limited edition Live In Detroit LP via Southern Lord Recordings on June 16th.

The three tracks comprising Live In Detroit were captured at the band's thundering performance at The Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan on October 28th, 2016. Southern Lord will release Live In Detroit as a onetime, vinyl-only pressing . Additionally, the band will have the Live In Detroit LP available for purchase throughout their upcoming tour .

OVERKILL, are one of the cult bands when it comes to Trash-Metal, and have worked in many styles in their decade long career, but they have always remained loyal to their main sound: hard, raw and straight. They have released 19 albums (!) so far: "I Hear Black" released in 1993, was their sixth album and was only available on CD, except for an Korean special vinyl edition. The cult album will now be released on orange vinyl with black smoke effect.

Formed in 2006, BUILDINGS is a three piece from Minneapolis. Their music is loud, aggressive, and dynamic. Melt Cry Sleep was the band's 2nd full-length, and the follow up to 2008's self-released Braille Animal (recently reissued on doubleplusgood). Engineer, Jacques Waite (off with their heads, motion city soundtrack) and mastering engineer Bob Weston (shellac) perfectly reigned in the band's furious energy, allowing room for the 10 tightly wound tracks on Melt Cry Sleep to breathe in contrast to their raw & visceral live sets.

Now the band will release its highly anticipated 3rd LP You Are Not One Of Us recorded in world famous Pachyderm Studios. Engineered by Nick Tveitbakk and mastered by Adam Tucker at Signaturetone Recordings, these 11 tracks show Buildings maturing into a band that can not only produce gut wrenching noise, but at the same time blur the lines that divide many rock sub-genres - punk, noise rock, post hardcore - and end up with a sound that is dynamic, raw, and absolutely massive. Nothing is held back in terms of energy and aggression, but it's executed in a way that is entirely organic. Something that you can bang your head and sing along to.

With Falls of Rauros' 4th full-length album, Vigilance Perennial, a vital complexity and multifaceted emotion is at the forefront of this stunning quartet's musical creativity, drive and evolution.
