Kayak was formed in 1972, around composer and keyboardist Ton Scherpenzeel, and revealed themselves as trendsetter in the symphonic genre. Scoring hit singles with Mammoth', Starlight Dancer' and delivering very convincing albums with Royal Bed Bouncer, The Last Encore and many more, they are still active more than four decades after their fresh start in the seventies.

After a couple of years there was a change in formation, a new bass player, a new drummer, a new male vocalist and expanding with two female backing vocalists. This revised crew worked on Phantom Of The Night which was one of the first ever albums to be recorded in the then new Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum. The album sold very well and gained Kayak the mention from Record World magazine as the most promising newcomer of 1979.

Continuing the success resulted in the band delivering music for Paul Verhoeven's controversial film Spetters in 1980. Theme From Spetters', was written especially for the movie. Lost Blue Of Chartres' and Anne', the latter reaching the national Top 40, are also included on this double vinyl album. Try To Write A Book', Golddust' and six more B side singles give a nice overview of their career.

Livin' Blues was founded in the late sixties in The Hague by Ted Oberg, other members were Nicko Christiansen and John Lagrand. The band's sturdy blues rock had an almost universal appeal and they performed for crowds in Poland, England, Switzerland and of course all over the The Netherlands.

Former Golden Earring's drummer Jaap Eggermont as producer and guitarist George Kooymans provided Livin' Blues with their first single Murphy McCoy'. Their style was beefy blues rock, tough and swinging which further developed with Wang Dang Doodle', L.B. Boogie', Boogie Woogie Woman' and resulted in working with famous producer Mike Vernon who had studio time with celebrities like John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac.

On the double vinyl album included are B side singles like My Sister Kate', One Night Blues', album tracks Bamboozle', Diving Duck Blues' and many more Dutch blues songs taken from their vast repertoire.

Formed out of the ashes of the legendary UK mod-pop group, The Action, Mighty Baby kept much of that group's soul-inflected pop-psych sound but upped the psych ante quite considerably. Mighty Baby stands as one of the most cohesive and coveted of 1960s UK psych. It is the complete package, blistering guitar work from Martin Stone, studio trickery, amazing songwriting, great vocals, this record is the real deal and fully deserving of its reputation. The band would go on to record with legends like Keith Christmas, Sandy Denny, and more, as well as record a second album in 1971, but nothing can surpass the pure psych perfection of their debut.

Swapping bucolic Poland for the buzz of the Big Apple, the Hamburg imprint reaches a magnificent seven in the company of synth-pop dreamer Shy Layers (JD Walsh to his mum) and his sublime self titled debut.

Over the course of ten emotional pop serenades, the New York musician recalls lost days sofa surfing to the lounge electronica of Air, Mellow and early Phoenix or the swooning lo-fi psychedelia of a pre-MD Simian. Shy Layers welcomes us aboard with the shimmering pads and soothing soft synths of 'Black & White', a drifting soundtrack to a John Hughes-directed episode of 'In The Night Garden'. From there we swerve into the wistful synth-pop of 'Famous Faces', locking into the rattling Tears For Fears groove while the West Coast guitar licks and vocoder vocals f loat off into the distance. 'You Won't Find Me' shuff les through afro-tronic keyboard lines, Beta Band breakbeats and loose funk guitar before the sweltering 'Stabilized Waves' dips a toe in the Med, swaying gently to the fluid bass, acoustic strumming and cascading electric guitar. Swapping continents to close the A-side, 'Too Far Out' finds Walsh working highlife guitars and fuzzy sanza sequences into a pie-
ce of perfect off-kilter pop. The B-side begins in glitchy fashion with the flying hats and seesaw synths of 'Holding It Back', before 'Playing The Game' offers sprinklers over summer lawns, dub
fx, jangling guitars and cooing vocals. The afrobeat influence shines through once again on the rhythmic 'Bees & Bamboo' before 'SEG' sees Shy Layers don Mario's Red Wing cap for a chip-set
safari through the bright blue sky. Playing us out with the same cinematic splendour with which we began, Walsh conjures a woozy, sun-dappled mood for the sumptuous '1977'.

Fusing French pop, glistening Americana, 80s AOR and afrobeat into a hazy vision of balmy mor-nings, long evenings and lazy days, Shy Layers has served up the soundtrack to your summer.

The Dutch city of The Hague earned the honorary title of being the Liverpool of The Netherlands, thanks to the success of The Motions and many more bands during that time.
The Motions with singer Rudy van den Berg, who renamed himself Rudy Bennett, guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, bassist Henk Smitskamp, drummer Sieb Warner were the pioneers as they had the best songs and mastered their instruments like no other.

In 1965 they scored an instant classic hit with the pop song Wasted Words' in the Dutch Top 40, after that the success continued with Why Don't You Take It', The Same Old Song' and a sung plea to legalize drugs Tonight Will Be Stoned'. The debut album Introducing The Motions was released in 1965 as a classic example of Nederbeat and for their next in England recorded album Their Own Way, they got help from the mysterious frontman of The Walker Brothers, Scott Walker. Included here are also three solo songs by Rudy Bennett How Can We Hang On To A Dream', Amy' and I'm So Proud' plus a fine selection of B side singles.

The Outsiders were formed in Amsterdam 1960, and although the sixties pop scene in the Netherlands was dominated by bands from The Hague, they were equally dominant in that period.
Wherever the band performed there would always be skirmishes, either by the audience or the band's own ever present thugs. Led by lead singer Wally Tax, The Outsiders played their rough and uncompromising sound that would slowly bring the band to fame.

Lying All The Time' provided The Outsiders their first top ten hit in 1966 and songs like Keep On Trying', Touch', Monkey On Your Back' and Summer Is Here' also entered the Dutch Top 40 and are included on the double vinyl album. To complete the package there's ten B side singles with amongst others Thinking About Today', Daddy Died On Saturday' and a selection of songs from their albums The Outsiders and CQ referring to the AND MORE' title.

Recorded in 1968, sequenced and prepared for release this was to be the debut album by

The album never appears and the band disappears to reconfigure as the BLUE OYSTER CULT
a year later.

I'm On The Lamb' was re-recorded and appeared on the self titled debut album for BLUE OYSTER CULT. Elements of Gil Blanco County' and Arthur Comics' were later worked into their repertoire live and feature on the live albums Some Enchanted Evening and On Your Feet Or On Your Knees.

These recordings are where it all started.

This pivotal work refines the music that has come before and signals a new direction. Waits, in possibly the finest voice of his career, worked with a veteran team of gifted musicians and longt-ime co-writer/producer Kathleen Brennan. From the opening horn-fueled chug of Chicago,' to the closing barroom chorale of New Year's Eve,' Bad As Me displays the full career range of Waits' songwriting, from beautiful ballads like Last Leaf,' to the avant cinematic soundscape of Hell Broke Luce,' a battlefront dispatch.

Selected here are some of Holland's most successful bands from the sixties and seventies. Songs from The Motions' Wasted Words', The Outsiders' Lying All The Time' and Rudy Bennett's smash hit How Can We Hang On To A Dream' represent the early beginnings of the Dutch Nederbeat sound. Golden Earrings' (before the name was shortened to Golden Earring) Sound Of The Screaming Day', The Shoes Don't You Cry For A Girl' and The Cats' Times Were When' conclude Side A. Continuing on Side B with Sandy Coast's Capital Punishment', the blues influenced Livin' Blues' 'Wang Dang Doodle', Brainbox's To You', Earth and Fire's Storm And Thunder' and concluding with the symfonic rock from Kayak's Mammoth.

Thomas Leer is an innovative electronic musician from Port Glasgow, Scotland. He began singing for a local band at age 13, and was writing his own music by 18. By 1977, he had moved to London, where he fronted Pressure, a Clash­-esque punk group with fellow experimental Scottish musician Robert Rental. After hearing Kraftwerk, Leer became interested in synthesizers â not long after, he was exploring the experimental techniques of Eno, Zappa, Beefheart, Faust, and Can. In 1978, Thomas released his first single, 'Private Plane'/'International', on his own Oblique Records that we reissued in 2015. '1979' is a 14-song collection spread across two pieces of vinyl clocking in at 70 minutes. Leer says, '1979' was a great year for making music. The punk explosion two years earlier, cleansed the palate and opened up minds to new sonic possibilities. It was in this spirit I took to exploring electronics and set up my first little home studio. Bearing in mind this was before such luxuries as Portastudios or affordable multi-tracks, I decided sound quality was less important than experimentation and innovation, so I pressed on with the meager equipment I had. My tabletop studio in Crouch End, North London, consisted of two cassette machines, a copycat tape echo, some FX pedals, Ring Modulator, Guitar, Bass & Wasp Synthesizer.' Songs range from half serene atmospheres, to minimal rhythmic workouts, to tape loops layered behind distorted guitars, to cold layered singing, all with a psychedelic lo-fi attitude. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket features an industrial photo of a man standing on an overpass with a passing truck taken by Thomasâ brother Andy Wishart in 1980. Each copy includes a two­-sided black and white postcard with liner notes by Thomas. 38 years later this is fresh UK D.I.Y. post­-punk, compelling pop with a dark heart, vacillating between the pretty disturbing and the disturbingly pretty.

- Chris Difford's place in the pantheon of great English songwriters is assured - surely nearly everyone can sing along to at
least one Squeeze song.
- So in anticipation of the new Squeeze album The Knowledge' (and extensiveUK and US tours this autumn), and following
Chris's autobiography and demos album as well as Edsel's CD box set of Difford's three solo albums (I DIDN'T GET WHERE
I AM (2002), THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIS (2008) and CASHMERE IF YOU CAN (2011)), we now present all three albums on vinyl, with outer and inner sleeves, gathered together in a handsome rigid slipcase.
- Of these only the first album has appeared briefly on LP before - The Last Temptation...' and Cashmere...' make their
vinyl debuts.
- The inner sleeves feature all thealbum lyrics, track-by-track sleevenotes and brand new notes by Chris about the writing
and recording of each album.

Led by the fanciful charm of singer/multi-instrumentalist Tim Karmouche (The Murlocs, Dreamin' Wild), Crepes came about in Ballarat, Australia through high-school friends Nick (drums) and Pat Robbins (bass). The band later grew to include lead guitarist Sam Cooper (formerly of Fraser A. Gorman) and keyboardist Jackson Dahlenburg (Tropical Snakes, Robot Fox), after relocating to Melbourne.

Their first new music since their 2015 debut self-titled EP, 2017 sees Crepes reemerge with a newfound gusto and their debut album Channel Four. Holding true to the quintet's signature brand of quaint and catchy guitar-pop, it is a nostalgic and disarmingly earnest exploration of young love, aspiration, self-doubt and lost relationships.

Channeling inspirations as diverse as DEVO, Gary Numan and Cass McCombs, Crepes' retro-edged pop ranges from the jaunty, surf-glazed jangle of "Cold Summers", to the dreamy and introspective synth strains of "Size of Your Town".

Channel Four's playfully titled first offering,"Sexyland", chugs along with the zeal of a group eager to make an impression. Shimmering keys flicker over a driving rhythm and steel string slide-guitar, hinting at the band's love of mid-'70s rock 'n' roll (think Paul McCartney's Wings, or Steely Dan's more stripped-back moments), also evident in "9-5 Summer Breakers" and "Mild Conversation".More introspective, at times experimental, moments can be found in the cosmic-calypso of "Four Years Time" and the hazy, Numan-indebted title track,"Channel Four".

Self-produced alongside David M Turner esq. (Redspencer, Tourist Dollars), the record was fully realised with the help of Woods' Jarvis Taveniere (Mild High Club, Charlie Hilton), and Joseph Carra (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Dick Diver) on mixing and mastering duties respectively.

The Au Pairs, Pylon, Priests, XTC, Essential Logic, Bush Tetras, Delta 5. Display Homes are an Australian three-piece pop band that formed one night in late 2016 at a pool table in Marrickville - Greg and Darrell met Steph, who'd just come back to Sydney from Germany and reckoned she could play drums. Their first practice involved an abysmal attempt at a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Dancin in the Moonlight'", and they soon realised Steph clearly hadn't been in a band before and Greg shouldn't sing. Regardless, the connection between them all was obvious, and the songs began to crop up naturally. Just a few months after their first trip to the studio, Display Homes' self-titled debut 7" is being released through London-based record label Tough Love Records on (XXX). The three songs were recorded in April of this year in David Akerman's studio in Marrickville, and just like all great current Australian music, they were later mastered by Mikey Young. As far as debuts go, it's effortlessly perfect. In this brief time together, the band have played a host of short and fast shows across Australia, alongside other great locals such as UV Race, Low Life and Orion. Buoyed by the inherent intensity that informs the Sydney DIY music community and a shared love for a wide range of 80s music, Display Homes play discordant pop-orientated post punk with a refreshing lack of self-awareness and lyrical honesty. In fact, Steph's autodidactic approach to music means the lyrics were formed into songs somewhat unknowingly. As each song originates from a foolish nature and a tendency to improvise songs in any day-to-day situation, the end result is a set of direct, slightly jarring but infectious pop songs.

Château Laut's Stefan Fähler writes: "I contacted Damo in 2009. He didn't reply immediately and at one point I just forgot about it... So, it was a huge surprise when he replied, exactly a year to the day later, explaining his email's calendar was weird and he had only just now received my mail. Quickly, we arranged all details for our concert-to-be.

We first met a couple of months later, at the airport. We picked him up in the morning and were stoned just an hour later in our kitchen. The energy for the whole day was so peaceful and warm. On the way to soundcheck we saw barricades and police vans on the streets in readiness for 1 May - a date famous in Berlin for rioting and protest. We joked about this "predictable riot", marked in calendars for all to see.

The gig at Ausland proceeded organically. We shared many beautiful moments, both on and off stage. Damo was so much into the atmosphere and the crowd that, after our main set, we went on-stage a second time. Afterwards, we crashed at our place, downing a couple of whiskeys before going to sleep, happy.

We kept in touch. He became something close to a spiritual mentor for me. He gave us contacts around the globe for travels and put me in touch with many nice people. Following the success of their debut 7inch "Heavy Tint/Dip-Dab", Brighton psych-funk combo MNP (featuring Beta Hector and his long-time bandmates from Baby Charles and Derriere) returns with a new single.Heavy 70's slasher-inspired "Ratto Nero" on the A-side is backed with the spooky flute-driven "Beard" on the flip. With additional spices and bat tails from Markey Funk, this horror-themed new release on the Delights label drops right on time for Halloween.

Having just added knockout performances at The Great Escape, Download and TRNSMT festival's to their list of achievements this year, The LaFontaines return with a 10-date UK headline tour and the their second studio album, 'Common Problem', scheduled for release via A Wolf At Your Door Records on the 27th October 2017. Produced by Joe Cross (The Courteeners), 'Common Problem' has all the hallmarks of a band having honed their sound. With frontman Kerr Okan's sociopolitical commentary at the heart of an explosive, angst ridden record, darker than the last and laced with truth and reality - This is The LaFontaines.

First single, 'Asleep' drops on Friday 11th August, with the video following on Tuesday 15th August. 'Asleep' is a perfect representation of The LaFontaines - bold, unapologetic and packed full of energy.

'Common Problem' is a much darker record than our debut release. We're not as young and naive as we were in our early twenties. With a full run of UK dates kicking off in August 2017, The LaFontaines are gearing up for a relentless string of dates and new material in the run up to the release. Known globally for their phenomenal live performances, the band are incredibly excited about finally showcasing new material to fans.

In 1975, CAMIZOLE was an early french electronic duet that used to play many summer festivals. Thus, a recording was done at "Festival de Solymieux", then was sent to Klaus Schulze and Klaus D. Müller, who were interested in producing an album. Unfortunaly, the band didn't last long enough. 42 years later, this sought-after tape resurfaces on a limited vinyl edition for the first time ever.

The Guardian. It's 1932 and Danish film director Carl Theodor is making a movie of a grim tale for both French and German audiences. To get over the language barrier he decides to have the majority of dialogue on silent movie title cards. Imagine the scene, you're sleepy, you're in a strange house, you doze. You wake with as a man places a package on the table with a note instructing it should be opened only on his death. He vanishes. Inevitably you're lured to a castle, the man is shot, you open the package, it's a book about horrific demons called vampyrs. The castle is manned by servants - there are also two sisters (one with bite wounds, the other in a trance-like stupor), a doctor and an old woman complete the cast. There's a blood transfusion to save one of the sisters followed by a dream like sequence where you're buried alive. It's a cliff hanger, we'll leave it there... Some 70 years later, what's needed is a band who used to rehearse above a cemetery in Malmo to play live on Hallowe'en at the Fantastisk Filmfestival, Lunds Stadsteater. One year to the day later, they release the music in a now super rare limited edition of 150 blood red cassettes. Now re-issued as a double vinyl package, 'Vampyr' is full of eerie haunted ambience' (©The Guardian), an atmospheric and spaced out 78 minutes that galvanizes Moog, glockenspiel, zither and vibraphonette in a beautiful piece of claustrophobia, a timeless slice of suitably scary sound filled with an unnerving sonic vibe that sticks in the psyche.

The personnel were drawn from Nicks bandmates on 1987s John Hiatt masterpiece, Bring the Family (Lowe on bass, Jim Keltner on drums and Ry Cooder on guitar) combined with the twin heads of the band The Moonlighters (Austi n DeLone-- ex of Eggs Over Easy and Bill Kirchen-- Original Lost Planet Airman and twang kingpin). Nick brought in Dave Edmunds to produce and play even more guitar. They rip through a fantasti c batch of original songs highlighted by All Men Are Liars and Whats Shakin on the Hill which are still staples of Nicks live show. This strong eff ort led into the Litt le Village project and can be considered the fi nal chapter in the fi rst half of Nicks career.

On Pinker and Prouder Than Previous, Nick found himself wrapping up his obligati on to Columbia Records. Perhaps his most varied release, Pinker and Prouder Than Previous was recorded in Austi n, TX, the famed Rockfield Studios in Wales, and in London.

Odd disturbances are about. Yes, definitely odd. Deep, carnal rumblings akin to the kind one only feels in times of great danger, or great reverence. The kind of hyper-intense inter-environmental buzzing that drives men to kill for no reason they can feverishly describe at a later period when the buzzing finally ceases, and their sanity returns with the cold, wet realization of the deeds they committed with their own god-given hands.
 
PERHAPS came into existence at the hands of Jim Haney at the Berklee College of Music in 2012. 'V' is their fifth release, the previous 4 being self released gaining infamy amongst listeners, and notably collaborating with Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple), Cotton Casino (Acid Mothers Temple), Tabata Mitsuru (Acid Mothers Temple), Kenneth Topham (Giraffes Giraffes), Man Man (Bryan Murphy), Grass Is Green / Speedy Ortiz (Devin McKnight), Ben Talmi (Art Decade / Ben Talmi solo), Damo Suzuki (Can) etc.
 
As Perhaps' discography grew, stories of the group's incredibly unorthodox and experimental methods of composition and recording began to emerge.
 
With 'V', the band's fifth release, now finished and impending release; it appears as if their approach to recording and composition has changed very little by means of mystical influence and general mischief. The months in which the recording of 'V' took place was certainly interesting, rumours

TETRAGON was a short-lived German band with ecological concerns. In 1971, they recorded this (mainly) instrumental album enlighted by the sound of Hammond organ and wha-wha guitar, melting krautrock with classical music and jazz influences. A must-have for early 70s prog fans!

« Bad Part Of Town » collects six of the twelve known early Sky Saxon solo songs, plus all six early 1970s Seeds songs. Included are both sides of the 1961 Richie Marsh and The Hoodwinks single, "Baby Baby Baby" and "Half Angel", both Sky Saxon and The Soul-Rockers sides from 1964, "Go Ahead And Cry" and the re-recorded version of "They Say", and both Sky Saxon and The Electra-Fires tracks from 1964, "Do The Swim" and "Trouble With My Baby".

The Zephyr Bones' hazy, melodic, psychedelic rock flickers with memories that span the distance that separates the native Chile of guitarists and vocalists Brian Silva and Jossip Tkalcic, and the band's current base in Barcelona, Spain - which is also home to rhythm section, Marc López and Carlos Ramos. The songs on their debut album, Secret Place, share something very intimate and invite the listener to travel to their own secret places, filled with dreams and promises, hidden away from the hectic world and these troubling times. The Zephyr Bones emerged in 2015 with their debut EP, Wishes/Fishes, on Spanish label La Castanya, earning them a showcase at Barcelona's famed Primavera Sound. The video for 'Weird Summer' was debuted via Noisey who called it, 'hazy pop vibes like a hit of serotonin.' The band returned in 2016 with the Black Lips/Surrounded By Sunflowers 7' single, co-released worldwide between the New York label Other Music Recording Co. and La Castanya. DIY magazine featured The Zephyr Bones in a story on the Spanish underground rock scene, alongside Hinds and MOURN. In the past year the band have become a go-to support act for artists coming through Spain including
Future Islands and Boogarins.

The Zephyr Bones might reside in Barcelona but the songs on Secret Place span the galaxy. The single 'Juglar Child on the Carousel' is set on Mars, 'Las Olas' on Neptune, and 'September' is left to roast on the sun. Then again, 'I've Lost My Dinosaur' seems to be set in a delirious dream state all of its own. The album opener 'Hurricanes' sets the mood with the line, 'your eyes on the sunset', heading to an innocent place to escape the world and listen to the gentle whispering psychedelia. 'Telephone' tells of a long distance love affair, while 'Penny's Week' is about fleeing from a relationship, spending a week skate boarding and fucking off. Caught between suspense and narcosis, The Zephyr Bones provide the coordinates to their favourite place. It's not the place itself that is important but that it should be kept personal —it should be your own secret place, which can be anywhere, physical or non-physical— a place or a feeling that is kept close to heart. It could be special memories of love - with partners or friends, separated by bed sheets, miles or light years. All these are stored in the tracks on Secret Place, whether you hear them on Venus, Pluto, the Pacific, the Mediterranean coast, looking out at the sea from Chile, Barcelona, or your living room.
