The Death Wheelers - I Tread On Your Grave
  • 1: I Tread On Your Grave
  • 2: 13 Discycles
  • 3: Roadkill
  • 4: Sleazy Rider Returns
  • 5: Deaf Wheelers
  • 6: Black Crack
  • 7: Moto Vampiro
  • 8: Purple Wings
  • 9: Backstabber
  • 10: Rip (Last Rie)
  • 11: Moby Dick 1

Heavily inspired by the aesthetics and ethos of bikesploitation movies such as The Wild Angels, Werewolves on Wheels and Psychomania, The Death Wheelers seek to glorify this unsung era of movie making through their sordid sounds. Taking musical cues from rock's greats such as Davie Allan, The Cramps, Motörhead, The Stooges and Grand Funk Railroad, the Death Wheelers perpetrate the tradition of heaviness by making zero compromises when it comes to laying down the groove. Through their bare bone, stripped down, jammy approach of their very own brand of sleaze n' roll, this instrumental Canadian quartet pushes the listeners to their deepest, filthiest carnal/sexual desires.
I Tread On Your Grave is more than just an album — it's devised to
serve like the soundtrack to a wild B-movie in your mind, following this truly awesome plot synopsis: Decimated in 1972 by local authorities, all members of The Death Wheelers, a notorious motorcycle club, have been buried at the Surrey cemetery. But the time has come and they have risen for their last ride.
They're back from the grave and they're hungry for blood! Nothing can stop this gang of living dead from recruiting new members as they travel coast to coast to find the filthiest, nastiest, trashiest individuals to join their ranks. Their goal, assemble a legion of 13 discycles' (disciples+cycles) to seek revenge on the pigs that dismantled the club and send them to their graves. The cycle of violence continues...
Yes, please! Their debut LP, a sonic desecration dedicated to the dead, is an ode to the earlier days of rock 'n' roll when lust and danger were an integral part of the scene and culture. This violent offering of pure aural aggression, recorded full band with no bells and whistles or studio trickery, is a testament to what The Death Wheelers stand for: rawness and power.

The Moondoggies - A Love Sleeps Deep

  • 4: Sick In Bed

  • 8: Underground (A Love Sleeps Deep)

A Love Sleeps Deep's bones rattle with all the seismic changes of the last five years since the release of The Moondoggies' Adios I'm a Ghost. While the Washington band got lumped in early on with the woodsy folk-rock/Americana movement that sprung up in the Pacific Northwest in the 2000s, the core Moondoggies sound has always been rock in the more classical sense—more Pink Floyd than Woody Guthrie. A Love Sleeps Deep crystalizes that. Perhaps more importantly, A Love Sleeps Deep finds singer/guitarist Kevin Murphy at his most pointed as a songwriter. There's no lyrical pussyfooting this time around. Lacking the need to prove himself, he opens up and lays bare his feelings. Generally, I feel frustrated because there's a lot of this escapist stuff going on in rock and roll,' says Murphy. I just didn't want to not talk about my frustrations with what I was seeing around me. I have two little girls now, and I'm just thinking about where things are going. Love in my life has changed everything.' Recorded in Seattle in the spring of 2017 with production wizard Erik Blood (Shabazz Places, Tacocat, THEESatisfaciton), A Love Sleeps Deep is also an album of collaboration. The band seemingly threw each tune up in the air to see how it bounced around the room, making sure everyone got their hands on it. From around 30 initial demos, Blood helped select the most jam-heavy numbers. They had that vibe that made me love the band in the first place, but with a weathered distinction and confidence that moved me,' says Blood

The Third Bardo - I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time
  • 1: I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time
  • 2: Rainbow Life
  • 3: Dawn Of Tomorrow
  • 4: Lose Your Mind
  • 5: Randbow Life (Alternate Version)
  • 6: I Can Understand Your Problem

The short-lived but much-loved Third Bardo may have been Five Years Ahead of Their Time in 1967, but the world still hasn't caught up! The New York quintet only existed for a brief period, during which they released one now-rare single. The Third Bardo's entire recorded output amounts to six tracks, all cut on a single day in 1967, and produced, oddly enough, by former '50s singer Teddy Randazzo, best known for the hits he wrote for the decidedly non-psychedelic Little Anthony and the Imperials.

The quality of the Third Bardo's work far outweighs its quantity, as evidenced by the band's ongoing influence in the decades since it vanished from the scene. Such mind-meltingly brilliant garage-psych nuggets as "I'm Five Years Ahead of My Time," "Rainbow Life" and "Lose Your Mind" captured the imaginations of subsequent generations of fans, inspiring covers by such combos as the Cramps and the Nomads.

For many years, the Third Bardo's tunes, when available at all, were scattered amongst various hard-to-find compilation albums. Fortunately, we've come to the rescue with this six-song, 10-inch vinyl EP, which gathers every known Third Bardo track in one handy package. The disc includes both sides of the band's rare original Roulette single, as well as a never-before-heard alternate take of "Rainbow Life." It's the perfect ticket for a trip to a new dimension!

Various - The Other Side Of Italy: The Beginning of The Post-Punk and Art-Rock Era

46

Collected here in a deluxe boxed set are 4 of the finest Spittle compilations of 1980s Italian post-punk, art-rock, and synth-wave. MILANO NEW WAVE, SAMPLES ONLY, iV3SCR, and BODY SECTION feature some of the heavy hitters of the era including DIE FORM, FRIGIDAIRE TANGO, RINF, and more as well as more obscure artists who may have only appeared ever on these comps. A brilliant box of Italian 80s WAVE that gives a wonderful overview of the depth and breadth of the scene. Limited edition boxed set.

Individual volume descriptions and track listing are below:

MILANO NEW WAVE: 1980-1983 REDUX:
Following an idea of Italian disco guru Fred Ventura to publish some recordings that have remained in the vaults for more than 25 years, and thanks to the skillful "mastering touch" of Giovanni Versari, Spittle Records present a representative and intense snapshot of the Milanese new-wave scene of the early eighties with Milano New Wave: 1980-83 Redux. Twelve tracks that recount the salient steps of the brief but intense career of four Milanese bands from the post-punk of Other Side, to the oblique funk of State Of Art, to the Kraftwerk influences of La Maison, to the electro pop-wave of Jeunesse d'Ivoire. "Boris Karloff" features Kubrix and 2+2=5 playing with La Maison, forming the group known as Entourage L'Asino. These four bands illustrate the mood of an underground scene that burned out rapidly, mostly due to the indifference of the media and recording industry during those years.

SAMPLES ONLY:
First ever reissue of a sought-after Italian compilation highlighting all the potential of the northeastern Italian post-punk scene, originally released in 1981. Starring Ruins, European Stage, and R.A.R.A., Samples Only is your kind of compilation if you're aware of the development of the new romantic and synth wave scene. It all happened back in the day near Venice. These guys were fascinated with the whole new wave phenomenon -- the radio was pumping in their single rooms and they knew the times were changin'. They were pretty young -- mostly in their twenties -- and any influence came from abroad. Rock, beat, electronic, punk, and even white funk (did someone say A Certain Ratio) all together, as a stream of consciousness. There was a leading TV program at the time, Mr. Fantasy -- directed by an influential journalist and DJ named Carlo Massarini -- and everyone interested in post-punk and art pop was watching it, including the main characters in Samples Only. They were spending all of their small wages on imported records, duplicating them on the (in)famous C90 cassette. They were dreaming of CBGB's in New York or the Blitz in London, but the Italian clubs -- Tenax in Florence, Plastic in Milan, and even the Shindy and Memorabilia in the vast northeast area -- were not afraid of the competition. Samples Only is a postcard from those days, a shining document available again for your pleasure. Includes two tracks from the group Art Déco, exclusive to this reissue.

iV3SCR (THE GREAT COMPLOTTO 2):
All the way from the imaginary NAON state here's the second re-issue of the Great Complotto manifesto from Pordenone (birthplace of the Italian punk style). Originally issued in 1983, even if most of the songs were recorded in 1981, this second compilation is even more attractive than the 1st one. What glues together all the contributions (Sexy Angels, Gigolo Look, Cancer and Mess) is the innovative and creative use of electronics. Back in print for the first time, this vinyl edition shows the original art work (a giant poster folded in four parts) and an extra cd with the complete set list and 5 bonus tracks from the bloody rare single originally enclosed with the magazine Onda 400 (with contributions from Andy Warhol Banana Technicolor, Cancer, Sexy Angels, Fhedolts and Mind Invaders).

RIYL: The Cure, DEVO, Joy Division

BODY SECTION:
Originally released in 1983 (Electric Eye) just as the new Italian rock' movement was beginning to gain momentum, this compilation reflects the impact of a 'post-Joy Division' British new wave on the genre. Divided into two sections, the softer blue section' and the more electric red section', this compilation presents some of the most eclectic groups of the period (DIE FORM, RINF), as well as more sophisticated bands like FRIGIDAIRE TANGO and JEUNESSE D'IVOIRE. It also marked the baptism of two bands (LITFIBA and DIAFRAMMA) that would become synonymous with 'the future of Italian rock' for the next ten years.

FIRST PRESSING (500) ON CLEAR GREEN VINYL!!!
The forthcoming latest edition of the popular compilation series of long-lost vintage 60s-70s proto-metal and stoner rock singles. The series is curated by L.A. label RidingEasy Records and retailer/label Permanent Records. If you'd told us when we started this epic journey that we'd have six volumes worth of licensed tracks released in just three years, we would've laughed in your face! Doing the Dark Lord's work isn't an easy job, but somebody's gotta do it, so here we are with six Trips under our belt and more lined up. You heads just can't get enough obscure hard rock, heavy psych, and proto-metal from the late-60s & 70s! And for that, we're grateful for the opportunity to keep laying these slabs in your lap. This isn't just a random mixtape we threw together off the Internet. We find the records, track the bands and transfer the tapes, so you don't have to. The bands did their job back in the day by writing, recording and releasing this material, most times against all odds, and you've squandered your hard earned scratch on this record, so I guess the least we
can do is continue to compile quality Rock'n'Roll cuts from the golden age of heaviness.
This time around we have 10 deep cuts from across the continental US of A and one from our neighbors up North. This Trip kicks off with an outrageous number from Gold out of
San Francisco circa 1970. The band used to open their sets with this over-the-top frantic jammer which is absolutely mind-blowing and also leads one to believe that the only band that could've held a candle to Gold back in the day would've been the mighty Blue Cheer.
As we delve deeper into the depths, Canadians continue to prove that they could bang heads with the best of 'em! Heat Exchange from Toronto released the rollicking ripper Inferno' on the Yorkville label way back in 1968 and it's still thumping almost 50 years later!
Missouri isn't a state that brought us a lot of heavy 45s, but there are a handful of outstanding tracks from the Show Me State, one of which is the funk-laced anthem Give Me Time' by Backwood Memory from Kansas City. Speaking of Show Me, many thanks to our KC pal Jeffrey Harvey for turning us on to this one and helping put us in touch with the band.
The longer we do this, the more we begin to believe that Youngstown, Ohio was the Hard Rock Mecca back in the day. Travis is yet another Youngstown group that aimed to get
asses out of seats and out in the streets. Lovin' You' is a groovy banger with a sultry riff originally released on the prolific Starshine Productions imprint.
Six years prior to his Arcadian synth-funk novelty hit Space Invaders' from 1980, Victor Uncle Vic' Blecman took Flight into the studio with a list of relationship requirements.
Amongst which are his need for Luvin', Huggin', & More', with emphasis on the More' part if we're to believe the urgency with which he delivers this fist-pumper.
If you don't immediately recognize the Truth & Janey moniker, you need to get with it and familiarize yourself with their incredible 1976 LP No Rest For The Wicked'. It's a protometal masterpiece that's been reissued on Rockadrome. Released four years earlier than their debut LP, Midnight Horseman' is a 45-only track backed with a cover of Under My Thumb'. Dennis Bergeron from Rockadrome was crucial in helping us obtain the rights to this Iowa burner.
Another Iowan group, West Minist'r, self-released three 45s between 1969 and 1975. They're all great in their own way, but My Life' hit the crunchy sweet spot in '71 with vocals sounding like a fresh from primal scream therapy John Lennon over a zonked-out Hendrix groove. You can count on hearing more from West Minist'r on future Trips.
It's nearly impossible that Dayton, Ohio's Purgatory didn't seize the Strange Days' and join The Soft Parade' while Waiting for the Sun'. And although Polar Expedition' wears its influences on its sleeve, 1969 would have been at least a little worse off if the band hadn't self released this single.
Johnny Barnes was definitely smokin' that reefer' and drinkin' that wine' when he released Steel Rail Blues' in 1976. The label states that you could order a copy of this 45 for by sending $1 to a PO Box in Boston and it's the only record on the Brown Acid series that seems to be obtainable currently for about the same amount it was sold for over three decades ago. That said, it's doubtful that it will remain so cheap for much longer.
With a track as heavy as Is There No Peace' it's easy to let the name of the label on this 45 slide. In Chicago in 1970 PSLHRTZ seemed like as good a label name as any for the guys in Zendik to release this insane recording on. Halfway through the track you might be wondering to yourself, How was this not a hit', and then you hear the lyrics to the last bit of the song and understand. Thank Christ for Zendik, even if he is dead.
Well, there ya have it. Months worth of record digging and detective work for about 40 minutes worth of music. Some people might think this is a waste of time, but we don't and we hope you don't either. This is the stuff that makes life worth living, at least until the next Trip...

In creating Freedom, McMahon brought in a powerful set of collaborators and old friends. Along with core band members, including Parker Kindred (Antony & The Johnsons, Jeff Buckley) on drums, came Chris Coady (Beach House) as producer, and Delicate Steve on guitars. This is the first Amen Dunes record that looks back to the electronic influences of McMahon's youth with the aid of revered underground musician Panoram from Rome, who finds his place as a significant, if subtle, contributor to the record. The bulk of the songs were recorded at Electric Lady in New York, and finished at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, where McMahon, Nick Zinner, and session bass player Gus Seyffert (Beck, Bedouine) fleshed out the recordings.

On the surface, Freedom is a reflection on growing up, childhood friends who ended up in prison or worse, male identity, McMahon's father, and his mother, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the beginning of recording. The characters that populate the musical world of the album are a colourful mix of reality and fantasy. Each character portrait is a representation of McMahon, of masculinity, and of his past.

Yet, if anything, these eleven songs are a relinquishing of all of them through exposition, a gradual reorientation of being away from the acquired definitions of self we all cling to and towards something closer to what's stated in the Agnes Martin quote that opens the record, I don't have any ideas myself, I have a vacant mind' and in the swirling, pitched down utterances of That's all not me' that close it.

Miki Dora was arguably the most gifted and innovative surfer of his generation and the foremost opponent of surfing's commercialization. He was also a lifelong criminal and retrograde: a true embodiment of the distorted male psyche. He was a living contradiction, both a symbol of free-living and inspiration, and of the false heroics American culture has always celebrated. With lyrics of regret and redemption at the end of one's youth, the song is about Dora, and McMahon, but ultimately it is a reflection on all manifestations of mythical heroic maleness and its illusions.' - Damon McMahon

Celebrating ten years of what has been dubbed progressive death metal and has earned them a cult following, Finland's six-piece outfit Barren Earth release their fourth full length album, A Complex Of Cages. Each band member possesses their own musical background, but the one unifying aspect among them since day one has been the appreciation of '70s progressive rock bands, an appreciation they readily admit trickles down into their songwriting. And while the "progressive" tag could be seen as locking Barren Earth into a box, they wear it proudly in the context of heavy metal even though their sound is so much more dynamic and multi-dimensional than the technical performances so often attributed to progressive metal. Look no further than A Complex Of Cages for proof.

On Friday 26 May this year, Hawkwind returned to London's legendary Roundhouse venue in Chalk Farm for the first time in 40 years. It was also some 45 years after the band famously performed at the venue (captured for posterity on the Greasy Truckers Party' album), where they recorded the hit version of 'Silver Machine'. - Six months on, this amazing, historic show is captured for posterity within a deluxe, celebratory box set which boasts audio and audio-visual versions of the entire performance. The set-list blends highlights from Hawkwind's last two acclaimed, Top 40 albums The Machine Stops' and Into The Woods' with classics from the band's past. - Yes, it was really good fun playing back at The Roundhouse,' explains Hawkwind's band leader Dave Brock. After not playing there since 1977 (when we had Motorhead support us), it brought back many fine memories for me. Great venue!!' - The show climaxed with guest guitarist Phil 'Wizzo' Campbell (Motörhead, The Bastard Sons) joining the band for encore performances of 'Brainbox Pollution' and 'Silver Machine', the hit version of which was recorded at the Roundhouse back in 1972. - The concert is captured across two CDs and the event can also be enjoyed via a DVD, which reveals an amazing lightshow by John Moules.

El Paso's Holy Wave will release their new album, Adult Fear, on March 30 via The Reverberation Appreciation Society. The band have always differentiated themselves from the psych pack with their keyboard-forward sound that rarely falls into standard trippy tropes, and the album's title track is a good example of that, with a grooving bassline and nice harmonies in the chorus.
Fourth album from the Austin-via-El Paso psychedelic outfit that has supported Hope Sandoval, GOAT and Psychic Ills. They're opening for Slowdive in Dallas on Apr 27. The video for "Adult Fear" received press from Brooklyn Vegan "the band have always differentiated themselves from the psych pack". Previous album Freaks Of Nurture (2016) received praise from Flavorwire "one of the short year's best psych records", Austin Chronicle, The Line of Best Fit, Post-Trash, ThrdCoast.

LOUDBLAST is a legendary Death / Thrash band who pioneered the genres in France and admittedly one of the most important French metal bands of the 1990s. The band began in 1986 in the northern city of Lille - France . Their first recording was a split album with AGGRESSOR (Fr) , playing thrash metal influenced by classic American bands such as SLAYER, EXODUS, METALLICA .. In 1991 they recorded the album "Disincarnate" in Morrisound Recording studios in Tampa, Florida, and the result was a pure death metal album. In the late 1990s they incorporated more melody and groove in their music while maintaining a thrash/death aesthetics, After many prestigious tours with CANNIBAL CORPSE, CORONER, DEATH and more, LOUDBLAST announced a band split in 1999, but reformed after a support concert to DEATH's Chuck Schuldiner in 2002.
The Follow up to the much acclaimed 2011's "Frozen Moments Between Life And Death", "Burial Ground" proved to be a grand return into the scene, being a massively produced dark death metal album incorporating new obscure sounding guitars and vocal delivery that led them to receive roaring press worldwide. LOUDBLAST recorded a live DVD to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It was an incredibly scorching live performance, all walls dribbled down with sweat and metal, the atmosphere was electric. The band has carefully worked on the mix of images and audio production with great attention, it's a great testimony of a much praised old school death metal band . " A pure live recording showing LOUDBLAST gloriously hammering their legendary catalogue in Triumph ! A Grandiose Celebration !"

  • 3: Where Lie The Gods
  • 4: Exile Amongst The Ruins
  • 5: Upon Our Spiritual Deathbed
  • 6: Stolen Years

2018 marks the twenty-seventh year of Primordial's seminal career, and returning with their ninth full-length, Exile Amongst The Ruins, they have lost none of their vitality. Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014's Where Greater Men Have Fallen is a more raw, "old school sounding" record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as "a direct energy" and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of Celtic folk and black metal like no one else. Likewise, the evolution in their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that Exile Amongst The Ruins is essential listening for both their long term faithful and those only now drawn into their world.
Looking back on Where Greater Men Have Fallen, the members remain understandably proud of the critically acclaimed record and everything they achieved with it. "The songs have stood the test of time,"asserts guitarist Ciar

An excerpt from The Damnation Of Adam Blessing Historical Context By Paul Major The Damnation Of Adam Blessing have left us two entire quintessential albums capturing that magic moment when psychedelia was morphing into the sort of hard rock that eventually became termed "classic". Case in point, "Back To The River" from their second LP. It is so "classic" sounding I find it hard to believe even extreme record label incompetence could have stopped it from becoming a massive national hit. Topping that, the song appears at the end of what I consider a perfect album side, one that never fails to deliver. In my imagination millions of partied-out copies are scattered across the entire country. Should be reality, it's that good.

  • 3: Never You Mind
  • 4: Runaway
  • 5: Walk Along
  • 6: The Spell

They're a monstrous rock n roll power trio with three lead singers and a dazzling classic touch. The group effortlessly draws their influence from the greatest musical ideas from when Rock Ruled The World, it's as if they truly ARE from that Golden era. But their gift to us in The Now, and it is an epic, soulful, and hard-hitting maelstrom of feel-good, anthemic and tough swinging sounds. When you listen to THE GOLDEN GRASS, it's no surprise feel as if you're at The UFO Club, or watching Germany's Beat Club or at the legendary Fillmore East because these boys transport you to that PLACE and TIME, earnestly, truthfully, and with a style and flare wholly their own. It's all in there too, the throbbing shuffle of the Blues, the deep haze of wild Psychedelia, the American flavored Southern Rock, the mind-warping fantasy of early Progressive/Jazz Rock, the pulsating British Freakbeat/Mod sound, heavy doses of Proto-metal power, and the funky/soulful touch of Northern Soul to seal the deal. Is this really possible Could a band really BE this Well on their newest and most astonishing album, insistently titled "Absolutely", you'll be the one to find out! Go on now, drink from the Golden cup of life and bathe in sonic goodness. THE GOLDEN GRASS is playing your song.

Discharge - Early Demos March/June 1977

  • A3: Living In The City
  • A4: Acne
  • A5: I Love Dead Babies

  • B1: Under My Feet

  • B3: There's No Future U.s.a
  • B4: Acne (Alternate Version)
  • B5: Pigs (Alternate Version)
  • B6: Do Or Die
  • B7: Pause

Well, this is not the same DISCHARGE that we all know and love. Technically it's the same band, but it sounds completely different. As the title states, this LP is their early demo recordings from March - June, 1977. If you've never heard this, and someone played it at a party, you would never guess who it is. No, this is not the raging D-beat hardcore that we're all accustomed to. The punk on this record is so '77 that it's almost ridiculous, very much a product of its time. The music is extremely basic, very simple, very primitive, and completely callow. It doesn't have the political, anti-war out rage either, instead we have songs with titles like, 'I Don't Care', 'Acne', 'I love Dead Babies', and 'Sweet Suburban Dreams'. And if the lyrical content wasn't enough to convince you that this is actually a lost SEX PISTOLS demo, then the vocal style, which sounds strikingly similar to Johnny Rotten, will. There is no list of members who played on these demos, so I have no idea how many of the members went on to be in the later incarnations of DISCHARGE. The whole record screams of the early days of young, snotty, pissed off punks filled with teen angst. I guess if you're a huge DISCHARGE completist, you should pick this up, or if your really into the raw, primal '77 punk sound. Limited edition of 500 hand numbered copies.

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry were one of the finest post-punk groups of the mid '80s, founded in 1981 in Leeds by chief member Chris Reed. Molded after the likes of Wire and Joy Division, the Lorries combined angular walls of guitar noise with throbbing bass lines and drum machine to create a unique sound that was indebted to the first wave of UK post-punk but quickly evolved into a new sound all their own. After several singles on the Red Rhino label, the group released their debut LP in 1985. The group's finest effort, Talk About The Weather reached #3 on the NME album charts and has maintained a reputation as one of the best UK post-punk records of the 1980s all these 3+ decades later. Essential stuff. Reissued in a limited edition of 500 on hand numbered 180 gram LP with 4 bonus tracks.

Stray Cats formed in 1979 in the Long Island town of Massapequa. Although an American group, it wasn't until they moved to the UK - a country and continent more interested in their retro rockabilly sound - that they achieved any kind of success. Their first album from 1981 was released only in Europe where they notched several hit singles. Their popularity outside the USA was so strong that of the 100s of shows the group played in 1981, only 10 of them were in the states. One of those, from The Roxy in West Hollywood on September 2, was recorded for history to witness, and the band is absolutely on fire. They sound like they've got something to prove in their home country and the shredding rockabilly set is something to behold. Essential live Stray Cats reissued in a limited edition of 500 copies.

POWELL ST. JOHN - Sultan Of Psychedelia

Powell St. John is unquestionably one of the true founders and innovators of the acid rock sound.

A listen here will leave no doubt as to why he has earned the title Sultan Of Psychedelia'.

Archival recordings of pure rootsy psychedelia by the obscure but iconic 1960's Austin, Texas musician/songwriter who not only wrote the timeless rock classic 'Bye, Bye Baby,' but also four songs on the legendary first two 13th Floor Elevator albums, "Psychedelic Sounds' (1966) and Easter Everywhere' (1967).

Aside from his songwriting relationship with The Elevators, Powell's musical credentials include stints with The Waller Creek Boys and a young Janis Joplin, the early Austin psych band The Conqueroo, and Mother Earth with Tracy Nelson.

Over the years, Powell's songs have been recorded by such artists as Boz Scaggs, Janis Joplin, Doug Sahm, The 13th Floor Elevators, Mother Earth and Roky Erickson. Boz called Powell a fantastic songwriter, Roky referred to him as a first-rate harmonica player and Tracy said he was the most significant and profound and the least appreciated artist of the era.'

The twelve songs on this, the first ever vinyl album of Powell's music, are a mesmerizing mix of psychedelia with basic blues influences, soulful harmonica, brilliant electric guitar that fuses trembling vibrato, effects and fuzz, some Elevators type' jug and even some Spanish influence on at least one song. The lyrics are masterful strokes of acid-inspired, thought-provoking storytelling. The legendary Roky Erickson joins Powell on track nine, 'Right Track Now.' Other artists participating on this album include: John Ike Walton and Ronnie Leatherman of the 13th Floor Elevators, Mary Ann Price from Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks, and Frosty Smith, drummer for Lee Michaels, Rare Earth and others. Appropriately, 'Kingdom Of Heaven,' one of the all-time LSD anthems, starts the album.

- A four page bio booklet with rare pictures

- Limited vinyl pressing of 500

- This is a fully licensed Lysergic Sound Distributors release, presented only as a limited vinyl release.

- Comes with a glossy print of one of Powell's colorful pieces of hand drawn fantastical' art!

NEW PROTO-DOOM VINYL RELEASE

Rare mid 70s downer-rock by south London based godless degenerates Warlord, featuring the tortured vocals of wildman singer Richard Roffey and eerie organ of leader Ivan Coutts. Soaked in a maelstrom of dark imagery this underground band's drug-crazed ravings are propelled by the hard-riffing guitar of pre Stallion axeman John Alexander.

From the Sabbath style head-banger 'Face Of The Sun' to the concluding witch burning ceremony of 'The Ring', echoing early Black Widow, Warlord's frantic sound is both gripping and unnerving.

Also included is a pre Warlord track 'To The Devil A Daughter' by the Coutts led outfit The Blacksmiths plus detailed band history.

Placed under the media spotlights in 2011 thanks to their joyful and loony indie pop, Concrete Knives went on to sign with the legendary UK imprint Bella Union (Beach House, Fleet Foxes, Lift To Experience, etc.). Their first album Be Your Own King was successfully released the following year, selling more than 7000 copies in France alone and sending the group of friends on the road to play more than 150 live dates all over Europe. Quiet for the past six years and after recording with Danish producer Andreas Pallisgaard (Trentemøller, Goat, Pinkunoizu), the band is set to return with a much awaited second effort on the French label Vietnam (H-Burns, Chevalrex Pharaon De Winter).

Ilyas Ahmed - Closer To Stranger

Closer To Stranger is the new solo album by Pakistani-born dream-folk musician Ilyas Ahmed. Drawing on a wide range of influences, his songs incorporate classic singer-songwriter gestures alongside more experimental leanings. Recorded to tape in the studio by Justin Higgins in the fall of 2016 and finished in the spring of 2017, Ahmed's instrumental palette includes: acoustic and electric 6 and 12-string guitars, Fender Rhodes, multiple keyboards, tanpura, and percussion. Closer To Stranger stands as a meditation on uneasy identity politics during times of unreason, seeking peace amidst chaos.Jonathan Sielaff (of Thrill Jockey ambient duo Golden Retriever) cameos with guest saxophone on Zero For Below' but otherwise the album is a solo affair, alternately feverish, tense, hazed, hypnotic, and narcotic. A slowly unfolding inward journey of late night lullabies and contemplative electric drift.
