Groove Armada's fifth studio album Soundboy Rock is and unpredictable mix of breakbeats, trip hop and electro-driven songs. The diversity and continuity of their previous work Lovebox is combined with some exciting heaviness. They offer so much diversity that every musical fan will get it's taste of their great production skills. MC Stush shares her vocals on the hooked single Get Down'. The eighties pop and new wave comes together on the glorious Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control)'. The productions sounds perfect and the vocals turn out well.

The electronic music duo Andy Cato and Tom Findlay took their first step in the music scene when they were working together in the music club Groove Armada. Later on they released a couple of big hits, including My Friend' and Superstylin''.

'Konata Kanata' is the Tokyo-based trio Hontatedori's second release, following their self-titled debut LP from 2013 on the Japanese Compare Notes label. Taku Unami, Moé Kamura and Tetuzi Akiyama are better known as solo performers and in their numerous collaborations than they are in this unique, lovely trio - at least until now.
Hontatedori places Kamura's wonderfully delicate voice amidst the mercurial two-guitar landscape of Unami and Akiyama in crystalline settings of aphoristic song. The group describes their pieces as originating in monophonic compositions by Unami that gesture eccentrically toward medieval plainchant: 'Originally their music sounded like covert and whispering folk music, however, they've come to the sound of quiet funkiness and cold psychedelia.' Some listeners might liken them to a dialled-back, considerably more reserved version of various Dagmar Krause-led groups such as Slapp Happy and the Art Bears given their erasure of separation between art and pop song.

The eighteen exquisite minutes of 'Konata Kanata' ('Here There', in a slightly antiquated Japanese word choice) hearken back to the golden age of unclassifiable post punk 12' EPs, in which at a certain point all that you might know of a particular group consists of rigorously vetted representative pieces but also to miniatures -
tantalizing scraps of song - that are one of the legacies of musical
modernism.

Taku Unami's work is influenced by science fiction, supernatural
horror and weird fiction. He's the composer of film scores for
directors including Isao Okishima and Takeshi Furusawa and has
collaborated with, among others, Annette Krebs, Radu Malfatti, JeanLuc Guionnet, Jarrod Fowler and Graham Lambkin.

Moé Kamura began her career performing in plays and films and
singing her own songs at live music venues. After a career break she has collaborated with numerous musicians; she is also a member of Taku Sugimoto and Moé Kamura and Hotorapikara.

Tetuzi Akiyama is a widely revered guitarist whose many recordings include solo works and improvisations with Jozef van Wissem, Toshimaru Nakamura, Taku Sugimoto, Alan Licht, Günter Müller and Donald McPherson, among many others.

The New Age for me, captures the band's live sound. 3 and a half minutes of loud guitars and energy with a sort of 'back to basics' approach. The music video was shot one day within the album recording sessions at the studio in Chelmsford.

regrooving what was once called 'Hair' into what is
now 'Joy'.
Hair' grew out of a simpler time. If, as the duo
indeed affirm on 'Joy', rock in 2018 is dead, don't
come around here looking for no burial. Instead,
find 'Joy' caught up in the commencement of onbeyond rock; music made with the old tools but
emitted from a fresh new, single-celled organism.
This time, the old one and one make one' line
does not apply. 'Hair' had the quality of emulsion -
drops of Segall suspended in Fence; a compound
of White dispersed over sheets of Ty. With 'Joy',
Tim and Ty arrive without travelling from the same
place, occupy one single headspace, finishing the
other's phrases, pulling licks from each other's
places. Singing and thinking and laughing as one.
Both these fellows have been known to trifle with
tropic pasts and reactivate vintage visions within
their new music. Not now. Now is the only time
this time - 'Joy' is their own sound of today, a
shared individuality, prisming all possible stances
into an unseemly metastasis that flows for 15
tracks.

Guild of Ages ist eine der populärsten Bands aus Denver's Rockszene , deren Wurzeln bis ins Jahr
1989 zurück reichen. Die Band nannte sich bis 1998 Caught in the Act (auch CITA), mußte den
Namen aber nach einer Klage der gleichnamigen schwedischen Boy Group wieder ändern.

Melodic-Rock-Szene in Europa und Japan zu dieser Zeit noch sehr lebendig war, kam es schnell zu
diversen territorialen Signings (Empire Records (SE), MTM Music (Europa), Toshiba EMI (JP)) und
Album-Veröffentlichungen.
Die Band trennte sich 2002 und fand 2014 für eine Festival-Show in Nottingham, England wieder
zusammen. Es war offensichtlich, dass die Band immer noch klang, als hätte sie sich nie getrennt. Die
Band reiste zu ihrer offiziellen Wiedervereinigung nach England, ohne zu ahnen, dass ihre
Fangemeinde nach langen Jahren der Trennung, immer noch so unfassbar stark ist. Als Dank an
die Fans gingen Guild of Ages 2017 erneut ins Studio um ein neues Album aufzunehmen. 12

To put it simply, 'True Meanings', the fourteenth Paul Weller solo album, the twenty sixth studio album of his entire career, is a record unlike any he has ever made before.

'True Meanings', is released on September 14th and is an album characterised by grandiose-yet-delicate, lush orchestration: an aesthetic to which Paul's better-than-ever voice, singing some of his most nakedly honest words, is perfectly suited. A dreamy, peaceful, pastoral set of songs to get lost in, it is both an album that a lot of his faithful audience have been wanting him to make for a long time, and an album that many new people outside of that audience will relate to.

On the 25th May this year, Paul Weller turned 60: a milestone that has unquestionably had an impact on the feel, both lyrically and musically, of 'True Meanings' which comes across being the most singer-songwriter-style album he has ever made. However, it is also the most collaborative: with more guests than any record he's been involved in before.

As well as all the members of Weller's band, Rod Argent of the Zombies provides Hammond organ on 'The Soul Searchers' and piano and Mellotron on 'White Horses'; folk legends Martin Carthy and Danny Thompson add picked guitar and double bass respectively to 'Come Along'; Little Barrie plays lead guitar on 'Old Castles'; Lucy Rose sings backup on 'Books'; and 'Movin On' is the result of a 'scratchy demo'on Paul's phone that was sent to Tom Doyle of the White Label project. Even Noel Gallagher makes a sneaky appearance.

Perhaps most surprisingly of all, especially given how personal and introspective 'True Meanings' feels, lyrics for four of the fourteen songs here were written, to Weller's melodies, by others. Connor O'Brien from Villagers came up with the words to opener 'The Soul Searchers', while 'Bowie', 'Wishing Well' and the closing 'White Horses' are all the work, lyrically, of Erland Cooper from Erland & The Carnival.

'True Meanings' was produced by Paul Weller except 'The Soul Searchers', which was co-produced by Paul and Conor O'Brien and 'Movin On' which was co-produced by Weller and White Label. The album was engineered and recorded by Charles Rees and mixed by Jan Stan Kybert.

The album was recorded in just over 3 weeks at Paul's own Black Barn Studio, with the aforementioned, revolving cast of characters dropping in for a day here and there. The orchestration was added soon after, and that was that. It is always a good sign when the recording of an album is swift, and here you can just hear that the man at the centre of these songs is as focused and inspired - more inspired, even - than he has ever been.

My favourite songs on Terry's new album 'I'm Terry' (the band's third record in three years), are Under Reign, it's a creepy one, sandwiched between other new faves The Whip and Crimes. There's a theme of dominance and submission here, but kinda unremarkable and ignorable, like knowing you're enslaved by your streaming service but just gently putting that out of your mind for another week. Terry is domesticity. Terry romances the mundane. This is how romance ekes out a triumph amidst mundanity. That's what Billy Bragg's New England and Squeeze's Up The Junction do. Terry's suburban escapism moment is Ciao Goodbye. Listen to Ciao Goodbye on an arterial road under the yellow streetlights of a weeknight. Terry has never been this beautiful. Terry may never be beautiful again, definitely not on this record. The next song is psycho.
That's what I like about Terry, there are few rules in Terry's world. They seem to make a song out of whatever sounds good to them. I literally don't know what they'll do next. They aren't a genre study. The only stylistic consistency is in their hat wear. I've never been in a band like this. I've been in a band that simultaneously studied genre and also hats. But never only hats. Have you noticed the reggae undercurrent in Terry There is one. This is good. Terry are kinda like Steely Dan or 10cc. Both bands make me queasy after a certain point. Terry probably also make me a bit queasy, singing about police beatings and nationalism and all that. But they're not out to hurt you. They're like the kindly bearer of bad news. There's some awful shit going on in this country. Terry knows. Terry puts it in terms that speak to me. It's a tragicomedy. I want to laugh and sometimes I want to consider crying. But I don't think I will. I'm pretty certain Terry isn't perverse, they're just the harbinger of the encroaching perverse world. I'm pretty certain Terry wants to be my friend, and your friend. Our friend, Terry.

Whether it was coincidence, influence, or good old show biz imitation, Coven's 1969 album featuring the lead-off track "Black Sabbath" was released the same year as the formation of the more popular heavy metal band. To make the story more even interesting, Coven featured a bass player named Oz Osborne. The soon-to-be-famous Ozzy's band Black Sabbath emerged a year after the release of this LP with a similar image and their own song called "Black Sabbath."

Great Canterbury prog, and the one Canterbury band closest to traditional prog. This was basically Steve Hillage and Dave Stewart with bassist Nick Greenwood, and drummer Eric Peachy. Vocals are handled by both Hillage and Greenwood.



This is a great album, and I'd even go as far as saying that I can recommend it even if the Canterbury scene isn't your thing, but you love prog rock in general.

When rainbows came back to England, the drummer P. Wilkinson left the band (he joined a band called the Flying Machine).

So then there were three musicians: Amos, Cure, and Howells.

They changed the band name to "Still Life" and wrote the songs which turned into the album but the band did not have a drummer. Alan Savage was contacted to do the session and he had about a week to learn the material prior to recording. The album was recorded at Sound Recording Studios, near Marble Arch in London.

Tindersticks are an English alternative rock band led by the singer Stuart A. Staples. They recorded several albums which became popular years after their release. One of them is the slightly bright but still dark coloured Curtains. The songs on the album develops themselves into intimidate and destructive pearls. Stuart and Co created some melancholic melodies questioning on privacy issues and the feelings of lost. The warmer tones can be found in the vocal parts and putting away some of the depressive moods from their first albums.

Tindersticks recorded eleven albums to date and recorded songs for which Stuart A. Staples wrote lyrics based on his own life and that of people surrounding him.

This expanded edition contains the 15 original album songs plus 9 bonus tracks with, among others, 'Paco's Theme', 'A Marriage Made In Heaven' (duet with Isabella Rossellini) and 'Rented Rooms'.

Raw, violent and catchy, Blitz's 1982 debut album sounded like a shot of pure rock and roll through the violence of the English working class. Made up by two punks and two skinheads, with a lot to say about violence and football, Blitz appealed to all kinds of lowlifes, who finally had a voice for their generation. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl with a faithful reproduction of the original inner sleeve.

On their very first shot, Count Five, one of America's most exciting mid-60s garage rock groups, hit the bulls-eye. And, fittingly, on Double Shot Records, a hot new label that was also making its debut. For both, it was a giant hit, "Psychotic Reaction," a driving, pulsating sound that zoomed to the top of the charts. To the five youngsters from San Jose, CA, "over-night" success came after 18 months of rehearsals, experimentations and unique innovations. Thanks to a tip from popular disk jockey Brian Lord, Double-Shot Records signed Count Five to a long-term contract in the summer of '66. The instant success of "Psychotic Reaction" prompted the release of this album of the same name, their one and only full-length studio record, which also includes covers of The Who's "My Generation" and "Out In The Street." 180g vinyl reissue with Stoughton jacket packaging.
