TEMIC haben gerade mal ein Album aufgenommen, aber um an diesen Punkt zu gelangen, musste diese Supergruppe durch ein ziemliches Karrierelabyrinth navigieren. Die Jungs haben bereits mit Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress, Neal Morse, SHINING und Maraton gespielt. Aber erst als die Welt im Jahr 2020 stillstand, kamen Keyboarder Diego Tejedia und Gitarrist Eric Gillette dazu, gemeinsam eine Band zu gründen.

Ihre Idee war nicht gerade einfach: ihre Vorliebe für energiegeladene Electronica und Killer-Melodien in einer modernen Prog-Metal-Band zu orchestrieren. Aber mit der Verpflichtung von Sänger Fredrik Klemp und Simen Sandnes am Schlagzeug haben Temic es geschafft, dieses Konzept zu verwirklichen. Terror Management Theory" ist voller Wendungen und Überraschungen. Das neue DAMNATION'S HAMMER Album besticht durch unbarmherzigen Heavy Metal und dem für die Band typischen doomigen Groove. Die Band präsentiert sich hier deutlich experimentierfreudiger als auf dem Vorgängeralbum "Unseen Planets, Deadly Spheres".
Erneut von Mark Mynett produziert, baut das Werk auf dem Fundament des Vorgängeralbums "Unseen Planets, Deadly Spheres" auf.
Die Eröffnungssalven "Sutter Cane" und "Do Not Disturb The Watchmaker" sind ein Riff-geladenes Feuerwerk - ersteres fast chaotisch und mit einem kurzen Spoken-Word-Part von Aaron Stainthorpe von My Dying Bride! Dann setzt "Do Not Disturb The Watchmaker" mit seinem schlängelnden Groove ein, bevor es in einen thrashigen Refrain mündet.
Das Album hat immer noch die gewaltigen Riffs, für die DAMNATION'S HAMMER bekannt sind, aber "Into The Silent Nebula" ist abenteuerlicher ausgefallen als sein Vorgänger.
Das Gegenstück zum Titeltrack - einfach "The Silent Nebula" genannt - zum Beispiel, ist ein atmosphärisches, bluesiges Instrumentalstück; ruhig, aber dennoch mit einem bedrohlichen Charakter. Es schließt mit einer trägen, melodischen Basslinie, während Sakis von Rotting Christ aus dem Titeltrack des Albums zitiert.

Viertes Album der griechischen Power/Prog Metal Band. Mitte der 90er Jahre gegründet, liefern Fortress Under Siege aus Athen Power/Prog Metal, der traditionellen Heavy Metal mit technischer und melodischer Power auf höchstem Niveau verbindet. 1996 gehörten FUS zu den ersten griechischen Bands die Power Metal mit Prog verbanden. Seitdem wurden 3 Alben veröffentlicht: "The Mortal Flesh of Love" (2011), "Phoenix Rising" (2014), "Atlantis" (2020). . "Envy", ihr bisher kraftvollstes Album, bietet modernen Power Metall, ohne die Verbindung zu ihrer Vergangenheit zu verlieren. Der Lyrics bieten wieder eine große Vielfalt, die sich mit sozialen, historischen, Science-Fiction- und mythologischen Themen befasst. Ein Original-Meisterwerk von Ioannis Koutrikas ziert das Cover der neuen Platte, eine Allegorie des Neids. Nachdem sie die Bühne mit Bands wie Accept, Hammerfall, Guano Apes, Serious Black und anderen geteilt haben, werden sie bald wieder auf Tour gehen. Das Power-Prog-Metal-Abenteuer geht weiter.

Burn Up The Night, das vierte Album von Kryptos, fällt bereits auf den ersten Blick durch sein grandioses 80er Jahre Retro-Cover auf. Entworfen wurde das Cover Artwork von Mattias Frisk, der unter anderem durch seine beeindruckende Arbeit für die Okkult Rocker von Ghost bekannt ist. Das ganze Album ist vollgepackt mit stahlharten Riffs und Twin Gitarrenläufe, die direkt aus den glorreichen Tagen des 80er Metals und der NWOBHM stammen können. Die beißenden Vocals und raue Produktion machen Burn Up The Night zum ultimativen Soundtrack von Kutten, Leder und Nieten. Old school or no school!

Lyon, France’s Meurtrières has not strayed far from their original goal of writing old-school, epic heavy metal with medieval overtones on their newest effort, Ronde De Nuit. If anything, the band (consisting of new vocalist Fiona, the guitar tandem of Flo Spector and Olivier, bassist Xavier and drummer Thomas) has taken what they started on their well-received 2020 self-titled EP and added new layers of complexity and depth. It is the natural transition for a band gaining more confidence in its songwriting abilities. Yet the noticeable change starts in the vocal spot. Out is the original frontwoman Fleur and in her place is Fiona. Meurtrières wasted little time introducing Fiona — the band started playing live shows and writing new material with her right after the release of the EP, thus, giving Meurtrières ample time to hone its new material. And Fiona fits the band’s hard-charging, gallant music like a glove, coming away with a stronghold of fiery, epic choruses — all sung in the Meurtrières’ native tongue. The lyrical subject matter on Ronde De Nuit still spans the medieval domain but with increased emphasis on paintings by Rembrandt (The Night Watch) and Johann Heinrich (Füssli). The band aimed to make the songs “pictorial,” reflecting imaginary portraits to draw in the listener. Except for “Aucun Homme, Aucun Dogme, Aucune Croix” (which is a known French medieval legend about a real woman), the songs on Ronde De Nuit are based on fantasy with a desired fate: All the depicted characters are doomed to tragedy, for in the world of Meurtrières, there is no such thing as crowned kings and queens and even glorious warriors. Artwork by Ivan Brun rounds out a package that perfectly ties in thematically with the desperate and dark themes of the lyrics. It is a fitting component to an album laced with stunning visuals and epic, old-school metal of the highest order!

Mit einem einzigen Demo namens "042103Freitod" lotete Farsot 2004 die Grenzen des rohen, kalten Black Metal aus, mit ihrem über Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions veröffentlichten Debut-Album "IIII" bereichert die Formation das Genre um ihre eigenen niederschmetternden Visionen menschlicher Abgründe. Dabei vermeiden die junge Deutschen mit ihren zwischen Unvorhersehbar- und Eingängigkeit pendelnden Stücken plumpe Effekthascherei und dringen ebenso beharrlich wie subtil in ebenjene gefürchteten Seelenwinkel vor, die in uns allen lauern.

Mit "Karwoche" erscheint im 30ten Jahr nach der Gründung unter dem Namen Desîhra bereits das vierzehnte NOCTE OBDUCTA-Album. Das Wirken der Band hat seit den späten 90ern die deutsche Szene beeinflusst und mit ihrer Vielfältigkeit und großem Maß an Eigenwilligkeit immer wieder neue Akzente gesetzt. Mit "Karwoche - Die Sonne der Toten pulsiert" richtet Mastermind Marcel stilistisch den Blick verstärkt auf das erste Jahrzehnt von NOCTE OBDUCTA, geschickt verwoben mit Elementen aus dem jüngeren Soundkosmos, und ergänzt diese musikalische Seite mit seinen unverkennbaren Lyrics. Dabei geht es bei "Karwoche" - konträr zu modernen, polierten Produktionen - immer natürlich und fast schon räudig zur Sache, ohne den Blick für Details und die für NOCTE OBDUCTA charakteristischen Melodien zu verlieren. Der analoge Sound ergänzt perfekt die dichte und teils morbide Atmosphäre, die das Album zu jeder Sekunde versprüht. Escape From Wonderland, Deutschlands neuester und heißester Metalcore-Export aus Stuttgart, machten 2018 ihre ersten Schritte in der Szene und sind seitdem quer durch das Land getourt und haben die Bühnen mit einigen der größten Acts der Metalszene geteilt. Nach der Veröffentlichung einer EP und einiger Singles unterzeichnete die Band ihren ersten weltweiten Plattenvertrag mit Drakkar Entertainment / Soulfood in Hamburg. In melo-death circles, AETHERIAN's debut album, released at the end of 2017, is considered a surprise success. On the one hand, "The Untamed Wilderness" has attracted attention because hardly anyone had the Greeks on their radar. On the other hand, the quintet from Athens, active since 2013, has convinced with a sovereign debut that was equal to Nordic scene greats like INSOMNIUM, DARK TRANQUILLITY and OMNIUM GATHERUM. Listening to "At Storm's Edge", one notices several things: the musicians individually act both more precisely and more playfully. At the same time, the group play sounds even more exciting and distinctive. Especially the majestic melodic guitar leads, the driving drumming and the throaty growls stand out. In the compositional area AETHERIAN apply their storyteller approach variable and song-serving. Despite considerable playing times, the album's eight tracks come across as focused and urgent. Acoustic accents and a fine feeling for special atmospheres additionally distinguish the playing of the five Greeks. The second full length of the band from Athens is called "At Storm's Edge" and was recorded at Devasoundz studios and produced by Fotis Benardo (Nightfall, ex- Septic Flesh). AETHERIAN are not content with a spectator role on the sidelines, but pushes forward into the center in every respect and goes into full swing.
